UNLIMITED Online Storage(backup) Promo Code - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

Hello all, I found something cool that I thought I'd share, mods please let me know if this is in wrong section etc, also I am in no way affiliated with the company...
So we always see online backup/storage with limits but I tripped across a service named Bitcasa that gives you unlimited, the catch? It costs money but it's worth it.
Promo Code: BETATHANKS makes it $50/year instead of $100/yr
Website: http://bitcasa.com/
Android App Play Store Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bitcasa.android&feature=nav_result

Cool! Thanks for the sharing.

Free Sim Unlock For T-Mobile Dash

been reading through all these forums and have not been able to find out a FREE way to unlock a T-Mobile Dash. everyone keeps telling ppl who are asking to read the threads but there's really only 1 thread about unlocking the sim and you have to pay. why is jocky selling something that he isn't paying for? i think he needs to just post the program or the method he is using like has been done for most other phones. i own a touch pro and was able to unlock it very easily using these forums....so whats so special about the dash unlock?
Why is Jocky selling something he isnt paying for? Isnt that what Microsoft does? I guess they should give us Vista for free too (no thanks)
LMFAO, if its that easy why dont you write the program to do the unlock like Jocky did? We could all benefit, true, but so far nobody else has the knowledge and he is much cheaper than the alternative online unlockers.

Totally agree, Jocky provides a service that is cheaper than the alternatives, also a good rep and fast service....
trackhouse1, count your blessings, There is lot information, programs and roms, available here for free! Some guys may ask for a donation, but that is a small price to pay for something you find useful. You can play it safe and pay some this site trusts or shop around and take your chances. I had my daughter's Dash unlocked by someone using JIC Electronics Software, Paid $16 via PP an hour later I had a web site and password. Downloaded the software and connected the Dash. Choose the Dash on the drop down screen, scans the Dash and gives you the unlock code. Granted I took a chance and came out smellin like Rose. Had I found this site before I unlocked the Dash I would have used Jocky's service because his track record. There is no free lunch, so unless you want to change carriers, you have a useless phone that you Paid $$ just to sit there. JMO.

trackhouse1 is right. This is not a pay-site, if you read the "about xda-developers.com" you will see that the people who started this site don't even make money off it. I thought that the idea behind forums like xda-devlopers.com is that they are communities where people go to share information, and hopefully work together to solve issues. That jocky dude is coming on to this free forum and trying to capitalize on the fact that he can provide this service that no one else can. Go start an imei-check.com-like website then and let us work together on finding the answer then. Posting how you have a solution but need to get paid for it is counter productive, why look for a solution some one already has? And if its cheaper than going to another web-based service, he comes out looking like a saint. The dude is coming on to a free community and f_cking everyone, including the people who started this site. He says he's accepting donations for unlocking etc., therefore using this site as an advertising medium for his services, but I don't see a star next to his name...meaning he's not donating sh_t! People who continue to give this guy money, people who thank him for what he's doing, are destroying this forum. Its supposed to be the a community based on the free sharing of information and helping other members. So what if Microsoft charges money for Vista, they are a multi-billion dollar corporation that pays a lot of money for their advertising, not some greedy as_hole who is trying to come up on members of a FREE forum.

I think as a noob you should check what jockyw2001 has braught to XDA and many of the things free, do a bit of research then come out with silly comments....
I stick to my original post about the service etc, etc ,etc...
Definitely go with Jocky he is the best I know.
T-Mobile will give you the unlock code for free. If you did not get the Dash from T-Mobile then pay jocky and quite crying about it.
Membership here is free, but the founders do make money (perhaps not a lot, they just may break even most of the time) why else do you think ads are being displayed? for fun? LMFAO

Are you for real? I had a Mio c220 a few months ago, it took me 3 months to create a way to unlock the actual windows ce environment, everyone said it could not be done.. did I give it away for free after three months of hard work, you bet your ass I didnt! While I am more then willing to share what I do, create, discover I also have no problem asking for a fee if it required a bit of time and work on my part. See thats called reality Perhaps you could use a dose of it and stop thinking everyone elses hard work should be handed to you on a silver platter
You people are ridiculous. All I was trying to say is that it is f-c-ed up that this guy is using a free forum to advertise his service. If some one from imei-check.com were posting threads with a link to their site, or even worse doing direct sales through this forum, the posts would be deleted for "spamming". Like you said, the owners of this site at least break even from advertising...meaning that companies pay to advertise on this site. Jocky doesn't even have a star next to his name, he hasn't paid the owners sh_t! Who needs to do their research?? I am well aware of how much this jocky dude has done to help people on this site. Most of the time its with info they could find by google searching, though. I may be a "noob" to this site, if that's an issue then don't read what I have to say. I was just trying to unlock this stupid dash as a favor for a friend anyway. But they got a better phone, so I could actually care less about getting the unlock code for myself. I just feel like this jocky is a greedy mutherf-cker. Do your f-cking research...he's making a lot of money, and not even paying to advertise like all the other companies have to do.

Jocky IS NOT a bad guy. Just think: Your time, your efforts, and a lot of resources by researching a main thing that would help a lot of people.. that costs money. Be smart: you wont post your hard work for other people's pocket. Thats brilliant, thats smart from him. Is not greedy, or, he's charging $$$ as imei-check or someone who f*cks your pockets?
Dont be stupid, dont say b*ll****.. Or did u work in your office (in case you are a employee) for free ?

What are jocky's personal accountant, that you know how much $$ or doesn't make? You come into this forum and badmouth and cuss out some you don't even know, just because YOU ASSUME that he is making a boat load of $$. Also if you want to get technical about it jocky does not advertise in this forum. He has 1 thread where he offers his services to those people who choose to use them. I don't seem to be bombarded on every page with jockys unlocking service. If you think you can get it for free then get your butt on google and find your free service. Paying someone a small fee to unlock a phone or even paying some for a Rom that I like and use is no big deal. Believe me this site gives us enough free things. The most important this being KNOWLEDGE.
anabully do us all a favor take a long walk off a short pier and take your foul mouth with you.
I don't know who is right or wrong, and I don't wanna go deeper about it, but the author of this topic is right about complaining.
The whole point is: Why pay for unlocking Excalibur while you can unlock other models (from htc and other brands) for free?
About Jocky (or anyone, or any company) charging us for unlocking is not the point.
What's so special in Excalibur that you can't find a free tool to unlock it? That's the point!
Regards
you can either buy the phone from tmobile, then pay for 3 months service, then get the FREE code from them, then pay a $200 disconnect fee..BAM there is your free code
or you can pay jocky a minimal fee to do it for you
stop *****ing about a service that is saving you money...or go figure out how to do it your god damn self.

[Q] Developers & Donations

I'm very curious: how much donations are developers getting from their ROM's? Is it very lucrative?
Are there any academic studies/publications in this regard?
Anyways, I just got the $50 Google Play credit courtesy of Samsung. I refuse to pay $18 for Smurf 2 movie. I would rather find a way to forward the credit to hard working developers on XDA. Any suggestion on how to go about doing so?

The only way to use the credit is for something in the Google Play Store and Devices are not included in that list.
I don't know of any ROM's which are distributed via Google Play though.
There are developers who have created tools that are though, Developers of SuperSU, SuperUser, Titainium Backup to name a few. Most of them root required.
Oh, if you have not used the redeem code, you could forward that on to someone else and they could then use it. But after it is redeemed, I don't think you can transfer any of it.

[Q] Free or paid in Play store

At the moment I’m finishing my first set of Zooper widgets with clock elements and weather forecast elements. I'd like to deploy them thru the Play store and so I have to choose to make them free or paid. I'd like to continue making widgets for Zooper and it would be great if I can earn some money with it...
So, are there some written or unwritten guidelines when to publish for free or when to publish a paid extension?

Thanks Kwerdenker. I already did some testing using the guide from the Zooper website, and I had success but unpublished the app (It was only for testing and finding out the process).
I see that you have all your widgets (which are very nice!) free online. What's your reason to post them free?

The main three reasons:
1) I do this as a hobby. I have fun doing it and will do it, even if no one pays me.
2) If you are selling stuff on the Play Store, you are responsible for paying the appropriate taxes. You also have to deal with tax laws in each country you sell your app/widget in. For the amount of money I could make of this after Play Store cut and taxes, the additional workload is just too high.
3) I have a good paying job and thus I'm not dependent on additional funds.
I give most of mine away because of the encryption bug for jelly bean. I sell a few. Been working hard on trying to smash that bug. Bunch of us Zooper devs have. I make enough usually to pay my $55 a month aio/straight talk bill. Really I do it for fun. I work full time and i use it as an excuse to play on my phone. (I'm almost 40!)

Thanks for your explanation. I’ve read some about the tax issues and that is indeed a good reason not to sell Too bad Google does not handle these taxes their selves and is every small developer by law obligated to know the law in every country he sells.

edit: The taxes don't bother me at all. Google takes 30% off the top which is what does bother me. But without Google where would we be? Surely wouldn't have Android.

New Freebie from Samsung!

Today, Samsung announced a new Kindle for Samsung app through their Samsung Apps Store. Rather than trying to rewrite their blog post (http://global.samsungtomorrow.com/?p=35871), i'll just copy from their summary:
- Samsung and Amazon agreed to launch ‘Kindle for Samsung’, a custom-built eBook service offering millions of best-selling books, newspapers and magazines on readers’ mobile devices including over 500,000 exclusive titles.
- Samsung and Amazon will also launch Samsung Book Deals, a service providing 12 free eBooks a year to all Kindle for Samsung Galaxy smartphone and tablet users. (Basically, they let you choose one of four books to get for free every month).
I already installed the app. It looks better than the official Kindle app in my opinion. And the first 4 free books to choose from are already up.

What con are you talking about? Samsung is offering books for free. Books that you would otherwise need to pay for.
And contrary to what you posted, the Apocalypse Z book is not free. I went to the link you suggested. Doesn't look legit or legal. I searched for some other books that I know are not free (The Goldfinch, Hunger Games, LOTR). Guess what? They all came up as 'free' with a 'download now' button next to them. But not before the download link took me to two (yes, two) other sites (usearchmedia(.)com and mediasuns(.)com). And of course, there was the obligatory disclaimer at the bottom of the ebook-share site:
"DISCLAIMER: None of the files shown here are actually hosted or transmitted by this server. The links are provided solely by this sites users. The administrator of this site cannot be held responsible for what its users post, or any other actions of its users. You may not use this site to distribute or download any material when you do not have the legal rights to do so. It is your own responsibility to adhere to these terms."
Why would you criticize Samsung for providing free LEGAL books, call it a con, and then point users to some crap illegal file-sharing site?

Yes, there's a lot of free stuff for Android. Still, I like where Samsung is going. They are really pushing hard to separate themselves from Google, Amazon, and all the other manufacturers. If that means giving me free stuff, like Milk and Kindle for Amazon, then i'm all for it.

In this case I was conned, but more often than not it is the reverse. Many times I see these online book publishers selling public domain work which I have downloaded freely from Project Gutenberg. So in general I am right, I just chose a bad example. I download books only from Project Gutenberg but in an attempt to demonstrate my point here I just made a quick Internet search on the one title.
My recommendation is still to download a free e-book reader and to freely down free public domain books.
Frank
You have your point man, and we respect it. Actually I never spent $ on e-books, reading should be free.

Reading is free. It's the books that sometimes cost money.
Not all of the books I want to read are public domain. I don't mind paying for decent books. I'm not going to spend $20 on an ebook, but I don't mind spending a few dollars. I bought Hugh Howey's 'Silo' series for like $3 and it was worth every penny. On the other hand, I went out and bought 'Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy' for $12 because all my friends swore by it, but I couldn't get past the first 50 pages. Just not my writing/reading style. Wish I could return it. lol
80% of my ebooks and audiobooks I get from the library anyway. I just finished the Dune audiobook last week, and now am reading the Dune Messiah ebook. I got both from the library via Overdrive.
I must say reading books should be free. Thanks for correcting it. I can see you're a bookworm and this freebies are for readers like you. Enjoy the freebies

I know what you were trying to say. I seek out freebies every chance I can get too. I hardly ever turn down a free book, even if it's something I don't think i'll read. I got two free Audible audiobook credits that I am trying to decide what to use on (I was originally going to go with LOTR, but I only have two credits and don't want to have to pay for the third book.) I recently got 'Heart of Darkness' and 'A Princess of Mars' cause they were free on Amazon (along with the Audible audiobook free as well).
I live by two rules. Never look a gift horse in the mouth. And never turn down a free book.
