Engadet just posted how you can push links to android 2.2 running Froyo.
ONLY FOR ANDROID 2.2 FROYO
Full story:
http://www.engadget.com/2010/05/31/how-to-push-chrome-firefox-links-to-your-android-2-2-froyo-de/
1. download the Google Chrome to Phone Extension application here. Make sure Settings > Applications > Unknown Sources is checked if you're installing over USB
2. Download the latest version of the Chrome to Phone extension from the same page, or get the Firefox version here.
3. In your web browser of choice, log into your Google Account.
4. On your phone, start the Chrome to Phone application
5. In the app, add the Google Account you'd like to share with.
Click on "Register Device" to link your account to the Google Chrome to Phone service.
Finally, open up that web browser, find something you'd like to share, then click the new icon in the toolbar to beam it to your phone. Now you're cooking with fi--we mean, now you can continue your browsing sessions, share YouTube videos and get those Google Maps.
dose anyone think WOW i nead this feature?
i didt.. am i missing somthing?
using push means apps don't longer have to make a connection to the server in order to check for updates. Making updates doesn't come immediately (depends on the update interval) and draining the battery more. Pushing means that the server 'pushes' the changes to the apps when there's an update. So people will receive their updates immediately.

Yes you are.
Froyo brings the "cloud to device" functionality to 3rd party apps, essentially allowing application developers to use a lightweight "push" notification service rather than having to do their own thing.
Whilst this particular use of the service may not be of interest to you, I can assure you that this is going to be tremendously useful in the future once developers start getting to grips with it.
Regards,
Dave

one simple example, you are in hurry to go to a company that you don't know where it is, so you just browse their website in your pc, find the location in google maps, and push it to your phone.
I know that we can do that also from the phone, but no matter how good a phone is, for now it is still easier to do that in a pc rather than in a phone.

maybe its just the way i use my phone, i would just pop the post code in google maps on the phone, or use the voice navigate to feature.
i understand cloud/push tech, and when we finally get Firefox on android with Firefox sync i can see me making use of tab syncing.
but the whole push a webpage to my phone - but i am sure there will be other great cloud/push apps.
the firefox extension link is broken - this is working from chrome though. Any idea what happened to the firefox extension?
I'm guessing the Firefox plugin is this one:

Very bloody useful if you ask me!
does anybody know if it also works the otherway around, so from phone to pc?
You might notice that if we input wrong url in the default internet application, then it'll take us to Bing search.. Yess, its Bing, instead of Google
Do you have any idea how to change its default behaviour to use google as the default?
I'm using Desire bought in Germany.. Have made a search and all are directing to editing some sort of registry which I don't think that's apply for Android device...
Thanks in advance..
thats very strange, ive never heard of bing on an android phone as default as it should be google. If you have location enabled does ite ven change to bing.country or does it always default to bing.com not bing.it bing.co.uk etc?
I dont think there is a option anywhere in the settings to do this and if you wish to change it you will need to root.
If you root and install an unbranded non vodafone rom on i bet it will work.
Hi Alex, thanks for comment.
You can try this on u'r desire:
- Type wrong internet address on the url form
- It will bring you to Bing search (instead of google), which from there it will give lists of potentially correct url...
Mine is unbranded since I bought from amazon.de, so I'm very sure all Desire behaves like this..
Pity if its true that we can change it :-(
HTC Desire + XDA Inhouse App
Odd, if I do a URL wrong it just comes up with the Android "Web page not available" site.
It was baked into the ROM by your provider. The only way to remove it is to root your phone and install a generic ROM.
hey there. with the hopefully soon WP7 rom i just wanted to know if you will be able to use internet explorer? cotulla says that we wont be able to use live services, what are these live services? i know one will be obviously the marketplace, but what else?
regards

I'm not exactly sure what the question is.... Live services could be pertaining to the "Ring", "Lock", and "Map" features. But again, shot in the dark.
ok well when WP7 rom is released what wont you be able to do on it? will features like internet explorer be enabled?
Not sure what rom are you referring to?
The one for the HD2??
Not sure but I'm guessing it means anything you need to use your windows live ID to sign in.
So youre windows live contacts, xbox live, windows live calander, live email etc, basically their cloud services. I dont see the point in using the phone without many of these features as its a big part of the way the phone works.
How do i change my main account to my new windows live account? ive added my new one, but it wont register as the new one. Is it possible? or is there a registry hack?
Sadly, the only way to use a new Windows Live ID as your primary one is to do a reset, and when it asks you what Live ID you want to use, make sure you add it first. You can't switch Live IDs any time you like without a reset. And any additional Live IDs you add will not and cannot become your primary one.
Please use the forum search tool, or read the original documentation for Windows Phone 7. This question has been asked (and answered) countless times.
I believe you have to hard reset and start again. An option would be nice
I saw it before, but the thread was old, and i wasnt certain whether they had changed it in the NoDo update. but is there any registry hacks?

No. It has not been changed (if it did it would have been on the change logs most likely) and if there is a reg hack, no one has found it yet. Hard reset is the way to go.
id rather not hard rest, considering ill lose the dev hack and my apps. but if found ways to edit my live account and change the address to my gmail account, so ill work with what i have

MS considers the apps tied to the account. so moving to a new account means all those apps are lost. perhaps you should ask MS if there is a way to transfer those apps across to the new account? this is more in terms of actual purchased apps, rather than free apps.

Can you use a Live account on different phones, but with a different X Box Live Account on each phone?

I think you can use the same Live ID on upto 3 phones, i may be wrong though but no you cant use 2 different IDs on the same phone. Your main Live ID is linked to Xbox and Zune also on your phone.
Hey, wondering if you guys can help me out. I have an Android phone and I think I'm going to WP7. Do I need a Windows Live ID?
Disclaimer:::: I don't play games so I wont use Xbox and I don't use hotmail or windows live messenger. So basically do I need one and why?
yes, why? because you might need one later on. I believe you can use your phone without setting an id but you probably can't use some of the services.

You will if you want access to skydrive. You can upload your images/videos there after you take them.
I believe you can use your gmail account as your live id too
If you want to interact with any of Microsoft services you'll need a Live ID. This includes interacting with the app store. I imagine Android is similar with its market as well? I know Apple requires an account.

Yes you can. I just set one up and I used my Gmail. Much appreciation.
Use a windows live id to set the phone up and then forward it to whatever other account you use for email and stuff.
