Just unboxed note 2 ..
I wana know how much time it takes to full charge from zero?
And this is my first use ..how much should I charge?
In the mains about 2-3 hours. Double that via usb. But it lasts a hell of a long time in fairness.

Should I charge for 6 to 8 hours
Ah that's a coincidence.
A few days ago I measured the time it took per minute to charge with the included adapter (which is 2A); it charges 0,93% p/minute. So it takes 107,5 minutes to full charge.
With a 1A adapter it charges 0,54% p/minute (185,2 minutes for a full charge).

Modern li-ion batteries dont need that long first charge.. it was only needed with nimh batteries.
but it wont hurt. i allways make the first 3 charges long and allways try to get down the battery to 20% before i charge.
better to be safe then sorry
Battery of my Note 2 take 3 to 4 hours to charge dont know how you guys manage it in 107 minutes! Tested the charger to be sure but i think its allright.
The battery is fine too, it lasts 8 hours of use without charging. and 4 to 5 hours of use time and 20 hours standby (24 hours total) with light use i get round 3 hours screen on time and 48 hours standby.
But charging it in 1.5 hours.... no way! It takes more then 8 hours to charge in an USB port

usb port around 8 hours sounds normal to me as 5v 500ma, and mains charger is 2A and I get about 1.5 - 2 hours fully charged from dry

Normal charger takes 4 to 6 hours to charge. even when Phone is off. i tried using another 2Amp wall charger and replaced the battery. also reseted to factory default.
All with no luck. I dont know whats wrong bu i think its in the software. because when charged allot on USB or short charges when only 10% charging. the software/battery seems to fail to give the right amount of power. and the calibration is off. Sometimes when i have 20% left and reboot the Phone it all of a sudden has 30% or more.
Since the latest update this has become worse and worse.
The battery is easily lasting 24 hours with 4 to 6 hours screen on time. so i think there is no power draining going on.
I really think its an error in the note 2 software. i read allot about people having the same issue and need to charge their Phone for hours only to see its charged 50%.
I went to sleep last night with the battery at 15%, slept for ~5 hours, woke up, and the battery was only at 50%. Is this normal? Does it take this long to charge for anyone else?
For reference I'm using an HTC charger from a previous Android phone, would using the Samsung charger make a difference?
Yes it seems like too long for too little of a charge. Give the Samsung one a shot.
Your using a charger that at very best pumps out 1amp
The default note 2 charger pumps out 2amps
In other words your charger will take twice as long as it should to charge your phone

If you use note 2 charger, than it can charge to full within 2 1/2 hours.

I agree, the Samsung charger with its 2A is necessary for this large battery if you want it to charge fast.

It's there any harm done to the battery if you use an old charger from a previous Android?

were you charging from mains or pc ? from pc it takes .... ages to charge ( like 1% in 15~30 mins) but from mains it takes more or less 2-2.5 hours to hit 100%.

It's from a HTC wall charger. I changed it to the Samsung charger that came with the phone. Will let you guys know how it goes when I go to sleep tonight.
Will the USB cable make a difference? I have a super long USB cable that I like to use instead of the short default cable that came with the phone.
I know about the 1 Amp / 2 Amp charger ratings, but unlike the original post:
I have my Motorola Xoom 10.1 plugged into the wall, and i use a USB OTG cable from the Xoom to charge my Note 2 overnight (so to only use 1 plug socket).
So i assume this is providing 1 Amp or even less to my Note 2.
I often have it charge my Note 2 from 5% or less all the way to 100% in under the 6/7 hours sleep i get.
Somehow the original posters 35% charge in 5 Hours seems very slow.
with my Samsung box set usb cable, it still takes 8 hrs to charge 100%. sometimes the red led is on but without a single percent charge. I am talking about charging with the usb connected to the laptop. if plugged in power, it takes less that 3 hrs for a full charge.
I remember my previous win7 was perfect, may be the new win8 is having some problem or not, I don't know?

My Xoom must give out some good Amperage if i can get a 100% charge in 6/7 hours then.
The "only" thing that matters is the voltage.
The included charger puts out 5V(+-5%) and 2A.
Too little voltage, and it won't charge.
Too much voltage and you will burn a fuse or the charging circuits in either the phone or the charger.
The phone chargers (no matter what brand it is) are within the limits, so don't worry.
The current (Ampere) shows how much power your charger can deliver at a given time, but the phone itself decides how much current it can take.
A standard USB-port (1.1) gives out 5V and 500mA.
I've built LED cables based on this.
USB 2.0 and higher are supposed to be able to give up to 1500mA under certain circumstances.
My motherboard has a pair of special USB-ports which can recognize cameras, phones, etc. and charge with a higher current and even without having the computer turned on.
While charging through USB-ports a full charge takes ages for me, 6 hours while sleeping will never even charge close to 100%.
On the other hand, charging though the adaptor that came with it or any other adaptor that can pump some juice is blazing fast... 3-4 hours and it's back to a 100%.
Okay, this will sound too silly but this worked for me! Encountered and suffered from the same problem..
It used to take 8 hours to get fully charged...but in time i noticed this silly and weird thing...should work though..
Before putting the phonw on charging, kill all running apps...then when you plug the charger-DO NOT TURN THE SCREEN OFF BY YOURSELF...let it sleep automatically. And it'd get charged lighting fast...it worked for me!

If i put my Note 2 on charge where its at 25% battery, in 30 mins my battery gets charged to $85%! And you should ALWAYS use the charger that comes with your phone instead of a charger made for another phone. The HTC charger is designed to charge that HTC Phones battery. Each charger is different in the sense it provides different amounts of power. The Note 2 battery is huge so the Note 2 charger is designed to push a specific amount of power to it to charge it in a reasonable time.
For e.g. If you use the iPhone 4 charger to charge an iPad, in 5 hours it will charge the iPad to approx 50%, and if you use the original charger to charge the iPad the iPad will be more than fully charged. Thats because the iPad charger is designed to accommodate the huge battery inside the iPad.
Also i read an article not too long ago that said that alot of science goes behind these smartphone / tablet chargers and how its dangerous for the charger and device / battery if you start mixing and matching chargers.
My $.02 cents!

I use my iPad3 charger to charge my N2. It juiced up faster and my N2 does not heat up when it is fully charged.
I use my iPad3 3.1amp in car charger as well when I drives around

It takes my 2xl 2.5 hours to fully charge..in comparison my v20 takes an hour 45 minutes and Moto x play an hour 30 minutes.. the device does not get warm while fast charging while the other 2 does.. fast charging on this phone is a joke
The battery needs to be warm, at least 24°C... It's a known issue, the power delivery feature doesn't start if the battery is cold... I warm the battery everytime before charging the phone and you can notice the difference.

Is this for real?
Care to give us the source for this as I havent found it nowhere in my Pixel 2 XL manual.
And now everytime I plugged in my phone (sometime) it just wont charge immediately and sometime it doesnt even start charging at all (I left it plugged in at night, and battery still not charged at all in the next morning)
So now, everytime I plug, I would have to always carefully check the charging "icon", whether it is "charging" immediately or if not I will have to unplug and replug it till the charging "icon" is ON and sothat I will have a full charged phone in the next morning (bit annoying actually). Sometime I even have to change a charging adapter or cable (and yes, I always use OG pixel 2 xl charger, but when it fails or not charging immediately I will havr no choice but use my samsung charger). And Now I will have better luck with slow charginv adapter i.e. 1 Amp charger, but yes it will take 5-6hrs instead of the 2.5hrs charging time that I used to have.
But what makes me questions myself is that, if all those "temp" thing is true, but why for the last couple of months I had this phone, it is immediately charging fine as its being plugged. Why now with the new behavior?
Thanks in advance

There's a very lengthy thread about the charging speed:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-2-xl/review/charging-speed-t3685546/page39
It actually used to take nearly 3 hours when the phone first came out. Now it takes me 2 hours and 10-15 minutes to go from 1%-100%. It's definitely not the fastest to hit 100% but it gets to 85%, give or take, just as fast as most phones. Especially when comparing amount of mAh.
It's my opinion that Google is gun shy after the battery failures on the 6P.
hello everyone,
what kind of charging brick are you using to charge your watch 3 pro(max volts/amps...?) and how much time does it take to fully charge?
my new watch 3 pro takes 7 hours to charge using 5 volts/2 amps xiaomi brick or my pc usb port!! BUT charges pretty fast when using a huawei fast charge brick 5 volts/2 amps with a maximum of 40 watts(a switching power adaptor)!
