[Q] New Android Market

I downloaded the New Android Market app and then downloaded a movie after trying to play the movies it says movie will not play on rooted device. Anyone else having this issue?

Google movies won't play on rooted devices. It knows that your device is rooted, and has to do with copyright protection. That's the way it is right now.

big brother knows... your right about the copyright protection. they dont want anyone using a rooted device because then google just became the "new pirate bay". you could buy the movie. copy it with TB or any back up. ask for a refund and have the movie for free.

I'm sure google will be quick to counter it if one ever does come out. Plus.. there are so many other options for movies

Another issue that I'm getting with new market is apps say they have update, but when you try to update no option to. I restored back to old market until the dev put in rom.

Hmmm I rolled back and hours later the new one auto updated.
MIUI.US 2.15.00.05.02 Radio&Incredikernel.

I had this problem as well but it eventually sorted itself out and let me update

same. but is till dont like how you cant search by new. only top paid or top free. i want to see what came out today and not what other people like.

My fiance has a rooted evo running savage zen aosp rom but her market got an update looks really nice even has a movie section were you can rent movies straight from the market anyone know what I'm talking about cause I would love to have it

No it shouldn't cause we both are on the dinc2 I was just stating she had it on her evo which is basically a dummy phone just connects it to WiFi it is not active and the question was in regards to this device I'm using which is the dinc2 but ty for playing

You don't want to try to rent movies on a rooted phone. Since root allows us to modify framework and potentially remove DRM, you can't actually view the movie you just paid for because content providers asked Google to restrict rooted users from accessing movies, even though you can still pay for it.

Not sure if you do this already, but check the android development and hacking forums. There is a section for apps and games, it's a great place to find apps.

That's where I got the updated market, downloaded netflix long before the official app came out for our phones, and a few other apps that I'd never have found if I didn't look in that forum. Definitely worth taking a couple minutes each day to browse if you ask me.

I don't know why people have to do things like that. It just encourages piracy. I really want to be an honest person, but they make it so hard sometimes.

I like getjar, in theory. I just wish their site was easier to navigate, and they published updates to their apps.

Weird but if you uninstall getjar some apps don't work anymore they say they are part of getjar gold and you need getjar installed. Fortunately beautiful widgets isn't one of them. I only uninstalled getjar because it always stays in ram as 10mb

this is good to know

They are legit. Usually you get an older version but its a great way to try out the full version. Just like Amazons free app of the day you can't update from Android Marketplace.

I mean I don't know if that's morally wrong but if you did download it when it was free and just didn't back it up I don't think it would be wrong would it? I have the SwiftKey X from GetJar when it was free. I don't want to do anything to hurt developers so if anyone feels this would be wrong if he's already downloaded it but didn't back it up let me know. I do believe in supporting developers. Funds are a little tough for me right now which is why I look for the GetJar specials or Amazon daily free apps.
I am starting to rethink Amazon though. I've heard stories that they take advantage of developers. Any info would be appreciated. I'll stop going there if they aren't being fair with developers there.

Oh, and if anyone hasn't tried TouchPal Keyboard I would at least give it a shot. Right now its free in the Market I think until the end of the month but after that they may charge for it. I've been using it for a day now and I really do like it. Very much like SwiftKey X. What's great is if you follow them on Twitter and "Like" them on Facebook you will get lifetime free upgrades. Hard to beat that. I'm going back and forth with the two and its a little tough to really decide yet. I like them both especially in landscape mode and they both work well with the slide out keyboard.

There's nothing wrong with giving it away.

You got my first app thanks since GetJar allowed me to get Tapatalk. Quite an upgrade!
ETA: happened to notice with all its advantages that Tapatalk was noticably slower. Checked the "3G Compatibility" option in settings and that seems to help quite a bit with no noticable drawbacks (and I'm on Wifi right now).

What about if you use Titanium Backup to force the market link or whatever it's called? Would this then attach it to the market so you could update from there?

Doesn't work, I tried doing this back while Applanet was up and it still asks you to buy it even though it's already installed

I want the app back for my Tmobile Sgs2, I saw some for the Epic touch but it isn't compatible with my tmobile sgs2 is there any way that there is one for tmobile?? :|

Yeah, spider man, assassins creed, and much more. Its not a huge market but there are some good stuff in here for free.

Howdy folks. As you may or may not know, Samsung Apps is offering Dead Space for free. Now when I logged into the Samsung Apps store, it told me my country was not supported or some garbage like that (I'm in the U.S. btw). In any case, I downloaded the Samsung Apps installer from Puerto Rico and it works perfectly on my stock (but rooted) T989. It's in English. I thought I would share the apk in case you had problems getting it.
The app works just like the Amazon app store, and there are a TON of free quality games on there, from the aforementioned Dead Space, to Bejeweled, to Need for Speed, and the list goes on and on.

All the paid apps are trials and Bejeweled wont even let you play. Says its a trial then asks for credit card info.

The one I have is 3.71 mb which is over a MB bigger. Version 2.6.048. Which is the one offered in the original link.
