Hello folks,
I came here to beg for help
I tried to upgrade my Galaxy S2 HD LTE using Kies to the last version of Jelly Bean (Korean model, SHV-E250L, I bought last year in Korea, so I came back to my hometown at Brazil), but it is stuck in the booting screen.
So, I have no idea to how I can reinstall the OS or maybe reset it to a safe point.
If there's a easy way to restore it, please let me know.
I really appreciate your help and comments.
Did the update process go ok, or did you get any error or disconnect cable during update?
In 99% of the cases performing a factory reset solves it. Just make sure to backup whatever you can, at this time.

You're in the wrong forum.
The SHV-E250L is the Galaxy Note 2 not Galaxy S2?
You're in the wrong forum, buddy. However, I suggest an Odin flash of the newest firmware. Still ain't fixed? Nandroid backup and wipe.
If the factory reset suggested above doesn't work, just download the latest custom rom for your device and flash via Odin.
You can find it here:
http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=SHV-E250L
Make sure you factory reset and wipe cache and dalvik cache before flashing the rom.
Cheers e boa sorte

Hey guys, I just came back here to say THANKS so much, because the factory reset worked and now it is working as usual.
Thanks a lot again. This topic can be closed now

No kidding, but the characteristic for the phone that possible have a boot loop are always have FORCE CLOSE app and doing RESTART itself

Sorry, I can't help, but in my flashing thread, it has also been reported. But I think it happens more often on phones with asian firmwares. I had one report in the german forum too, but I am not sure if it was an "asian" version.
I think if something happens while the firmware update with an asian firmware, it might end up in a bootloop. I am not sure, but I think it makes also the partitioning of the storage, isn't ?
It would be good if we could get a "gettogether" in this thread and have all the reports of the soft-/hardbricked SGWs. So we can analyse and maybe find out the reason or atleast narrow down the issue.
I would like to know:
1. Did you have a custom rom before the flash ?
2. Was your phone rooted ?
3. Did you make the internal/external swap ?
4. Did ODIN say PASS before you disconnected(before the bootloop happend) ?
5. Any other fancy modifications you have done and what we should know ;-D ?

My team already try for asian rom that you provide in your tread and the new version of stock rom. it didn't do full wipe just normal flash like the others
Only stock rom & rooted bro...
PASS but the phone not turn on -_-"
No swap partitions
Just regular phone for daily use
If we can found the stock rom with wipe and bootloader still can be fixed
Hopefully it can be fixed without go to samsung -_-
All of us must aware for this issue bro..

I have edited my thread, it makes people now more alert about the risk of bricking.
Maybe it is more secure always wiping everything using ClockWorkMod:
Using this course of action:
1. Backup everything manually what you can!
2. Flash via ODIN ClockWorkMod Recovery on your device(english). Scroll down to other and select ClockWorkMod.
3. Once ClockWorkMod is flashed, go to the recovery:
a) backup and restore -> backup to external sdcard
b) backup and restore -> restore from external sdcard
This is to make sure the files aren't corrupted, if this is successful you can be sure everything is backupped. If you get a MD5 mismatch something went wrong. Try again!
c) wipe data/factory reset -> confirm
d) wipe cache partition -> confirm
e) mounts and storage -> format system -> confirm
f) mounts and storage -> format cache -> confirm
g) mounts and storage -> format data -> confirm
4. You restart your phone in Download Mode and flash a firmware using this instruction, which is provided in the thread under Firmwares.
5. Now you will have to flash again the ClockWorkMod recovery to restore your data.
Than open ClockWorkMod Recovery and:
backup and restore-> advanced restore from external sdcard -> select the backup -> Restore data -> confirm.
Now if you want the stock recovery back(needed for OTA updates) instood of ClockWorkMod, than go to the Others or Sonstiges and select the stock recovery, and flash it on your device.
6. Now you should have a fresh device like you have never flashed before!!!
Oh yeah, the reason why you have to make these complicated steps: Because you were flashing all different kinds of firmwares, you system will be a mess. To make sure your device is not a overwritten old firmware these steps are necessary.
Flashing via ODIN does not delete all old data !!!
I have to say also: I have flashed all the ROM's successfully before posting them in my thread about flashing.

Yes he already inform this...
But the question why just only him that get boot lop, this is kind a strange because another user didn't face the problem like this
His problem happened after applying V6 SC
I know that V6 SC update 9 RC6 have a change for boot lop, because for applying 100% must integrated built.prop
So many friend of my use V6 SC update 9 RC4 that more stable for our phone
Actually there is nothing different if we flash with nandroid and update.zip
The script doing same thing except for the user data
nandroid use md5 for more safety flashing
Like i wrote before..
Before this happen the phone always do restart it self
I hope there is any progress for prevent and fix this issue
The user that have this problem, now must go to Samsung to fix it before we know how to fix it
Regards
I'd like to say this sudden restart happen to me quite often while in stock rom, but after I flash custom rom this phenomenon never happen again. This phenomena only happen while I'm on stock rom.

Update for this..
My friend reported..
For my country, we get FULL WARRANTY for this case
and waiting this status until fixed about 2 days
For the first phase they do regular Flashing with STOCK ROM based on country
then it still cannot on (we know already -_-)
We didn't sure yet is the phone will be change with the new one or not because this had implication from hardware issue..
Come back latter..

Very good result Rio!!!!
Is there a thread outlining what the symptoms of this particular Boot loop problem are.....
Maybe this post in this thread.....from THE-E....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=22744322
it should be stickied!!!!!
How to do that here, who request to???
Not enough stuff getting stickied here, peeps have to trawl thro' full forum to find answers to sometimes repeated questions??
But important stuff certainly should be "stickied".
Anyone else agree....and how to get a result on this???

A little late in reading this post but I also bought my Galaxy W from Ebay. Samsung user agreement states that the phone is guaranteed for 2 years after the date of sale and the agreement is transferable between owners. In other words it doesn't matter who originally bought it but is guaranteed for 2 years and our phone is still less than 2 years old. I know this as had to send mine back and they accepted it.
i think im out of luck here and this is the first time this has happened to me. i recently rooted my note 2 using the toolkit that was in the thread for all variants. i used the mack rom with the perseus kernel. then i recently read that they recommend updating the kernel. i downloaded the kernel and for got about clearing the cache and dalvic cache before flashing. i rebooted and now stuck in bootloop with no backup. i just want to get it to work again but i got a bad feeling that there is nothing i can do about this since i can get anything to my internal memory. twrp is my recovery and they dont mount the sd card yet. any suggestions?

I might suggest holding vol-down/home/power together while b-looping, see if you could get into DL mode, flash something in odin to get back to stock at least, start over. or try to see if that will work with recovery, reflash the kern. but you may be SOL on your current data.
and there's always batt pulling before trying to get to recovery/DL mode, but i try to avoid it when possible. but sometimes that's all ya get.
thank you

welcome to the community! and good job posting the info that someone would need to be able to help, it's important to give the details on how one arrives at the problem so someone can troubleshoot.
Upgraded to the Jelly Bean 4.1.2 and now every time I turn on the WIFI it ask me for the password. After entering the password the phone shuts off, restarts, and the WIFI is on and works.
Why after upgrading does the phone shut off when starting the WIFI and what is the fix for it?
Phone is a Samsung Galaxy S2.
I thought the upgrade would be better.
Thank you in advance

Being that you're on 4.1.2 and you didn't say otherwise, I'm assuming you're stock... unrooted..
Now this is just guess work on my part.. but I would try to wipe cache in you're stock recovery and reboot...
Outside of that... I would suggest doing the upgrade again.. as something might not have stuck during the installation...
If any of this doesn't seem to work... I would just backup my data and Odin the stock gb27 full restore one-click...found in rwilco's repo... that way you know you're partitions are correct for JB and you will still be stock... remember... the full restore will wipe you're data... so back it up..
There is a rooted and an unrooted version...

That is true. The reason I updated to Jelly Bean was because I want to Root and figured it would be wise to have the latest operating system.

OK I will look that up on how to do it - unless you have a link that explains it or care to tell me. And believe me I appreciate your help a lot!

IMO, if a picture is worth a 1,000 words, a video is worth 1,000,000.
The first time I rooted my phone I watched a bunch of videos on youtube. Search QBKing77 on youtube and he has a ton of videos on the rooting, DL mode, etc. There is probably one on GB27 One Click Exe stock rooted.
There are stickies in our forum that will link you to rwilco's depository of everything you need to get the job done, but watch it a few times first. I would link, but he has asked us not to which is good because indirectly, it will make you search and find the right files to use.
@SkidMarx
No worries...
If you can't find the gb27 one-click or you want a little guidance on how to use odin( QBKing's video is great )...don't be afraid to ask.. ( but please post in the noob friendly Q & A section.. myself and others far smarter than me.. lol. Check that thread all the time...
As for rooting... once you have the one-click installed ( rooted or unrooted version ) if you run into any problems with root access. There is an app called framaroot that will root this device.. it uses an exploit and is very simple and quick..
Also... if you want to try to wipe cache first before using Odin... turn you're phone off... let it power down complete.. now hold the power button and the volume up button ( simultaneously ) until the Samsung screen pops up for the second time.. then release and that should boot you to stock recovery...
Now it's been awhile since I was on any stock recovery.. but there should be an option to wipe cache ( only wipe cache )..after the wipe.. reboot the device.. ( I have little faith that this will fix you're problem, but it's easy to do before we go flashing anything else )
Like I said above... if you want a little guidance don't be afraid to ask... but as said in the above post.. if you search and read first.. it will be easier for you in the long haul. .as well as easier for us to help you..
Good Luck.... and Welcome to XDA... Epic 4g Touch forum..

Hi All,
I have T-Mobile version of S20, which was unlocked long time ago. I recently switched to Verizon and the phone working perfectly fine. This morning I received security update for May 2021 from T-mobile and after that phone is not able to connect to network. Verizon technician tried troubleshooting, but they asked me to do a factory reset.
Does anyone know how to connect back to network with factory reset?
Thanks in advance.
Wow, it's really secure now
So the old factory reset solves everything bs solution... I tend to curse techs out if they mutter those words.
Before you go Dr Strangelove full nuke nuts:
Try clearing the system cache
Try a network reset
Try clearing the data in the sim card toolkit
Then try a hard reboot (simulates pulling battery).

That sucks. I haven't updated my Note 10+ in over a year, deliberately. Zero issues.
The reflash sounds like a plan.
Since you're doing that anyway see what the factory reset does. Unless it's an old load I try to avoid doing that and find the root cause to prevent it from happening again.
In this case though you know the root cause...

Did the factory reset, but it didn't work. Trying to get correct firmware to flash using odin.
I flashed Verizon version of firmware downloaded from Sammobile.com using Moded Odin provided in this thread that fixed the phone. https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...e-links-and-flashing-discussion-here.4054757/
Data was lost because of factory reset I did already.
Report the issue to Samsung Members app, I've seen other people who switched carriers while keeping their devices face the same sort of problem. If Samsung does come up with some sort of solution or maybe the carrier comes up with a solution, you can be kept up to date with it.

Any direct link to the Verizon firmware or the name of the file that you downloaded? There are many files for different processors. I have the T-mobile S20 bought in T-mobile and was unlocked via T-mobile after I payed for it.
UGGG!! Same problem here. T-mobile seems to have had something in the update that has carrier locked the phone again. After a complete data reset the phone doest ask for a Verizon pin when I insert the sim card though.
Please help!!
