I just bought an international Galaxy Note 2 and it came with 4.1.1 N7100XXALJ1 and I can update it to 4.1.2 N7100XXDMA6. I'm asking you should I update because I've read very bad reviews on this forum about bad battery life, problems with microSD cards and Wi-Fi issues. Thanks in advance!
Well you missed very bad reviews about sds bug. You could be the next anytime.
Other than that flash dma5 for your country. It has a good battery life imao. Never been on 4.1.1 so can't tell.

Bro please download "eMMC check" app from play store and then see what is the "chip type" and "FwRev"...
If your chip type is "VTU00M" and FwRev is "0xf1" then u are a victim of SDS issue :S
Victim is when he will have a sudden death.
Currently there is a high probability of vulnerability to sds bug.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
So should I update to 4.1.2 N7100XXDMA6? I don't know if I should because of the bad battery life, problems with microSD cards and some Wi-Fi issues users are reporting.
What about "VTU00M" and FwRev "0xf7"? Is it safe?
Yeah dma6 does have a bad battery try ubdll3 or xxdma5.
I tried all 2.4dll6 2.5ubdll3 2.6dma5 and 2.7dma6 of wanamlite and best was of 2.5 and 2.6
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
ubdll3 won't help, battery is poor either
So I guess it's best for me to stick with 4.1.1 N7100XXALJ1.
I thought Samsung fixed SDS bug in one of the more recent kernels?
If not just root and flash Perseus or one of the other custom kernels that has been patched. No need to man the life boats

Yup, too many people going crazy over this.... yet has a single Note 2 owner even suffered SDS yet?
Also, I wouldn't place too much trust in Exynos Abuse app on Play Store. Even on patched kernels it still reports vulnerabilities, or so I hear.

The one in this parent forums sub forum, try launchers like nova, apex, go, hold the phone differently or move your router or use 2.4ghz not 5g if that applies to you, I've heard wifi fixer helps.

All the T-Mobile roms work on the T999v (I have a t999v on Wind). This includes AOSP roms, TouchWiz and the JellyBean leaks. Same goes for kernels. As mentioned before, just don't touch any radios/modems as they will not work.

Good battery life will be ROM dependent. The ICS roms based on touchwiz should have similar battery life. I also have decent battery life on the AOSP Jellybean roms. The Jellybean touchwiz leaks are a bit more touchy. Some users report lower battery life on some ROMs though it has been improving gradually

That's ypur baseband/modem. It will remain the same when you flash roms. No rom should affect the modem in any way (as far as flashing is concerned).
So yes you can freely flash roms. But do not flash any modems not intended for your model phone!

Exactly. They are on different partitions. When you flash a rom the baseband will remain the same.
The only time this matters is when you are flashing an ota patch. Then you must be full stock, modem and all.

Nope - since the device is dead (hence the name sDs) you cannot go to download to update the ROM whatsoever.
My official fix after SDS happened was to get it to Samsung repair.
Unfortunately it takes them over a month to repair! (Hope to get it back this week, maybe that's just before our holidays)

The motherboard has been changed and so far it's all working good. However, I notice that GPS takes much longer to find a fix.

Hello I m on SDS bug chip Type: VTU00M, FwRev: 0xf1.....
but can anyone please make me understand actually what is sudden death issue????????
please someone helo as I am so much worried
99% having it, just flash latest 4.1.2 (LL7 and up) it is believed to be fixed this issue.
SDS - device can die without any reason, like you have keep device on table and just auto reboots and never turns on.

Chip is hardware and you can understand fixing with SW it doesn't change your hardware. it will remain same, but once you flash latest ROM (having fix) it will block commands which can damage device.

Step away from 4.1.1. The poor battery of 4.1.2 is a complete lie, and even if it wasn't, it's far better to have apparent protection from the SDS issue (which can kill your device stone dead), then a supposed reduction in battery life.
But if you want a custom ROM, go look in the ROM section. Plenty in there.

i dont exactly know whats new koz my phone was shipped with 4.1.2. but from what ive read here 4.1.2 is said to be SDS safe. so its wise to switch to 4.1.2. many users say 4.1.1 has better battery life than 4.1.2. but like people said here having a safe phone is more important than battery life.

The only reason to revert back would be battery life. However I personally can't remeber how it was on 4.1.1 since I flashed custom 4.1.2 few days after I got my note2. I think I will stay although I don't think SDS is related to ROM but Kernel and Recovery.

Stop commenting nonsense here. You never had good battery backup, that's why you don't know how great backup was on 4.1.1 and don't see any difference with 4.1.2.
You are not certain about something? Refrain, but don't bring rubbish.

I don't think that it's necessarily a dead device just need someone to actually take a look at it instead of believing that theirs nothing good about it. From what I've seen so far it seems to have good battery life and not half bad in performance either and contrary to what I've seen in the reviews the GFX performance it actually also very good as well it beats my TF700 pretty solidly though resolution may be a factor there.

Good afternoon.
I came upon a new tablet GT-P5200.
Really looking forward method to obtain root ...
Build number JDQ39.P5200XXUAMFC
Development will start on 10'1
Im working also on stock rooted rom, and trying to get a recovery as well.
I don't have the device yet, so if you have it, and gained root... I would like some files:
recovery.fstab
graphics.c
postrecoveryboot.sh
If someone is able to get those after you have root, and get them to me... a CWM recovery is on the way
