Hey guys,
I have the following problem: ADB does recognize my HOX, all drivers are installed etc. However, it only recognizes it if the HOX is turned off or in recovery mode. If the HOX is booted into CM10.1 Staging 5 "adb devices" shows nothing. ADB Debugging is enabled of course.
I already tried this but it didnt't help. Everything else I found via google didn't help also...
I hope that you can help me with this issue. Thank you in advance,
Monsterkater
Switch to MTP instead of using usb mass storage.
Alternatively you can stay with UMS and use an app called adb wireless for your usb debugging needs.

Somehow my HOX doesn't even show the option for MTP/PTP ...
Hook USB > Settings > Storage > press menu button
Nothing appears?
Ah, thank you. I didn't know that you can access that menu this way.
Now it works, thank you very much!
No problem

Thanks for this, I was looking for a solution the last two hours.

Hi I have an HTC ONE S and I just didn't know where to post for help, so I figured the ONE X forum may be a good place to start. I cannot seem to connect my phone via USB to any one's computer. It does not even ask me for the "storage or charge" option when I connect a usb cable. All it does is go directly into charge mode.
In bootloader I cannot even get it to show "Fastboot USB" when I connect a cable so using ADB isn't an option either. Yesterday the phone actually worked after about 2 months of not working and then when I tried reconnecting it, it stopped working again and remains USB-less as of now.
I think it important to note that the options under "Storage" in the setting menu show a "Mount SD card" but it's all grey and cannot be selected. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have CyanogenMod 10.1 (latest build March 12th) and my SD card is built-in.

Hi guys!
Haven't been here for a long time but now I need help or guidelines for the problem:
I got HTC Desire with shattered screen - LCD and digitizer. It lights up but no image.
Phone connects to computer as Adnroid Phone on Mac and USB Mass Storage Device on Windows so I assume the USB Developer mode s not enabled.
Is there any chance of recovering contacts without screen replacement?
Thanks!

You can't assume that usb debugging isn't enabled just because it connects to the PC as a hard drive. Try using "adb devices" to see if your device is properly configured for adb.
Thanks,
Already done that but I forgot to mention... I get empty "List of devices attached".
When I connect another phone with Debugging Mode enabled "adb devices" lists connected device without any problems.
Any other ideas?

Adb should work in recovery. Boot in recovery, connect your phone and try "adb devices" again.
I have formatted my desktop computer few days back and since then I cant connect my One X to my PC
I have searched all the thread but cant find a solution to my problem therefor I am creating this new thread..
Here are the points
1) Installed latest HTC drivers
2) My other phone gets connected without any problem that means only my one x is having the problem
3) I am using kitkat aosp rom maybe thats why my computer cant detect the phone
4) When I connect my phone to computer, it starts to install the drivers. All drivers get installed successfully except "Android Phone" and device manager shows Android Phone with a yellow exclamation mark.
5) adb commands dont show any device connected.
6) I tried to enable and disable usb debugging
7) I tried to boot into bootloader and then fastboot commands work (I tried erase cache and devices commands)
8) So is there any way I can use adb commands from my computer while my phone is booted ?
try this
1)disable debug mode then connect your phone and mount sd card
2)if above step doesnt work, enable debug mode, connect your phone, mount sd card then disable debug mode.
or
3)mount sd card from recovery
or
4)use sense rom
since I flashed kitkat rom, i have to disable usb debugging before clicking 'turn on usb storage'. Only then my pc will detect my phone

Actually USB mass storage works without any problem. I disable usb debugging and usb mass storage works.. I am not having any problem with that. My problem is that I cant use adb commands on my phone since adb cant detect my phone...

Me too. adb doesn't detect my phone after kitkat. But I don't use adb that much. Do let me know anyways if there's any solution

Gotta try that, I have the same problem. ADB over wifi works fine, and so does fastboot with the cable connected.

OK using a windows 8.1 Pro laptop, ADB installed properly with HTC Sync Manager, both Windows, HTC Sync Manager and the Device Manager in the Control Panel can see my phone. I tick on USB debugging and then press revoke USB debugging authorizations. Unplug my phone and plug it back in. I'm using the original USB cable from HTC. Everything pops up and shows like it's connected, except when I type in
Code:
adb devices
in the command prompt, then it just comes up blank. I've attached screen shots so you guys can see what I am talking about. If you have any ideas it would be much appreciated. I've attached some photos just to show that I've dotted all my i's and crossed all my t's as far as I can see. I also want to point out this is the second computer I've tried this on.

1) Unplug the phone from your computer
2) Uninstall anything related to HTC (drivers, sync managers..)
3) Reboot the computer
4) Install the latest (direct URL) HTC Sync Manager
5) I tend to uninstall the manager right afterwards (optional)
6) Reboot the computer & plug in your device
7) Report back

Yeah that didn't work, I even tried installing the USB Driver manually and that didn't work either. Still comes up as not connected, it's super frustrating.
Not sure if this helps but for some reason my Android Phone isn't showing up under Android phone in my Device Manager, it's showing up as Portable Devices. I don't know if this is an issue or not, anyone care to give an opinion?

That's normal as the phone is using MTP, the Android Phone entry only appears once the drivers are installed. It's definitely a driver issue but as to what I can't say as I have no issues on my 8.1 Pro laptop
I think I figured something out, just flash CM 12 - (God it's amazing. ) and now I can see my phone on ADB, so whatever ****ery was going on I am blaming it on HTC stock rom.

is cm12 worth the hassle?
Sorry for the necrobump, but I ran across this thread while researching the same issue on my M8 and wanted to save anyone else the trouble if they also stumbled across this same issue.
Though the solution discussed would likely work, if you don't want to hassle with a new ROM, it is possible to fix it on your existing ROM provided you have root.
[SOLVED] ADB 'unauthorized', no RSA prompt, and no 'Revoke USB debugging' option

Thanks for this guide you put up. Interesting that there was no option for you to revoke USB authorization. My device is S-ON and have been using Viper for a while with the option available. Same for HTC stock. Good for you getting that fixed. Had a similar issue on a different device months ago.
I already enabled OEM Unlock and USB Debugging in Developer options.
then I connected my LG G4 H811 to PC and confirmed MTP.
adb devices just shows:
List of devices attached
If I select USB charge instead of MTP, the adb devices shows:
List of devices attached:
LGH811***** offline
Looks like MTP mode adb cannot connect to H811 at all.
Does anyone know the reason? Really need to unlock bootloader and then root my phone.
Thanks

its beacause your mobile's Debugging didnt alowed that usb connection. when u type 'adb device' there should be a popup on your device asking to connect to pc. choose Allow. it will be online hen.
Thanks for the reply!
But there is no popup on the phone when I type "adb devices". The only popup I see is when I connect PC and phone with USB, a popup on phone asks me "Allow this computer to access your phone data?" I choose "Yes"
Any help will be much appreciated.

If all the checks boxes are ticked, try revoking USB debugging authorizations. Connect your device as MTP (try PTP as well) and try to adb devices again and see if you get the pop up on your phone. Last option would be to boot into recovery via button combo and reboot into the bootloader from there.

I tried all of your suggestions, none of them work.
PTP/USB charging mode, adb devices shows:
List of devices attached:
LGH811***** offline
MTP shown no device attached...
I did get into download mode (bootloader mode I think) - screen says Firmware Update, do not unplug the USB connection until the process is complete
Then I tried to run fastboot oem unlock, it stucks at
< waiting for device >
and there is no change on phone screen.
Any other ideas? I really need to root my H811. Appreciate any suggestions!
Change to PTP mode.

Download mode is not the recovery. If you have TWRP installed as your recovery, power your phone off completely and disconnect it from the computer. Then press and hold volume down and power. Keep holding and when you see the LG screen, release only the power button and press and hold it quickly again (you should still be holding volume down). This'll take you to the factory reset screen, select yes twice and you should be taken to twrp. REMEMBER, ONLY DO THIS IF YOU HAVE TWRP INSTALLED!

I followed all steps in the thread you list. I am stuck at "adb devices" where I didn't see my phone is listed if I connect with MTP mode. For USB charge or PTP, I see devices but it is offline.
With this problem, I cannot get my phone reboot into bootloader mode and run oem unlock/twrp.

Did you tried revoking the usb auth?

Do you receive a popup afterwards when connecting the usb cable?
PTP or usb charge should be fine.
What OS are you running?
.
I am using Window10 on my PC.
I made a tiny progress: I installed LG Bridge software and it updated LG driver on my PC. Now when I connect phone to PC with USB (of course I choose "ALLOW" for popup USB Connection Allow this computer to accept your phone data?). Now I see devices under MTP mode but it is still offline so I cannot boot it into bootloader mode. There is no popup when I run adb devices.
I tried revoke USB auth a couple of time, no luck
Finally I made it work!
The reason is adb I was using is too old
I changed to 1.0.31 then it works w/o any issue.
Thanks for the help all the way! I really appreciate your patience.
