[PRO] anyone using class 10 micro SD card in Xperia PRO? - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is anyone using a class 10 micro SD card on Xperia PRO?..
I'm interested in knowing if there's any significant improvement in performance and user experience... specially for installing apps in a second partition of the SD card (I use link2sd, but any other alternative should be a good reference)...
Also, please state what ROM you are using and what's your experience.
Thanks in advance!.

I have MicroSD card from SanDisk, model UHS-1 (Greater than Class 10) 16GB and i have on it Ext2 or Ext3 partition. This is a great experience. It runs great. Very fast and stable.

I can, but i changed Xperia Pro mk16i for Galaxy S GT-i9000, so this test may be misleading.

[Q] recommendations for new SD card.

been looking about for a new 16 or 32 gig card for the desire...

might have found a good bargain but wanted to get some feedback incase there are better sources for a quality sd card at the right price.

It makes no difference in my experience. I had a Transcend 8gb class 6 which I replaced with a Sandisk 16gb class 2, and during operation (using Legacy A2SD), I didn't notice any difference due to the class whatsoever.
I bought another 16gb card (Sandisk Class 2 again) to use in my backup phone, this time using Froyo A2SD, and again it works flawlessly.

What MicroSD Classes Work with the Desire...?

My question was concerning my 16gb Class 6 card (which actually appeared to be corrupt/broke'd anyway)
I asked about compatibly with the Desire...

Thank you for contacting us.
In regards to SD Cards
I can help you with that.
The card that you are trying to use is not compatible with the phone as the class is too high speed for the device to be able to keep up with the speed. I have included a link to a webpage with the sd cards that are compatible with that device.
http://www.expansys.com/a.aspx?i=196001
If you look under the accessory tab then down the bottom is compatible memory.
I trust that this resolves your query, please do not hesitate to contact us again if required.

I'm sure I read some threads about class 10's working fine in the Desire?
The link seems to suggest only a class 2 or a class 4 will work...
I'm using a class 4 without problems so far.
On a dutch board I read a guy was using a class 6 on Starbust so it should be possible I think.
I've just bought a 16gb class 4 Sandisk and the speed tests show it as being quite a bit faster than my class 4 (non Sandisk) 8gb card!
I'm using class 4, working fine
I'm using a 8GB class 6 card with Custom ROM and A2SD with no problem. Been over 6 months now.
A lot of class 10 cards have issues, class 6 seems to be the most reliable thus far. Some people have had good experiences with A-DATA 16gb class 10.
So from user experience - a good Class 6/10 card should work just fine?

For C6 yes.
For C10 Mostly yes... but usually class 10 is not really faster... so save the money.
Just my two cents.
I'm using Transcend 8GB class 6 without any problem. Try to format by gparted or similiar. Are you using it for any other purpose than storing photos, music or etc? For example for data2sd or apps2sd?
I just bought a transcend 16gb class 6, working perfectly so far with no problems.

I bought a 16gb class 6 to use with data2sd but struggled as the card was broken - so i've sent it back and just have the 8gb class 2 that i got with my phone now - and on stock rom again, so it is just photos and music and froyo app2sd at the moment
basically all branded cards will work fine, the thing you shoud be concerned more onthe capacity you are gonna use. It aint worth buying a 16GB sd when u cant fill even half of it with useful stuff
If speed is your thing then get a class 4 or 6 but I had SD mounted as read only with a class 4 8 gig Kingston SD, so I swooped with a buddy of mine for a class 2 SD from a Nokia n95, no problems since then.

[Q] wich class of sd card is best actually for xperia?

Hi, i am in doubt which sdcard buy, Class 6 or 10. Using as a swap partition and sd-ext for apps? I researched and saw that sdcard class 10 are slow in write random ... This Transcend 16GB Ultimate Class 10 is good? someone uses? Thanks.
If you are creating partiiton and linking apps better to go with higger class.
My experience :
I bought Sandisk Ultra 16GB Class 10.
I got average write speed not less than 9 MB/s.
I have created partition and linked apps using link2sd. Working fine simply awesome. No lags while opening apps or FCs.
If you afford higher class. Go with it. Happy reading. All the best. :victory:
P.S: I don't know about other sd cards. This is truely my experience with sandisk.
Hit "Thanks" if anyone helped you.:good:

Any benefit using Fastest External Memori Card

Hi, I'm considering buying much faster External Memory card for my Galaxy Wonder.. ( UHS-1 class 10 / extreme / super fast /etc )
but are they any noticeable increase in speed ( read music, photo, video, etc ) if I use that..??
are my Galaxy W even had capability to read such as speed that UHS-1 can offer..?? or it just a wast of money..??

I´m actually using a noname UHS-1 class 10 SDCard. It´s slightly faster than my Samsung class 10 SDCard, but this isn´t because of UHS-1 as this device doesn´t support it. It´s for sure a bit faster because it´s using faster NAND chips that are required for UHS-1.
So all in all it´s not recommended to replace an existing class 10 against a UHS-1 Card, but if you are planning to buy a new one and it costs the same, you can get a UHS-1 card as well.

Thank you for the info., :good:
so I assume it would be wast of money to buy A faster, even most faster SD Card, since this device doesn't support it..
May I know, what apps that you use to measure / benchmark the read write speed of SD Card..??
I'm using SD Tools and A1 SD Bench,, but I don't think that accurate

I benched them with Antutu Benchmark and there the noname was slightly faster. Just you will not notice this small difference in daily use.
So if you are already using a class 10 SDCard then it will be a waste of money, but for someone who is using a class 4 or class 6 it´s a good replacement.

From the 16GB to 32GB is there a speed increase/decrease?
Hmm, I'm using Antutu ver.4, but cannot see any benchmark for SD Card..
Yup, I already using class 10, so I guess I don't need to buy a faster one.

bro most memory card is sdhc....its just SD high Capacity...if u have more than 4 gb...all are sdhc i think..
And i really dont know why people are using class 10 cards for phones, i think its for dslr and video cameras which require fast writing speed. IMO class 6 is enough for phones. (P.S : Correct me if i am wrong.)

Almost all smartphones these days support upto 32 GB. SDHC means Secure Digital High Capacity, and @ansebovi you are right all memory cards with a memory of 4GB-32GB are SDHC. And our phone will support all SDHC cards. What our phone doesnt support is SDXC cards, its SD Xtended Capacity, used for 64GB+ cards.
@SK:) Its upto you to use the memory card of your choice. If you can afford Class 10 SD cards then its fine, I use a Class 4 SD as its enough for my use. But if you plan on swapping(which in this phone's case,is not really needed) then higher the class the better it gets.....

because i use memory card for swapping, saving app in sd than internal sd....internal sd speed is high...
so to compensate than speed we may need class 10,,..since i m using more than 100apps which are stored in sd..if i use class 6...my phone will lag...since it cant read from sd with high speed.....
price of 32gb class 10 is 1500rs
price of 32gb class 6 is 1350rs
with just 150rs u can get 2xspeed...
now understand?

Yeah KINGSTON would be fine but SanDisk would be better because I am using it and it got nice write\read speeds, excellent for swapping, no lags. But still it's my personal opinion, so go with the one u like

Yes it will after swapping your external memory becomes internal and vice-versa and then you will be able to install games directly to your swapped internal memory without using folder mount or gl2sd.

yes dude,
I have been using Kingston 64 GB UHS1 Class10 SDXC card
& I already successfully swaped my SD (JB 4.3)
I have both Sandisk & Kingston. both are class10 UHS1 64GB
Sandisk's performance (PC copying speed) is far better than Kingston.

Yes dude. 64GB will work almost all devices. (maybe 128, 256...etc)
Even very-lower end phones and basic phones.
But couldn't get its full potential.
I mean we have to use it under FAT32 file system.
I am using windows on my PC, so I don't know about Linux & ext partitions.
If your handset doesn't shows an option to format it, you could use third party partition tools on your PC or even your handset itself.
