as he got the phone a few hours ago maybe a little early to tell? anyone asking about battery life please come back in about 1 week time and we will have some relevant information to share. Even then the information will be tainted with "new phone" usage and not normal usage. Come back in a month or two for really accurate information.
I totally understand people wanting to manage expectations when it comes to battery life and not disclosing any info until decent testing has been done, but I don't think its unreasonable to at least see a few initial observations on battery life?
I've already pre-ordered, but won't be getting it until 10 days from now. I'd like to see someone's initial impressions on battery usage over an hour watching movies/surfing/etc...
I don't need exact battery life info, just about screen-on time for first from 100% to 0-10%

we just want an ideia about battery life not a review ...
just an ideia about battery usage and drain ...
battery life only ??? GOOD OR BAD ????
thanks
how on earth is someone meant to say how long the battery life lasts after having it for half a day?
he probably used it continuously and if he's like me he'd have waited for it to do a full drain before plugging it in
Or perhaps this is the moment when we could know how long is the max screen on time since ppl r using it like crazy as its a new phone. Lol

Blah, screen-on time from like 100% to 50%, no need to give anything else, that's is not hard to tell if you have used it half a day.

agree, just for rough idea for self comparison, e.g. my DHD 100% - 50% only like 3 hours with constant use - videos etc with auto brightness (shocking i know) hopefully the 1x is gonna be double that

any news of battery life daily use ?
thanks
Related to this, the manual says only use the official charger. I've got a New Trent external battery. I s there danger of it doing any harm?
I get at least 5h on screen time with my desire z on 40% screen brightness. Mainly on WiFi checking xda and web browsing.
I'd hope for 4h on the HOX but its not looking great. It's still a bit worrying that a slightly older device can still beat the newer devices.

New toy syndrome combined with a new battery taking about two Weeks to reach max performance, means it'll be a while before an accurate idea of average battery life emerges.

No, there's no danger. They simply want to limit damage to the battery by cheap Hong Kong Ebay chargers which don't regulate the voltage very well. You should be fine with a battery pack.

I don't agree, HTC customers have always complained of battery life - but they have always been better than the samsung galaxy phones that I'm used to.
HTC announced they have made battery life a higher priority in this device.
I can't find the link, but they also said it should be 'upto' 60% better than sensation.
Comparing it to the Galaxy Nexus, technology wise - this phone should at least be better than that phone.
CPU has its 4+1 technology
SLCD2 should use less power over Amoled
Bigger battery over the galaxy nexus.
So at least, I expect it to better its competition in the Galaxy Nexus.

HTC have embargoed all reviews until Monday. They are not going to be drawn into confirming or denying anything before then based only on unscientific impressions gained by a handful of users after only on one or two days usage. They will comment about battery life if the published reviews highlight there is a problem following several days controlled usage of the phone.

I've been using mine for a month or so.. Theoretically you should get about 20% more battery.
Tbh I don't notice much difference. But always nice to have a spare battery.
I have been using the original extended battery kit and i get easily an extra of 1 hour of screen time. It's just perfect.
Only one hour ?????
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App
not much different for me.. 10%-20% xtra.. heavy user here..
I've been using my 2000MAh batter for the last week and it's awesome.
On light days where I don't do much on my phone, I get about just over 2 days of battery.
On heavy days, I usually get enough to carry me to the evening with about 20% left, which is better than the previous 5% with the stock.
People must get crazy battery with 3500MAh batteries, but it probably ruins the aesthetics of the phone.

Ok guys..so today morning i have recieved my 2000mh official battery by samsung.. I charged it for 2 hours i pluged in at 1 pm and it was fully charged within 2 hours as it was already 58% charged when i unpacked it...so finally 3 pm to 12 Am till now i am still left with 10% battery which is another 1 hour..all i can say is overall good performance as compare to 1650mh battery..so mate dont think twice go for it as the backcover is also very fit to the device ..you won't feel much bulk at the back as it has been slightly increased by samsung and it goes with the design. ..for pictures upload and further details please feel free to reply to this message...

I use the stock 2000mah battery. I can get about 4hrs on average of screen on time with CM9 or stock ICS(mostly using wifi, but 3g is on when I go out). If i don't use it much, easy 1.5 days with about 1.5 hrs screen on time. This battery provide enough power for me to get through one day. I have a habit of charging before I go sleep. So after I use this 2000mah, I no longer worry about battery in the evening.

I think it's almost mandatory to have the original 2000mAh battery of this phone.
With it on and a good value for the rom got a good life.
Battery life goes down 1% every minute the screen is on... This is rediculous. I'm running the latest franco kernel + liquid rom.
Uhhh cool story? Use your phone an entire day and post your battery stats when you're at < 5% battery left. Then we can talk about your actual battery life...
Let me bite this troll bait.
I'm sure this phone doesn't last 1.5hours, i'm sure mine doesn't.

You should be getting around 4 hours of screen on time, try different kernels if you don't achieve near this. I get 5+ hours everyday usign my set up, just look around at countless other thread to get an idea of what you can do.

Which kernels besides franco give good battery life?
If you're getting 1.5 hours battery life then you're NOT using your phone, period. This is a smart phone, if you can manager more than 1 hour then you probably should have kept your StarTAC.
Edit: read a few more posts, wasn't troll bait it turns out.
As someone mentioned earlier in the thread, wakelocks are one avenue to explore. Install Better Battery Stats and follow the instructions/procedures, etc... from its thread here on XDA.

If you are on 3g/4g and a verizon nexus on stock battery...2 hrs screen time is normal. Get used to it. Sorry. My wife's on stock 4.0.2 does exactly that. Pathetic. We bought an extended battery. Still might get in the 4 hour range. I love the nexus but damn the battery is terrible. I get 6-7 hrs screen on time on my maxx using 3g/4g. Today she got close to 4 hrs but it was a 4g/Wi-Fi mix.
Verizon nexus on 3g gets around 2 hrs screen on time if you actually are using data and keeping everything synced like a smartphone should be able to do.

Gsm gnex (europe) on 4.0.4 gives between 4-5 h screen-ON time on stock setup and 1750mAh battery. Way to go verizon and LTE for ruining the phone's reputation. Most of the people reporting issues here on the forums are verizon or sprint users.

Why don't you make a list of each rom you want to try, then take the time to flash each one and run each for about a week. Since battery life and performance is directly related to each users set up and personal style of use. This way in about 4 or 5 weeks you can actually make a determination on your own as to what is best for you.

In the middle of the graph, it goes from red all the way up to ~85%. The green bar below the graph also shows how long it's been charging which is DEFINITELY not 30 seconds.
best battery life is very subjective to the user. and remember that the display on this phone is power hungry to say the least. i hope that very soon all phones will come out with non removable batteries. people that need extra power can carry a portable power pack instead of an extra battery. and for those who complain about the longevity of the battery have obviously never used a phone with built in battery or done their research and are simply relying on that crutch of being able to swap the battery just because they can.
WOW...anyway....my point when i started this was that no one can tell you what works best for you...you have to figure that out on your own.

You can clearly see the green charging bar in the middle, not to mention the fact that battery graphs don't go up by themselves.

I then tried Slim ROM with the same kernel and the battery life was ok...I'm now using the Samurai Kernel and I'm liking it!

is in fact what I would do with this thread is to gather a bit 'of screen and then publish them on the start page so as to assist new users in selecting the ROM according to their needs, then of course every result will be based on usage of 'but if you can get many statistics can make an average of everyone!
I'm getting such bad battery drain when the screen is on its ridiculous. I've taken some screenshots from Gsam and as you can see at times I'm losing 5% battery over ten minutes of screen on time. I'm not gaming or doing anything cpu intensive and the screen brightness is set to 25%.. What sort of battery drain are others experiencing when the screen is on?

I am pretty disappointed. I had a Z2 then Z3. IMO you haven't experienced great battery life until you've used one of these phones. It's really unbelievable. I couldn't kill it in a day, period. It's really hard going backwards. I don't care how fast a battery charges or whether it's removable, there is simply no substitute for a phone you take off charge in the morning and run all day with zero thought to the battery until you plug it in at night. For me with the G4 battery is crazy bad with screen on and almost as appalling screen off. With the Z2 and 3 if I didn't use my phone much say during the morning at work it would have 90% left at lunch time. Or even streaming Pandora all day barely touched it. Same for this phone I'm already down to 70% without using it by lunch. In this reply I've lost 6% so far. I think all the comments talking about turning off WiFi, and lower brightness etc are all BS. To me, that's not using the phone. It's not making my day and my business easier if I'm constantly worried about battery life.
I've found that the avg screen time no matter what is 3-4 hours. I get 19hrs on my battery on avg and always get between 3-4 hrs of screen on time. Having that spare battery is a major help.
I miss my turbo for it had minimum 5hrs sot and over. Still getting used to this battery life on my g4
Mine has gotten better after a few cycles. The screen off drain is extremely low, which makes up for screen on drain in my case.
On my Z3v, I was amazed at screen on time - but the battery would just drain at 10%/hour pretty commonly - so even though i could get 5hrs of screen on - it would still only last for a day. With the G4, I use it all day when I need to, and then after two days I need to charge it. Not to mention I got 5hrs SOT yesterday.
I wonder if anyone will develop a 4k Mah battery that fits in roughly the same size back? I've seen 6k already... but I dont need that much. Just a bump more will help.

I wonder if anyone will develop a 4k Mah battery that fits in roughly the same size back? I've seen 6k already... but I dont need that much. Just a bump more will help.

What do you count as a cycle? Mine is still crap after owning the phone for weeks.

Recharge cycles, letting it get low enough that It needs to shut down and then charging it back up with the stock charger.
Others have reported similar, and others have also mentioned doing a factory reset if you haven't tried that.
Overall I agree with the barely average life. Especially with this phone - I'd rather they make it .5mm thicker and put a bigger batter to allow for real all day phone use of calls, email, etc.

So all this talk about battery... Some early reviews said 5 to 6 hours battery life. While that is good, it isn't outstanding or anything. Sony been doing that for years and the S7 with the same processor, same battery and crazy amounts of bloat gets the same amount. Anyone have anything to share?
Will check battery life as soon as I got my device. Let's wait and see how it'll do the job.

should help give some light about the battery, for me looks good enough!
Forget about the "rundown tests" as those dont show real use. Pocketnow said 4.5 hours of SOT in a day. Thats horrible for a battery of this size.

Honestly, I am not worried about battery life that much as long as the phone has fast charging feature. I have fast charging charger in office and home and heck, I can even get another for car if I want to. As long as battery life is okay, I am fine with it. Now, if I was to buy a phone without fast charging feature like iphone, that will be a completely different story.

I think the QHD Display is the Biggest Battery Drain. On my G3 I get also 4-5 SOT. Although I like the HTC 10 but I would like to get a better Battery life on a New phone as on my old one....
any updates on battery life?

Well doh, there's your problem.
WiFi + LTE at the same time is quite taxing and not even talking about the SoC load of the phone acting as a router.

I saw a review saying it equals Note 5 battery life, of 5 to 6 hrs Screen On time.

thats not good at all considering the Note 5 have a higher brightness threshold...matter of fact, HTC 10 got the lowest brightness nit I recently remember. seems like thats how HTC trying to save battery.
I've only got past 3 hours SOT on my MXP a few times, it averages at around 2.5 so this is great news for me hah.
With my usage I'm having 4h of sot

5-6 hours of SOT time isn't good at all?
The only phone I've had that was able to pull off a consistent 5-6 hrs of SOT time while lasting 24 hrs was the Note 2. I'll happily take 5-6 hrs of SOT and a full day of usage all day everyday.
Better not be 5-6 hours average... S7e for me if that happens.
Crappy untweaked M8 with everything running gives me that for years.
