I just got a software update from T-mobile and I am not sure if I'm missing out on something and should I do the update since my phone is rooted and I don't want to lose my root. I'm currently on T999UVDLJA. Is there a root for this update yet or should I just wait a couple days and see what happens?

that update is from January & it wasn't anything major
I just downloaded the pre-rooted Root66 version of the firmware and flashed it via Odin.
I tried to look fror a root66 version of the firmware on this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1949687
but the latest firmware is T999UVDLJA which is the one I'm on. Do i just do the update and flash T999UVDLJA again?

You can find it in this thread.
You can try the "update only" file since it will save you some downloading - but just read to see if it applies to you. I couldn't so I just used the full firmware and then de-bloated.
I'll just flash the root66 rom just to be safe. I could flash UVLJC directly from VULJC correct? And thank you very much for the help.

You mean UVDLJC form UVDLJA ? Yes, it should be fine, I did that and just cleared the caches.

I've rooted my CDMA Nexus and flashed to the leaked stock 4.0.4 update.
Will it be possible to update at all using normal methods or will I need to flash via rootkit again?

Has this already been answered?

Root is no problem. A non Stock recovery is, as well as a custom ROM. But you can always flash it manualy in stead of doing through the OTA process.

So i rooted my phone a few months back but im still stock, im on 4.0.4 and because if been rooted, i've skipped two updates. What can i do to make the update go through? i still wanna be stock but i know this update jellybean, which i want.
I've read having root blocks the update. There's a rooted version of the stock update in the dev section you can install.

So what's it called, I've been away from the scene for a long while.
All you need to do is download kies and under one of the menus is an option to emergency stock recovery this will take you to both the latest version and restore your phone to completely stock

Somewhere along me flashing differnet ROMs on my sprint note 2 (after I did odin back to stock mc2 and re-rooted the build changed from mc2 to lJ1....question is should I reflash stock rom and start over or whats the difference?

Take a screenshot of your about phone section. Having different number though doesnt necessarily mean there will be a problem. For instance I am on an ma7 rom and have an mc2 baseband. Everything is working fine.

Here it is...its stayed LJ1 from synergy to this one

Do you remember the base stock rom that was used for 1.5.2? Because the last update was ma5. If everything is working for you then there is no problem. Although that base is old. You can always use one of the zips to update your firmware. Or if you want to get up to date you can use the firmware files or odin a stock rom then flash a new rom. Basically if it isnt broken dont fix it.

I am looking for an official update, i have rooted and managed to get omnirom running.
I need an official rom because i need to be able to sync with Kies. I dont care about loosing root.
I have tried the rooted official roms but odin can't sem to make them load, they wont load in twrp either.
I can do twrp and firmware but not roms through odin.
Thanks for any help
Jim

Hey, so I just got a S4 used and it's running 4.3.
What's the best course of action? Should I update to latest stock for updated bootloader and modem? Or is it better to root and install custom roms right away? And maybe flash the bootloader and modem afterwards?
Thanks!

Just update it to the the latest and then go from there. Latest is NH7 4.4.4
Hmm, I just checked for a OTA update and it said it was up to date with only 4.3.
Sent from my LG Optimus G using Tapatalk
Guess I'll have to use kies.
Sent from my LG Optimus G using Tapatalk
Odin is better. Just download the NH7 firmware from the general thread and flash it with Odin
Kies just finished. Booting now. And downloading odin to install CWM and root.

Make sure you are on NH7.. And you don't have to root if you're gonna flash custom ROMs, just flash recovery and flash the ROM
Baseband version ends with NH7. And too late. Lol. Already rooted. Downloading Insane V4. I have Phil's latest touch CWM as my recovery.

Cool. If you have problems try twrp instead
Will do.
