First off all, yes you are at the good place to ask questions:good:
Second, what is your phone model/provider? (Me i have an SGH-i317M with Telus)
Do you still want root?
If no, you can use kies to upgrade to 4.1.2. I did that, but I have loose root and my custom recovery.
So I have installed a new "stock" rom from this thread witch is already rooted : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2004650
After I installed Goomanager and I have flashed Twrp recovery.
And now I use this rom from miscom : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2016575
The stock rom was not enough for me because you can't use all app in multiwindow.
Hope that helped you

Make a backup
Using Odin, install the latest TWRP Recovery
Reboot to Recovery
Make another backup (Once this is done, you can delete the one you just made, if you want to)
Flash 4.3 Rom
Flash 4.3 Gapps
Reboot
Enjoy
Or you can just flash twrp from the development thread.
yeah meekrawb made a flashable twrp 2.6.1.0 go search for it
Cool thanks you guys for the responses but I think I might go with Odin just to be sure nothing goes wrong!!
ODIN flashing increases your flash count. Avoid if at all possible.

[Q] softbricked

guys softbricked my note 2 with mobile odin,am able to access twrp but can't go any further on the booting,
I need a .tar kernel for it preferably compatible with 4.1.2 and gonna put in cleanrom and gonna stop messing around with it.Please help me with the kernel, can't find one for i317 that can be flashed from odin.can't transfer anything in or out of the phone so basically stumped as to what to do.Any and all suggestions will be most helpful.I didn't do a nandroid backup coz I didn't expect this from just flashing plasmakernel but then it did screw me over, please help

Why just the kernel? just flash the whole stock image and that comes with kernel through odin and you will be good to flash the Rom of your choice through the typical Custom Recovery Zips after you get everything stable again.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1987541
Go to the firmwares and pick the stock one, thats should be enough to get you back up and going again.
alright man gonna take the firmware from there and odin it,if it lets me in just hit root twrp cleanrom and saberkernel and not touch it till a cleanrom like rom comes for 4.3
Thanks for the help,Hope this works out good
solved
Gracias my friend all done!! woot woot,Finally got my phone running again, thanks thanks thanks

[Q] Please help restore old bootloadet

I have a T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S4 on stock 4.3 MK2 and I was wondering if there is a way to restore the MDL bootloader so I can flash ROM's and get my warranty back if I need to. Thanks for the help

That cannot be done. Once you have upgraded to 4.3 MK2 you cannot downgrade.
But there are plenty of excellent custom roms which are 4.3 MK2 that you can flash.
NOTE: if you have flashed the official Tmobile MK2 4.3 Odin flash firmware/rom OR if you
have allowed the OTA update and or if you upgrading using KIES and your phone is not yet
rooted and does not have any custom recovery or custom rom in it then you don't need to worry
about your warranty, it will stay GOOD as long as you do not ROOT the phone and as long as
you do not flash any custom recoveries or kernels.
Good luck!

Aw well I guess I'll just take my chances because I used to flash ROM'S all the time but recently I made the mistake of trying out stock 4.3 and it's actually pretty nice it's just I miss flashing lol. I'm not even sure if I actually have a valid warranty anyways haha but thanks

Hi there Mr. Junky,
You forgot the most important word, in red above. Our Developers are like I was when I was in my younger days of programming, If was said something couldn't be done, I worked till I made it happen and Rooting is a good example of how our XDA "Gurus" have made things happen, and I am confident they will again rise above the rest and do the "Cannot be done" and share it with this community.....
Aloha, and Have a great day! p.s. Thank you for all your useful and clear posts that a LOT of users have benefited from!
I was doing some reading last night through the R&D thread and other various threads linked to through that one... I do believe that someone has been able to revert back to 4.2.2; but it involves some pretty risky methods and equipment which nobody in this thread likely has.

You are absolutely right, I did forget the magic work "YET".
But I think this time by the time the devs finally find a way to fully over-come the knox issue
in our S4's we all will have a much newer model, perhaps a Samsung Galaxy S5 or S6 or? LOL

[Q] I Hate 4.4

Hello Everyone,
im new here but ive been on this forum before for help searching similar problems.
now the problem i have today is driving me crazy since 4pm, i tried everything and no hope.
i have Galaxy note 3 tmobile it was rooted working great but i wanted more out of my rom so i decided to go with jedi elite, but it was recommended to flash it with TWRP so i thought i could flash it over CWM. but it didnt work and i couldnt reboot in recovery anymore. no problem backed up my apps and unrooted the phone back to normal with 4.3, then i found out that 4.4 is out so i went ahead and downloaded it thinking i can root with 4.4 kitkat. well after i updated the phone i rooted and tried to use TWRP but it wouldnt work and the phone didnt wanna boot in recovery i tried CWM and no luck either.
now the phone for some reason is not rooted, it wont load in recovery mode and i tried to downgrade back to 4.3 with odin but it keeps failing.
heres what i need help with. Downgrade back to 4.3, be able to root and boot in recovery mode with TWRP...
help pleaseeee.
If you flashed the full 4.4 update your not going to be able to go back but you can have your root and recovery. Just no 4.3 roms, sorry. Easiest thing for me to tell you is there are some good tuts, if you can follow directions you can get straightened out. I was feeling generous and searched for you.
Good tut here for getting going on 4.4:

If you want twrp instead of phill's touch, the latest version is compatible:

Once you went up u here. No looking back. I disagree with you cause kit Kat is great. It has speed and great battery life. No more WiFi headaches. U need to search the threads for the how to root video and follow it. The last 10 or so people who hated kit Kat was all them doing wrong. Can't blame something when u doing it wrong. What recovery you got what root method. Where did you get Odin file from. Did md5 check out. I tell you that you my friend did something wrong. Read the threads not just the op. A few guys posted a step by step and it worked for 98% of the people. The other 2 did it wrong

It worked but the rom maxes at 2.4 kitkat and jedi are 2.7mhz. is there any method to root tmobile 4.4 at least with 4.4??

gs3 and nd8

I'll start from the begining,I had my fone rooted with the peoples on it. Very happy i mite add. Anyway long story short.I had to take the nd8 update,I was 2 behind. I never thought it would turn out to be a nitemare. I was never able to get a recovery that would see the sd card. I had it rooted a time or two. but had to do a full restore in odin, the 7z odin. Anyway i have philz latest and cwm latest for my pone. I can get to philzs and i can see the zips on the sd. when I use root checker it says i'm not rooted. Since i not going to be able to use the peoples i want to go with another rom. Right now i have the stock rooted on the sd and can see it. Not sure what i need to do from here. can i flash the stock rooted or do i need to do something else so root checker verifys root.
i know it looks like Im a newbe. I have rooted several pones back to the hero. Take it easy on me i had a tough couple of daze with this pone.
TIA

so you have PhilZ latest one right? and ND8 is very simple to root just use TowelRoot or the option in PhilZ settings and you'll be rooted....and if you don't like Philz just use CWM or TWRP and flash the latest SuperSU beta zip.....and you will have a Odexed Stock Rooted rom if you would like De-odexed their is a zip to make it De-odexed + De-Knoxed (Knox apps only) or you can flash the pre-rooted stock ND8 zip....
yes i have philz. read a lot of good things about it and i like all the options.. so this one ( CWM-Superuser-3.1.3.zip ) is not the one i need to use. i flashed it right after i was able to get into philz.. my problem was it wasnt seeing my sd with twrp or cwm. kinda like there was something corrupt.. ill prolly stay with philz.. just so im clear i can flash the pre rooted nd8 with no problems and be fully rooted.. and verifed in check root... eventually i want to go with wicked, carbon, tribute or some other custom rom.. just making sure i dont have other problems that i need to address..

yes you should have no problems just make sure the MD5 matches.....it's good practice....it prevents you from flashing a bad download.... i forgot make sure you make a back up in PhilZ just in case things go bad
thanx bro.
im a big reader, like they say read till ur eyes bleed.. there just so much to read some a couple of years old.. kinda hard to filter through it all if u dont do this on a regular basis..
