[Q] (FXP) Constant freezes and restarts - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everybody. It's my first time posting on xda so forgive me maybe.
I'm currently using a LT5i on FXP CM10 ROM. I was using the FXP 201 till the previous day and I saw FXP 205 released. Decided to flash the FXP 205, I expected another good stuff for my phone and here came the trouble: It constantly freezes and restarts for no reason even though I did exactly in the instruction. This error is something I am not familiar with and Googling stuffs didn't help either.
If anyone knows how to fix this please help. Also, I'm a totally noob so please don't give me hard time understanding dev stuffs
Thanks.

Which kernel are you on?
sent via XPERIA™ Arc

FXP kernel of course. They included the kernel in the ROM zip

Wipe everything and reinstall ROM again
sent via XPERIA™ Arc

Thanks but I tried it already. I'm thinking of flashing Fusion kernel

[Q] Overclock kernel

Hey folks,
I've been looking to overclock my Xperia Arc (runnin ICS 4.0.4, build: 4.1.B.0.587) and I'm quite the noob at this so I'm looking for answers and advice. From what I gather, I need to install a kernel and I hear there are many options. One of the most popular one seem to be DooMKernel. I'm thinking about using that and I found this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1520654
Now, my question is, is that the most updated thread? Is there a newer updated DooMKernel lying around (that is newer than v5)? It's fairly difficult to navigate the forums and so I have a hard time finding all the right posts.
My next question is, if I were to install CyanogenMod, does it install a new kernel that allows me to overclock or is OS separate from the kernel?
And also, feel free to recommend me any other kernels. Are they all pretty much the same or do some of them have particular enhancements?
Thanks in advance!

1. The Doomkernel you linked have problem with some battery drainage, thanks to not using newest kernel sources (if I remember correctly?) and also that Doomlord haven't updated it at a long time so. Look for some other kernels before that one becomes stable enough!
2. The Cyanogenmod ROM requires it own specially developed kernel which can be found in the zip package of each initial release (CM7 - CM9 - CM10) and it have to be flashed through Fastboot before you are flashing the ROM in recovery. Follow instructions on Cyanogenmod homepage for each installation on your prefered device for more info!
3. If you're on Gingerbread, use Doomlord v22, for some amazing performance / battery and a lot of functions (underclocking, undervolting and some other stuff).
If you're on ICS, use latest Lupus kernel (version 8) - that kernel is a beast in every way and you'll definitely like it, it's stable enough to satisfy even you!
It's some difference between the kernels in speed, stability and performance / smoothness / battery life / functions, yes. You have to check them out yourself to find your own favourite.
Hope my answers helped you!

Yup, CM kernels was created with overclocking and extended performance in mind, hence why Cyanogenmod ROMs are known with expanding the possibilities to some crazy ass performance and level boost (I have only tried CM7 and using it was like driving an Ferrari at 220 km/hour, later versions should be equal in their own specific ways).
Hope you got some useful answer on your question, dude!

I can recommend Sega Rush v3 kernel to use with your currrent or any .587 based custom rom, it can if you so wished be used up to 2ghz,( as could Doomlords V5 ), but be warned and advised to tread carefull with overclocking as you can cause permanent heat damage to, and even kill your phone if you overcook it.
I think the links to Doomlords v5 are down at the moment he is not active with it, so you may struggle to find doomkernel v5 to download, however if you look to the credits in the latest release of Sega v3, you will see him mentioned, take that as a good omen.
PS there are plenty of kernels to choose from, but I would say try to use one that is currently under active development, so that any upgrades / improvements are kept constant.
I can't comment on Cyanogenmods never tried any, but they seem popular enough, and look pretty well supported. You really are spoilt for choice, have fun

[Q] cm10 fxp problem on arc S

hello guys, I recently installed the fxp CM10 and I feel really good. But lately the phone tends to crash and reboot. I use the kernel Fusion 4.1 on an Xperia arc S, how do I fix these crashes?

CM10 is not fully stable and does not suit for everyday usage. You can't fix them, unless you know how to debug, find the bugs and have the ability to edit the code by yourself.
I am using cm 10 fxp 150 on my arc s with fusion 4.1 kernel! It's absolutely smooth and stable and i have not had any issues so far! It has almost no bugs and can be used as a daily rom! Only hdmi is not working. What are the cpu governor and io scheduler you're using? Are you overclocking your device?

Did a "total" clean installation with Fusion 4.1 and FXP 151 on my Arc, wiped everything. Didn't restore ANY backups but it still has random reboots under "heavy" usage, i.e browsing or similar.
Tried different governors but no change. I even under-clocked the phone but the problems were still there.
So today I gave up and reverted back to the FXP kernel.
It's a shame! Fusion was so fast and smooth

Underclocking can cause problems, if you do it more than you should.
Might be Fusion 4.1. I am on AOKP CM10 and I have had random reboots since going to Fusion 4.1. Many others have too.
If you can, go back to the kernal that came with the ROM and keep a look out for an update to Fusion. I tried to go back to the kernal that came with AOKP m1 R1 but it does not boot.... maybe you will have better luck.

[Q] CM 10 (fxp 152) and Data Connection

Hi Guys, as most people who post for the 1st time, I'm posting with a question
Also, I was planning on posting this on the Android Development forum (with the thread dedicated to CM10) but it requires at least 10 posts
Anywho, onto the thread title;
I have an Xperia S (LT26i) which i just recently unlocked, rooted and installed CM10 into, and I have been using it happily for a full week mostly stable (Any.Do and Instagram has graphical glitches but no biggie for me.), the only concern I have is that Mobile Data doesnt seem to work, even if users have reported it to be working.
I am thinking this *might* have something to do with the kernel (i havent touched that yet), did a little research and it seems to be a lot more complicated that just flashing a rom.
What do you guys think? Is it just a quirk with the current version of CM10, or do I have to use another kernel (which i have no idea how to do, or where to start.)
Thanks in advance
I had the same problem and reflashing the Rom and wiping data, cache and dalvik cache again seemed to solve it. Maybe you can try that.
Sent from my LT26i using xda app-developers app
I read the instructions carefully and I was 100% sure that I did that, as a matter of fact I have tried reflashing at least 2 times earlier today wiping everything before and after flashing.. but still no go
What about flashing a newer build? Fxp 203 is available .
Sent from my LT26i using xda app-developers app
The latest release has got this bug fixed
Sent from my elegant Xperia™ Ion
Sorry for being a total n00b, but I was actually kind of iffy on the idea of moving to fxp 20x, i was under the impression that it was just a newer version of JB that might have more bugs than fixes compared to fpx 15x. So in simple terms its actually all around better?
* also, one more question. when upgrading from fxp 152 -> fxp 203, do i need to wipe everything and then reflash? or is there a more straightforward way of upgrading?

Finally some one who uses the Q&A.yes it should support AOKP/CM themes.
I'm thinking test your ROM, but whats is the kernel included in the zip file?
Lupus v11? 3.X Kernel?
The main post said dont work JB Camera (4.2.2). There is other camera app included in ROM (CM camera 4.1.2 perhaps) or we must install other third party camera app.
setup wizard pac-man
Hey I flashed the inkludet kernel and did a full wipe and installed the ROM. The Rom boots but then the Setup Wizard does not respond and I cant set upp my phone. A tested this tvice and then re downloadet the rom but got the same results. Is it only me or are others having the same problem Im comming from a nother JB 4.2.2. rom if that helps. I realy want to try this rom and a realy like your work, been using lupus kernel for a long time now. Thanks

Others seem to be having no problems. Perhaps its something to do with gapps. I'm assuming you used full gapps. Try the mini or light version of gapps. So long as u done your full wipes I can't see any other reason. Maybe try flash ROM let it boot then go back to recovery and flash gapps.
Edit - OK so apparently light gapps just causes FC'ing I'll link to other gapps when I'm home.
i flashed this ROM with full Gapps in Xperia Arc S, and it's working really fine, until now had twice random reboots, but that's not really a problem to me.
other than that the ROM is awesome. :good:
Q: is it okay if i use Lupus JBv11 Kernel? (qurrently using kernel included in ROM)
thanks in advance

See I'm pretty sure its the kernel giving random reboots. But with LuPuS or Fusion kernel, WiFi and Bluetooth will not work on 4.2.
Hey, one question:
Why the Wifi doesn't work on LuPuS or FusioN Kernel? :/
I#m using Paranoidmod now, because od that...

All 4.2 ROMs changed firmware binaries and changed wifiload script. But... suppose I could try get get kernel to install and use old firmware binaries and run lupus wifiload script?? We will see!! maybe I'll push back kernel update until I give it a go and get someone to test.

Hi,
May I also post on the Pro version here? There is no seperate thread for it.
It's my first attempt on a custom rom after using stock ICS. Unfortunately, I found it to be very unstable
My first attempt was Lupus/v21, now I'm on Fusion/v22. Both seem to be highly unstable. Just using apps is normally fine, but a few things seem to provoke lockups including unlocking the screen, listening to music and using the camera.
I did a full wipe before installing (system, cache, dalvik cache, data), I even tried the permissions fix.
Otherwise it seems a great rom, perfect feature set and very fast, but the unstability makes it unusable for me

Yes u can post here also. Comparing any 4.2 ROM to STOCK ICS, stock ICS would be the winner in terms of stability. 4.1 is the best if you want JB IMO. But 4.2 and especially PAC 4.2 has a lot more features, customization amongst other things. It doesn't matter on the kernel its going to be the same. This is why FXP stopped developing after CM10 for the XPERIA 2011 line-up. It will never be 100% stable as will any 4.2 ROM for Xperia 2011.
I don't know what calls you stabillity, but 4.1 is very stable, almost as 4.0. 4.2 isn't stable specially with 3.x kernels, but 4.1 is perfect. And FXP stop the development for 2011 line becase they have to develop for a lot of devices, i think.

I said 4.1 is stable. And no they stopped because without a stable 3.x kernel it would be impossible for a stable 4.2 J. There was no 3.x kernel for 2011 device back then, but even still they knew if there was a 3.x kernel it would need a lot of work to get stable, if it even can.

[Q] Newest ROM/ best option

Hi!
I flashed CM9 in 2012 to my One V, but over time it started to disfunction and my phone is pretty slow by now.
I went here since I suspected CM10 might be available but it looks like the support for that ROM has already been cancelled.
I flashed my stock to Miui, then to CM9, so I'm not really experienced and I can't find out what the best next step is. What do you advise?
All tips are welcome
Thanks!
