Hi Guys, as most people who post for the 1st time, I'm posting with a question
Also, I was planning on posting this on the Android Development forum (with the thread dedicated to CM10) but it requires at least 10 posts
Anywho, onto the thread title;
I have an Xperia S (LT26i) which i just recently unlocked, rooted and installed CM10 into, and I have been using it happily for a full week mostly stable (Any.Do and Instagram has graphical glitches but no biggie for me.), the only concern I have is that Mobile Data doesnt seem to work, even if users have reported it to be working.
I am thinking this *might* have something to do with the kernel (i havent touched that yet), did a little research and it seems to be a lot more complicated that just flashing a rom.
What do you guys think? Is it just a quirk with the current version of CM10, or do I have to use another kernel (which i have no idea how to do, or where to start.)
Thanks in advance
I had the same problem and reflashing the Rom and wiping data, cache and dalvik cache again seemed to solve it. Maybe you can try that.

I read the instructions carefully and I was 100% sure that I did that, as a matter of fact I have tried reflashing at least 2 times earlier today wiping everything before and after flashing.. but still no go
What about flashing a newer build? Fxp 203 is available .

The latest release has got this bug fixed

Sorry for being a total n00b, but I was actually kind of iffy on the idea of moving to fxp 20x, i was under the impression that it was just a newer version of JB that might have more bugs than fixes compared to fpx 15x. So in simple terms its actually all around better?
* also, one more question. when upgrading from fxp 152 -> fxp 203, do i need to wipe everything and then reflash? or is there a more straightforward way of upgrading?

First let me start by saying I apologize if this post does not meet Development thread criteria.
Im new to Xperia Play but there are a lot of different options and ideas floating around for different roms and kernels all seem to be great works in progress with promising results so far.
It seems for r800x that all custom kernels break either the back camera, mms, and wifi, if not all three at the same time broke.
I tried FXP042, I tried a UK system flash with doomkernel, and I tried 2.3.3 system.img with all kernels. Which all gave me the same broken functions different brakes per different rom. . . . Now with all that being said (most was prolly already know sorry just wanted to be clear on my post)
Im using the 2.3.3 system.img that was posted in the state of development page. And Im using Doomlords V4 4.0.1.A.283 FW kernel. Its runs @ 2000MHZ just fine and has not forced a re boot or anything ( I flashed this setup yesterday)
But I got usual problems, no wifi and no rear camera. The front camera seems to work just fine and mms sends and recieves. It does not seem to matter custom rom or stock on r800x, only once you change kernel these things break.
The Perfect build :
-A system with working Timescape menus and apps/widgets ( I think the timescape features are a must on xperia play)
-Doomlords kernel (because it clocks highest compared to anything else)
Almost seems worth stopping development of different roms and if everyone just focused on Rear Camera , MMS , and Wifi issues with dooms kernel on r800x using a stock system then wouldnt we be able to build custom roms from there once problems are solved?
Im sorry for such a long post I hope this is ok, and if I have anything wrong please let me know, im trying to learn this pretty good. Thanks for reading!
I have an R800x and for now I just returned back to stock. I hate stock compared to CM7, but it's far more stable.
Im not saying run stock, I like custom roms.
But the problems are the same in stock or custom, once you change kernel something doesent work..some of which has to do with lack of kernel sources for r800x I think. Some of these custom roms work just fine if you flash back 2.3.2 stock kernel in them.
Did you flash official stock ROM first? Kernel does not include radio and if you missing correct radio it would explain why WiFi is having problems.
This thread should be in general. Just for your reference: typically you shouldn't start a thread in development unless you have something you've developed.
Furthermore. I know it sucks but this has all been covered before. There are no kernel sources for the r800x yet. Until this changes we are going to be in this same boat.

I followed the instructions and an running cm7 2.3.5 overclocked to 1.5GHz and it has been working great. I have noticed that the ringer and alarm volumes are pretty quiet but not too bad and my battery doesn't last as long but other than that the ROM has been running flawlessly for me at least.

The problem is in the kernel. Not the system. The kernel is what breaks wifi. Honestly for me that is the biggest problem. i can deal with no mms but i cant do without wifi.

I know , sadly once you change the kernel something breaks.
I agree though, mms is a not so bad lose, but no wifi just sucks.
I would say that the developers involved in this forum are probally gonna figure something out they have done some really cool stuff so far thats made the phone worth getting

On part of that thread from your first post another user named JasonKnight posted that FXP025 had working camera and wifi , but wifi would "suck the battery dry, but still worked" he says. Im gonna download that now and see how that goes.
Hi what are the main differences between androdomus ICS and virtous quattro ICS?
Which of these is better?
Yes there are differences.
Difficult to say wich one is the best, because there are not enought advanced to see.
Virtuous team add always a lot of tweaks and personalization, but there are still some graphical bugs witch are annoying...
At this day, I would advise you to go to A9 until...
Says someone on Quattro and witch LOOOOVES it . Where is the logic?
Quattro has a lot less passive update schedule as opposed to Andromadus. If you don't want to flash new versions all the time I'd suggest you stay away from Quattro.
In fact, you should stay away from ICS altogether till there's a final version and all the quirks have been figured out.
Can we hope for official version of ICS?
I have no problem to flash any update.
Which rom is more stable?
As far as I know, we have not yet been officially denied an upgrade to ICS, but it is probably not going to happen.
I'd say that both versions are equally stable (though I haven't tried andromadus v9 yet). However quattro is currently plagued with very annoying graphical glitches as far as the launcher is concerned. It doesn't seem to impact performance and can be fixed easily, but still.

Nevermid what a pity.
Maybe in the next quattro's version this issue with graphical glitches will be repaired...!Im waiting for it
You can install the RC now.
Upgrading just take 10 minutes and no wipe data needed (just dalvik cache).

And I wouldn't use htcdev to unlock your phone, use the Wiki for Htc Vision as your starting point, In addition to you voiding your warranty, the official unlocking seems problematic and you still cant' flash another radio.
ebreo: you should try both for yourself and decide. but a warning. if camera is of great importance to you then you should stay away from ICS for now. The camera is not great and very unreliable. Dont trust is to take pics of your childs first steps. But that is what you get when you deal with betas. At least there is a camera. And no matter what you should keep a working GB rom on your sd card. just incase ICS for fubar on your phone you can atleast flash a GB rom and have a working phone.

WIKI for HTC Vision This is "the" guide to follow, may seem complicated at first but take your time and read over it a few times plenty help to be found in the forums, best of luck bud.
i would say i will go for Quattro, for its virtuos oc/uv, and other tweaks, i have tried rc1 and rc2 versions.

Hi all....first up, I can't find a Q & A section in the gal W forum....so I apologize if this is the wrong place to ask this.....
I've read elsewhere about people clearing battery data when installing a custom ROM. Having recently installed CM9 (in preference to stock GB) should I have done this...or would the wipe and install have taken care of it.....does this need to be done when flashing new alphas (in my case I went from CM9 alpha 7 to alpha 8). Will it cause problems if it's not done, and on the flip side, what are the benefits of doing it?....
Thanks in advance.....Keith

Not on every alpha. Clearing battery data is needed everytime we flash another rom. This is needed for our battery to show the battery calculation to be more precise and accurate. IMO. Correct me if i'm wrong

Hi everybody. It's my first time posting on xda so forgive me maybe.
I'm currently using a LT5i on FXP CM10 ROM. I was using the FXP 201 till the previous day and I saw FXP 205 released. Decided to flash the FXP 205, I expected another good stuff for my phone and here came the trouble: It constantly freezes and restarts for no reason even though I did exactly in the instruction. This error is something I am not familiar with and Googling stuffs didn't help either.
If anyone knows how to fix this please help. Also, I'm a totally noob so please don't give me hard time understanding dev stuffs
Thanks.

Others seem to be having no problems. Perhaps its something to do with gapps. I'm assuming you used full gapps. Try the mini or light version of gapps. So long as u done your full wipes I can't see any other reason. Maybe try flash ROM let it boot then go back to recovery and flash gapps.
Edit - OK so apparently light gapps just causes FC'ing I'll link to other gapps when I'm home.

See I'm pretty sure its the kernel giving random reboots. But with LuPuS or Fusion kernel, WiFi and Bluetooth will not work on 4.2.

Hi,
May I also post on the Pro version here? There is no seperate thread for it.
It's my first attempt on a custom rom after using stock ICS. Unfortunately, I found it to be very unstable
My first attempt was Lupus/v21, now I'm on Fusion/v22. Both seem to be highly unstable. Just using apps is normally fine, but a few things seem to provoke lockups including unlocking the screen, listening to music and using the camera.
I did a full wipe before installing (system, cache, dalvik cache, data), I even tried the permissions fix.
Otherwise it seems a great rom, perfect feature set and very fast, but the unstability makes it unusable for me

Yes u can post here also. Comparing any 4.2 ROM to STOCK ICS, stock ICS would be the winner in terms of stability. 4.1 is the best if you want JB IMO. But 4.2 and especially PAC 4.2 has a lot more features, customization amongst other things. It doesn't matter on the kernel its going to be the same. This is why FXP stopped developing after CM10 for the XPERIA 2011 line-up. It will never be 100% stable as will any 4.2 ROM for Xperia 2011.
I don't know what calls you stabillity, but 4.1 is very stable, almost as 4.0. 4.2 isn't stable specially with 3.x kernels, but 4.1 is perfect. And FXP stop the development for 2011 line becase they have to develop for a lot of devices, i think.

I said 4.1 is stable. And no they stopped because without a stable 3.x kernel it would be impossible for a stable 4.2 J. There was no 3.x kernel for 2011 device back then, but even still they knew if there was a 3.x kernel it would need a lot of work to get stable, if it even can.
