There is no such way, warranty is determined on site by service center guys.
Even they can't check anything using IMEI. They check water indicators, and the phone's bill that's it.
And these SC guys no matter with what type of problem you go in , flash a stock firmware from emma. So if your bootloader is unlocked, emma will detect it.
So the point is, if you are within the warranty period and you didn't modify the software ( unlocking bootloader for example, ) and you have the bill, You can fully claim a warranty for your phone.

Hi Guys
i have the famous front cover brake.
My phone goes to the Service CEnter from Se here in Germany
and they said that i changed the Firmware so the warranty isnt anymore available.
Now i have only unlock the Bootloader and rooted my phone.
Now i have relocked the Bootloader and flashed the stocl 2.3.4 FW on it.
Should i try to resend it to the Service Center ?
or will they still recognize that i unlocked the bootloader ?

They probably won't even notice, btw u meant "front cover break"? The stupid crack near the sensor?
If yes i think its said in that thread that issue it is covered by warranty.
When you unlock the bootloader, you provide to Sony Ericsson the IMEI code of your telephone. I think if you send it again to the Service Center they *might* check in a database if that IMEI has been provided in past to unlock the device... this is why at the moment I prefer not to root (and so not to unlock bl) my Arc s.
yes but they dont want do accept the Warranty
They say that if i unlock the bootloader (and i have done this)
the Warranty is anymore available

And It's said during the unlock procedure that the warranty will be void... at least the official SE procedure...
For hardware issues I don't think we will have that issue. Unlocking Bootloader and Hardware issue is not really related unless we bricking by flash ROM or something.
If u got warranty pls update this post.that will help others.thanks in advance
I read that this warranty is avoid only for SOFTWARE SUPPORT.
Following the law, they should keep in charge all material problem.

It is not possible. As you can see in official instructions, last step:
Code:
Warning! If you perform this step, you will unlock the boot loader and which may void your warranty and/or any warranty from your carrier.
So you void warranty only if you physically unlock your bootloader and perform last step. So requesting unlock code SHOULDN'T void warranty.

Getting an unlock code doesn't mean that you should have unlocked it...it gives you the option. That's it
Hi guys, i have a question, i want to return my phone for warranty and i've read this thread that if your bootloader is showing 'relocked' you cannot return the device for warranty.
I am here to ask if there is a way to make the bootloader show 'locked' bootloader instead of 'relocked'?
it would be GREATLY appreciated if you could help me. thanks!
for those who want to relock their bootloader can follow the instructions here
There is no way to do that ATM.
If the problem is the hardware issue, HTC should honor the warranty.

actually i'm looking to sell the phone, the phone have no issues whatsoever, but if the person i sell to wants to claim warranty, it may be an issue.
Not possible. When you got your unlock bin from HTC, it logged the device info. There gonna know right away it was tampered with.

so that means there is no option to claim warranty unless i pay for the 'fines' or charges that incur to repair my device?

Correct. From what I've read, unlocking voids the warranty instantly (even tho htcdev says it "could" void your warranty) So any repairs are gonna cost you.

OK.. while trying to re-flash my phone after messing up, I tried to re-lock (fastboot oem lock) and it put up 3 messages, 1 succeed, 2 failed, on reboot of phone it read locked.
Yes!! Locked not re-locked ! I forgot I had not flashed stock recovery ! So triued to unlock, it worked but I could not flash stock recovery, failed, but I could re-lock with same LOCKED message, if I then went from HBoot to Fastboot I got a new menu SECURITY .. bellow locked a message SECURITY WARNING, if I select SECURITY menu then I get a new screen , KEYCARD failed, and reboots.
Anyway the LOCKED was enough to get the phone swapped as its two weeks old, any way after charging and attempting RUU again it locked on black HTC screen most times it booted.
Still maybe this menu holds a key to S-OFF, and maybe the relock failing can be replicated, it seems to have sent only 1 of 3 parts if the file across, so if you phone is bricked maybe you can give it a shot for htc service cover by part re-locking in some way.

and was hoping we could make some headway on it.
I noticed you are on Vodafone Australia.
I spoke to multiple stores and service reps and each of them said the same thing, that merely unlocking the bootloader will not void your warranty with them assuming a hardware fault. They even allowing discussion of bootloader unlocking in their community forum.
They did say however that flashing custom roms and rooting will void your warranty as per usual and any damage caused as a result of overclocking or messing with voltages etc is not covered.
I don't know if that is any help, but they seem pretty good about it so long as you didnt cause any actual damage yourself

Bootloader unlocking voids warranty but you can relock the bootloader. By doing that you get back your warranty..
Press thnx if I helped.

"Bootloader unlocking voids warranty but you can relock the bootloader. By doing that you get back your warranty." -Wrong information.
You do not get the warranty back even after you relock the bootloader.
Because bootloader unlocking will result DRM keys loss and also the IMEI number is logged by SONY, so even if you relock the bootloader that KEY can not be restored. So SONY can track it easily.\
So warranty remains void.

This is not completely accurate.
Actually if you read from Sony's web page here http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com
It says
" Important information
Please note that you may void the warranty of your device and/or any warranty from your operator if you unlock the boot loader. See your device's warranty statement for details. Additionally, due to the modified device software, Sony’s repair network will likely have to replace key components before it can properly test, repair and verify your device using our repair tools and software. Consequently, if Sony performs a warranty repair, Sony will likely charge you a significant service fee for the additional costs caused by your modification of the software."
Clearly it states MAY.

Although Sony logs the IMEI number, you still may not lose your warranty. It depends on which country you are in. For example : -
I had bricked my Xperia mini ST15i's touchscreen ( had unlocked bl the official way ). Just flashed stock rom with flashtool, relocked bootloader and gave it to Sony. In India, they didn't check a thing. I just told them that I had bricked it while upgrading to ICS with SEUS
Within a month, I got a new screen replacement absolutely free within my warranty period.
Yes could be a country issue too. You got lucky bro i guess, that they didn't check
In India all the cities got separate service centers or is it state wise?

I think that it is city-wise because the Sony guy told me that he had sent my phone to the local service center in a nearby city.
i read of several people that only relocked bootloader and they sent phone to service center without any problems
Depends what country your in as to what rights you have. In Australia i got my screen replaced with unlocked bootloader and no receipt. As Sony says this *may* void your warranty, it also may not. If something happens and is not directly resulting from flashing, then i would argue with Sony that unlocking the bootloader is irrelevant as the phone is defective.
My phone was fixed under even though Sony said no, i said OK ill contact ACCC, Sony said OK we'll fix it as a gesture of good faith. I assume good faith means 'damn this guys knows his consumer rights'.

I have unlocked my z play's bootloader for downgrading to MM. Will this nullify my warranty? Is there anyway for the service center people to know I unlocked the bootloader?
You void the warranty with requesting the code. It does not matter if you use the code. Your device is in the database. If your dealer sends it to Lenovo for warranty repair, they open the battery cover, read the IMEI or other device data, recognize you requested the code, write a letter "warranty void" and send it back. That's my experience. At least that's what happened to my Moto X Play with hardware problems which are not software related (flaky contact on USB and SD card).
Yes, the bootloader will show as re-locked (there are three states: locked, relocked and unlocked). It will show in the bootloader menu. (status:2 or something like that)
Yes they will know as soon as they check your IMEI on their database.
With other companies that's not case, but with Motorola they void the warranty the moment you request the unlock code from the website.
My Moto Z died 3 months ago, and i have no where to go. When i went to the service center they told me that i rooted the device and i wont get the warranty without even looking at my phone. they just checked the IMEI on their database.
BTW.... Who has successfully locked bootloader on MZP ..?
Anyone !!!:laugh::laugh:
It's not possible to relock bootloader ...As there is no signed firmware available ......
Yes they will know... I just put in for a warranty exchange last month after having issues with it. Yes it was unlocked and had a custom rom on it when I returned it. They had a New Play in my hands within 2 days. They knew the phone was unlocked, I documented it on my warranty claim and they still approved and sent out a replacement. Thank you Moto.
Hi! i've bought a Realme GT Master Edition just recently and have these VERY IMPORTANT questions regarding my phone's warranty. the warranty comes from a third party company and lasts 18 months.
this phone is the best phone i could buy with my money, but the realme is not much known in my country, most stores don't have smartphones made by this company and repair shops don't have these phones' spare parts, and smartphones are ridiculously expensive here, so i can't easily ignore this warranty and am looking for a way to do my thing without being caught by the warranty provider.
the warranty provider says my warranty will void completely if my phone gets flashed by individuals other than them, let alone the rooting or unlocking the bootloader!
so i'm stuck on 2 big decisions:
1. Ignore the warranty and root my phone, but if something bad happens, then i will have to spend many years without a phone.
2. forget about rooting and get used to the ridiculous limits of Android 11/12.
but i need both of them, so i want to ask you is that even possible?
1. What traces will be left in my phone if i root it then unroot + relock it's bootloader and flash a stock rom?
2. how do they find out my phone is flashed by someone else?
3. is there any flash counter or anything in my phone that shows my phone was flashed or modified before?
4. if there is a way to do it without getting caught, can you tell me what things should i do?
5. if you know any way then did it work for you? (did you relock and unroot your phone and get the warranty service?)
if your answer contains technical details, please tell me, i will learn anything required to do those.
Thank you for reading!
