Hi, sorry for posting this, but after searching for a long while, I couldn't find the thread that contained a list of all the radio versions and their compatibility with the various regions.
What I am looking for is the best radio for AT&T for use in NYC Metro area in USA.
Also the same for T-Mobile as well.

Lets keep this thread going for a while. I just shifted from 1.54.30.10 to 1.48.00.00. The 1.48.00.00 is a good ATT radio.
Status on Radio : 1.47.30.10
After installing this radio. I've tried it out on my ATT 8525 (with no data) so all the 3G and other data settings were removed and turned off.
The call quality is better. Sorry I dont remember what was the previous radio version that was on the phone. I guess whatever came with Schaps 4.31.
Still using Schaps 4.31. Only thing to say is.. dont know if it's OS related or Radio related is. In one call after clicking on disconnect the phone still shows .. connecting like as if I am still dialing the call.
Had to do a reset to restart the phone to operate the phone call feature again.

Usually is best to reflash the ROM after flashing radio. Also try not flashing radio too often as it can lead to a brick, if you want to flash to a big storage best to flash a stripped ROm from Veyka's 4 shared so you don't update radio.
Most ROMs if not all here don't include radio. Except one from one of the noob chef a while back.
The best radio for me by far in New Jersey and went to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina is 1.56.70.11. I have had this radio for quite some time now.
1.47.30.10 works best for me in LA

Flashed the new radio ROM and all seemed to be working well. However, my phone cannot make a data connection via G/3G - it just keeps saying 'connecting'. Have now flashed between 1.38.00.10 and 1.40.30.00 three times back and forth with the same outcome - no data connection established with 1.40 but connects immediately with 1.38.
I suggest Orange UK customers keep clear of this radio ROM
This belongs in the WM6 forum why? It should be in the Upgrading forum.
I Upgrade my tytn is R.S.A.(South Africa) I 'm in the MTN networks ,I'm using Duttys rom and I have not problem with the radio rom 1.40.30.00, actually I think is the best so far for voice and data connection.

Am using it fine in London.
Funny how radio 1.40 is from a cingular rom, but I am having the same issue with cingular, The data connection will just randomly drop and not reconnect, turning radio off and back on doesnt fix it I end up having to soft reset.
well i've been on 1.40 for about 24 hours now and although no major issues, I am sure that the signal is not as strong as 1.38.00.10 although I reckon the battery life is better. it did look initially when I upgraded that it wasn't going to connect to 3G but it was just a fairly brief delay. I would also say that it is generally slower to connect after soft reset than previous radios... but this is just first impressions. it did allow my internet calling over 3G however which I couldn't get running on 1.38. this is probably just fluke!
Am using it fine in London.

as most posts seem to be heading these days, at least they dont know about the secret "bogun" aussie roms yet....
aussie "bogun" roms will never be released publicly, as they can only be handled by seriously elite, and be apreciated by those who understand "VB"
OK! i've been searching and searching but i did not get a direct answer. So i have decided to put up this thread for someone to help me.
I have the 8525. I've gone from the WM5 to the WM6, i upgraded from the AT&T Rom to the cooked roms now. But i see that i do not get enough bars on my phone. Initially i thought it was my location.
But recently i switched to my older phone (which is the Tmobile Dash unlocked) and i see that i have full bars ... on the phone in the same location.
So i know that it's the phone.
How do i go about solving this problem.
would the RADIO versions help... for example changing the RADIO on my phone. if so which one would you recommend.
Thanks in advance xda developers members.
*** update ****
After posting, i decided to search for the orignial ROM from ATT and i found it.
I reflashed my phone w/ the ROM. the only reason i don't like the original ROM is because of the unnecessary stuff that comes with it.
But i see full bars now.
So what are some of the recommended ROM's here. I have the new ATT (cingular) and all is well except w/ the recent ROM's i was getting really bad reception. and like 2 to 3 bars.
So any suggestions will be welcomed for sure.
try a new radio
who is ur service with ? and where you from
that will help us give you some answers
Not to mention that 3 bars on my phone may not be as loud as 1 bar in yours. More important is how it sounds and how you sound....
1 bar a good reception
OK!... just to point out.
I reflashed w/ the ATT original rom but no luck.
Once i had full bars, it went down to like 2 or 3
But as mentioned one's 1 bar may be as loud as 3 bars on anothers.
I guess that was the problem with mine. I used to get like 2 or 3 bars, but i did have good reception. But i would notice that my calls would get disconnected.
So that is my concern, i realize now that i can have 2 or 3 bars and have good call quality. But i do get calls that get disconnected. Didn't really have that problem before.
I live in NJ
I have Cingular (ATT) service.
Currently i've flashed the original RUU from HTC for the 8525
lets see how that works.
But as far as the bar situation or the dropped calls, would that be a hard ware problem or a soft ware problem?
Also would it be the ROM or the Radio?
thanks in advance.
What radio version are U using? It sounds like a radio issue. A lot of at&t USA people have had call success with radio 1.48. But, others have worked also.
im in central nj, and im using 1.51 or whatever the latest one is, and i have no problems, its all about the same for me.
I live west coast and use 1.50. I seem to always see 1.48 and 1.50 recognized as the best all around. But u may also try 1.51; It seems hit or miss, but if it works it looks like it works real good.
This happened to me when I changed to another radio for the first time.
You need to go into your band selection, and chose it manually. After doing ths, you should be able to soft-reset and set it back to auto, and it should work.
Phone > Options > Band
Select whatever your provider is. Reset, then choose auto again.
I have no idea why, but this fixed my issues.
Hi all,
I've got a problem and can't get my head around it!
I upgraded to the offical Tmobile (UK) WM6, and whilst I love it (much more stable) I just can not connect to the Web 'n' Walk service via 3G. I have no problems on GPRS, and I have no problems with texting and making calls on 3G. Can anyone offer any help?
I've tried all the operator settings available from this group, but haven't tried a different radio rom yet - I'm still on 1.50.
Another thing I have noticed is that if someone sends me a MMS, I get a pop up box saying I have to close the current connection and then download it. This didn't happen before on WM5. If I go back on the net after downloading a MMS, then I get the "connecting" pop up showing again.
Any help much appreciated!
Regards,
Towser

Hi. Yeah I flashed to WM6 (3.60.110.4), and the radio rom that came with it is 1.50.00.00. It's an offical TMobile UK rom. Will try another radio rom, but not sure if that'll work as 3G works for phone calls and texting, but no surfing.
Cheers

Firstly make sure your settings are ok, use the network wizard i have attached.
Secondly the radio you are using SHOULD be fine however running the tests (in my signature) i found that some radios between 1.40 and 1.54 seem to hinder 3G performance (atleast on my network anyway).
Try 1.47.30.10 and see if that helps?
P.S: your radio version isnt a WM5.0 radio as said above....totally incorrect.
Thanks for the suggestions mrvanx, i'll give the cab file a go. I'm working nights this week, so time is scarce, but i'll give the radio rom a go soon. I spent half the night last night reading up on relatively good roms for TMobile UK, but I left the list I compiled in work! (The other half of the shift involved watching a boxing match between Calzaghe and Hopkins... he he!)
Cheers

Well I ran the cab file and I found I could surf the web via 3G, but not brilliantly, so I've flashed the radio rom to the one you said and it's a lot better!

Had the same issue with several Radio ROMs which I have been toying around with. Sometimes 3G worked intermittently, sometimes not at all.
Now I am back at version 1.47.30.10 and 3G works again and all the time too. And the GSM reception and the battery life with this version is OK too. I suggest you try some Hermes Radio ROMs too to find out which one works for you.
Oh, and don't forget to enable HSDPA and then reboot via HTweakC 2.1b or another tool.

Thanks for the tips there - I'm now running Schap's WM6 4.30 rom and the 1.47.30.10 radio rom, and i'm back to sqare 1 with 3G reception at work! Even the GPRS seems slower. So i'll try a few radio roms. Only showing 2 bars in work - normally 3. Few freezes with Schaps rom, so might have a try at some others. It could even be TMobile issues in my area. I've got the HSDPA enabled too.
Thanks for your input.
i have gave up on the location feature i have tried everything and it just seems that it just not working here in San Juan, Puerto Rico for some reason it use to work before but apparently not any more if any one know what else can i do let me know, things i have tried:
1. different radio
2. use task29 before flashing
3. go back to original shipped ROM and flash a custom rom without using task29
4. lot of registry hacks related to location settings
5. different agps settings
...... any other suggestions???
You are not alone with this problem, see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=6118508 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=662178
So it seems to be a wider problem :-(
I wrote to HTC support 3 times in last 2 weeks about this problem, but till now no response from them. Maybe you should also send a question to HTC about this issue.
any one with a new solution?
I wrote to HTC support but without any reasonable answer or solution :-(. Maybe you should do the same and everybody who has such a problem. that should be a way to create some pressure on HTC.
Yeah I had this problem too... 3 things... Find the "QuickGPS" update... settings > location settings... htc location service (checked) and turned on, google location service turned on.
then if all else fails try this .cab from this thread on HTCPedia
http://htcpedia.com/forum/showthread.php?t=888
This will usually get the weather working which is a sure sign GPS is working!

So I am not sure how to turn on google location service. So, I don't know if that is still causing me to not update location.
I did install your cab to main memory and soft reset the phone, but I had no luck.
I am running an Energy 23557 Sense 2.5 cookie home tab Apr 14 Rom. Please, please help. I have seen this my location work 1 time. I have absolutely no idea how it did and cannot get it to do it again, any help is GREATLY appreciated.
Update
I am a moron, I have been avoiding flashing a new radio, cause I am weird when it comes to things I haven't tried before, but now my location works.
I flashed the 4.49.25.57 radio for T-Mobile and now my location updates perfectly. Thanks to all that have put up posts on this site.
Below is the link for the page that shows all the newer radios. After much thought and listening to others who have flashed new radios. Everyone needs to do this. The stock radios SUCK.

Are you still running the original tmobile 6.1 ROM? I certainly understand if you are (I only recently stepped to 6.5 myself)...but the .57 radio is the one that comes standard on the tmo 6.5 upgrade, so most tmo users probably have it already. However, I've heard of the .57 giving the same improvements to Tilt2 and custom ROM users as well...so for any GSM users wanting to try other radios, that is proably the best one to start with.
Yes Sir

Did you happen to notice any improvement in your GPS reception after you flashed the new radio? I'm suspecting that the reason the new radio cleared up the my location issue is because of better GPS performance.

I noticed a dramatic improvement. I don't have the lag behind issue. Not that it was much when driving, but now it's basically non existant. My google maps, bing, trapster, weather radar, all of them find my gps signal 100 times faster than before. It's truly amazing to me how much difference a new radio makes.

I'm glad it's made such an improvement all around for you, that rocks!
You may have seen it already, but make sure you check out my thread about the cab I found to fine-tune GPS for tmo users. It sounds like you may have it dialed in ok already, but this is just one more way to help get optiumum results
I think I found the sollution for this problem.
1: Go to settings tab
2: Go to more
3 Go to connections
4: Click on connections
5: Click on excisting connections
6: click on edit
7: Click next
8: Delete the name of your portal (portalmmm or something like that, it ends with mmm, thats what i remembered)
9: click next
10: click finish.
Now just update your gps using quickgps, and if all is well, the gps should work again!
Goodluck!
Right now, I'm running NRG'z latest July 17th MaxSense ROM with radio version 4.48.25.20 and I appear to get better reception than with his previous july 10th ROM
Can the radio you flash improve/worsen your signal?
Regards
Smith
Yes, flashing a new radio can affect your reception, as well as your GPS lock time etc.
That's all I needed to know, thanks for the quick reply!
Regards
Smith
New question:
I installed the radio version in my sig, and now I get sporadic reception. Meaning, I will have full bars one moment, then no bars the next.
Any reason for this?
Sounds odd, could just be a temporary problem with the cell masts in your area. If it persists, try flashing a different radio ?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=549939
Yeah it's really weird. I will literally have full service, both phone and data, and then none.
How long do you think I should leave a radio flashed and experiment with it before I flash a new one?
PS: thanks for the move, wasn't sure if I was in the right section.
did u switch to radio ver 4.49.25.91? is it workin for that at&t tilt 2?
Is there a way to see what ver of stock radio i got on here before i flash? and is there a way to get it off the phone? thanks

It works better than my POS stock ROM by att.
And to check your settings and your radio version, go to settings (within Sense, not start menu) phone information, software information, radio. Bam.
Anyways, back on track, what is with the sporadic issue it's really upsetting! Perfect service, then a dropped call. WTF
