Just wondering if there is a guide/thread that explains how to get google wallet on a deodexed MA7 rom? Or would it be the same process as if you were on LJC?
Allow the installation of apps from Unknown Sources, install the wallet apk, profit. Assuming you are rooted, you'll see an "unsupported device" warning but you can ignore it.

So I just need to download the new wallet apk and it'll be fully functioning? Or do I need to change permissions or build.prop or anything like that?
Yep, just download the latest apk (Wallet 1.6-R96-v13), check the box for "Unknown Sources" under your security settings, and launch the apk w/Root Explorer or other file manager. It will install like any other app, and function just fine right out of the box, no hacks required. I do recommend that, before hand, you login to Google Wallet on your computer, set up your account, and add your credit or debit card there before the initial setup of the Wallet app. It will make the setup a lot easier. If you do that, all you'll have to do when you first launch the Wallet app is setup your PIN and attach to your Gmail account.

Downloaded the apk file from modaco but when I install through root explorer it says application not installed. Do I have to move it to system? Right now it's just in /sdcard
You need the regular wallet apk, not the modaco patched version.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2122313
This isn't as difficult as you are making it. Just get the standard apk and it will install normally. If you use the modaco patched version, there's a few more steps to make it work.

Perfect! Thanks for the help!

I want to install Codename Android 3.4.1 today and have been reading the thread very closely, but there is one thing I cannot seem to get the answer for.
Why does someone need to install gapps? What's the problem with just installing the google apps from the play store? If I were to install a gapps, and an app therein receives an update, the gapps version won't update correctly? Only play store ones will update?
Anyways, seems to me gapps is unnecessary if I can just download from the play store. Obviously I'm asking this as I'm somewhat clueless and am very possibly missing something, so if someone could please explain I'd greatly appreciate it!!
Thanks in advance!
Gapps should have the same signature and package name as the ones from the play store.
Any updates will thus still be available.
Also, Gapps includes the play store...so without installing them you'd have no place to get applications.

true, I learned this the hard way. :good:
People flash gapps as its needed to access their Google account, which includes access to the play store.
You could still install apps from a backup, for example.

I am rooted and I followed all the steps in that thread.
did you dis-associate your wallet account before they did the repair? if not, it permanently is broken.
I had a similar issue, but on a custom ROM. It required me reflash the ROM, wipe cache's, install googlewallet via the flashable zip (via CWM), and then starting the phone (basically I think I needed the file in the system/app folder before i booted).
Please provide more info about your phone. Have you flashed anything before? Have you always been stock? How did you install the Google Wallet app (flash or run the installer)? Did you change your build.prop settings (you can check in the settings about phone section to see if the build.prop changes are working). Have you installed Google Wallet on any other ROM's (if you have in fact flashed anything else)?

I'm going to try transplanting these apks into a Sprint Stock 4.1.2 ROM zip and installing. I'll let ya know what happens after.
Great work! Do you have the the original odexed apks available? Trying to install the gmail app as an apk on stock unrooted 4.1.2.

Huh? The Gmail app is a system app. It needs to be installed to /system/app. You cannot install it without root access.

You can side load updated versions of system apps without root access, and you get a notice that the app will replace a current system app but preserve user data. Whenever the Play Store app is updated and gets extracted and posted all over the forums, I just side load, agree to the warning and proceed. However, the system app that is being side loaded needs to be in an installable apk format which I understand to be its native odex format.

Although I'm no expert, I believe it still won't work. The reason you can install the apk extracted from the Play Store is because it is not a system app. It gets installed to /data/app. Apk's that come with a stock build are system apps, and cannot be installed into /data/app. They need to be installed into /system/app. Nothing can replace anything that is stored in /system unless you have root access. (/system is mounted as read-only in Android.)

If I can get an odex'ed apk I'll either prove myself wrong or show everyone a way to side load an updated system app without root.

Be my guest. Here ya go: http://www.androidtaskforce.com/2012/11/01/download-lg-nexus-4-system-dump/
Just an update. I was able to insert a few of the apps into an install zip and get them working with no problems. Wallet, keyboard, currents, play music, browser, Google +, and a couple others worked just fine. Gmail did not as I couldn't just insert all the framework apks as it would force close right away. Nothing ground breaking, but the new features are fun to see and experiment with.
The photosphere feature is very neat. I like the GPS embedded aspect of it too. YouTube seems to have a slicker interface. All in all 4.2 is very much improved over 4.1.2. I can't wait for that fresh aosp source!
[Q] JMT 6 - Anyone able to get Mobile Print out of the "Goodybag" app to install?
Edit - Meant to say Mobile Print app out of the Goodybag.
First - Great ROM. I've used the last three versions, and so far, it's been a keeper. :good:
Second - I did the usual: Flashed new version over previous version. Tried to install the app, afterwards. When it didn't install, I performed a wipe using TWRP. When that didn't work, I did a fresh install (Complete wipe using Infamous followed by a TWRP wipe then followed by an install of JMT 6).
I haven't had any other issues with this ROM. I just saw this app in PTMR's goodybag, and it would be nice if I could use it.
Actually, there is one more thing: Anyone been able to get Smart Stay to work?
You should be able to extract the Apk from the prior rom's zip and then install it on the new version. If it's one that needs to be installed as a system app, you will need to use a root explorer app to set the permissions.

The app didn't exist in the prior version. The "Goodybag" is additional apps that can be loaded after the ROM installation. Granted, a few apps were included on previous ROM versions, but Mobile Print wasn't one of them.
I've already tried the side install method to make it a system app. Checked permissions, etc. App still won't install.

Yeah that's a rough one then. Sorry to say but I've don't have any other suggestions if setting the permissions as a system app didn't work.

Oh well. I'll need to email PTMR3 about this. (Been trying to get past the 10 post minimum so I can post directly in the development threads. If it weren't for that, I could ask PTMR3 in his thread. lol.) Thanks for your input, anyway. It's appreciated.
Well, I found out that this app only works with Samsung printers and the app itself is available on the Play Store. Since I don't have a Samsung printer, I'm not going to concern myself with this, anymore.
How do we load the items in the goodybag? I downloaded 3 items and tried to load the from zip via CWM but it ended up getting my phone stuck in a boot loop. I ended up having to flash JMT all over again and start from scratch. Obviously I did something wrong. I've searched all over the forums and all I can find is something about using Aroma to install them, but the process looks confusing.

* I successfully installed Official 4.4.2 via WiFi.
* I rooted it using ODIN with this file: CF-Auto-Root-jfltetmo-jfltetmo-sghm919.tar
* Installed SuperSU & Titanium backup
* I also installed CWM 6.0.4.4 Touch Recovery using ODIN: OUDHS-Recovery-jfltetmo-1.0.3.3.tar
* Removed several bloat using titanium.
All works good, except it is not letting me to add google account. "Problem communicating with Google severs". It has been more than 24 hours, I still get the same message.
I could go to my gmail account using web browser, but it is not letting me to add google account. So there is nothing wrong with servers.
So now I can't login to play store at all.
Any help is highly appreciated!!
Thanks!
Only thing i can think of is installing the latest play store & play services (they're probably newer than 4.4 stock) and wiping data for both
Worked! Thank you!!
