Help on sim unlocking HTC Incredible 2 for other carriers.. - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

Hi all, I have a Incredible 2 that I just took out to see what I can do with it. I want to sim unlock it for international use but so far it has not been working the way I wanted Right now it is S-off, HBOOT 6.13.1002 with radio 1.09.01.0622. I am currently on Incredible 2 HD rls 1.1 and I inserted a att sim and it still said no service. I went to change it to gsm only and rebooted and it still say no service. I heard that there's a gsm patch but it's for version 4.02 of this rom and it was recommended not to flash with the 1.1 release. I also do have a unlock code from verizon but I do not know how to revert back to the stock rom and keep s-off. Would someone help me please? Thank you so much!
Edit for more information:
The phone now is not using verizon, I did get the carrier unlock code from verizon but I do not know how to enter it because I'm not on stock rom. Also putting in a t-mobile sim or a att sim didn't pop up a sim unlock code for me to enter in If I am missing anymore information please let me know so you guys can help me out! Thank you.

If you can find a copy of skyraider, use that. It's based on stock, so it can be unlocked.

Never mind, is this it? http://rootzwiki.com/topic/8577-romgb-skyraider-zeus-13-inc2-4086053/page__st__40 Also something seems to be wrong with my phone, it can never connect to google market! I wipe data, cache, and dalvik cache before all rom. Is there anyway I can set this phone back to complete stock from verizon? Like wipe everything and starts fresh? No matter what rom I tried it just won't connect to google market or make any sim work.
What is the best way to go back to complete stock while still keeping s-off, and unlock bootloader? If I can't then I do not mind going back to the latest stock recovery for this phone, as long as I can sim unlock fine! Thanks for your help!

From the OP in the first link:
"AGAIN... this will put you back to unrooted stock with stock kernel, latest radio and stock recovery. It will not remove S-off."
Re-obtaining root is easy if you still have s-off.

ah thank you.. I just read that sentenced before you replied I will try that ... thanks a million! repped..

After you run the PG32IMG or whatever it is called, take it off your sd card, or rename it. Otherwise it will try to run every time your phone passes the bootloader. You don't want that to happen.

I don't have an actual sd card... I think I will just put it into the internal memory and use recovery to install the zip right? Or do I just put it on there, reboot and it will automaticaly start installing?

I don't think it will run from internal memory, and you don't use recovery for this one.

either I'm blind or I can't find a slot for the actual sd card.... I don't think this phone is expandable.

If you have an Incredible 2...take off the back cover, it is just below and to the left of the battery. It's microsd. You can't do much without it since the internal memory is about 1gb total.

This thread might help: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1900516
I used AndyBonestock, but SkyRaider should work fine too.

Aha duhh I'm so blind.. found it Let me try the original stock first to get rid of funky stuff...then I will try the rest of the roms...

Alright, I have successfuly restored it to stock but I am now unrooted and on 2.3.4 so how would I root this baby and put clockwork mod recovery touch or 4ext touch and start installing roms that will work for GSM such as the incredible hd release 1.1 or the virtuousaffinity? AndroidICS or something like that I heard is also GSM compatible.
s-off is still there and I still have the revolutionary info in hboot but just not rooted and no recovery installed

You need to follow the root instructions for installing recovery, then flash a superuser zip in that new recovery. I don't have all the links or the downloads, but that should be enough info to get you there.
Edit:
Also, you may have to sim unlock it before doing anything else I'm not familiar with that since I'm on big red, so search around and maybe someone with better knowledge will answer here.

I have just sim unlocked it but since it's 2.3.4 it looks like I have to ues the htc dev unlock to root? Or is there a one click tool to use since I'm already s-off?

No dev unlock needed, just install recovery and flash superuser.

But I'm not rooted so how can I flash recovery? please show me how to do this ...
edited.. nvm I managed to flash recovery but when I went to follow this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1160745 my phone froze literally on the start up at "HTC" screen

Froyo root, recovery and Cyanogen

Hi..
The howto for permissions root on froyo, recovery and Cyanogen?
thanks
firstly answer these questions.
1)how old is your handset?
i need to know this becuase i doubt you remember what hboot version it was before you updated to the fro-yo update.
2)you will need to downgrade. using this method regardless.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=750852
once you have flashed PB99IMG.zip and if you get a picture then you dont need to continue with the procedure. if you do not get a picture, you continue with instructions.
once you have done that you will need to root.
root using unrevoked method. www.unrevoked.com.
if you have a SLCD screen the link in 2) will be have full instructions on this.
once you have flashed unrevoked and are in the custom recovery you can flash any zip.
so you can put cyanogen port for desire onto the SD card and flash that in the recovery screen.
thanks.. but I lose the guarantee???

you will lose warranty if you flash anything unofficial to you're phone.
again can you answer the questions above
also what network you are on and things like that. because you may be able to flash OFFICIAL RUU of your network back on after running cyanogen to get back to factory setting

yep that to. but if you use modaco's root method, apart from the rom no sign of root
recovery remains stock.

factory reset after rooting

i rooted the phone the other day
and used the following tools
clockworkmod
visionary
one click radio s-off
one click eng s-off
astro from market
no rom has been flashed as i always had the intension of selling this phone
i have now got a buyer for the phone and wondered what would happen if i did a factory reset?
to get on the android market and download astro and clockworkmod i had to sign in my gmail account which i cannot now remove unless i do a factory reset.
if i did a factory reset would the phone still be rooted and sim unlocked and would the owner have to go and get any of those tools again??
thanks
im a newbie so hence the questions
If you do the factory reset you will loose all your personal data an programms you installed. Radio S-Off and Eng S-Off will still remain on your DHD

visionary and clockwork mod? will these disappear and will the new owner have to get these again if they do disappear as he wants to flash a rom on it... or are these not needed anymore?
thanks much appreciated zio

They will be wiped off if they are not part of the rom on your phone. Eg: Leedroid rom.

ok mate cheers
will the user have to get those tools again then as he wanted to flash some rom on it
only asking so i can give the guy a heads up once he takes it off me.
thanks zio
Well the factory reset will not even unroot the device. You will still have access to clockwork mod, and if you have superuser app in /system it will still be there.
So the short answer is that the buyer will only need to put the rom on an sd card and flash it.
Someone swyped my idea.

S-Off Question?

I unrooted my EVO because I had to take it to sprint for a possible swap becuase of some issues I was having. Well come to find out it was nothing big and they updated the phone to 2.3.3 but I still have have S-off. Is it possible to still root the phone and get a custom recovery?
Yes; and props to you for posting the thread in the correct area.

You should be able to access the recovery through the bootloader. If it was erased, you can flash whichever recovery you want by renaming it PC36IMG.zip, placing it on the root of your sdcard and the bootloader will auto-detect, and prompt you to flash.
Here is Amon Ra: http://db.tt/WP0beNa
And here is Clockwork, if you must: http://db.tt/9sksyTK
Both are named properly, follow the directions in the post above (just don't rename). You can then restore a nandroid backup or flash a new rom.

You did it the right way. Returned to stock, keeping it s-off and you just verified what I am always led to believe; Sprint doesn't even check the bootloader to see if you are s-on or off....

Yeah I know I read that somewhere in the forum so that's what I did!
I'm willing to bet that if I just flashed my nandroid of my stock/rooted and took it to Sprint, they would never even know.
Ok another problem. I flash RA-Supersonic-v2.3 and did a restore from a previous ROM and it worked. But now when I try to flash this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1183252 it downloads and when I select reboot it takes me to the Fastboot screen. Any help would be GREAT?
**Edit** Never Mind I got it!

What is the point of the HTC unlocked bootloader?

I've been trying to install CM7 on my Incredible 2. There are many, many guides to do this on the web, all of them have their own little twists.
After trying for a few hours, I've followed basically these steps:
1) Unlocked bootloader from HTCdev.com
2) Flashed ClockworkMod Recovery.
3) Backed up phone to SD card and saved the backup to my computer.
4) Wiped phone and cache in recovery.
5) Downloaded CM7 to the SD card.
6) Installed CM7 update from SD card.
I know these aren't exactly the steps I found in any particular guide, but after doing a ton of reading it basically seemed like it might work, with the exception of any issues with s-off.
When I try to boot, the phone just stops at the white HTC screen. So, I'm pretty sure the problem is I need to get s-off. My question is basically, what the hell is the point of the HTCdev unlocked bootloader if you can't actually install anything from recovery without s-off, which the unlocker does not give you? It seems like I now need to re-lock my phone, then use the unofficial unlockers/s-off.
Or, is there a simpler way to get s-off with the unlocked bootloader that I haven't been able to find?
I've had pretty bad luck with the unofficial unlockers in the past (simply would not communicate with the phone via USB. I use the android sdk to develop apps so I know it *can* connect), so if that is the case, I'm just going to restore my backup and give up on installing CM, again.
You missed the part where you have to extract the boot.img and flash it after the rom.

HELP! Flashed system.emmc, flash stock recovery, now I don't know what to do!

So I've been trying to get the newest system update for my rooted phone. I flashed the system.emmc.win from the backup I made before I rooted my phone. That started doing a flash loop so I thought I would try flashing the stock recovery I found on this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-m9/development/1-32-401-8-stock-recovery-t3061895 Now my phone is on this "Android system recovery" screen and I don't know what to do! Please help!

Sorry, should have mentioned that. My carrier is Sprint and my phone is S-On. And I'm pretty sure I'm on the original firmware, I just rooted the phone.
Okay, first of all, you flashed stock recovery for GSM phones. I have no idea if that will work correctly on Sprint.
Hold down power and vol up buttons until you get to the bootloader screen. You may need to use the volume buttons to select "reboot to bootloader".
Are you saying you restored a stock backup in twrp? Or flashed that file some other way?
Your best and safest bet here is probably to run the latest Sprint RUU. It will wipe your phone, but everything will be clean and updated.

Assuming it's on your external sdcard, it will be safe. You could restore that, but you'd be rolling the system files back to 1.32 on top of 2.x firmware, which would be unstable. You'd need to then immediately update your rom. But your data should be okay.
My recommendation would be to head over to the M9 Sprint forum before doing anything more, though. This is for GSM phones and the guys there would know for sure what would be best.

Yes, it is on an external card. If by chance the system wasn't backed up (just everything else on the phone) would that work out ok?
Also, while I'm waiting for RUU from here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-one-m9/development/ruu-sprint-htc-one-m9-1-32-651-17-t3073355) to download, I just want to make sure I have the instructions right. If I rename the zip file to 0PJAIMG.zip, put that on the sd card, go into download mode, it should just read it like the thread says right?
Edit: Sorry, I didn't see the last bit of your post. I will go ahead and put up a post on the GSM forum. That's the same place I got that first stock recovery from right?

You might be better off heading over to that thread for help. There are some things in the OP that concern me, namely the "brick risk" referred to. I am not sure what they mean by using only a current version. On the GSM M9, you can upgrade that way; that warning seems to suggest you can't upgrade a Sprint phone using the sdcard method.
Edit: No, that's a GSM recovery. Go to the Sprint firmware thread you linked.
