Hello. Just went through the rooting, unlocking and flashing JBS to my a100 for the first time. I rebooted the system and now the CyanogenMod screen with the circle loading animation has been going for 20ish minutes. It says it takes about ten in the topic, but is it normal for it to take a bit longer? Just struck me as odd.
Thanks in advance! Sorry for my newness to this stuff.

Gah, I went through and did it again and must have missed one of them the first time.
Sorry, new to this and very curious about learning more. Working now perfectly and I'm loving it. Great work, man. Will kick a donation your way as soon as I can.

is there anyway of going without a splash screen, and just having bootanimation run from the time you turn on phone till desktop pops up??
i have search forums cant find anything, or overlooked it.
As for no splash screen, I don't believe so. If you wanted, you could make a blank one of sort if it bothers you that much.
it doesnt bother me, hell got a custom one installed, i just have one bootanimation that gets cut off cause my phone loads fast, and i dont see whole bootanimation. so a blank one would do the same. but ty

Well if you needed it to be longer, you could try getting a different one, or decreasing the frames per second.
no you can't. the splash is a very basic image, that is executed by the boot.img alone, while the boot.img is loading the system. once the system is (at least partially) loaded, it can start the boot animation. correct me if i'm wrong (probably am) but i think that's how it works. either way, you need a splash.

cool guys thanx for all the responding, i will stick with bootanimation i have. and to get full animation that i wanted i would to increase frames per sec. to see more of the animation instead of decreasing making it slower and seeing less of the animation. but again thanx for your help. glad i joined this forum it has been a big help since rooting my evo

Hi! I tried a lot of roms and I don't consider myself a noob but when I flash maclaws ICS and reboot the screen becomes white (a weird effect) and doesn't boot. It happens in every version (I tried the latest six releases)
I did the usual stuff (cwm5, wipe data, dalvik cache etc) but it doesn't work. I don't know why, any idea? I want to try ICS
The first boot takes a lot of time. max 5 minutes

Wait for 5minutes and see what happens
the Mafia aka KASE ARe For TroLLing
I think it can be risky to wait that much because the effect is very weird. The Samsung logo fades away while the screen becomes white but with darker zones. The first time I thought it was bricked.
I searched a lot but I didn't find anything about this.
That is the new bootlogo (Not boot animation) It took mine 15min to start up just wait

Are u using modified delanoister's kernel? I am doing so.. so it's okay..

Maybe it caused by flashing CWM. Try wipe data/factory reset.

Seriously, you are a noob . Reasons(Learn from them):
1)Wrong section- you put [Q] in the thread title but post it in the themes &apps section.(We have Q&A section or general section )
2)In EVERY ROM there is possibility of first boot taking time.If the animation isn't looping, how could you call it bootloop?
I do not mean to offend you in anyway but please learn and increase your patience- Dev's do a lot of work, XDA is NOT a "Make my phone neat and kewl" place.

First of all, I know I am in the general section when I should be posting in the thread of the current rom I am running. But the forum will not let me, it says I have an insufficient post count to post in a development section which is where thread is located. (I think this is a pretty stupid rule, especially when a person like me who lurks these forums and uses it to find roms to use, and when that lurker needs to find help they cannot post in the appropriate section ; end rant).
Anyway, onto the boot loop problem. My current phone setup is : ParanoidAndroid 1.9.7 for the ROM and Trinity kerenl with 1344Ghz cpu clock and 304Ghz gpu clock.
What is happening is a boot loop at the Google screen. The first time this happened, my on screen navigation keys disappeared and when I tried to reboot my phone it boot looped. To fix it i had to do a clean install (I still have access to recovery when this happens). That was about 4 or 5 days ago, and I was fine up until now. This time the navigation keys didn't disappear, it was just a normal reboot that I did because when i plugged my phone in for the night it didn't display that it was charging, this is a normal thing for me and all it takes is a reboot and it will display charging status. Except this time when I went to reboot it, it boot looped at the Google screen again. I heard that a dirty flash of the rom may help, but I am not sure about this, and I don't want to screw my phone up anymore than it is, other than that I am pretty stuck as far what to do to fix the problem goes.
If more information is needed or if my explanation is unclear just post.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I was actually downloading 1.99 as I was typing that, and I was not aware of a fix for 1.97. What was the fix exactly? If it was for a boot loop problem I will feel like a total moron and sorry for wasting everyone's time.
Its CDMA.

How often is everyone rebooting their phone?? I saw my boot animation once.. The first boot after flashing a rom. Maybe I'm missing something, but it seems like a ridiculous thing to care about

I reboot my phone every morning when flashing the newest CM10 nightly. And I always flash the stock jelly bean animation just because I like having a "pure" Android experience!

With all devices, I reboot maybe three times a week just to refresh. I like to see a custom or nice animation when it's loading. Really I'm trying change my splash screen. Coming from og evo, this must be done.

The great thing about Android is ability to customize. Why leave out the bootanimation?
For someone that is always flashing different roms/updates it is nice to see animation you choose to see. Just another part of the whole theme experience. Personally, I hate the stock animation because there are ones that are so much better and it is so easy to change them.
We all have our likes and dislikes. I flash Roms a lot + power cycle my phone daily. I like seeing different boot animations.

everybody wants to control and be independent. so why not experience that with urban phone even with something that people think meaningless like bootanimation. is that not why ur using a android phone not that out of the box thats what u get deal with it look from apple. just saying android gives us the customization and personalization no other OS would give us!

Rooted Evo dead.
Rooted Evo shift dead.
Rooted Galaxy s3 alive and well!
What's a boot animation?
Just kidding.
Its just another customization available to some ableAndroid users. I changed mine a few times (as a see if I could do it...) I also don't reboot often unless Im flashing a lot, so I never see if often either but when I do, it makes a smile.

I think I'm starting to see a pattern here.
All kidding aside..............
as has been said several times, the ability to customize and make it different.
It's kind of like having a chrome differential cover on a low rider.
Very few people will ever see it, but it is special to the owner because he knows he has it.
one thing to remember... these phones are basically computers and should have a soft reset done every now and then to amke sure that memory has been released back to the system. I usually turn off my phone and pull the battery for 30 seconds once a week. you should also be rebooting your PC about once a week or after running a lot of programs as RAM is volatile memory and anything left in RAM is removed during a reboot.
I have to agree with you on this... Could Care less what the phone did at boot up.. Lol. The faster the better. Some really like though, it's an option, so why not use it if you like it.

It's just one more thing that people love to customize. For those who do have to reboot their phone often, it's nice to have something you actually want to look at. (Some stock boot animations are rather annoying to watch over and over, lol) Personally, I like to have one that is mostly dark so I don't feel like it's wasting precious battery juice on unnessesary bright colors! lo

I flashed my Kindle fire for the first time last night and everything went pretty good. I flash 4.1 JB first and everything worked fine. I then proceeded to flash 4.2.1 and gapps and the only thing I noticed was on start up when the shapes are on there flipping around the graphic is only on the top half of the screen instead of the full screen then right before the lock screen pops up the graphics go full screen. Is this normal or is there something wrong with my flash. I reinstalled it this morning and its the same way.
I also wanted to add that Im new here and that I look forward to hanging out here and learning some new stuff.
Thanks Dave
