....if this specific question....very specific question....was already answered...
I can't stay connected to a 4g network. My evo will connect to 4g, stay on for 10 secs, and then disconnect. Then I have to manually reconnect, and the entire process repeats. Before you go passing judgement please read the following:
- I've used terminal emulator to make sure my WiMax Mac is correct.
- I'm using radio 2.15.00.09.01
- Installed a stock version of the OTA 3.29.651.5 and rooted it using this thread: [Guide] How to apply the new OTA 3.29.651.5 when you have clockwork and s-off (sorry can't post links yet)
- WiMax radio is 26023
- PRI is 1.77_oo0
- PRL is 60670
I read something about increasing the timout reconnect from 10 to 300 in another thread that I have bookmarked.
My question is this
Is this the normal function of the WiMax code or does this have something to do with the rooted rom I installed?
Is the only way to fix this done by changing the timeout value mentioned before?
Once again, I will blow my head off if this has been answered before.
Thanks
Shouldn't have anything to do with the rom. Have you ever been able to connect (and stay connected) to 4g? Are you in an "official" 4g area? from what I've seen, the disconnect issues you're describing are normal in areas where they're still rolling out 4g, but it isn't fully up and running yet.
You can also try renaming the xxxx.tree.xml file in /data/misc/wimax/ while the wimax is off, and letting it rebuild the xml file again the next time you turn 4g on - but I think this only helps for the constantly scanning issues. Note that you're renaming that file (instead of deleting it completely) so you can go back to it if you run into any issues.

there is a thread in the dev sectin on how to change your 4g connection timeout. One simple thing you can try is to update your profile in software updates.
If people had more useful thread titles, don't you agree that it would be easier to search them?
Might have to blow my head off......

Thanks for responding....I've already updated my profile and I know about the 4G connection timeout thread.
I mentioned in my original question I already have that thread bookmarked (not tyring to be a ****, didn't know if you caught that).

I have never been able to connect and stay connected to 4G.....but I'm not really aware of any official 4G areas around here. I live in north jersey as well.
I picked up a strong 4G signal by coincidence while near the border of two towns (Clifton and Passaic....not sure if you're familiar with them) and that was when I started experiencing the disconnect/manual-reconnect issues.
I never connected to a 4G network before I rooted my phone because I could never get a signal. It was only until recently, after I rooted, that I've only been able to connect semi-successfully. I tried a good 10 times with the same results.
i.e.
I'd get a strong signal, do a speed test (which was blistering at 8577/1049 on the first try and 7699/1020 the second), and then let the phone sit idle. It will always disconnect, but I have no problems whatsoever manually reconnecting.
My confusion was whether or not this was common for people who have stock, non-rooted, clean as your baby sister's "you know what" Evos when trying to connect to a non-official 4G network, or is something wrong with how I rooted/the rom I used/whatever. Should I have to manually reconnect? Should the phone automatically disconnect from the 4G and go to 3G after a certain idle time? Should the phone automatically use 4G as the main connect if I have the WiMax radio on and the signal is really strong?
I assume I'm connecting to a non-official 4G signal.
Don't get me wrong I enjoy modding anything that has a circuitboard, but keeping up with all the issues can be a little annoying. Being a novice coder, this platform (new to Android) doesn't seem to be to complicated and I'm learning quickly. I have a spare PS3 sitting in my closet still running YDL. You used to be able to install an addtional OS on the PS3 before Sony got pissed because people were f***in up their PS3's. Sony "forced" an update that removed the ability to install another OS on the system, and the update actually wiped-out any other OS you had already installed. I put YDL on the PS3 so I could run NES/SNES/Genesis roms.
Back on topic, and to make a long story short (waaaaaaaaaaayyyyyy to late for that I guess), I'm just wondering whether or not my phone is working as it should.
Like I said, the phone connects...I do some stuff like a speed test....then disconnects automatically. Then I get a 4G notificiation in the main Android notification pull-down menu....and re-connect manually. The 4G signal is really strong, not sure if it's official.
Thanks for responding btw, I really appreciate your comments and I'll check out what this tree.xml file is all about. I understand the annoyance though. Not only is it annoying to have multiple threads all talking about the same thing, programmatically it's extremely inefficient and redundant.
Hence, if this question has been asked, I'll blow my head off with a 12 guage.
yes...agreed....but

sometimes getting good advice comes with grabbing attention from the right person. I've elicited an informative response from a couple other members. I thank them for being helpful to someone new.
can't I change the title of my own thread later on?
EDIT: An as soon as I changed the title, views dropped dead...cause I knew a title with good keywords would get no attention.
And you've ensured that while YOU may get advice and a solution, no one in the future will be able to use that same advice because this thread isn't likely to show up in a proper search.
Also, how many people know the answer but don't click on threads with titles as useless as this one? I would bet far more than who would click on it.
This is just basic forum etiquette, not anything unique to XDA.

......you are correct....I understand....that is why I'm going to change the title of the thread. Are you looking for me to say I'm sorry or something?
correct me if I'm wrong, but the site also indexes the content of the message as well. I'm very familiar with SEO and understand that a lot of indexing logic places heavy emphasis on the title of the thread, but the keywords in the content of the page also have a lot to do with how the thread pages get indexed. It doesn't solely rely on the title.
Just to put this to an end, I'm sorry for titling this thread as such?
Now, any thoughts on the actual question that I posted or are you going to stay mad at me forever?

I was wondering if anyone else has this issue. I think most people know by now the issue we all ran into with 4G after we flashed roms with the new OTA update. The 4G would just be stuck at "scanning...." and never connect.
Anyways, I did manage to fix the 4G issue using bigbiff's steps here. So now the 4G connects with no issues but there's one problem: when I leave 4G area or go indoors and come back into 4G area it won't reconnect by itself. I have to either turn on and off 4G or hit the "Scan" button.
If anyone can give me any insight or ideas as to what's going on that would be very awesome.
I have the same problem, and I have seen at least one other person mention this problem (it's kind of hard to search the forum for this problem, since all you get are the folks having problems connecting to 4G).
This started after the OTA update. If the 4G signal fades out, the 4G status remains in "scanning" even in known 4G areas. I made one 4G change to try and fix this - I changed the wimax_idle_sleep time from 10 to 300 as was recommended in the 4G problem posts.
I am wondering if anyone knows what the other 4G settings do and if any of them would fix the problem. So far the only way I know to reconnect to 4G is to turn the radio off and on.
I posted this in another forum, the more frequented one. I thought it was more applicable there since this might be an issue concerning rooting, custom ROMs, home ROM flashing, or all the above. Until I see a wave of non-rooted users complaining about this, I think Sprint has found a gotcha for rooters and flashers. Input from some ROM developers would be nice if they happen to visit this forum.
I can enter a 4g area, turn on 4g, and connect. When I leave a 4g area, turn off 4g, then turn 4g back on before re-entering 4g area and enter a 4g area, it is stuck scanning. It never attaches to the 4g network in the area I entered. If I turn 4g off and on while in 4g area, it will connect.
Are unrooted stock users having these problems? It is a real let down and PITA. Is 4g working perfectly in all scenarios for any rooted user?

I also think it's related to one of the images we have to flash to get root, as the behavior is definitely different than stock. I noticed this after I first rooted / nand unlocked my phone, but before I applied the new radio & wimax. On my phone, however, 4G does eventually come back up. It might take 5 minutes or more, but it does eventually reconnect.
I'm not sure that it's really a bug though. I actually prefer this behavior because it results in fewer dropped connections when switching between 3G and 4G. For streaming apps (Rhapsody, Pandora, Youtube, etc) the frequent switching forces you to have to start the stream over. I think it might have been an attempt to increase the stability of the data connection at the expense of having a 4G connection less of the time. Could be a hold over from one of the older engineering builds we had to flash during the rooting process? It's strange that the behavior persists after flashing a new radio/wimax, but maybe it's actually controlled elsewhere.
Add me to the list. This is from my post about 20 hours ago which hasn't received any bites:
I have seen various issues reported:
1) 4g won't turn on. PERIOD.
2) 4g turns on but only scans - never connects.
3) 3g/4g alternate so there is never a stable connection.
4) 4g turns on and connects but after a while disconnects and won't reconnect until it is toggled on/off with the widget or check box in settings.
I used to have #3 until I did whitslack's "start over" method and now I have #4. I've changed my wimax idle sleep time to 300 in ##data# and verified a good MAC so other than the 2 evo last resort method I think I've tried everything other than the above.
So, does anyone know if renaming/moving macaddress.tree.xml is for my issue #4? Or does anyone know a specific fix for #4?
If it matters I rooted with toast 1/2 and am still on the rooted stock ROM from whitslack's "start over" method.

Some Observations:
I've noticed the following differences since the OTA (with Root-from the "How to Start over with 1.47.651.1" thread):
1. The 4G reconnection problem.
2. Bluetooth no longer auto connects when my headset is in range.
3. I have been getting "Error 67 Data Connection Lost" errors. This error blocks me from 3G data connectivity for a few minutes. During this time, "Mobile Networks" shows "Turning On" in the settings.
I suspect it is one of the following:
a. There is still a radio problem with the rooted OTA
b. the PRI that has not been updated since the root crack matters with this release.
c. Sprint/HTC introduced some new bugs.
d. Some hardware settings need to be tweaked (like the timeout that folks are changing from 10 to 300).
So we need to figure out who is having this problem, and under what circumstances.
I did however note something very interesting. I have repeated this 4 times today. If the 4G disconnects and stays in scanning, if you then place a call it will immediately reconnect. This leads me to believe that it is indeed a setting, and a voice call triggers it (if you recall in May, Sprint was saying that they hope to have Simultaneous Voice and 4G - so there is probably some code to trigger 4G at this point).
What do you folks think.

I would take C out because I have not read complaints by non-rooted users.
The latest PRI is 1.40_003. Right?
Who can bring this over? ROM developers say those features are not part of what they do. If not them, then who?

I think being rooted currently sucks. One of EVO's greatest strengths, connectivity, has been crippled.
sw99, did you try the move the xml file with your mac address solution? If so, I guess it didn't make any difference.

I will try making a call tomorrow when this happens and report back.
I had the same problem pre-root.
I wont be able to help anybody too much with technical stuff 'cause I'm basically a non-technical guy, but I've had the same problem with wimax dropping & not reconnecting ever since the OTA update (1.47....). I went to a Sprint store & the guy just went cross eyed, so it may not be too common.
In my case the connection will SOMETIMES come back on its own with a really strong signal, but rarely.
I just rooted tonight so I have no idea if it's worse or not, but I'll find out tomorrow, eh?
I've also had difficulty with Bluetooth automatically connecting, but I have a new stereo so I don't know where the issue lies.

Nope. Didn't touch the xml file, as my 4G was connecting, and the fix was for 4G just scanning.
I still think we can tweak the WIMAX settings and make it come back faster.

Well at least its faster than toggling the 4G radio - just find a friend with a mobile phone so you don't waste any minutes.

Just dial your own number which takes you to voice mail and shouldn't waste minutes. I'll probably put a direct dial shortcut on my home screen until a solution comes along. Not that I'm worried about wasting my regular minutes....I used 29 of 450 on my last bill!
I can now confirm that moving/deleting the xml file does nothing for our problem. At least not on my EVO.
So, I've been looking at the WIMAX settings (using ##DATA# and my MSL).
There are some settings that look like they could be effecting this problem. Be forewarned, however, that some of the values preset are not considered "valid" when you make a change (leading me to add credence to my theory that HTC/Sprint goofed), so I'm hoping a nandroid backup will recover them. Open each parameter and deleting the values, gives you a popup of the valid values and units.
Here is what I tried so far:
wimax_idle_sleep(s) changed from 10 to 300 seconds - effect: little to none.
wimax_scan_attempt_timeout(s) changed from 1 to 20 seconds - effect: little to none. (note only 5-300 are valid values after this change).
Other parameters that look interesting and their default values:
Wimax_scan_retry(s): 300 Seconds
Wimax_entry_delays(s): 300 seconds
wimax_exit_delay(s): 2 seconds
idle_mode_timer: 60 seconds
Standby Time: 10 Minutes
handoff Threshold: 6
Anyone willing to mess with these (at the risk of losing Wimax, of course)?
That is one place I'm not going to mess around. I saw a stern warning about that recently on the dev forum.

I did see a couple of non-root complaints, but I can't find them now (not on your standard sites).
Hey guys, I have had a problem recently devolop on my phone, regarding 4g. First, I will start by saying that I have read just about everything I can read regarding broken 4g, but find nothing pertaining to my specific issue. Secondly, is there anyone is the Las Vegas area having issues connecting to 4g? Next, here is quick run down of the issue. I use 4g daily, all the time. I have never had an issue with it. I am currently using Myn's warm two point two, RLS2, on kings #11. Never had an issue with 4g, no matter what ROM i've used actually. I have NEVER flashed a wimax update. I have flashed a radio update, maybe a month ago or so. So I was tethering while on 4g, and I downloaded a modified "sexy" rosy, with the browser button on it. I then booted to recovery, wiped cache and davlik, then flashed the rosie zip and rebooted. Everything seemed fine, rosie worked, and all was well. Then I went to turn on 4g, and it won't connect. Just says scanning, connecting to sprint, disconnected, scanning, connecting to sprint, disconnected. After trying a billion times, once I got it to connect, for about 10 seconds, i had great 4g signal (as i always did prior to this) then it kicked back to 3g, and was continuing its scanning loop. So i restored my nandroid backup (which I made right before I flashed that rosie zip, while 4g was working) and I still have the same problem. So, my question is, is it possible to screw up the RSA keys, having not even flashed a wimax radio update? Or am i just experiencing some insane coincidence, that this started happening immediately after flashing that rosie zip. I am not sure how much troubleshooting i should put into this, seeing as I dont see how its possible that flashing that zip could've screwed up my 4g RSA keys. I am not sure how to figure out if it's my phone or sprint's network that is the problem. I have read some threads on how to check if the RSA keys are still in tact, which I will probably try to test that later, but I have never used a command prompt, or ADB shell before. I guess it's time for to read up on that and learn how to do it. I get confused about if I'm supposed to be doing these commands from the phone or my PC. Does anyone have any opinions, suggestions, ideas, insight? Anything? Any pointers would be super appreciated. Thanks fellas.
Sounds like 4g network went down. Can't be anything else if you were able to actually connect even though it was only for a brief moment.

Thanks for the reply. That is certainly what I am hoping. I used root explorer to look at my MAC address, via data/misc/wimax and the number it provides me with matches the number under my battery, so I believe that is a good thing. One of the post's I read, regarding this issue, said to rename that number (xxxxxxx.tree.xml) to xxxxxxxx.tree.xml.old. I'm not exactly sure what that will do, or if I should try it. I am hesitant to play with things I dont know about (yet). Any further suggestions or opinions? If I were to call sprint, would they tell me if 4g was down in my area? We did have 4 straight days with some pretty insane and sporrattic lightning storms. Perhaps something got damaged.
thanks
So it turns out 4g is down near my house. I'm on 4g right now, just in a different part of town. Sorry for wasting the thread space. Thanks again
First off, yes, I have used search and have read any thread where people said they could not get 4G to connect. I have used google to search for a solution as well. I am posting this with that hope that someone may have an insight and if I can resolve my issues hopefully others will be able to as well.
The Problem: My EVO will not connect to 4G service. It turns on, goes to scanning, connecting to sprint, authenticating to sprint, obtaining IP address, disconnecting, scanning, connecting to sprint, …
The History: I have always kept nandroids of pretty much everything I do on my EVO. I have nandroid backups from the first time I rooted my phone still hanging around. I have used nothing but AMon-Ra 1.8 and later recoveries and made sure that the wimax partition was backed up. The week before last my EVO connected fine with 4G. Last week Myn updated to RLS5 and naturally I ran out and updated it. Unfortunately I don’t have 4G coverage (or 3G or 1x for that matter) where I live so I didn’t notice that my 4G stopped working until I got to Salt Lake City. I figured it must be something to do with the Wimax towers in the area so I wrote it off. I have had that happen in various places that didn’t have official Wimax roll-out yet. When I got to Seattle it was still doing the same thing, that is when I started to get concerned. So I sat in a parking lot where I knew there was great 4G coverage (my laptop has a wimax radio in it so I could see the good coverage from Sprint) and proceeded to roll back to a version that I know worked. No good, still no 4G connection. That is when I started digging through everything I could find.
The Troubleshooting process: First thing I thought was that maybe I had whacked my MAC address. So I ran to XDA forums, checked out the post on how to check if my MAC is still good. MAC address reported by fastboot oem wimaxrmac is the same as the one under my battery. Maybe I whacked my keys? Again, ran to XDA forums and found that I can run ‘cat /dev/mtd/mtd0 | grep RSA’ and see if my keys are there. Sure enough ----BEGIN RSA PRIVATE KEY---- and ----END RSA PRIVATE KEY---- is there. OK, it doesn’t seem to be the keys, but lets check to see if the keys that are there belong to me and my EVO. So again, back to XDA. This time I find a post that shows how to extract the RSA key and the device certificate and then run an MD5 sum to see if they belong together. It also shows how to look at the cert to make sure it belongs to your evo. Sure enough md5 checks out and the cert has my mac in it in the proper places. OK, lets check on the tree.xml file. Sure enough it has the right mac. OK, delete it like the instructions say. Now, I restart 4g, it creates a new xml file, but doesn’t connect. That’s ok, the guide says it likely wont. I update profile/prl, reboot, turn on 4g and no go again. Lets do the profile and prl again just for good measure, same result. Hmm, look there is another way to do the profile update. ##data#, data profile, menu->restore. The phone reboots and runs through all the provisioning steps. Still the same results. Once more, back to xda forums. This time I find a post about checking your wimax partitions with wimax_mtd. Well, wimax_mtd thinks its all good too.
By this time I am really confused and figure maybe I can unroot and apply the RUU to dump it back to default config. Now my phone is unrooted and STILL doesn’t have 4G access. After rooting the phone again and going back to another sense based rom I ran a tail on the sequansd.log file, again found by xda / google searches. Here is where I have no idea what is supposed to happen. Here is the tail of the log file. http://pastebin.com/f2jL4MVF and here is a catlog from another attempt. http://pastebin.com/sZ2BiM9g
Here is where it gets odd to me. I changed my realm to clearwire by using ##data#, wimax, realm, clearwire-wmx.net, reboot. Sure enough it connects and gets redirected to the clear.com site. I ran a tail of the sequansd.log file and get basically the exact same things as I got when I ran the tail while on the sprintpcs.com realm. http://pastebin.com/0EU7Qh86
This is where I am stuck right now. Thanks for reading this far and sorry for the novel. Hopefully I gave enough information that this can get resolved and maybe it will help others.
Call Sprint.
I have never had this problem last this long, but I have had problems connecting to 4g before. MikFroyo 4.2 and Myn rls4 both had connection issues but it was usually a simple reboot before it was fixed.
I honestly have no clue. If your Mac Addy is fine and your RSA keys are there, then this is seriously a conundrum.
I'd suggest dropping your phone off a 3 story building and getting a replacement. That's just me though.
I called Sprint and went through about 5 techs. They ended up saying they don't know what is going on and that they cant see any errors on the tower I am connecting to. They set up an appointment for me to go into a local store.

Hi guys,
I do not know what the versions are and their compatibility issues are or pre-requisite issues.
To be frank enough, all I wanted was everything working on my phone.
1. Calling. - Made a call t overify
2. SMS - workingas well
3. MMS - took a picture of mine as per the suggestion of klown80 and sent it to my own phone number. voila It came. MMS also working
4. 3G - I see the 3G button on the top of the screen constantly.
I checked speedtest.net and I'm getting around 1.4 mbps on an average which is ok.
5. Guess what - WiFi Tether - This is also working. It is only 1.5 mbps speed when I connect to my phone's internet. But that is ok when You do not have any internet and You have this wifi tether and You are able to connect to internet at 1.5 MBps it is OK for me.
But I have a few questions here.
1. I'm unable to call 611 from my HTC EVO 4G. Is there anything that I need to know/do on my HTC EVO 4G to get my 611 working after the flashing thing is done?
2. How to do USB Tethering ( Although not compulsory since I have wifi tether already working on my HTC EVO 4G )
3. What is the Limit of Data at 3G speed by Boost. Even though they say unlimited, it kind of sucks after 1 or 2 or something GB. What is it ?
4. Guys, I need Chrome Browser and I cannot do it in my 2.2 or 2.3 Android. So I need 4.0+ Android. So can You please guide me where or how I can download/get/install/boot from a zip the 4.0 Android so that I can download Chrome browser.
5. Guys anyone of You have seen the speed of Sprint's WiMAX. As per my reasearch goes
HSPA+ ( GSM - AT&T , T-Mobile - of Course T-Mobile's 4G means HSPA+ but not LTE and thats why they do not advertise LTE anywhere only 4G ) ----------- which is also called as 3.5 G in terms of speed comparison between 3G and LTE( if You consider LTE as true 4G speeds
WiMAX ( CDMA - Sprint, Verizon - Although Verizn has more LTE Coverage than all the other carriers combined and the fact that LTE is really faster, do any of You guys have any idea about the Sprint WiMAX Speed, Coverage?
If anyone was able to try the 4G/WiMAX of Sprint, what is the speed that You are getting?
6. Because Boost also entered the so called 4G Race, and Boost bringing all of the Nextel Towers down in another 3-4 months( I was using iDEN Phone earlier ). its time to see how good the Boost/Sprint 4G/WiMAX coverage is and if You are in the coverage area how much speed are You getting?
7. As per my research goes on, for getting a 4G/WiMAX speed, I need to get a 4G capable phone as my donor, so that I can use that phone as my Donor Phone for my Samsung Galaxy SIII. So I want to know what is the speed of 4G/WiMAX?
7. Last but not the least, Is there any way that any one can look at my phone's details below and let me know, how to get the latest, baseband, radio, something, something blah blah, . But ultimately, I get everything working just like I have now on my phone and also I should be able to download Chrome Browser.
But my BootLoader ( klown80 ) screen says :
Revolutionary ( in pink background )
SUPERSONIC EVT2-3 SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT-6.16.1002
MICROP-041f
TOUCH PANEL-AMTELC03_16ac
RADIO-2.15.00.05.02
Mar 8 2011,17:02:15
So what is that I migh have a problem with, or what is that I should do to download Chrome on my HTC EVO 4G.
Thanks a lot guys for all the help and You have a great day ahead.
Thanks,
A J.

Hopefully I was able to answer some of your questions in the PM. I'm sure others will chime in, as well.

Holy Text Walls batman!...well i'll answer what I can, using the same numbering you used:
1. the 611 thing may be related to the sprint network; never used them before. Much like aosp roms, though ## features only work on sprint roms
2. usb tethering....download an app from the market, or use the native setting if your rom comes with one, then simply plug into the pc.
3. idk...but if you're getting 1.5-2mb on 3G, don't be looking to get any better, best you can get there.
4. you're gona need ics 4.x+ to get chrome browser. you'll have to flash an ics rom, or use firefox mobile; a good alternative.
5. on sprint's lte, i've seen around 25mb from my friends in lte areas.
6. idk...and idk if you will get 4G on boosts network; i don't think so, but i could....marginally, be wrong.
7. 4g vs lte speeds...completely different...you may get 15mb down on 4g vs 26mb on lte.
7. nothing really to do, besides radio. In a previous pm i sent you instructions on how to do with, with the thread,
HTC EVO 4G to Boost Mobile
Thanks guys,
1. I'm now in a confusion. Sometimes I'm connecting to 611. Sometimes I'm unable to connect to 611 and it throws me some error code at the end before the call getting disconnected.
Will try to update about this problem, after trying at different times and different occasions.
I'm also trying to get some more information on how to update my baseband and radio and mainly Android OS.
Is there any thread which any one could point me to so that I can update my Android OS and download chrome.
Thanks a lot for the support guys.
There isn't any one particular thread I can think of as far as updating your OS. Really, you can go to the Development section and look at some of the stickies for info. You can also read through the different ROM threads and see which one suits you best. Biggest thing to keep in mind is that Gingerbread ROM's tend to be the most fully-functional, whereas ICS or JB ROM's don't have working 4G, FFC (Front-Facing Camera) and other issues. As far as Chrome goes, I've never used it on my phone so I can't help you there.
Edit: Here's a link to help you. Also, check the other link I posted above as far as updating your radio. Be careful flashing the radio, as it can be a sure-fire way to brick your device if you screw something up. Just make sure you have a good charge on your battery and be patient. Some people say the radio update can take a few minutes-mine didn't take long, but it can. Don't pull the battery in the middle of the update thinking something has gone wrong.

Well I'm not gone re-invent the wheel, though a good portion of what he said here is true; especially on the radio. When it updates, generally takes 30s...but if it dies or you do a battery pull, 90% chance of bricking.
And as far as flashing a rom, all the threads tell you, 'how to install my rom.'
Generally: backup previous rom in recovery > do a full wipe > flash rom > flash gapps [if its an aosp rom] > reboot.
The only thing you need to look for is if the rom has a2sd built in [will say in the OP], and if it does, you will need to partition your sd card, otherwise the rom won't boot up.

+1 on Firefox. It is getting sooooooo much better with every release! I remember when it was a joke. Not any more. I've been a faithful Opera user 'till now (and I'm not yet 100% ready to switch) but Firefox has grown by leaps and bounds. I think I can state without reservation that it is a fantastic option for Android users now.
Noob post incoming. I did my best to search around and didn't find much. Hate creating a new thread but was locked out from posting in CM dev thread for obvious reasons. Not too experienced in the world of root, so forgive my ignorance. This will hopefully be a quick question:
I've tried running the CM nightlies for the last two days on my T-Mobile M8, and the only big problem is a complete lack of cell data. It displays that I have bars, and while it cuts in and out often (which I expect), I can't get a drop of data to go through. Even at full bars.
I've seen a few people mention connection issues, but didn't see anyone saying anything about a complete lack of cell data. I'd normally just chalk it up to being a nightly build issue, but since I can't find it mentioned elsewhere, I'm wondering if maybe I'm just doing something wrong. If not, no worries, but I'd be stoked if I can run it as a daily at the moment.
Anyone have any advice on what I might be doing wrong, or how I can resolve it?
Edit:
Chrome itself displays error that "Wi-Fi and mobile data are turned off" when only wifi is turned off.
I just tested calling and SMS and both are working with Wi-Fi off. So obviously I'm maintaining some type of radio connection.
Thanks a ton in advance!
New nightly. Same problems.
Bump.
@thefunkyprimer
I just got your PM. Unfortunately I know nothing about T-Mobile and/or why you would be having the issues. What have you tried? Switching APNs? Switching from 3G to 4G? I also haven't run CM longer than five minutes in a couple years. So I'm not much use in terms of running it personally.
Try my ROM and see if data works for you. That's pretty much all I got for you at the moment. But if you did try my ROM and data works, that might be a starting point. Make sure to fully wipe your device prior to flashing.
