Because they do pay app developers so they can stay free.. So at least we should be able to see what they advertide? I feel bad but then again I dont lol

Just use the ad blocker AND buy the premium apps that you want to support.

Flawed logic. If ads were meant to keep the product free, then all apps would have the same features but some/most apps that have a paid version have no ads in addition to additional features. It creates an additional incentive to support the dev.
If you think you should be seeing the ads, why block them yourself?
Do whatever you want.. no one cares. The money they would get from the ad views is pennies and by no means a way for someone to support themselves.

I disagree about it being "pennies". It adds up. I know people that make a living off of advertising on websites, apps, etc.

Obviously it doesn't matter too much to the devs or to Google otherwise they would be banned from the "market" (Play) ...
So... take that into consideration!

I understand the payout systems and how the ad revenue scheme works. Those are websites you are referring to are getting a pretty good amount of unique traffic flowing though. Most people, especially apps for droid just don't get that traffic. It is also basically there job to maintain those websites, apps, etc so they can get that revenue stream.
Not a lot of devs are going to quit there day job because they got an app or two that has several thousand downloads.
pennies add up. Within 2 months of launching the free version of angry birds rovio was pulling in $1MM/mo from the ads.

Not every app uploaded is going to be as popular as any given angry birds series because it's already an established game.

is there any way to get paid marketplace apps and games for free ?
could any hacker find any way for this ?
That's not going to happen.
Support the industry, like everyone else does.
Or if you can't afford apps, just find the free ones.

Applanet doesn't only contain pirated apps, it also contains essentially useless apps, such as porn viewers and stupid Chinese apps that Google may not see fit or appropriate for the regular market. So don't be so quick to judge people based on the apps they use and assume that you know what they may use them for.
To op, as far as I know, Applanet was shut down. But you could probably try 4shared to see if it works. I don't have a copy as I have no need for the " useless apps" and pay for the ones i do use.

I agree. Have I used it, yes. Short lived experience because it was buggy and as I said, i support devs. However, I'm not paying $6 to a multi million dollar corporation like espn to keep up to date on sports (mlb at bat app). They owed me at least $5 for that disgrace of a fantasy football app they put out last year!

They are giving away apps that are usually paid apps.
Examples:
SwiftKey X
Beautiful Widgets
They are legit, GetJar is working with app developers to do this. I'd post the apks, but i dont feel like dealing with the people who will tell me im giving warez out. However, install this and use it to get the apps. http://db.tt/7xbbJ7Cp

I like getjar, in theory. I just wish their site was easier to navigate, and they published updates to their apps.
Weird but if you uninstall getjar some apps don't work anymore they say they are part of getjar gold and you need getjar installed. Fortunately beautiful widgets isn't one of them. I only uninstalled getjar because it always stays in ram as 10mb

Free this week: Tapatalk! Swift key isn't on there anymore and I didn't back it up
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
send me your e-mail and I'll send it to you if you want. I mean I don't know if that's morally wrong but if you did download it when it was free and just didn't back it up I don't think it would be wrong would it? I have the SwiftKey X from GetJar when it was free. I don't want to do anything to hurt developers so if anyone feels this would be wrong if he's already downloaded it but didn't back it up let me know. I do believe in supporting developers. Funds are a little tough for me right now which is why I look for the GetJar specials or Amazon daily free apps.
I am starting to rethink Amazon though. I've heard stories that they take advantage of developers. Any info would be appreciated. I'll stop going there if they aren't being fair with developers there.
Jim
Oh, and if anyone hasn't tried TouchPal Keyboard I would at least give it a shot. Right now its free in the Market I think until the end of the month but after that they may charge for it. I've been using it for a day now and I really do like it. Very much like SwiftKey X. What's great is if you follow them on Twitter and "Like" them on Facebook you will get lifetime free upgrades. Hard to beat that. I'm going back and forth with the two and its a little tough to really decide yet. I like them both especially in landscape mode and they both work well with the slide out keyboard.
There's nothing wrong with giving it away.

You got my first app thanks since GetJar allowed me to get Tapatalk. Quite an upgrade!
ETA: happened to notice with all its advantages that Tapatalk was noticably slower. Checked the "3G Compatibility" option in settings and that seems to help quite a bit with no noticable drawbacks (and I'm on Wifi right now).

What do you mean by malware? It would seem surprising that angry birds would have it. But always make sure you check the permissions of apps before installing. If something looks odd, don't install.

It's really not that hard to avoid malware in the Play Store.
Answer this question. Do you click links from strangers or those facebook message links that say "Hey, look at these photos of you i [email protected][email protected]!!"
If you answer yes, then you need an antivirus
If you answer no, then you are smart enough to be without one.
No in pretty cautious about what I download or open. Only thing I am worried about is when I download an app from the play store and I don't know who developed it

Malware is such a misused term.
Malware means malicious software. What exactly did you find malicious about the latest Angry Birds?

I can't remember where I heard about it at. It was about a fake publisher of angry birds having malware in their app. Maybe apple trying to slow android sales lol
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
A fake publisher then. Not Angry Birds specifically. Gotta watch that stuff. If Angry Birds ain't from Rovio, then don't trust it.
if its downloaded from the playstore then your pretty safe unless they use stupid permissions, which will just allow them to push stuff to your phone u dont want like ads, ruin ur battery life, ect. Sounds like your smart enough to not have to worry about falling for that stupid stuff though, so I'd say no, U do not need an AV
I don't think so.
though Gnex's hardware is good enough, but first:
AntiVirus apps would caused a poor performance and drain the battery.
second: I don;t think that there are so many android virus that you need to install antivirus apps.

Because Google along with developers make their money off of ads. If you block ads nobody makes money. Then nobody develops or apps go to a paid version.

The advertisers petitioned Google to remove them. They are still available on the developers sites in most cases and can be sideloaded. Also many ROMs bake in the host files.
And Questions go in Q&A
