Im sure this has been out there somewhere but i have been unable to find something, Im running NexusEvolution 3.0.0 ROM and just upgraded my radio to FF02/FG02. problem is i keep dropping calls, have even before upgrading thats why i upgraded in hopes to fix it. Any ideas what is going on? this is seriously driving me crazy. doesnt matter where i am or who im talking to. When it happens i will look at the signal and its usually down to 1/2 grey bars ( no 3g/4g) or no bars at all then it will jump back up. Please help me figure this out. Thanks.
flash a different radio.
This is the second one what other one would i flash, should be the most up to date one i thought.

Don't tamper with the radio then.
Re-flash the original radio and then go to your dialer and type *#*#4636#*#*.
Go to Phone Information and change the type of signal to whatever you enjoy.
GSM = WCDMA only
CDMA = LTE Only or w.e

OK! i've been searching and searching but i did not get a direct answer. So i have decided to put up this thread for someone to help me.
I have the 8525. I've gone from the WM5 to the WM6, i upgraded from the AT&T Rom to the cooked roms now. But i see that i do not get enough bars on my phone. Initially i thought it was my location.
But recently i switched to my older phone (which is the Tmobile Dash unlocked) and i see that i have full bars ... on the phone in the same location.
So i know that it's the phone.
How do i go about solving this problem.
would the RADIO versions help... for example changing the RADIO on my phone. if so which one would you recommend.
Thanks in advance xda developers members.
*** update ****
After posting, i decided to search for the orignial ROM from ATT and i found it.
I reflashed my phone w/ the ROM. the only reason i don't like the original ROM is because of the unnecessary stuff that comes with it.
But i see full bars now.
So what are some of the recommended ROM's here. I have the new ATT (cingular) and all is well except w/ the recent ROM's i was getting really bad reception. and like 2 to 3 bars.
So any suggestions will be welcomed for sure.
try a new radio
who is ur service with ? and where you from
that will help us give you some answers
Not to mention that 3 bars on my phone may not be as loud as 1 bar in yours. More important is how it sounds and how you sound....
1 bar a good reception
OK!... just to point out.
I reflashed w/ the ATT original rom but no luck.
Once i had full bars, it went down to like 2 or 3
But as mentioned one's 1 bar may be as loud as 3 bars on anothers.
I guess that was the problem with mine. I used to get like 2 or 3 bars, but i did have good reception. But i would notice that my calls would get disconnected.
So that is my concern, i realize now that i can have 2 or 3 bars and have good call quality. But i do get calls that get disconnected. Didn't really have that problem before.
I live in NJ
I have Cingular (ATT) service.
Currently i've flashed the original RUU from HTC for the 8525
lets see how that works.
But as far as the bar situation or the dropped calls, would that be a hard ware problem or a soft ware problem?
Also would it be the ROM or the Radio?
thanks in advance.
What radio version are U using? It sounds like a radio issue. A lot of at&t USA people have had call success with radio 1.48. But, others have worked also.
im in central nj, and im using 1.51 or whatever the latest one is, and i have no problems, its all about the same for me.
I live west coast and use 1.50. I seem to always see 1.48 and 1.50 recognized as the best all around. But u may also try 1.51; It seems hit or miss, but if it works it looks like it works real good.
This happened to me when I changed to another radio for the first time.
You need to go into your band selection, and chose it manually. After doing ths, you should be able to soft-reset and set it back to auto, and it should work.
Phone > Options > Band
Select whatever your provider is. Reset, then choose auto again.
I have no idea why, but this fixed my issues.
Hi, sorry for posting this, but after searching for a long while, I couldn't find the thread that contained a list of all the radio versions and their compatibility with the various regions.
What I am looking for is the best radio for AT&T for use in NYC Metro area in USA.
Also the same for T-Mobile as well.
Thanks in advance..

Lets keep this thread going for a while. I just shifted from 1.54.30.10 to 1.48.00.00. The 1.48.00.00 is a good ATT radio.
Status on Radio : 1.47.30.10
After installing this radio. I've tried it out on my ATT 8525 (with no data) so all the 3G and other data settings were removed and turned off.
The call quality is better. Sorry I dont remember what was the previous radio version that was on the phone. I guess whatever came with Schaps 4.31.
Still using Schaps 4.31. Only thing to say is.. dont know if it's OS related or Radio related is. In one call after clicking on disconnect the phone still shows .. connecting like as if I am still dialing the call.
Had to do a reset to restart the phone to operate the phone call feature again.

Usually is best to reflash the ROM after flashing radio. Also try not flashing radio too often as it can lead to a brick, if you want to flash to a big storage best to flash a stripped ROm from Veyka's 4 shared so you don't update radio.
Most ROMs if not all here don't include radio. Except one from one of the noob chef a while back.
The best radio for me by far in New Jersey and went to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina is 1.56.70.11. I have had this radio for quite some time now.
1.47.30.10 works best for me in LA
....if this specific question....very specific question....was already answered...
I can't stay connected to a 4g network. My evo will connect to 4g, stay on for 10 secs, and then disconnect. Then I have to manually reconnect, and the entire process repeats. Before you go passing judgement please read the following:
- I've used terminal emulator to make sure my WiMax Mac is correct.
- I'm using radio 2.15.00.09.01
- Installed a stock version of the OTA 3.29.651.5 and rooted it using this thread: [Guide] How to apply the new OTA 3.29.651.5 when you have clockwork and s-off (sorry can't post links yet)
- WiMax radio is 26023
- PRI is 1.77_oo0
- PRL is 60670
I read something about increasing the timout reconnect from 10 to 300 in another thread that I have bookmarked.
My question is this
Is this the normal function of the WiMax code or does this have something to do with the rooted rom I installed?
Is the only way to fix this done by changing the timeout value mentioned before?
Once again, I will blow my head off if this has been answered before.
Thanks
Shouldn't have anything to do with the rom. Have you ever been able to connect (and stay connected) to 4g? Are you in an "official" 4g area? from what I've seen, the disconnect issues you're describing are normal in areas where they're still rolling out 4g, but it isn't fully up and running yet.
You can also try renaming the xxxx.tree.xml file in /data/misc/wimax/ while the wimax is off, and letting it rebuild the xml file again the next time you turn 4g on - but I think this only helps for the constantly scanning issues. Note that you're renaming that file (instead of deleting it completely) so you can go back to it if you run into any issues.

there is a thread in the dev sectin on how to change your 4g connection timeout. One simple thing you can try is to update your profile in software updates.
If people had more useful thread titles, don't you agree that it would be easier to search them?
Might have to blow my head off......

Thanks for responding....I've already updated my profile and I know about the 4G connection timeout thread.
I mentioned in my original question I already have that thread bookmarked (not tyring to be a ****, didn't know if you caught that).

I have never been able to connect and stay connected to 4G.....but I'm not really aware of any official 4G areas around here. I live in north jersey as well.
I picked up a strong 4G signal by coincidence while near the border of two towns (Clifton and Passaic....not sure if you're familiar with them) and that was when I started experiencing the disconnect/manual-reconnect issues.
I never connected to a 4G network before I rooted my phone because I could never get a signal. It was only until recently, after I rooted, that I've only been able to connect semi-successfully. I tried a good 10 times with the same results.
i.e.
I'd get a strong signal, do a speed test (which was blistering at 8577/1049 on the first try and 7699/1020 the second), and then let the phone sit idle. It will always disconnect, but I have no problems whatsoever manually reconnecting.
My confusion was whether or not this was common for people who have stock, non-rooted, clean as your baby sister's "you know what" Evos when trying to connect to a non-official 4G network, or is something wrong with how I rooted/the rom I used/whatever. Should I have to manually reconnect? Should the phone automatically disconnect from the 4G and go to 3G after a certain idle time? Should the phone automatically use 4G as the main connect if I have the WiMax radio on and the signal is really strong?
I assume I'm connecting to a non-official 4G signal.
Don't get me wrong I enjoy modding anything that has a circuitboard, but keeping up with all the issues can be a little annoying. Being a novice coder, this platform (new to Android) doesn't seem to be to complicated and I'm learning quickly. I have a spare PS3 sitting in my closet still running YDL. You used to be able to install an addtional OS on the PS3 before Sony got pissed because people were f***in up their PS3's. Sony "forced" an update that removed the ability to install another OS on the system, and the update actually wiped-out any other OS you had already installed. I put YDL on the PS3 so I could run NES/SNES/Genesis roms.
Back on topic, and to make a long story short (waaaaaaaaaaayyyyyy to late for that I guess), I'm just wondering whether or not my phone is working as it should.
Like I said, the phone connects...I do some stuff like a speed test....then disconnects automatically. Then I get a 4G notificiation in the main Android notification pull-down menu....and re-connect manually. The 4G signal is really strong, not sure if it's official.
Thanks for responding btw, I really appreciate your comments and I'll check out what this tree.xml file is all about. I understand the annoyance though. Not only is it annoying to have multiple threads all talking about the same thing, programmatically it's extremely inefficient and redundant.
Hence, if this question has been asked, I'll blow my head off with a 12 guage.
yes...agreed....but

sometimes getting good advice comes with grabbing attention from the right person. I've elicited an informative response from a couple other members. I thank them for being helpful to someone new.
can't I change the title of my own thread later on?
EDIT: An as soon as I changed the title, views dropped dead...cause I knew a title with good keywords would get no attention.
And you've ensured that while YOU may get advice and a solution, no one in the future will be able to use that same advice because this thread isn't likely to show up in a proper search.
Also, how many people know the answer but don't click on threads with titles as useless as this one? I would bet far more than who would click on it.
This is just basic forum etiquette, not anything unique to XDA.

......you are correct....I understand....that is why I'm going to change the title of the thread. Are you looking for me to say I'm sorry or something?
correct me if I'm wrong, but the site also indexes the content of the message as well. I'm very familiar with SEO and understand that a lot of indexing logic places heavy emphasis on the title of the thread, but the keywords in the content of the page also have a lot to do with how the thread pages get indexed. It doesn't solely rely on the title.
Just to put this to an end, I'm sorry for titling this thread as such?
Now, any thoughts on the actual question that I posted or are you going to stay mad at me forever?
Hey guys, tried to do my reading and research before making a thread - so I hope this isn't answered somewhere obvious but if so I apologize beforehand.
I have a Galaxy S3 i747 on Telus Mobility in Alberta, Canada. I was an affluent iPhone junkie, but this was my first foray into Android. Love it. I successfully rooted the stock firmware, got clockwork installed and then decided I wanted to move into a custom rom.
I got the 11/27 Nightly installed no problems and had no issues. Upon updating to the 12/27, everything went smoothly except I couldn't get 4G connectivity at home. I usually can have 4G at home, no questions asked. Upon updating, back to 3G only.
Checked APN Settings
Ensured Preferred network
Enabled Mobile Data
I went to a city about an hour away and intermittently, the phone grabbed 4G. It would switch over, let me connect at full speed then switch back to 3G. Upon returning home, back to 3G. Again, normally I NEVER see 3G, always atleast 4, then LTE when I go to Edmonton.
Anyone have any ideas?? Love CMOD and don't really wanna flash back to stock.
Thanks guys, this place is a wealth of information and a joy to read.

Any ideas?
Cannot find a solution to my problem, so finally throwing in the towel. If this is not posted in the right section, please let me know.
I have a US cellular SCH-R760. Was having issues with it (ended up just being bad battery) and decided to start trying custom roms so I could upgrade to JB. Obviously isn't available yet for the USC version, so using the E4GT roms. I am currently running Slim Bean and love it. Have also tried Jellybam and Wild for the Night, and have had the same issue on every one: speakerphone not working at all. The speaker itself works fine for media, but if I try to put a call on speakerphone, I get absolutely nothing. Same for phone Bluetooth audio. Media Bluetooth works fine, but nothing for the phone.

Actually, there is a US Cellular page where, as I read earlier on these forums, they port E4GT roms all the time. You should fine your device there.
