I'm having a breakdown. - Epic 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I hear everyone talk about their AMAZING battery life, well. I'm always f'ed. Finally I took screenshots to show you what I deal with. This is an everyday thing, on every setup I try. Every rom, every kernel. My life does not vary from rom to rom ANY. What's up with this?

Answer is in the OP.

Sorry...was hidden under the pics. And I dont have a clue...maybe a little extreme but try putting it on airplane mode for 3 hours see what kinda life you get. What modem are you on?

Get Memory Booster Lite from the Market and look at the Task Killer to see what else is running and may be killing your battery. Uninstall or freeze apps you don't use regularly and see if that helps. Also set all your syncs to manual or the longest time they allow.

You freeze anything? I find the biggest culprits are maps, google plus, Facebook (espeeecially facebook), and some others like drm content and news and weather that are system apks. Also if you have anything for weather or news check your sync times. Also Spareparts battery history can be a useful tool in combatting battery hogs.
Cd's or tapes?

In spare parts, what condition does it list your battery as?

I wouldn't without sending a notice to all parents saying your doing so. First grandma that died because some kid didn't get a text from mom is going to cost your job.

A teacher did that at my High School and she almost got fired. I wouldn't recommend that if you'd like to keep your job.

sent from my epic. thanks samung for the damn key skips

I usuall don't freeze anything. I don't have weather or news I delete those. I flashed hawk last night and did the superfreeze thing. I'm hoping that helps. I'm going to start off with a full battery today and have spare parts maybe I can find something. I don't use the facebook app either, I use friendcaster. 100000x better and faster IMO

There is....it's an app called Video Live Wallpaper, making video your wallpaper does have obvious device performance trade offs but it's not nothing too serious. Check it out.
Thank you. I downloaded the app, but it's not showing on my apps list I deleted LauncherPro to see if that was the issue, but using TW didn't find it either. I've reset and still no luck, yet when I go into AppMonster, it says it's installed, but I can't launch it.
EDIT: Got onto the makers website and figured out that I needed to go into the Live Wallpapers like I did before and go from there. Thanks again.
Kind of got one made. Had to use the download app mentioned in the thread, but i think it came out pretty well.

Oooooh. Ok, so I a an android n00b. Nothing to see here, move along folks. Seriously, what screen was he looking at when he took the screen shot? As I spent 20 minutes trying to bring up that screen by pressing the power button and home button at the same time. At least I am not as bad as the guy who couldnt figure out how to open his brand new notebook because the manufacturer's logo was upside down (so it is right side up when the notebook is open and running) and he called Amazon and then the manufacturer for support before figuring it out. Left all of this information in a review that was captured on an Epic Fail website.

Any good apps to manage battery life?

And no I'm not talking about Juice Defender. I'm looking for something that'll allow me to see which apps are keeping the phone awake and use the most battery life. Something is making my battery drain and I'm not sure what it is. There are people on here going 18+ hours with 5 hours screen time and still having 10% left. I typically get 2 hours of screen time before I'm dead. Check out my stats from today. I hardly even used the phone at all!
I've set all of the apps I actually use to sync on 1 hour or longer intervals. Nothing is syncing in 5 minute intervals or something.

Your weak cell signal might be the culprit.
I haven't seen the battery drop that much due to no signal, it does but not by that much in that time. I would use BetterBatteryStats to diagnose...

I was very frustrated with battery life too until I flashed Gummy's NEX ROM. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1401633) I now can go at least 18 hrs on a single charge with the bigger battery and average to heavy usage.
Bit off topic, but is the GN generally good for battery? Or do a lot of people get the issue from the first post?

Sucky battery is the only pitfall of the GN IMO.
Any chance of testing another battery? This could be a hardware (battery) issue rather than software and rogue apps.
I had a battery do this on another device... Less than two hours of non-usage and it would die. Replacing it solved my problem.

Like most other powerful Android devices, it really depends on your usage. It's real easy to burn through the battery if you use your device heavily. It's also pretty simple to get decent battery life if you use the device more reasonably.
I will say that the drainage in the OP looks quite aggressive. I wouldn't consider that normal or average by any means.

Greenify!

not my app, i stumbled across this app referenced here in xda somewhere. it puts any user apps in hibernation until they are called, reducing background processes from wut i can tell so far..drastically. obviously every device is different as is every user experience, but i think its worth a shot. wayy better than battery guru by qualcomm for sure..

If your losing 2-3% an hour its your own fault, choose your apps better. Stock android gets at *least* 2 hours per percent while idle... you installed something you shouldnt have.

Besides no multitasking
The screen is tiny, No location services (Google Now, Maps, etc..)
No Overclocking... There is plenty more.
But if you're loosing 2-3% something is wrong with your phone. My phone last a good 14 hours with about 3-5 hours screen time alone. You're in a website where the majority of the things will need root. Lol

No way does stock android do that well. There are plenty of battery issue threads in this forum, highlighting the unfortunate massive drain. My battery life is, in comparison to most here, better than average. Nonetheless, there is definitely a drain per hour, perhaps closer to 2%.
