[Q] Newest ROM/ best option - HTC One V

Hi!
I flashed CM9 in 2012 to my One V, but over time it started to disfunction and my phone is pretty slow by now.
I went here since I suspected CM10 might be available but it looks like the support for that ROM has already been cancelled.
I flashed my stock to Miui, then to CM9, so I'm not really experienced and I can't find out what the best next step is. What do you advise?
All tips are welcome
Thanks!

[Q] CM7- fail.

So, I have successfully rooted my phone and gained superuser rights. This was my first time rooting a phone. So, I get the cm7 rom from cm's website I. I put it on my sd card, and I go to flash it and it gives me some sort of error... Something about verification? If anyone could help out that would be splendid.
I have a galaxy s2 t989.
Our phone isn't on cyanogen mods website so u probably got the build for the wrong phone. Ur lucky it didn't install otherwise u would have a brick right now. Get the cyanogen build from the development section of this forum

Hmm...
Thanks for the info... glad I didnt brick my phone!
I found this Rom Cyanogenmod 7 Self-Kang For Tmo-Sgs2 Alphafied #2 2.3.7 Updated.. and the links were broken. Tried rootzwiki... broken as well.
Do you have any suggestions on a good build? I was looking for something with just gingerbread like the cm7 build...?

I would like good links to those too.
However, try this...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1416445
It's a great Rom to hold you over for an official CM. Without trying Slayher's actual versions but reading comments I believe it might even be more stable than where he left off.

You are probably like me....
I came from the G2 and all I knew was CM7 (most roms based off cm7 in that section at that time). Once I got the Galaxy S II, I was sad that there was no completely finished and supported cm7 builds. I tried the ones mentioned and they do work for the most part but you have to turn on gps before rebooting or you lose audio in calls.
Anyways...long story short, try out some touchwizz roms. You will find that they are almost exactly like gingerbread roms from cm7. You can get a different launcher than TouchWizz (like ADW, Launcher Pro, Go, ect) and your basically there. The settings menu will look different, and some animations and tones will be a little different....(you can customize all of this stuff BTW!) but after I used it for a week I was used to it and I was over the whole Cm7 gingerbread look that I thought I had to have!
Hope this helps.
Anyways, l

Found a possible option to create a MIUI rom for i927

Hi everyone,
I just bought an i927, and I'm really looking forward to installing some custom ROMs. Above all, I'd love to see a MIUI rom for this device. MIUI is hands down my favorite Android flavor. What do you think about these instructions for creating a "MIUI PatchROM"?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1483332It looks to me like it should be possible to MIUI-ify an existing stable ROM for the i927 with this method. What do you think?
Thanks, cheers.
interesting if you will to do this I would recommend you use the "[07.06.12]Osimood v2.06.07" ROM as that one is based off of 2.35 and has all bloat removed. Will make for a good starting point for you. you can find it at this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1462298 good luck and I hope you get it working MIUI is a nice looking ROM

That would be interesting, but it's dated february and based on GB.
I think we should consider basing it on ICS: CM9 is coming, it should be easier (assuming CM9 works well).
Hmm, I was also wondering if those instructions would work for ICS too. I know that MIUI is currently running with the ICS base on other devices.
As for me, I doubt I have the skills to pull this off.
Is this still stands? It would be really cool to have MIUI v4 on the glide!
Someone recently mentioned wanting to give it a try in the CM10 topic, so it seems it's on!

Unfortunately I think I'm too dumb to follow those sketchy instructions that I linked to, which assume a huge amount of knowledge of the Android base system and its frameworks. But, for those who have already created ROMs for the i927 or even other devices, I suspect it would be relatively easy.
I though I'd look into trying this! I'll need some help from some willing dev' s and Linux gurus!
So far I have followed the instructions from get hub, synced the patchrom. Following the command to adb pull "stockrom.zip" from my glide is getting errors and won't make the zip.
I'm currently running the new UCLJ3 ics update that is rooted, deodexed, and zipaligned, with litekernel v1.1. I'll have to redo the adb pull to get the error, can't remember what it was. It was at the end when it was about to make the zip.
If anyone is willing to help, I'll post the exact error later tonight after work!

[Q] Recently switched over to Xylon Rom

Hi guys, I'm new on this board and I just wanted a ask a few question about this rom. Currently I'm using the Xylon 2.3.3 and I'm loving it so far, running beautifully smooth. I just got a question about the gapps, I've installed the 2013-2-15 gapps with all the photosphere stuff, however there is a newer version gapp which is 20130301, should I update to that?
Also is the kernel that it came with any good? or should I change it to AK purity like a lot of user have said to make it run a lot better.
It's safe to update, just flash over the current gapps.
As far as the kernel goes, most users report great things from the AK kernel so it's worth a shot.
For future reference, please use the corresponding Pre-existing ROM thread to ask such questions. There is no need to initialize a completely new thread.

thanks I will in the future. btw I was just checking the kernel version. It seems like the rom has already built in with the ak kernel purity.030. Correct me if I'm wrong.
If that's what your about tab says then yeah.

Avatar...but isn't JB 4.2.2 a battery hog..?
I am a flashaholic, but for once I have stuck with a single ROM for several months because it is just THAT good... and it is the 4.2 ROM in my signature. For best results, make sure you flash the following after installing it (and after you install Wind kernel): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2395797
The ROM is banned here on XDA because of IP theft/noncredit claims from a few years ago, but has evolved into a really good ROM... so that's all I'm going to say about that.

I find it good for my purpose. In screen off mode, it drops less than one percent every 3 hours. It drops not quickly on WiFi out data bit it seems no worse than Liquid Nitro.

New to Android

Hi guys, need your help. I am coming over from the iPhone. Just ordered a used S3 for my first Android phone and very excited.
It should arrive this week and I would like to have it rooted. I would like to also install the latest stable Cyanogenmod release for this phone. Is it 10.2?
I have never rooted a phone or loaded any roms. I am having trouble finding the CM rom that's the latest most stable one. I just see a bunch of different names and have no clue which one I need. Can you guys recommend something?
Can someone point me in the right direction? I would like something quick, good battery life, and good for a daily driver. I saw a youtube video that showed Cyanogenmod as most closest to stock and very stable.
I would really appreciate your help. thanks in advance
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1746665
That's a one-stop shop for S3, rooting and flashing custom recovery. Check that thread and follow the instructions there. You need to root your phone first and then flash a custom recovery like TWRP, before you can flash Custom ROM's like CM 10.2
Yes CM 10.2 is the latest version of CM with Android 4.3. CM 11 with 4.4 Kitkat is also in for S3, but dont expect it to be stable.
Also, release that there are lots of ROM's based on CM source, so they should work fine too. There are other very good custom ROM's like Carbon, Paranoid Android etc which offer unique features, while there are hybrid ROM's that combine features from all these. You need to try different ones to see what works best for you.
Also, refer to this video and others from that channel.

I suggest you take time to read, then take time to try all the roms here, as they are all good.
As we do not encourage arguments over which rom is best or is "most stable" I am going to close this thread, please take time to read what is being offered in the development areas, and welcome to android phones.
