not my app, i stumbled across this app referenced here in xda somewhere. it puts any user apps in hibernation until they are called, reducing background processes from wut i can tell so far..drastically. obviously every device is different as is every user experience, but i think its worth a shot. wayy better than battery guru by qualcomm for sure..
here is the link

So it does exactly what the iPhone does in saving a lot of battery life but...(as so many Android fans claim) not being a true multitasker. I came from an iPhone 4 and I'd take this over losing 2-3% of battery life per hour. Too bad it requires root.

If your losing 2-3% an hour its your own fault, choose your apps better. Stock android gets at *least* 2 hours per percent while idle... you installed something you shouldnt have.

Besides no multitasking
The screen is tiny, No location services (Google Now, Maps, etc..)
No Overclocking... There is plenty more.
But if you're loosing 2-3% something is wrong with your phone. My phone last a good 14 hours with about 3-5 hours screen time alone. You're in a website where the majority of the things will need root. Lol

No way does stock android do that well. There are plenty of battery issue threads in this forum, highlighting the unfortunate massive drain. My battery life is, in comparison to most here, better than average. Nonetheless, there is definitely a drain per hour, perhaps closer to 2%. Here are some pics in which I am stock everything including battery.

Answer is in the OP.
Sorry...was hidden under the pics. And I dont have a clue...maybe a little extreme but try putting it on airplane mode for 3 hours see what kinda life you get. What modem are you on?
Get Memory Booster Lite from the Market and look at the Task Killer to see what else is running and may be killing your battery. Uninstall or freeze apps you don't use regularly and see if that helps. Also set all your syncs to manual or the longest time they allow.
You freeze anything? I find the biggest culprits are maps, google plus, Facebook (espeeecially facebook), and some others like drm content and news and weather that are system apks. Also if you have anything for weather or news check your sync times. Also Spareparts battery history can be a useful tool in combatting battery hogs.
Cd's or tapes?
In spare parts, what condition does it list your battery as?

Lost just 20% in 16 hours. This is of course with JuiceDefender and airplane mode scheduled to run over night. But it's still impressive as we used to get battery drains even at times phone was supopsed to sleep and AirPlane mode on.
My baseband is UGKK7, but that's not what cured it, I had this baseband installed days earlier and battery drain was awful.
In my case it appears all battery problems are cured:

What's your standby current draw? In my HD2 android, I had about 4-9ma. But in Galaxy Nexus it's about 19-40ma which is pretty high. Judging from your screenshot, yours is 16ma in standby?
Possibly, I have no idea. Nexus is known from high default cpu voltage, maybe thats that or maybe it's my apps waking phone every now and then to check things, for example LED light notification app or Juice Defender.
Anyway, I'm pretty happy now, might tweak it some more when I have time, but it's now at the same level as my old SGS2, I'd say a bit better (I think I had 5% night drop on AirPlane mode on SGS2, but again it depends on apps).

That's not it, I know battery will go down when I actively use it. What I noticed is that I get great results when phone is idle. This didn't happen before, you would see battery drain even when idle at night in AirPlane mode. This means light use should also give better battery performance than before, I will be testing that.

I dont know what I did but while IDLe, I get about 1% drain per hour, thats on 3G, sync on (gmail, google+, etc), no juicedefender or airplane mode.
I only tested it overnight, when Im sleeping, notice the ZERO wake locks and crappy signal; unbelievable!
Disclaimer: this was while I was sleeping, NO usage. Battery obviously goes down much quicker once the screen is on, but for idle time, I am content!

It is not useless info. Previously, when putting in AirPlane mode and not using the phone at all we would see big battery drain. Now we don't. This is to proove that now the phone actually goes to sleep whenever I don't use it. This is proper testing before and after applying one change.

I will know next time I go to work. But since I never use it for all these 8-10 hours straight, I should have better battery, because whenever I will put the phone away, even for another 15mins, battery will stop dropping like it used to.
In other words, it will most likely still drop as usual while actively using the phone, but in overall I should get more battery because of much more efficient idle times.
Ummm.... full to %29 in 2.15 hours with the screen off the whole time. Any insight?

Sucky battery is the only pitfall of the GN IMO.
Any chance of testing another battery? This could be a hardware (battery) issue rather than software and rogue apps.
I had a battery do this on another device... Less than two hours of non-usage and it would die. Replacing it solved my problem.

Like most other powerful Android devices, it really depends on your usage. It's real easy to burn through the battery if you use your device heavily. It's also pretty simple to get decent battery life if you use the device more reasonably.
I will say that the drainage in the OP looks quite aggressive. I wouldn't consider that normal or average by any means.

as he got the phone a few hours ago maybe a little early to tell? anyone asking about battery life please come back in about 1 week time and we will have some relevant information to share. Even then the information will be tainted with "new phone" usage and not normal usage. Come back in a month or two for really accurate information.
I totally understand people wanting to manage expectations when it comes to battery life and not disclosing any info until decent testing has been done, but I don't think its unreasonable to at least see a few initial observations on battery life?

Related to this, the manual says only use the official charger. I've got a New Trent external battery. I s there danger of it doing any harm?
I get at least 5h on screen time with my desire z on 40% screen brightness. Mainly on WiFi checking xda and web browsing.
I'd hope for 4h on the HOX but its not looking great. It's still a bit worrying that a slightly older device can still beat the newer devices.

No, there's no danger. They simply want to limit damage to the battery by cheap Hong Kong Ebay chargers which don't regulate the voltage very well. You should be fine with a battery pack.

I don't agree, HTC customers have always complained of battery life - but they have always been better than the samsung galaxy phones that I'm used to.
HTC announced they have made battery life a higher priority in this device.
I can't find the link, but they also said it should be 'upto' 60% better than sensation.
Comparing it to the Galaxy Nexus, technology wise - this phone should at least be better than that phone.
CPU has its 4+1 technology
SLCD2 should use less power over Amoled
Bigger battery over the galaxy nexus.
So at least, I expect it to better its competition in the Galaxy Nexus.

HTC have embargoed all reviews until Monday. They are not going to be drawn into confirming or denying anything before then based only on unscientific impressions gained by a handful of users after only on one or two days usage. They will comment about battery life if the published reviews highlight there is a problem following several days controlled usage of the phone.
Seems jb batt life is pretty bad. 2%/hr idle. Alot of wake locks also from maps and networklocator. :Im assuming all from google now?
Noticed that over the last 24 hours battery life was worse than usual while I was on jellybean. Think you are probably right that Google now is the culprit, I really hope that it gets better before the ota but at the moment it just doesn't seem like it will be worth "upgrading".

Well, it must be Google Now. I turned it off and my battery is relatively the same as it was before. When using background location update, you can expect it to drain battery a little. Google Now uses your location data quite a bit.

Even though its just a Dev preview and to early to comment on this, I think its about the same on ICS if not better.
Completely stock , not even rooted.

If you are getting bad battery life and wake issues, check your apps. I've heard LightFlow was causing wakelocks b/c it isn't optimzied for JB yet. I've deleted it until they can get it updated. So far, my battery life hasn't been great b/c I can't keep my hands off of it
Yeah, I would agree that battery life seems pretty good. It seems a little worse on Franco.kernel than stock, but hey, it's a new kernel and he is still trying to get all the kinks worked out. Also, no wakelocks on Light Flow, but I hope they update it soon, lots of my notifications stopped working.
Ehh I don't think its terrible at 2% an hour. Better than 10% an hour. I'll take a little drain for the beauty of JB

IMO I think it's draining a little fast, but I think that's because I keep flashing kernels and add-ons which reboots and causes the battery to drain super fast... and I've been messing with apps a lot too. So I'm gonna give it another day or two for a definitive answer.

Well, it must be Google Now. I turned it off and my battery is relatively the same as it was before. When using background location update, you can expect it to drain battery a little. Google Now uses your location data quite a bit.

I don't understand what people expect??? They want to have an awesome huge screen, fast processor, 4G speeds, want to run apps like crazy and then have Google Now constantly updating and expect the battery to last all day?? People just need to be realistic!
I'm completely stock and my battery is almost the same. Think it's a bit early to tell yet, we've all been playing more with the new rom

I am under the impression that the drain is slightly higher than on ICS, I am now 5,5 hours after charging, with 88% left (and a screen time of 18mins). On ICS I would be around 90 to 93% (with the 2000mAh battery). But nothing really to worry about.
Having said that, I did have lightflow installed and it did show in the wakelock screen, so I uninstalled that to see if the next charge gives me even better endurance.
