Hi. When I click check for updates it says my phone is already updated. Is 4.1.1 the latest version? Btw my phone is not yet rooted and ill stay unroot for awhile.

Sure is buddy. Samsung hasn't released a new update as far as I know.
If you root you can install an Aokp/Cm/Pa rom that is 4.2.2 ofcourse there is always still bugs so where

At least you still have that fantastic battery backup of 4.1.1 !
Anyway, yes, 4.1.2 is out for a long time now. It is 'believed' that it is SDS patched, so you might wanna flash it.

Making stuff up? You're not on the N7100 so you don't know. The international 4.1.2 roms eat away at your battery. The AT&T one does not. When was the last time you saw 10 hours of screen time? Never.

I've been on the 4.1.2 update since it came out in the UK. Fully stock ROM, unrooted. I get the same excellent battery life as I did on 4.1.2.

Step away from 4.1.1. The poor battery of 4.1.2 is a complete lie, and even if it wasn't, it's far better to have apparent protection from the SDS issue (which can kill your device stone dead), then a supposed reduction in battery life.
But if you want a custom ROM, go look in the ROM section. Plenty in there.

i dont exactly know whats new koz my phone was shipped with 4.1.2. but from what ive read here 4.1.2 is said to be SDS safe. so its wise to switch to 4.1.2. many users say 4.1.1 has better battery life than 4.1.2. but like people said here having a safe phone is more important than battery life.

The only reason to revert back would be battery life. However I personally can't remeber how it was on 4.1.1 since I flashed custom 4.1.2 few days after I got my note2. I think I will stay although I don't think SDS is related to ROM but Kernel and Recovery.

Stop commenting nonsense here. You never had good battery backup, that's why you don't know how great backup was on 4.1.1 and don't see any difference with 4.1.2.
You are not certain about something? Refrain, but don't bring rubbish.

I was just thinking that same thing, great, now I gotta put my phone back to stock, update, and re-root. But then the XDA snob kicked in and said "why isn't there a leaked ROM on here already deodexed lol?" So spoiled. I'm sure there will be a deodexed version posted Wednesday, if not earlier. What they mean is... wait for a dev to work their magic fingers on this update and then just flash that. No Odin back to stock and upgrading(ota). This will make it much easier and faster.

I want to just run stock with root and have it no longer say I'm modified.
Anyone know the correct order to achieve this?
I'm guessing I need to flash non custom boot manager, then use triangle away? Then take the ota?

Bro please download "eMMC check" app from play store and then see what is the "chip type" and "FwRev"...
If your chip type is "VTU00M" and FwRev is "0xf1" then u are a victim of SDS issue :S
Victim is when he will have a sudden death.
Currently there is a high probability of vulnerability to sds bug.

So should I update to 4.1.2 N7100XXDMA6? I don't know if I should because of the bad battery life, problems with microSD cards and some Wi-Fi issues users are reporting.
What about "VTU00M" and FwRev "0xf7"? Is it safe?
Yeah dma6 does have a bad battery try ubdll3 or xxdma5.
I tried all 2.4dll6 2.5ubdll3 2.6dma5 and 2.7dma6 of wanamlite and best was of 2.5 and 2.6

ubdll3 won't help, battery is poor either

Had my E4GT for a while now, came with FF18 2.3.6, then did the OTA 4.0.4 FL27, then went through FL24. Then I got sick of waiting for JB, so I threw GA10 4.1.2.
I messed up, because I Rooted, installed AGAT, then flashed the ROM on the phone. However, when I flashed either the ROOT or Recovery, the modem or something got messed up.
The phone will freeze, and reset if 4G or 3G radio is on. So my question is, what did I do wrong? And how can I fix it.

Absolutely. Just when it starts up, it works fine for about 10-15 seconds then freezes. GA10 didn't do this. This freezing only happened when I had the root and AGAt on it (I messed up one of these, and I assume it's modem issues?)
IF so, if I flash the EL29 package with the modem, it should fix my problem?
Also, it doesn't really matter...but will it make the yellow triangle and ODIN flash count go away?

I am saving towards a Galaxy S4, but in the meantime, I was wondering if there is a Rom that can make my S3 look and feel like a S4?
Thank you!
If you're talking about the features like eye tracking and finger hovering over and stuff like that then no. Its nearly impossible to port those things since its completely different hardware and TouchWiz is closed source. There is a couple of ROMs that have multi-window and other goodies but not like the S4. You can search and look around for a modified S4 launcher and theme to make it look like one. But that's as close as you'll get.

Yes, to answer your original question. There is a way to make it look like the S4.
Hyperdrive [XDA Link] - It has a few of the widgets that the S4 has as seen in the screenshots. Other than that, I would say hold off for official updates on the S3.

Only issue is the i747 and i747M seem to be the forgotten models when it comes to updates. I just read that the Verizon model just received the 4.1.2 update, and quite recently Sprint and T-Mobile received it. Also, the i9300 just got the 4.2.2 update. Meanwhile, the most used S3 (i747/i747M) hasn't received anything, nor have there been any news or hints regarding updates.

BS... ATT themselves don't have 4.1.2
they probably do but its unreleased.
Lol if you do please PLEASE provide a system dump and help the devs out. If you do why didn't you say so if every stock TW ROM on xda is only 4.1.1.
If you had it wouldn't you of noticed every single ATT S3 out there was different from yours? .... Sorry and apologize for the language but its straight BS
And here is the direct link to an ATT s3 that only ships with 4.1

My AT&T SGH-i747 only came with 4.1.1. (Somehow, I thought I had 4.1.2; but, apparently I was wrong.)
I was also searching for ways to upgrade the software to make it more S4-like. If I must wait, then I must wait. But I really enjoy tinkering with it.
Until recently, I had AOKP Android 4.2.2 on it, but an update (9-10-2013) caused my phone, messaging, and several other apps to disappear.
So now, I'm back to the original factory, unlocked, unrooted, stock Android 4.1.1.
It wants to do an AT&T update, but I don't know what the update is. So, I haven't approved it yet. I want to go back to AOKP, but I can't find the file I used with ODIN to root it the first time.

If you are going to AOKP, I think you just need to flash a recovery, i.e. CWM or TWRP and flash the rom of your choice.
flash rom to 4.1.2
As long as you're not rooted the built in OTA updater in the Settings should update you to 4.1.2. I recommend CF Auto Root and pwncakes' Quantum rom (4.3) if you like AOSP, if not, Hyperdrive is easily the most complete TW rom.

The only thing you can do is wait for Samsung to release the 4.2.2 update.

Really?
It will be out when someone gets around to it can mod it and test.
Shouldn't hurry it.
Usually it is a few days to get a rooted stock Rom.

Thanks!!!:laugh::good:
Well the firmware is already available.
But the devs will need time to pull it apart and make flashables from it
And there will also need to be testing with how the newer radios work.
And potential issues with being on the older bootloader for those that have not updated due to Knox.

^This!
But if you update with 4.4 from samsung and have Knox it will void that.
Everything else should work though.
I, like many others, are not trying to get into this whole Knox thing.
I am just wondering if it will work okay with the old radios.
My wife's s4 is not rooted. When i update get phone would it go back to set up again and i have to reinstall everything or just update it and it will be like before?

I've read that when updating to Kitkat the s4, that it would mess with the sd card. It's there a fix already for non rooted phones?
