Hey im new here so im not sure if there is already a troubleshooting thread for the ace 2 here, but anyway,
My ace 2 wont start properly. It was working fine until i restarted it. Now it goes to the logo, vibrates once or twice, then goes to a black screem.
Ive tried pulling the battery, factory data reset, clearing the cache, but nothing works!
My phone is rooted (but its been rooted for quite a while now), and its running a custom rom (jelly cream). It experienced the same booting problem before after i flashed the jellycream rom but it started after i flashed a completely unrelated rom that was intented for unrooting my phone.
Can anybody offer some help?
Cos i know that the ace 2 cant connect to the computer without enabling the usb sharing mode, and i have absolutely no idea what to do.

Go to download mode 1st? And sometimes you have to reboot the PC to make it recognizes the phone.

Yeah hold down power plus vol up plus home to get into download mode. Then plug it into your computer

What did you do to the phone prior to restarting it? Did you flash a ROM (which ROM)?
What version of the Ace II do you have?
AW: [Q] Help! Ace 2 wont start!
I had the same problem. Can you get into download mode? If the answer is yes then simplx flash a new Rom. Use a Stock Rom or the original one.
I had the problem that download mode didn't work (I don't know why) so i tried volume up+ volume down+ Home+ power (i don't know what that make but i found this somewhere in the internet) And then i was able to come into download mode and I flashed a new ROM

Yesterday i rooted and tried to install a Rom and used Rom manager to go into recovery mode. I thought you had to do the down+home+power and now when I try to do anything it wont work power button 20 sec , power+home , up/down+power+home,nothing.When i tried plug it into the computer it makes that sound when something failed to connect to the pc. When i tried holding the power button i hear the sound of the device successfully connect to the pc but when i look theres no phone on the computer and when i let go of the power button it stops. Any help would be very much appreciated and i will never do anything to risk my device being broken again...
What did you install? Link the ROM or at least the name of the ROM.

Did you modify your build.prop?
Can you still access the download mode? If yes try to flash back a stock rom with odin.
Or remove the battery and try again to boot up in download mode.

Try a different usb slot sometimes a usb slot may malfunction I had that problem.
Also don't use a usb extender hub if you are it may screw with the voltage.
a new usb I'm sure you've heard that one but this has the least chance of working because you the s3 makes the noise which means the usb works
Try a new computer and check that you have Kies installed
Try to restart the laptop that also helps
Hope I helped you out

Unfortunately, I have this exact same problem. I'm really scared that I may have bricked my device...
The last time my phone was working, I simply updated my phone to CM10's latest update for the phone. Everything was working perfectly fine. All I did was download the latest rom from get.cm for my sgs3.
Then I read online that this new 4.1.2 rom came out. As a new member XDA won't allow me to post the link of the rom...but you can find it in the Original Development Thread of the T-Mobile SGS3. Slim-i9300-2.7.0-OFFICIAL is the name of the rom [I copied it directly].
After making a backup of my current rom, installing this rom and installing the new gapps, I rebooted the device and nothing has worked since... [this happened about 12 hours ago].
Now, when I take out the battery and plug the charger in, the notification light becomes solid red. But nothing works...I can't go into download mode, I can't go into recovery. I knew this immediately when the phone did not vibrate after me holding down the power button for a few minutes.
The red notification light only turns on when I plug in the phone when the battery is out. If I put the battery in, after a few moments it goes away. I honestly thought maybe the battery was just dead...but I left it plugged in all night and I still can't do anything with the phone.
Please, any help for me and whtnld would be much appreciated...
@OP
Did you mod the build.prop for any reason? (Google wallet maybe?)
If you did and then tried to update/install recovery through Rom Manager, it may have tried to install the wrong recovery on the wrong partition, resulting in a hard brick.

You flashed an intl rom. Hard bricked. Need JTAG repair or replace unit.
I was about to say, isn't the i9300 the intl version? the tgh-t999 is the TMOUS version.
You have to let go of the power button to get into recovery.

Easy Way to find out if it's hard bricked is to connect your phone to pc... If pc displays qhsusb - I forget what else then you are hard bricked and need to jtag fix it which should run you around 60 buxs. Sorry bud if that's the case but next time don't flash anything i9300 if you have a t999

Can you boot into download mode? Volume Down + home + power button?
Sent from my SGH-T999
Rom manager is too buggy imo. Goo manager and TWRP recovery is the way to go next time.
Hey... i searched for a solution and couldn't find one....
So i tried to install the Omega rom, the process went by pretty quickly, that's when i became suspicious.
Now i can turn my phone on, but there is something... strange... for instance once the screen turns off, the phone plays dead until i restart it.
i can get into download mode, and i did, tried to install cwm6 again, but it didnt work.
and if i try to go into recovery mode (vol up home and power) it just hangs on the "Samsung galaxy note 2 n-7100" screen.
Thanks for the help in advance =]
edit: Forgot to mention, if i plug it into the pc, windows/kies doesn't recognise it.
:< Please help me i am completly lost and beating my self up for trying this foolishness
Did u check "usb debug" on your device? Try samsung driver instead.
Try reflash recovery via pc odin again.
Might wanna try TWRP as people have been having issues with CWM when flashing ROM's.
Hey thanks for the answers, i indeed check usb debugging and it is on.
i also relized i SOMEHOW managed to download the galaxy s3 rom instead of the note 2 rom and flash it, and i guess thats the problem, however im sure it didnt flash right, any way i downloaded the correct rom and flashed it using mobile odin, every thing worked fine
however i still cant get into recovery mod, and the problem where the device stays in sleep mode is still there...
Im going to try this TWRP thingy now

By the way, as noted by Adam Outler, you should not use ODIN to continuously flash ROM's. Just to reset phone if needed. Using ODIN to flash ROM's will only turn out badly.

im using 2.0, i tried every usb port on my pc just in case....
The thing is it used to work earlier, before ive gone and messed it all up
Sorry you're not having much luck. Maybe one of the brilliant devs will hop in and lend some thoughts. I'm out of ideas at the moment.
Thanks any way dude, appreciate it.
Im going to sleep, but let me reiterate the problem.
- Tried to flash a Galaxy s3 rom onto the Note 2, dont ask me how i made this mistake
- something.. happened during the flash
- now the phone wouldn't connect to usb (so i cant use odin) and after the screen turns off it wont turn back on again without switching the device off and on
- eventually downloaded the note 2 rom (omega) and flashed it using mobile odin, this time the proccess finished fine, but...
-Still cant connect the phone to the pc usb, (it charges tho, drivers are installed)
-Screen still wont come back on after it turns off
Shameless bump =[
Man.......
im guessing this problem is not a common one eh?
I hate to spam but im really lost, having this 600$ mirrior feels bad :<
Have you tried flashing a stock rom with odin mobile? I've not used odin mobile so I have no idea what it can and can't do. But you could try flashing a stock rom and then put Cwm or twrp after you have checked it

Ok guys, I'm no noob but this phone has me stumped. Sold my S2 to a friend with Jedi on it. Worked good for a while and he said it started acting erratic. So I do a factory reset and it gets to the part where it says updating applications. Gets to about 70-90 and reboots and does it all over again. So I reflash it with TWRP to latest Jedi. Still the same. Gets to 70-90 updating apps and reboots. I tried putting it in download mode to factory flash it but it boots back into TWRP instead. It charges fine although the computer does not recognize it even though I have kies installed with latest drivers. I've flashed several different roms with same result. Gets to updating applications and freezes and reboots. Is there an alternate method for getting this thing into download mode? I fear it may be hardware related though it was booting and semi working when he brought it to me.

If you can't get into download mode the way @smokinjoe2122 said, you are probably going to need a USB jig. You can find them on ebay for a few dollars. Make sure it is T989 compatible before you buy it.
The thing I would try first is take the battery out for five minutes, put it back in and then try getting into download mode.
Keep in mind that even with the jig, you may not be able to get it to work.

Not true and that wouldn't keep it from going into d/l mode. And I only installed kies after I couldn't get odin to recognize it to see if kies would. I have a second T989 (unlocked bootloader) that works just fine with both programs installed. I suspected that maybe he got the phone wet at some point and he said he had indeed. I think this is whats causing the issues. Phone charges fine but no program will read it.
So a few months ago , I flashed my phone with JMT v5. Nothing was wrong with it until a few days ago when I turned it on and started a bootloop. So I figured, I'll just restore it to stock . Then I went to try and plug my phone in the PC & it wouldn't recognize it. I tried re-downloading the drivers, super wipe and nothing worked. I can get into recovery mode.. just not download mode to use ODIN. I need help !

It is known on this model that the power button sticks. Some have fixed it by taking it apart and blowing it work compressed air. Others have had to solder a new button on tough. I fixed mine with air luckily. It was doing the exact same thing. You could try tapping it against something ( the power button ) to see if it will boot completely.

if you can get into recovery mode then dl my ROM Shadow_Final which has recovery 2.6 built into it and push it to your phone while your device is in download mode either with adb push or using the mount feature in most recoveries.. which recovery are you on right now?
this will help if you have a decent working power button.

Rom Manager most likely partitioned your INTERNAL SD Card instead. You'd have to Flash Root66 for Android 4.2 via Odin.

I was on the pac 4.4 nightly, had flashed new nightly updates regularly for nearly a month with no problems, but then decided to switch to cm11, when I tried to flash that it gave me the bootloader error, so I went to the method that was a supposed fix for that and flashed it and thats when it went dead.
Same Problem
Hey guys I have the same exact problem heres how it started, which I think accurately describes everyone else with the same problem:
1) I downloaded the correct TWRP for my phone and unlocked it previously with ODIN.
2) So far everything is fine, now I find a nice new ROM which is stable and try to flash it. The rom was: FlashingDroid_S5_v2.2
3)First I deleted cache and dalvic cache as well, basically the default wipe.
4) I flashed the ROM and it said it was succesful, I click reboot, and nothing
Symptoms
1)No vibration
2)No screen image whatsoever
3)No signs of booting up with computer
4) Does not boot up using JIG method
5)Computer does not see phone
Notes
1) I tried checking the pulse of the phone W/out battery and gave me very little wattage, and eventually it drained out
2) Then I tried plugging it into my computer and the front red light went on but no power in phone and PC cannot see it
3) Sometimes when I put the battery in, it gives me a quick flash, from the flashlight on the back, OR it gives a millisecond of a vibration
4)Before I flashed I had android 4.3 Jellybean stock with root-again I tried to flash FlashingDroid_S5_v2.2 w/TWRP
Trials to resolve in which did NOT work
1) I tried putting it into download mode, with JIG but no battery and had someone put the battery in WHILE i was pressing HOME+POWER+VOLUME DOWN with the JIG
Results: It sometimes gave me a small vibration, but no results
2) Tried to install correct ODIN and KIES software
Result: Gave me negative sound on laptop meaning it does not recognize device-it does not show up in My Computer either
Having the same issue.
I used the FlashingDroid_S5_v2.2 rom. Wiped the phone before flashing, the prompt said successful and rebooted.
Then nothing.
No response from charging, power, download mode... nothing.
