your phone is not rooted i think.
remove battery.
insert battery again.
press volume down + power button
and you will see hboot menu.
try to factory reset your phone.

root? or unlock first?
do i need to root it before i unlock it?
i already did "clear storage" but it didn't work
i want to return at least to stock rom

first thing you need unlocked bootloader to flash anything like recovery and all..
after unlocking bootloader u can flash roms and all & also root ur phone..
since if never root your phone..stock rom still in ur phone..nothing changed.
so you just need to factory reset via hboot menu..
if you wana root your phone..
unlock bootloader via htcdev and use htcsupertool..
then you can flash cwm recovery via hboot and also then you can flash stock rom too..if your phn still stuck at htc logo..
and also if u nvr root phn u cn directly go to service center they cn flash stock rom easily and that ll solve ur prob fast

Thanks for the advice.
I tried unlocking it using htcdev but it didnt work
Europe RUU works but it did not update the hboot
Other RUU gives me "Error 191"
Proceed to getting the token but it gives me a command error

hmm what is ur software version 2.13 or 2.26 because in htcdev if you have 2.13 you have to download file or if 2.26 you dont have to.
and second without unlocking bootloader ruu won't work.
if you have unlocked bootloader+cwm recovery then you can flash any ruu.

so after days of searching and trying i still cant revive my wfs
so far what i've done
> download and tried different ruu from shippedroms > gives me error 131
> i tried the wfs all in one toolkit > when i try to get token id i get a command error
> ruu from htcdev gives me an error 191
> when i try to flash images (hboot, system, recovery) > give a checksum or something like that error
^^ i think this because im not rooted or boot loader unlocked
i haven't tried creating a gold card using it and that would be my next step
my question is can i try making it using another phone (a xperia x10 mini)?
or do i need another wfs?

With goldcard you can flash any ruu but still im confused about your phone version.
Its marvel(GSM) OR marvelc(CDMA)?
But for using goldcard you need two things:
Bootloader unlocked
Cwm recovery

Nopes..sony and htc are different.if you want to create goldcard you need your phone ,sdcard and computer.
Because sdcard uses as copy CID.and you cnt use x10 mini goldcard.
But still you needs unlocked bootloader and cwm recovery to use bl-tool..then you can flash any ruu..
Dnt compare both phone.they are different..
First you need to unlocked ur phone..goldcard and all things comes later if you your phone is bricked and you need stock rom, update radio etc.
EDIT:
first of all you need to root your phone, your bootloader is not updated so you need to update is via htcdev.and then root it.still htcdev not working.i have no idea how to unlock it.

You just want to run stock ROM?? If yes go to service center they will do it for you..

[Q] One X - can´t update to JB. All ICS works.

Hello,
Here´s the problem.
I have here a HTC One X, engineer model. (fully factory unlocked)
The problem is that he has 2.17.401.2 and works OK. But can´t upgrade to any version above.
As he came:
Bootloader Unlocked
Model : ENDEAVORU XC Ship S-Off RH
CID : HTC__001
Hboot - 1.12.0000
CPLD - None
MICROP - None
Radio -
eMMC-bootmode : disabled
CPU-bootmode : disabled
HW Secure boot : disabled
Modem PATH : Off
Tried to update by RUU to 3.14.401.31 (I believe it´s the latest official), but an error came along about image error.
So I manually, updated the HBoot to 1.39.0000, and the RUU update now get´s complete, but the phone restart few seconds after power on. And recovery get´s the same restart cycle.
So, I update to RUU 2.17.401.2 and everything works again.
Changed the CID to 1111111 (supercid)
Flashed again the 3.14 and now he is at this point:
Code:
C:\Fastboot>fastboot getvar all
INFOversion: 0.5a
INFOversion-bootloader: 1.39.0000
INFOversion-baseband: 5.1204.162.29
INFOversion-cpld: None
INFOversion-microp: None
INFOversion-main: 3.14.401.31
INFOserialno: HT21LWxxxxx
INFOimei: 35918xxxxxxxx
INFOproduct: endeavoru
INFOplatform: HBOOT-T30S
INFOmodelid: PJ461****
INFOcidnum: 11111111
INFObattery-status: good
INFObattery-voltage: 3873mV
INFOdevpower: 60
INFOpartition-layout: None
INFOsecurity: off
INFObuild-mode: SHIP
INFOboot-mode: FASTBOOT
INFOcommitno-bootloader: None
INFOhbootpreupdate: 2
INFOgencheckpt: 0
all: Done!
Code:
C:\Fastboot>fastboot getvar version-main
version-main: 2.17.401.2
But at any time, I can downgrade to 2.17 or 1.29 and make it work.
BTW, I also tried other methods... when on 2.17, tried to update by CWM with zip file. Relocked the bootloader, unlocked it again... Tried to restore a nandroid backup from a 3.14.** working unit... but all ended in a restart loop. So always came back to 2.17 and get it working.
I think the problem in this unit remains here:
Code:
INFOmodelid: PJ461****
Should be PJ46100... or PJ4610000
If I try to write it on fastboot
Code:
fastboot oem writemid PJ46100
Command error !!!
Not sure if write model ID is supported on this unit.
Any way of writting the model id? or solve the main issue of not updating to 3.14?
Thank you
The model id was fine, what is the name of the files are you trying to flash and what command you used ?

I am not sure for engineer version, but did you try to do steps like for "normal" One x when you do RUU flash! Need to lock bootloader and in win based systems with administrator control run RUU as administrator, and with phone in fastoboot mode.. I know that's you phone have unlock bootloader and S-Off but try..
And for use of nandroid backup that you mention did you try after flashing backup flash boot.img also..
link to firmware for your CID : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1957376, and link for CID match software:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2189048

Hi Drug_Store,
I have same problem. not able to upgrade to JB.
hboot 1.12. Super CID. S-Off. Ver: 2.17.401.2.
Tried all possible things. still no use., boot loop.
Are you able to flash any JB rom apart from RD-MIUI?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1817633
Super CID, not able to upgrade to JB
mods, any inputs on the above?
Having the same issue
I'm having the same issue.
My phone is currently at RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_S_HTC_Europe_2.17.401.2_Radio_2.1204.135.20_release_274900
but if I try to update it with RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_JB_45_S_HTC_Europe_3.14.401.31_R_Radio_5.1204.162.29_release_302015_signed
OTA will download the file fine and wipe the phone, then in the recovery menu (stock) it will reboot after 10 seconds of "installing".
All other RUU's or manual flashes fail and end up in a boot loop.

Help to find original RUU for HTC One X

Hello all.
A friend of mine has recently asked me for advice about how to RMA his phone due to some serious hardware fault (WiFi network not functioning and lower screen buttons not responding from time to time). It is a second-hand phone, and he has boot unlocked and cyanogenmod installed in it.
I have read that, among the conditions to get a successful RMA from HTC, it is needed to send the phone with the boot locked and an original RUU installed on it.
I have get both the CID and RUU needed through the fastboot command prompt and I would need to find the RUU to match these parameters:
RUU: 3.18.401.1
CID: HTC_203
I can only find either the RUU 3.18.401.1 but for different CIDs, or an older RUU (3.14) matching the area code (401) and CID (HTC_203). I have also read that one cannot flash an older RUU on the phone. Will it brick it?
I have to choose to flash one of this RUUs:
3.18.401.1 CID HTC__032
3.18.401.1 CID HTC__001
3.18.401.1 CID HTC__E11
3.18.401.1 CID HTC__405
Neither of them matches the CID on the phone.
3.14.401.31 CID HTC__203
Or this. This is the newest RUU matching the CID, but is it older than the one originally flashed on the phone.
Could I get any help?
Thanks so much in advance!
PD: Sorry for my English.
You can't run a RUU because there's no ruu for 3.18.401.1 base... You will need to restore this backup:
http://d-h.st/hFn
This is for HTC__E11 but it will work if the base is the same!
PS: Take a backup of the current rom or have a rom.zip in your phone so that if anything goes wrong, you can flash that!

So, I have extracted the recovery.img and flashed it with:
"fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"
Then relocked the bootloader with:
"fastboot oem lock"
But when I was going to flash the RUU following the tutorial, I have realised that it is not in exe mode, it is a rar and I cannot "right click -> run as administrator" as the tutorial says.
Is there any way I can flash the original RUU to the phone in fastboot mode? Or an alternative RUU X.XX.401.X in exe format?

That's not a RUU, it's a nandroid backup!
You need to unlock your bootloader, flash this recovery : https://www.dropbox.com/s/p35p0tqf41jbj8b/recovery.img
Then transfer the all the 'files' to /clockworkmod/backup/04-06-2013/. Copy the boot.img to fastboot folder.
flash the boot.img and then go to recovery and wipe everything and then restore the backup!

if you are referring to the one vin4yak gave to you, it is a nandroid backup from another HOX not the RUU. you need to flash it via recovery.
Oh sorry, thanks for the clarification!
I will try it again as soon as I arrive home.
Spook HECDur
I have followed the above steps, but now in the bootloader, it appears a message above:
*** RELOCKED ***
And if I try to do anything, it appears a:
*** SECUTIRY WARNING ***
What could I do? I would need to send it as stock to HTC RMA, and I do not know if they could see that RELOCKED text, it could be suspicious...
I flashed the recovery.img, boot.img and restore the backup (now the phone is at stock ROM, but it is in German :S). What annoys me the most is that RELOCKED message at bootloader.
Thanks again!

Oh, maybe not. I flashed the recovery.img from the dropbox link (it seems to be a modded cwm 6.X recovery), but I did not flash any other after restoring the backup.
It says Endeavoru.
May I need to unlock it again using the HTCDev method?

No need to do the whole process again... You must have the unlock code bin file right?
Use this to unlock your bootloader : fastboot flash unlocktoken unlock_code.bin
If you don't have your unlock code file, you will need to again get it from htcdevi...
Download this stock recovery : https://www.dropbox.com/s/xzshnnuz3jdcodv/stock recovery 3.14.img put it in your fastboot folder and then flash the recovery...
Again relock your bootloader... the security warning must go now? Try these steps and report back

Thanks so much again.
I have followed the steps and the security warning is gone!
Unlock bootloader, flash stock recovery, lock bootloader.
But it says again ***RELOCKED***, is it normal? Could the HTC RMA deny it for this reason?
I have already changed the stock ROM to the native language.
So, the phone is right now, with recovery_stock flashed, stock ROM installed, native language, all set to default (factory reset), but bootloader "relocked", which is the only thing that would differ from a not modified one. Could it be a problem?
Thanks so much again!

Yes, chances are always there of warranty being void with a relocked bootloader!
You have complete stock rom+recovery+bootloader locked... So you have done your best! Send it to HTC and lets hope for the best!
Do keep us posted!

Could this thread work for getting a LOCKED state instead of a RELOCKED one?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2168578
I will try the warranty claim anyway.
I hope that, given it is a hardware fault (Wifi not working from the second month) , a relocked bootloader has nothing to do.

HTC One X Camera Out of Focus after update

Hi,
I read a few threads on XDA as well as on other forums, but none that could address my specific issue. I have an HTC ONE X which was on 4.1.1 (rooted) as it is a phone bought from HK and the seller unlocked it for use in India.
The camera was working perfectly when it was on 4.1.1 and Sense 4, however I gave it to a shop to upgrade it to 4.2.2 and Sense 5. The phone is working perfectly, only issue is that the camera does not focus at all either for close or far objects, so its completely useless. .
The guy who did it says he cannot downgrade it and i am not much experienced in Rooting etc.Attached are the screen shot of my phone's current state (of firmware/kernel) , as i read somewhere that flashing an upgraded kernel fixed a similar issue for one user on XDA.
The phone is out of warranty so cant send it back to HTC.
Also, When i boot the phone by pressing the volume down and power button the screen shows ****UNLOCKED*** at the top
Now i know that it is not expected from the members to completely guide me from a dummies perspective, but if someone can guide me towards a solution , i would be more than willing to read up stuff and learn.
Looking forward to getting support from fellow XDA members as usual

You can install any ruu since u have s-off and supercid. As I have done in my phone, you can go to http://androidruu.com/?developer=Endeavor and DL the last ruu http://androidruu.com/getdownload.p...Radio_5.1204.162.29_release_302015_signed.exe Put the phone in fastboot, make sure the phone is locked or relocked, right click on the ruu file and run it as administrator.

And if you want to flash recovery to install custom rom you need to flash PHILZ 5.x version, because your bootloader version is high and on any other your touch in recovery won't work.

Hi,
So basically if I get it right :
1. Put the phone in Fast boot by pressing the power button and voulume down. .
2. Run the RUU file (.exe) as administrator . .
3. How do make sure phone is locked (or unlocked) and what is this step for ?
Is this like installing official RUU from HTC ? I just want to install/update to a different image as my camera is not working
Reboot in bootloader and it will say on top Locked or unlocked or relocked. To flash ruu phone has to be locked or relocked. Yours I think it is unlocked. You need to relock it. Check tho and see what it says.

Can you just clarify one thing. .loading this RUU is basically like loading an official RUU by HTC ? So for that i basically i have to lock the bootloader again ? It is a reversible process right ?
This is official ruu by HTC. It will downgrade you to 4.1.1 to see if the camera will work again. From there you will get ota to the latest version if u want.

Oh i see. . How do i get to know if its 4.1.1 ? THere are two kind of RUUs..
1. OTA_ENDEAVOR_U_JB_45_S_hTC_Asia_TW_3.14.709.16-2.17.709.7_release_290501b59ldhm19jb48jdy.zip

Try the .708. which matches yours. The first one is OTA.

1. Your bootloader is unlocked, so if you want to flash rom that's good, but if you want to instal ruu you must lock it
2. Flash 5.x version, because on 5.x you won't have problem with touchscreen, i think that 6.x version has touch problem
3. Yeah that's fine
4. Flash custom kernel in recovery, than reboot in bootloader and flash boot.img from kernel.zip via fastboot

Thanks for all the help guys. .with your help i was able to install the custom ROM. However it did not solve the camera issue. .
So i have to now try with 4.1.1 as it was earlier working with this version. .
So I have one doubt :
Before relocking the bootloader and installing stock 4.1.1 RUU as suggested by members here, can i try loading "Clean Rom 4.1.1 Version" on the existing setup ? I mean my phone is on 4.2.2, so can i install a ROM which is based on 4.1.1 ?
Or do you suggest i relock the bootloader and put 4.1.1 only ?
I had the same issue with the camera when i upgraded to the latest version. After a while I noticed that I can make the camera focus nicely when on close shot by knocking the phone. Guess the best way or traditional way of solving problem is still knocking...
Well knocking doesnt help in my case. .
CAn i directly flash a 4.1.1 based custom ROM on a 4.2.2 based custom ROM ?

S-off and cid- 11111111 enabled by default

I have recently bought a new htc one m8 which came with lollipop out of the box and yesterday I noticed that my phone is having s-off enabled and cid - 11111111 by default. I haven't done anything to my phone (no root access and bootloader is locked).... So my question is will I receive OTA updates in future? And is it good to have this options(cid and s-off) enabled by default. Pls help... ?

Hello kkaranjkar,
As long as you got your bootloader locked - and even with an unlocked bootloader - you'll be abled to install al OTA you gonna receive on your One M8. Only question I got: did you in fact by a new phone, or purchase a used one? If it is a used one it is of some importance to have look which ROM/Firmware version you got installed on it, as some sell theire phones to others leaving a before installed custom ROM on it.
You could check that under "Settings > About Phone > Software-Information > Software-Number"

Yes you are right. New firmware will be included with the OTA if you receive one.
Which means I don't have to change my cid from super cid in order to get an update
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
It's not 100% sure, you have to check and make sure that the custom rom isn't incomplete. The 2 main things that are important are :
-The rom has to be factory stock, so no missing standard apps
-you must have the stock recovery and NOT a custom recovery
If the phone does not meet these 2 criteria the ota will fail ! And indeed root and an unlocked bootloader is not important, that will work. So at this point we can not say you are good to go for sure !

I've heard of rare instances of s-off from the factory. But I've never heard of SuperCID (1111111) from the factory. I suspect this is a used and modded phone, returned to stock condition and fraudulently (or at least unwittingly) sold as "new". Or refurbished.

If you want OTA updates, then yes, you need to change the CID to match a known variant. Depends on where you are, but a lot of non-US folks use the WWE (world-wide English) variant.

No, your phone storage will not be erased by changing your CID. (Your CID is literally just a few bytes on a special partition, but you need to be S-off to write it) It might be erased if you use an RUU, depending on how you apply it. The only time phone storage is erased is if you used the bootloader unlock token from HTCdev or you used the Windows based RUU tool.
If you use a Nandroid backup of WWE and switch the CID to match, you will get OTA updates without erasing user data.

S-On, relocked, can't unlock due to no ROM.

Hello,
I was s-on running a custom rom but wanted to go to stock update fw.So i relocked the bootloader, and that blocked me out of recovery and also a working rom. I can't use the unlocktoken as it asks for the unlock flag to be reset, which i cant do as it wont boot into a rom.
I also cannot find an RUU for my current main-version.
Edit:I think a 2.9.710.2 RUU would work, as i'm s-on
Any ideas?

First off, can you boot into download mode and try this? http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-m9/general/hima-stock-rom-collection-htc-one-m9-t3095746
Otherwise, your phone is effectively bricked & there isn't a known workaround so far :/ . In this case it's best that you contact your isp or htc for servicing.
As I can see you need a Vodafone Australian RUU equal or higher than your version-main number.
Unfortunately I could not find one for you.

An RUU will do the job, might not even have to be from the same region, just to get you back up and running.
You should be able to force the device into recovery if you can get to the bootloader.
From the bootloader, i'm sure you could flash a recovery and perhaps even root the device (could be wrong there)
either way there would have been a way out of it.
Yeah so i couldn't get into a recovery as i had twrp running, and i couldnt flash a new one as it was relocked. I couldn't unlock it as i had no rom to boot into to turn the unlock flag. So yeah stuck in the bootloader. It's supposed to be back tomorrow so i'll keep you guys posted.
