Because Google along with developers make their money off of ads. If you block ads nobody makes money. Then nobody develops or apps go to a paid version.

The advertisers petitioned Google to remove them. They are still available on the developers sites in most cases and can be sideloaded. Also many ROMs bake in the host files.
And Questions go in Q&A
So thread moved...lol.

is there any way to get paid marketplace apps and games for free ?
could any hacker find any way for this ?
That's not going to happen.
Support the industry, like everyone else does.
Or if you can't afford apps, just find the free ones.

[Q] GetJar-Market Promblems!?!?!?

Im currently on the awesome miui rom as of now. This has never happened before but i downloaded the tweetcaster pro app from getjar but when i tried to update it the market told me that i couldnt..because i didnt buy the app...is there a way around this..is this rom related..or is it my phone? It doesnt even show up in my installed section under my apps..im guessing that has something to do with it lol...thanks in advance
Isn't getjar a black market for apps... meaning you can get paid apps for free... I'm thinking it is... and you will get no help here because that is piracy! As for the not updating... if you didn't buy it from the android market it won't update because it checks that it was bought from the android market...

Actually its a legit alternative market. Please don't flame the guy unless you know what he means
As far as updating apps through the google market place... well you can't its like the amazon app store in that sense, unless the developer updates the app on getjar there won't be an update

I highly appreciate both comments guys. I am the last to dabble in piracy. Hell, i got getjar app from xda..but if that is how people feel about getjar...i would discontinue use immediately but i felt like it was legit...and thanks AC!!

Miui.us is awesome isn't it? Though I am a little biased. What the other people said is accurate. You can only update thru where u bought it from.

Is having Ad Blockers stealing ??

Because they do pay app developers so they can stay free.. So at least we should be able to see what they advertide? I feel bad but then again I dont lol

Just use the ad blocker AND buy the premium apps that you want to support.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk
Flawed logic. If ads were meant to keep the product free, then all apps would have the same features but some/most apps that have a paid version have no ads in addition to additional features. It creates an additional incentive to support the dev.
If you think you should be seeing the ads, why block them yourself?
Do whatever you want.. no one cares. The money they would get from the ad views is pennies and by no means a way for someone to support themselves.

I disagree about it being "pennies". It adds up. I know people that make a living off of advertising on websites, apps, etc.

Obviously it doesn't matter too much to the devs or to Google otherwise they would be banned from the "market" (Play) ...
So... take that into consideration!

I understand the payout systems and how the ad revenue scheme works. Those are websites you are referring to are getting a pretty good amount of unique traffic flowing though. Most people, especially apps for droid just don't get that traffic. It is also basically there job to maintain those websites, apps, etc so they can get that revenue stream.
Not a lot of devs are going to quit there day job because they got an app or two that has several thousand downloads.
pennies add up. Within 2 months of launching the free version of angry birds rovio was pulling in $1MM/mo from the ads.

Not every app uploaded is going to be as popular as any given angry birds series because it's already an established game.

It's interesting, as I have Polaris Office installed on my Optimus 3D, and it works really well. It came as part of the Promethius ROM.

im surprised google allows such app to be uploaded to the play store..
what happened to their qc..
and iinm polaris office is a stock rom app
I think it asks for your google to access your google drive.
The provided URL is not working but apparently it seems to be Polaris Office.
Well, it came built in with my One X.
Pretty lame that they are making fake apps...

Google does not 'allow' publishing to Play Store. They only scan the app for malicious code and publish. It's up to the users to decide if they want to give the app access to the features is requires or not. Google treats the users of their services like adults that can make their own choices alone, unlike Apple which treats them like children that are allowed to access only what Apple wants them to access.

Hi I'm a noob here and with anything android - so according to the noob video I found this thread, it's an old one so I hope that's ok.
I recently downloaded a free game called URBEX via amazon onto my kindle fire - the crippled android - anyway I really liked the game and browsing for something similar found what looks to be the very same game being sold by a chinese developer. The name of the game was only slightly different 'Arbex Escape' but the screenshots are of the URBEX game. Is it likely this Arbex is totally fake, I didn't see any point in downloading it to see but there are complaints about it not working on amazon and itunes where as URBEX has good reviews.
I looked up the so called developer of 'ARBEX' Zhiqiang Huang and Beth Ho, and it looks suspect to me but for all I know developers may allow resale remarketing of thier work somehow? I'ts made me look at the world of apps in a far more sinister light or am I just paranoid?
Doh, just seen it is an HTC thread, i'm not far off the mark though am I, I have got one of those too, and newly flashed and rooted, Very Many thanks to this site.

I'd donate my 15 bucks to the victims of the Boston tragedy before I pay that much for a launcher.

I agree. Go IMO is a No Go! I swear they ruined a relationship I had with a girl. She would freak out that she never got messages from me when I used Go. Damned Go!!!
Bought it when it came out, it taught me a quick lesson, never again over 5 bucks

Hmmm. Hadn't heard. What kind of concerns? No key logging or anything right? It doesn't have a text client or anything so I'm not concerned with that aspect.

Oh things just like that. The SMS app can tell that you are a go user even after changing phones and not reinstalling the app.

I did a quick Google for Go security threats/concerns and couldn't come up with anything. Would you mind elaborating on the problem? I don't doubt you, just the opposite, as any savvy person can manipulate Google results.

If you search for the Go SMS thread another Mod and myself brought up concerns about how they were able to detect that a user was a Go sms user after they changed phones and didnt reinstall the app.
So they could tell you previously used their app?
Perhaps a tinfoil hat would be in order?

Think about it for a min. Yes they could tell you used the app. But if you change phones and do not install it on the new phone just how do you think they could tell that you used it. Another mods GF got a new phone and did not install it on the new phone but on the other mods device she was still listed as a Go user. This would require the storing of phone numbers on a private server in China where the company is from.
Ok, so, I read through the Go SMS thread and it would seem the security threats were handled over a year ago. Also many people mentioned contacts being listed as Go SMS users who didn't even own android phones; people concluded this was just a bug. Of course the Play Store keeps track of every app you've ever downloaded linked to your Gmail account.
Please understand I am not trying to start an argument, but you yourself stated the threats were gone and stopped using the app basically on the principle of not trusting the developer for past behavior. Understandable and reasonable foundation for concern.
Were they shady February 2012 and before? Definitely. Are they shady now? Uncertain. Are they now money hungry? Yes. Maximum revenue by any means necessary seems their only goal now.
YMMV
