Hello,
I've just installed cyanogen 10 and it rocks ! Well done arco for your good work !
I followed instruction for installing the rom i.e wipe cache/data/dalvik and install from zip. It went well.
But when I go to Photo gallery I have the following error : no external storage available
In fact, I can't access my sdcard. I tried to fix permission in clockwork and doesn't solve my problem. In clockwork, I see that my /sdcard folder contains my old data.
So my question is : did I miss something during the installation ? Do I need to format /sdcard ?
Thanks in advance for your help
Regards
Hello,
This morning I fixed my problem. I did a format of all partition (even /sdcard) and let only /external_sdcard unformated (with my .zip files). I reinstall the mod and everything is fine, I get all my partition back and don't have the error anymore.
If this can help someone
Regards

what are the steps to format /sdcard? do i do it on phone or computer? can you write steps to show me what to do? thanks
Hi dmariadas,
You simply have to boot to recovery mode. When in, go to "Mounts and restore" menu and then format all exept /external_sd.

Hi,
I have Cyanogenmod 7 on my Desire.
And I'm running Ubuntu 11.04 on my PC.
I copied the contents of my SD Card and the Apps2SD Partition (including hidden files), erased my SD Card and formatted it again (ext3 and FAT32), copied everything back (including hidden files) and now I get a boot loop.
-I used MicroSD>SD Card Adapter>PC
-I can access recovery
-I reduced the size of the ext partition from 1GB to 700MB
-I didn't make a nandroid backup before I did this.
-I changed the label of the ext partition.
-I'm using this for Apps2SD
Is there possibly some sort of temporary files/cache I can delete to make it work?
Thanks

The order of the partitions have to be FAT32 followed by the ext3 (and not viceversa)...Is it?

They are in that order (unless you mean formatted first?)
The important thing is that the first partition is a fat32, and the second the ext
From the recovery menu try to see if it can mount the ext partition (try just a mount/unmount of the sd-ext to check if the recovery can access the ext) otherwise u can format it from the recovery and then copy back the files from ur pc car reader
U can also try wiping cache and dalvik cache, but don't think will have effects
Otherwise I have no other ideas

If the recovery can acces the ext, will just say u that is mounted (so everything is ok regarding that partition), otherwise u will get an error like "E:Can't mount dev/block/mmcblk0p2", in this last case u can try formatting the ext from the recovery menu, then restore the files in it (previously backupped) manually

I went to the recovery menu and then I chose mounts and storage then I chose mount /sd-ext and then nothing happens. I can go and chose unmount /sd-ext, nothing changes except the text that says mount/unmount. No error messages.
What do I do now?

Why u didn't make a nandroid backup? A simple solution now will be to do a fresh install of ur rom again...
Anyway change the thread title.."Boot loop" is too generic, edit it as Boot loop after sdcard repartition URGENT, something like this...(To edit it just edit the first post title)
I hope someone else here can help u..I dont have other ideas, if the sdext is correclty read from the recovery, mean even ur rom should read it and should boot..How much time did u wait? are u sure the boot continue to loop? Go in recovery, wipe cache and dalvik, reboot and wait..U could also do "adb logcat" when ur phone is booting..Search for some guides for it..That will show u some possible errors during the boot that make ur phone bootlooping
Also try this: i read somewhere the ext partition label must be sd-ext (some a2sd script use the label to idenify the partition)(this label is automatically applied when u create/format the ext from the recovery, but as u created the partition ur self from the pc, put that label and see what happen)

HELP!!!!!!!!
Hi Guys
I have a relly rare problem with my phone. The main problem is that i can't charge it. When I put it on the charger for probbably 10 sec. is charging (orange indicator) but then start blinking orange/green.
I tried also connect to PC, result is the same.
I thought that the problem will be in battery, but today at work I tried college battery and the problem is still the sme.
The funniest thing is, that I can turn - on my phone, get into boot-loader etc, but when i try to turn it on, it starts loading everything work's fine, but just begore the system is loaded (i can see the status bar, loading sd card), the phone shut down.
I really don't know what to do. I tried hard reset, restore backup from original HTC OS, turn on with/without sd card .... i think that everything
Could you help me somehow ?
Thanks
PS: sorry for my english
My boot loader is HBOOT-6-01.1002
RADIO-3.35.20.10
and i'm using Cyanogen Mod 7.03
try without the sdcard! sounds like something may be corrupt on it. if it all works fine without the card then i think a format is necessary ...... this will delete all sdcard data so make a backup 1st then start transfering needed things back slowly, testing a reboot on each new folder etc transfered. or run a disk check of sdcard on pc.
you could also try a fresh flash of the rom too.

Alright, looks familiar btw (exactly like mine lol) - did you have an ext partition? If not: any apps on sd? You said that you flashed the ROM again - did you format or wipe the system partition before? (If you run into ROM related probs most of the time it won't help just to flash the ROM over because the problems might resist).

Yes, i moved many apps on sd-card (i probbably don't have any ext partition, but not sure)
After new flash (if it mean's instaling new from from sd card) i used wipe dalvik cache, but after installation, not before.
So could you tell mr kind of step by step introductions what should I do, because i'm not really good in this stuff :-/
Thanks
Try flashing the rom again but with full wipes, not just dalvik cache. But also cache, data & system. After you do the wipes reflash your rom (and Gapps if needed). This will delete all your apps, SMSs and contacts though...

So i wiped data/factory reset, wipe cache partition, wipe dalvik cache, then installed cyanogen mod 7.2.0, but the problem still persists.
Now i think the problem will be somewhere with the apps on sd-card, because before the phone shut down, i can see in status bar text "preparing sd card" ....
Is there anything else i can do ?
and i didn't try flashing gapps, because i dont know what to do ? ... i need to download some zip and install it from sd ? or ?
Thanks

yes: remove those apps (you could do a backup with titanium backup) and try again. You did mention that earlier - a full wipe seems pretty useless if you leave parts that interact on a FAT32 partition... (or do you use an ext partition?).
If you start fresh without any apps on sd you could at least exclude this from the list of possible causes
To make this clear: from my experience there rarely will be one single easy action you could do to solve a persistant problem. Therefore most of the time it helps to follow all the steps of those procedures very careful, systematic and throw lazyness over board
So I'd do a full wipe/new install following this procedure:
format /system, /data
wipe /dalvik-cache, /cache
wipe all/factory reset
flash ROM
flash gapps
reboot without sdcard first (just to make sure)
and i didn't try flashing gapps, because i dont know what to do ? ... i need to download some zip and install it from sd ? or ?

You'll need the correct gapps for your Android version and flash it right after flashing the ROM (has to be done as gapps are freely available by Google but aren't allowed to include into custom ROMs due to licences)
Gapps could be found here: http://goo.im/gapps
So i will try full / wipe (new installation)
I just don't know what you mean by "format /system, /data" and how to do it ... is it somewhere in recovery mode ? or there is any app for it ?
"(or do you use an ext partition?)" - not sure I created somthing probabbly like that, because i wanted to move my apps on sd card ... but not sure ... i'm pretty lame in this stuff.

yes, depends on your version where to find it - it's at "mounts and storage" / "format" here (if I'm not mistaken - sorry too lazy to go there now)

if you "created something" or have all your apps on sd you most probably have an ext partition which you should format/wipe, too, then (after backing up your apps...)
didn't help
formated /system, /data /sd-ext
wipe /dalvik-cache, /cache
wipe all/factory reset
then installed rom from zip , after that i installed google aps, turn it off (because of inserted sd card) than turn it on without sdcard .... but problem is still the same
Use the guide in my signature. First to unroot and S-ON. Then wipe SD card.
Then root again (also in sig), hopefully it'll be gone.

good idea. Having this said it might also be a good idea to carefully check your micro USB slot (this also causes a faulty behaviour with the car dock app sometimes) - you could give it a blast with compressed air to blow out particles (but be careful not to blow the stuff inside the phone).
Hello folks,
Recently I have flashed CM 10 via CWM 6.0.3.2 on my Samsung Galaxy W. (I followed this procedure: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1990795)
Everything worked out fine (yay) exept for two issues I have:
1. My SGW doesn't recognize my Sd card (internal) at all. (though internal is mounted in cwm menu)
I have several folders regarding my sd and external sd:
- sdcard> tells me it is "unplugged" (in German> translation might differ) when I enter via file manager
- mnt/sdcard> here it tells me my sd card is unplugged as always
- storage/sdcard0> unplugged
- external_sd> it tells me sd card unplugged if I enter
- mnt/external_sd >here I can enter all of my folders
- storage/sdcard1> here I can enter again
2. My SGW can't mount my external sd anymore. I can clearly enter my external sd's files, but apparently I cannot mount my PC. Especially not with Multimount because it requests me to mount my internal sd (issue 1).
So how do I get it to work properly? - is it possible to do it via Terminal Emulator?
Specifications:
- Samsung Galaxy W
- Android Version 4.1.2.
- Kernel Version: 3.0.80-cyanogenmod-gc689589
[email protected] #1
- Cyanogenmod Version: 10-20130605- UNOFFICIAL-ancora
Thanks a lot in advance
Hi, I have similar issues with internal storage after flashing to 4.2.2 and also 4.1.2. Model is galaxy W previously 2.3.6 stock.
At root, i have
/data, which seems to be my internal storage as the FX file explorer show it has a storage of 1.07gb
/external_sd, which contains my files in micro sd card
/sdcard, which ES say SDCard unmounted
/storage, which contains sdcard0 (SDCard unmounted), sdcard1 (micro sd), usbdisk (SDCard unmounted)
In the andriod settings > storage, I can see internal storage with total space 1.07gb, but unable to mount it.
My camera and gallery says "No external storage available".
What should I do? Please help

This can be done for the SDcard you can unplug and plug directly to an other device like an PC, but not with the internal.
So better try the following. Secure your files if you can. Reboot into recovery and format there both. Rebooot into CM10 or whatever ROM you are using and change your USB operation mode from MTP to Mass Storage.

You probably mean back to stock Samsung ROM. But how will this fix corrupted partitions? And why "must" if there are probably more simple ways to fix it rather than flashing roms forth and back?
First of all he should format both and switch to Mass Storage mode to see if this fixes his issue. Flashing ROMs still can be tryied as a last resort.

I think you are mixing something up. First of all he didn´t say he can´t mount / access it from CWM Recovery but from a running ROM. This is two different things so it still should be possible to access both in CWM Recovery and to do a format.
Secound. Flashing a ROM will not format the internal Storage but only the partition where the ROM will be flashed to. They are not the same, so this is also two different things. So even if you flash a ROM but are having corrupted SDcards (Internal and external) they will stay corrupted till you fix this.
And this is why I suggested to first boot into RECOVERY, format both and finally after rebooting change to Mass Storage as the MTP Mode is not always working very well. If this doesn´t help he still can flash back to stock ROM.
However now I´m just repeating what I already said before. If you can´t get it, then I´m sorry for you.

Hello,
I have a lill Problem, yesterday i saw the new version of Ulitmate HD, so i thought i give it a try, i made my backups and stuff, placed the update_xperia_ultimate_hd_4.0 on my SD-Card and booted into CWM.
did the following steps
wipe data/factory reset
- wipe cache partition
- mount and storage -> format /system
- advanced -> wipe dalvik cache
- advanced -> wipe battery stats
Click to collapse
and tried to install the FILE, mhh no file with the name update_xperia_ultimate_hd_4.0 on my SD card, or at least its not showing up in CWM, there was just a file update.zip. i thought maybe thats the ROM file so i tried to use it,
but it didnt work i get an error
E: Cant mount /sdcard/update.zip
Installation aborted.
soo i flashed the stock ROM again 4.1.B.1.13, rooted my phone again, xparts for cwm, downloaded Ulitmate HD again, and copied it on my SD Card..
Same Error again, i can only see the update.zip file in CWM not the update_xperia_ultimate_hd_4.0.
what is the problem ? did i miss sth ? it worked without any problems with the old ultimate version.
thx for the help
Sorry for the trouble, i just renamed the file to update.zip and it is working,
amazing ROM :good:
Hi,
I have installed twrp 3.1..1 recovery. Wanted to update android version to 7 but when I did the advance format from the twrp recovery, its start giving error says unable to mount /data and /system. When I install the rom zip file, at the end it is giving error says Unable to mount /data and /system (invalid argument).
I did googling and tried to find the solution, but problem persist.
Is there any solution and suggestion to get it solved.
Thanks

Open recovery (twrp) go into WIPE>FORMAT DATA then type 'YES' to confirm. This will wipe all your data including media such as photos videos music, etc so make sure you have a backup of all your stuff before proceeding. The recovery will then restart. This fixed it for me and is most reliable.

.
If this doesn't help then another method is- Wipe>>advanced wipe>> select data and system and select REPAIR OR CHANGE FILE SYSTEM. In there select ext-4 and then repair. Once the process is done your recovery will be working.

Thank You,
But I did not find the option to choose ext-4 while Repairing or changing the file system.
Any alternate method would appreciated.
Thanks
