OK,This method for install flashable ROM, mod, tweaks, and etc. CMIIW
but for baseband is different.
if you want to flash another baseband, you must flash it use ODIN like you flash a Stock ROM. you can ekstract your country baseband from your country Stock ROM (use cygwin).
but, you can find already ekstracted baseband in Android Development section..

I get stuck in SetupConnection when I use Odin

[Q] Any advice for me towards installing Custon ROM's

Hey everyone.
I own a Samsung Galaxy Gio GT-S5660M With Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread that I got from Bell Aliant Along With a Motorola Xoom Wifi Canadian That I bought at Wal-Mart one day.
I am intrested in flashing Custom Roms onto My Samsung Galaxy Gio Gt-S5660M. I have Rooted and Installed ClockworkMod on my Samsung Galaxy Gio Gt-S5660M. I have recently been looking up stuff on how to install them onto my Samsung Galaxy Gio Gt-S5660M. I recently attempted to install Android 4.0.3 Ice cream Sandwich onto it. and I realized that I installed the wrong one because it was for the S5660M Model Not the GT-S5660M, Resulting into a boot failure. as the screen would fade out to black when booting to the Operating System. I was still able to access the Recovery mode (I never Had ClockworkMod Installed at that time) and the Custom ROM Download mode (Vol Down + Home + Power button) but it would fail to connect to my PC (Windows 7 Home Premium & Ubuntu Linux 64-bit) So Later on I told my dad about it and he sent it to bell Aliant to get it fixed. And now I would like to know how I can install a custom ROM and If I ever come across this problem again, how can i solve it without taking it to Bell Aliant to get fixed (Since it's a software related issue)
Thank You For reading and I hope to hear a reply for someone.
When you flash a rom it is very important to do a backup before hand. You sound like your new to this so your in the right place. Whenever you do a back up and you run into a problem like the one you ran in to, it's very simple to restore back to its original state. Also, most companies won't cover software issues once they figure out your rooted. So you might run in to a problem with your company. My advice is to read read read read and ask as many questions as possible before doing anything to your phone you aren't sure about.

Some more things, it is very useful for you to download ROM MANAGER and TITANIUM BACKUP from the app store. These two apps are life savers when you run in to the problem you had. Also read on how to use clock work mod recovery. Try to get very acquainted with that program as it will be ure main life saver in any situation.

hold the power button, the volume down button, and the HOME button at the same time, when the phone is off. then use a tutorial on how to flash roms with ODIN, download a rom from sammobile.com
Here's some ROM's that I am interested in installing:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1414173&page=435
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1659450
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1708383
Would I install them something like this?:
1. Download & Place this rom on your root sdcard
2. Go to recovery mode
3. Install zip from sdcard, install rom (cwm) | Install menu, install rom (RZR)
4. Wait till installation completed
5. Reboot
7. Reboot & Play
also about Rom Manager, I read this Thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1706999
but I can't get the "GT-s5660m" Option to show up on it. Maybe it's the M on the end of it
After the installation is finished, you need to do a factory reset, then reboot.
Otherwise you cant boot.
And for cm9 it may be required to have atleast a gingerbrea2.3.x rom

I have Android 2.3.4 on it will that work?
Also how can I backup my Stock rom on it as well.
I noticed a backup and restore option in Clockworkmod as well (I have Version 5.0.2.6) Will that work incase I mess up again?
First of all, do not use ROM Manager to install CWM, you will brick the device doing so.
The nandroid backup function in CWM should work, but having a working Odin install with your Odin-flashable stock ROM backup is always a nice plus.
While I don't have one personally, there have been reports on here of the same USB jig (a micro USB connector with the appropriate resistor between pins 4 and 5) used on the Galaxy S Vibrant working on the Gio as well. This is if it doesn't want to go into download mode anymore.
These are a few gotchas with flashing ROMs on the Gio I can think of right now:
-Don't flash the Euro baseband on the 5660M and vice versa. (The AMSS image in Odin tar files)
-Be sure to have your partitions in the appropriate file system format, and CWM to go with it. I'm talking about ext4 and Samsung's stock, and proprietary RFS format.
If you have the usual MUGK3 stock ROM all Canadian 5660Ms have been delivered with, install CWM (via Odin, or with root and the dd command), format to ext4 and install the latest CM9 nightly zip file. Nothing more to it really.

I am not going to use ROM Manager to begin with. as my device is not listed.
I used the recovery to install Clockworkmod (CWM)
Also I noticed that some ROMs are strictly for S5660M Not the GT-S5660M.
If I want to Install a Rom That For the GT-S5660 Does it Matter if it has the "M" in the name of my model? as in GT-S5660M
Also is it possible to flash zip files with odin?
Or has the ROM only have to be in tar format?
One last thing
Well, Before I start flashing (Because I'm pretty close to knowing now)
I am going to post 5 final questions before I begin:
1) Does it matter about my Model code for a ROM?
EX: ROM Made for the S5660 or GT-S5660 And I want to Install it on my GT-S5660M
2) If I Come across the problem I had earlier that caused me to take it to bell to get it fixed, Will the Nandroid Backup & Restore fix it?
3) Is it possible to mess up installing a ROM that the phone is inaccessible to the Recovery & ROM Flasher?
4)If I forget to Factory reset my phone while installing a ROM, can I go back to the recovery and factory reset and reboot?
5)If I Choose to install this ROM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1414173
Can I install it on my GT-S5660M since I have Android 2.3.4?
If I Choose the Other 2 I mentioned:

1 .zip files that you flash via recovery can be flashed easily, thats fine
Just watch out with odin roms like gioprio, they contain a baseband and you will have no service, but can easily be solved by flashing a m model baseband
2 I think not
3 no, unless you do it terribly wrong
Flashed 20+ roms and nothing bricked
4 yes.
Make sure partitions are ext4.. This can be done with ext4formatter zip or installing for example cm7 rom first, than cm9.
Just stay on gingerbread, android 2.3 or higher
2.3.3 or 2.3.4 doesnt make a difference

So you're saying that I should install Cm7 and then CM9?
Would It matter if I choose CM7 or CM7.2?
and you're also saying I should install a ROM that has Android 2.3.X instead of one with Android 4.0.X?
OH! I forgot to ask one last question:
Where can I get a Stock ROM For my GT-S5660M?
Can I get it off my phone or would I have to download it off a website?
Yea I know I may asking a lot of questions, I just want to know how I can install a ROM properly without bricking it.
as for the last 2 ROMs i mentioned earlier, the process is the same eh?
I just need the most information that I can get.
Hi there.
There is a compiled list of all ROMs for the 5660 and 5660m Gio in the development area.
the Stock Rom for 5660M (The GT is nothing to worry about) is this link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1385874
There are a few other custom roms made only for the 5660M.
You can absolutely use a rom that is s5560, but note:
If you are selecting a Rom that is flashed using odin, always open the .tar using winzip or 7zip and just check for a file called amss ... this is the broadband file which would cause you to lose your phone signal. if you want to use the ROM, remove that amss file.
is you are flashing a rom through clockwordmod, these don't change the broadband.
so you can freely use any of those ones, such as cm7, 7.1, 7.2 9 or other based on stock roms.
Cyanogenmod (cm) requires the internal file system to be ext4, where as most Rom based on stock can use either rfs (stock file system) or some do support ext4 internal for a bit of increased speed.

About this Ext4formatter.zip that voetbalremco mentioned, where can I get it to, would I do this before installing the rom or after installing the ROM?
I know that I need to wipe cache partition, factory reset, and wipe Dalvik cache.

Exformatter.zip
You use it before installing, same thing with the wipes.
By the way, this ext4formatter is a one time event.
Once it is done, its done.
The wiping is every time before you install a different rom.
WOOT!!!!!
I got CyanogenMod 7.2 sucessfully installed!!!
Thank you guys so much!!
Also I have a question:
If I ever want to upgrade from CyanogenMod 7.2 to CyanogenMod 9, How would I do it?

[Q] Is this how it is to be done ?

Hi Guys,
Lets say I have installed the latest stable release from Cyanogemod 10.1.3 on my GT-N7100 now if I wish to return to factory defaults and I follow the following procedure will it workout ? The steps have been mentioned in the order they ill be performed:
1. install TA on CM 10.1.3 and run it to reset counter and instead of booting normally, I will boot to download mod from the options provided by TA. -------->(This step is in accordance to Dr.Ketan as he has only mentioned here that one can install TA on his existing custom ROM and proceed.)
2. I will arrange myself a NON-ROOTED stock firmware/ROM from Dr.Ketan's repository and flash the same using PC ODIN in download mode. Now when the phone reboots and if I get stuck in a boot loop then I have to do wipe\data or factory reset (right...??)
3. if everything works out well I should now have stock ROM on my GT-N7100 and CWM will also get removed except it might leave traces behind on my SD card which I can remove by formatting the SD.
4. Now if the status is modified, I will have to clear data from enterprisescope and sysscope. This step GUARANTEES that my device status will change to NORMAL.
5. Wallahh!! Now I should have a completely factory manufactured device ready to use.
Now the confusions that I have are....
1. in order to install CM 10.1.3 I will have to install CWM so does installing CWM remove stock recovery ?
2. when I try to remove CM 10.1.3 do I need to flash stock recovery as well as stock kernel? or by just following the steps that I have mentioned above to recover my device is absolutely correct?
3. do I need to be worried about modem, network connectivity and IMEI No. during this entire episode? How will EFS help me?
4. This is current status of my device:
(i) Build Number : JZO54K.N7100XXDMG1
(ii) Kernel Version : 3.0.31-1071214
[email protected] #1
SMP PREEMPT Mon Jul 1 16:01:15 KST 2013
I hope things will work for this configuration.
5. is there anything else that I must take into consideration and after following all the steps are there still any chances of risking my device?
1.install multitool from my signature and make efs backup and place to secure on PC. (infact this step you have to perform before flashing cm)
To return to stock follow this to letter.
2.install triangle away and after finishing procedure straightway select reboot to download mode (not normal boot otherwise counter will again trigger)
3.straight way flash stock rom. With odin(I recommend mg1)
4.wipe cache and data from recovery
That's it.
Answer to confusion
1.yes
2.no, stock rom includes all
3.no, but before flashing cm install multitool and make backup and place it safely on pc/cloud
4 . Yes
5.no

Thank You very much Doc. :good: it just don't get it if it is really so easy then why do people end up screwing up their devices i mean i don't think if somebody installs a reputed ROM like cyanogenmod or carbonROM..etc then their should not be any risk of corrupting prod. id. or EFS and all those sensitive stuffs. Strange.....

System recovery mode loop

Hello everyone,
I finally could flash my first custom kernel (LuPuS-GBv7-full), but now each time i turn on my phone, it boots into recovery mode. When the lupus bootscreen pops up, the phone vibrates twice, the blue light turns on, then off, then the phone goes into recovery. I have searched for a solution but none works. Please help me out with this one, i cant use my phone at all.
Thanks in advance
Did you wiped system and data partition from fastboot when you flashed lupus kernel? Iit is written in kernel thread with big red "important" word. Then flash your rom from recovery.
Also, did you flashed proper stock firmware first? .62 or. 79
You could always flash stock firmware with flashtool to get working phone

First of all, thank you very much for your reply, it help me a lot and calmed me down in a moment of despair (noob here as you may have already guessed).
Didn't answer right away to try out the stuff you told me and learn some more before asking again.
What I did was this (acording to the thread of the rom i want to install http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2219154):
- Flashed Lupus GB with flashtools
- Boot into recovery
- Wipe data and factory reset
- Wipe Dalvik cache
- Flash the rom (AtoMic GB 7.0 - PLAY r2) I could not flash the device patch and wifi modules as instructed because couldnt find them in the thread.
- Reboot
What I get now is the phone booting into the system, but there is only a black screen with the status bar showing the battery meter, a non functioning wifi icon and the clock. The notifications area works when i drag it down, also the volume with sound and power button. There is nothing else, no app drawer, no icons, nothing.
I even tried the previous steps first flashing this stock rom Xperia Play_3.0.1.B.0.285_AT&T (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1768599), to get the same results.
My phone is a R800at, if this matters.
I kindly ask again for help to get the rom working propperly.
Thanks to your advice I could get my phone working again with a stock rom, but I really, really want to get this working, I dont like the stock rom, like most people around here dont, I suppose.
Thanks again
You are doing things right, but black screen means launcher doesn't work, but it's ROM related problem. I can't help you there much because i never used that rom.
You should try other roms. You could download few of them, place on sdcard and test and see wich one suit your taste.
I can only help you with few tips in problems that you could might find:
-"flashing" patches or modules means flashing from recovery with "install from sd card" option. Some rom makers make versions for more then one phone, so they just copy/paste text in thread, and if you can't see patches for download, it means it is already patched in newer version.
- Doomlord kernel need flashing wifi modules and you can find them in doomlord kernel thread. It use stock partition layout (system 310MB, data 380MB) so it will work if your previous kernel was stock one.
-Lupus kernel have wifi modules integrated, so no need for flashing them. But it have different partition layout (system 280MB, data 640MB), so you need to delete (wipe) system and data partition from fastboot if your previous kernel used stock partition layout. Also, use. 62 or .79 firmware because only on that firmware is possible to have bigger data partition.
-Always make sure that you are using kernel that match rom you are trying to flash. Read in rom's thread for compatible kernel
Sent from my R800i using xda app-developers app
All set!
Thanks very much for the patience and everything, i think the trick was to install first the stock rom and then a kernel and rom compatible to use with this stock rom. Everything works perfect now, thanks again!

You probably changed something you shouldn't have. Wiping data/cache can only remove the apps you used to alter things, but it won't touch the system files or kernel files you have already altered. You need flash the ROM or firmware that you are using again to get your files back to normal. Make sure you backup your data first.
com.android.systemui has stopped for grand i9082
Hi,
I had upgraded from 4.2 to 4.4.4 as mentioned in the link (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2603219)
I have flashed the custom ROM (CYANOGENMOD) on my samsung galaxy grand i9082,
I was able to use this ROM perfectly for a weeks time.
But when I had changed the clock details (center alignment & Font)
I got the "Unfotunately com.android.systemui has stopped",
To resolve this I had done a hard reset (fornatted data/cache/dalvik cache and reinstalled the ROM)
but now I am getting this showstopper error during the first boot itself - I have not even been able to open the App drawer or settings menu.
Please help.

Download your tar file for stock rom from sammobile.com Download Odin.
Unzip the zip file to get tar. Go to download mode in phone and connect to PC. Open Odin and put the tar file in PDA. Check only autoreboot and f time reset. Leave others unticked.
Press start and wait for ROM to be flashed. It will take some time( unplug only after it says pass with green light).. After stock ROM is flashed, factory reset again. Then flash your custom recovery and your desired ROM. Remember , while flashing custom ROM, follow the instructions given in the respective thread.
This will be a clean install and the errors will go away, at the cost of your internal data being wiped.

You probably changed something you shouldn't have. Wiping data/cache can only remove the apps you used to alter things, but it won't touch the system files or kernel files you have already altered. You need flash the ROM or firmware that you are using again to get your files back to normal. Make sure you backup your data first.

Optimus G E975 Lucky Rom V1 Kit Kat 4.4.2

Hello everybody This is Lucky Rom V1, based on Korean V30C L. All the credit goes to @hyunhnhan886. I`m just sharing his work.
As always I am not responsible if you brick your device. You are doing this at your own risk.
So, to start off, make sure you`re using jelly bean E975H rom ( http://lg-phone-firmware.com/index.php?id_mod=20 ), that you have an unlocked bootloader (mako method)
( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=edu.shell.freegee_free ) and a working cwm ( i used philz touch cwm https://drive.google.com/folderview...sharing&tid=0B9EFp1W1O3f2SXp2bVcycXpfRkU#list - while downloading make sure to select e975 version )
1. Put the Lucky Rom archive, patch and the europe e975h modem on your internal storage ( links down below )
2. Boot into recovery by turning off your phone and holding volume up + power button > scroll down two times until you see "Recovery" and press Power button
3. In Philz CWM select wipe data/factory reset ( DO NOT select "install a new rom" ), wipe cache and dalvik cache
4. Go to "Install zip" > "Install zip from sd card" > find your ROM archive and flash it
5. Go to "mounts and storage" and select "mount system", wait a few seconds and then unmount it
6. Once more go to "Install zip" > select patch and flash it
7. After that select e975h_europe modem and flash it, just to be on the safe side
8. Wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache and dalvik cache and boot your phone
I`ve installed the rom without any problems. I haven`t seen any bugs so far. I`m able to charge with the phone turned off. You dont need to unlock the bootloader, it will not give a secure boot error, at least I didnt have that problem. And there is no need to install super su, it comes with the rom.

Im on E97510i, do I have to downgrade to 10h first or can I just simply flash the baseband only after flashing the rom?
Brontok Mate,
I'm currently on v10F. Planning to flash 10H and then flash this. But if we want to revert back to 4.1.2, will we be able to do it with nandroid backup of v10H?. I will be taking nandroid backup immediately after flashing v10H, before flashing this ROM. Because, I see from several users that the signal is very weak in leaked kk ROM's.. Please advice...
Thanks for share @Brontok i had flashed lucky rom other day but did not find it much impressive so reverted back to Sling. Tell me did you find it any better ? It does not have Guest mode slide aside etc. I have a question whats the purpose of this patch ? i had flashed lucky without patch or modem and it worked fine.

It would be better to downgrade and than flash this rom. if you try flashing the modem only please let us know if it worked.

You must flash KDZ jelly bean, do a hard reset, transfer your backup to your phone a than restore it .

It has slide aside, take a look at the settings.
The call forwarding btw doesn't work, is there any good app or a way to make it work?
