Hi,
I was running the stable cm10.1 build for my Verizon Toro, and then decided to restore my stock, rooted 4.1.1 nandroid in order to take the update to 4.2.2 so that I would get the new radios.
Ironically, somewhere in this process I lost service and now everything in the phone status menu is unknown. Then, I flashed the stock image + unroot option in the Nexus root toolkit and lost my nandroids as well. Is there some way that I can regain service and restore my IMEI to the one on my sticker?
Please help me if you can!

So here's the scenario. I've gotten a replacement phone from AT&T and it came with 4.1.2 installed, but now it has 4.1.1 because of a botched Nandroid restore (incoming texts began to disappear, then the ENTIRE TEXT THREAD did. And never reappeared.). So I unrooted and hard wiped, unfortunately to 4.1.1.
Now I'm trying to figure this out: How can I root the replacement, perform a Nandroid restore (from old phone to replacement) so that everything is intact, and then upgrade the phone from 4.1.1 to 4.1.2 after it's been rooted? Obviously the OTA update won't work at that point, and despite searching this board and countless others for hours, I can't find anything that says how to do this in terms that I can understand, as all I've ever done is root stock. I downloaded loserskater's rooted stock 4.1.2 ROM but I certainly don't know what to do with it.
Two days ago i bought Samsung Galaxy Note 2 N7100 (international). It had android 4.1.2 but i saw there is available update. After update to official android 4.3 my phone lost signal and started showing me "Not registered on network". 1 day passed since i am searching how to fix this thing. Tried custom rom (4.4.2) and still the same. I went back to official 4.3 for UK O2 , successfully rooted it, passed knox, installed busybox, installed ARIZA Patch. Still the same. Tried to flash MJ5 bootloader via ODIN but it shows me FAIL. And after every FAIL my phone is bricked so i am flashing all over again official ROM. I have NO backups of my EFS (in my search i saw that i need some EFS to repair this thing). I got no issue with WI-FI but only with network. If i revert back to stock android 4.1.2 will i be able to call somebody? If the answer is "YES", would somebody tell me how? I saw in some threads that with new 4.3 ROM note 2 got knox locked bootloader which is impossible to be downgraded. Please, give me guide step by step what to do to repair my phone by myself. Thank you in advance.
I would suggest you to take an efs backup on 4.1. Then flash 4.3 and if you aren't getting network try restoring your efs backup. That might solve your problem.
Hi, I have just flashed Rooted Note 2 on 4.3 to the latest stock ROM which I downloaded from the SamMobile and now it will not register on the network.
The new version I flashed was the same as the old as i found it with the CSC N7100BTUEMK2 on sam mobile.
I checked the IMEI and it says 00499010640000 in status menu which is different from the one under the battery.
I did not perform a backup of anything as I was not worried about losing any data.
Any ideas what has happened to it and how to get the IMEI correct again?
I understand this is something to do with an efs file but in what way it has become faulty from flashing the same rom I cannot decipher
Any help much appreciated! :good:

From my experience:
1) Reflash the ROM.
2) Flash a custom ROM.
Both worked for me.

Click "Thanks" if I was of any help!
Thanks, I have reflashed the current 4.3 rom UEMK9 and a slightly older UEMK4 with a DEMJ9 radio.
I have tried lots of radios - DM3, XXDME4, XXMI6, XXMJ5, XXMJ2, and some other modem.bin
From what I understand its when you go from newer to older roms that you get IMEI problems, so its prob useless to try pre 4.3
Its all a bit confusing to me and which rom has which radio seems like an arcane mystery.
It is quite possible that I flashed a same version 4.3 rom but my old radio was different and not knowing it was such a minefield on Galaxy phones I never checked that or bothered with a back up.
I may have to resort to paying the people at unlocksamsung online £26 to reset my IMEI
Can anyone tell me, is it just the radio that causes the IMEI problem and should I just trawl through flashing radio zips until my IMEI comes back so I can save the efs file?
BTY everything else seems ok SN is correct and wifi works fine, I just can't get on a network without my correct IMEI
Thx
i also have the same issue on my note 2 gt-n7100 and now phone does no respond to the touch post rooting and all..i am tired of rooting and unrooting the phone like 100 times allready and now my phone is stuck in loop
First of all I have searched for hours on end trying to figure out how to get my Note 2 working again. Some necessary background information, it is an unmodified Sprint Note 2 running 4.4.2. I have never rooted the device or attempted any kind of modification. Apparently the device was attempting a system update and it shut off. It turned itself back on and from there it lost signal and was unable to make calls. Sprint was not helpful at all when I took it to the repair center. They basically told me to go through insurance which for $150 is not worth it for a refurbished Note 2.
I discovered that the phone lost its IMEI, baseband, PRL and all other related nv information. I have tried numerous times to read the phone with NV items reader writer and EFS professional however neither program worked since the phone is not rooted. I really need to get this phone working asap as I have lost many work opportunities due to not being able to receive calls.
I have absolutely no interest in flashing custom roms, modems/radios. I want to keep the phone as close to stock as possible. I dont mind rooting the phone if that will help me restore the IMEI data. Every thread I have read related to losing the IMEI have been related to flashing custom roms and other modifications which is not the case here. I have no tried to use odin yet to restore the phone if possible that way. I have tried to use the skipsoft unified toolkit but it seems it does not support the 4.4.2 firmware yet so there is no way for me to install a clean stock rom with that.
If there is anyway for me to recover/replace/restore my IMEI information without flashing a stock rom that is the route I would like to go.
Would rooting the phone and using nv items reader writer tool to edit the IMEI be all that is necessary to work?

I don't know how you can fix your phone yourself, but if it was me I'd be flipping out at your sprint store. I'm not a "Sprint-basher" (love my phone, love my service) but you have an un-modified phone that went to hell on a OTA. if I screw up my phone that's my fault. But, in your case it was sprint's phone and sprint's OTA that caused the problem. Personally, I'd harass the crap out of them...

Anyone? Will flashing the stock .tar through odin restore the imei?
I just bought a rooted galaxy s3 on virgin mobile, but now that its rooted I can nt activate it on the virgin website, it well accept the esn then but I can't update the profile or the phone # as well as the min # (voicemail #). I am unable to get into the programming since its rooted the only code that works is *#06# for the esn #. Please take into account I've never rooted a phone before thats why I bought one already done, im hoping someone out there can help me without having to go back to factory I have attached a picture below of my phones software if that helps.
I thank you all in advance
Sir,
Please wait until mods will move this thread to the device specific forum for more relevant answers.

Your problem is not that it out rooted, it's that it is running CyanogenMOD. Thus the dialer codes do not work, nor does it have a prl/profile update option. One easy fix since you have a custom ROM, which also means you have a custom recovery, is to flash a TouchWiz ROM such as WickedS5 or WickedX or even stock (rooted) to gain your dialer codes and prl/profile update options. Backup in your custom recovery to your external SD card, wipe, flash TouchWiz ROM. Once your activated just restore your backup of CyanogenMOD

I had a similar issue when I tried to flash Dirty Unicorns over CM11 and subsequently bricked my Virgin S3. I had to flash it to a Boost mobile stock ROM then to Sprint before it would regain signal.
