JB 4.2.1 install start up screen question - Kindle Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I flashed my Kindle fire for the first time last night and everything went pretty good. I flash 4.1 JB first and everything worked fine. I then proceeded to flash 4.2.1 and gapps and the only thing I noticed was on start up when the shapes are on there flipping around the graphic is only on the top half of the screen instead of the full screen then right before the lock screen pops up the graphics go full screen. Is this normal or is there something wrong with my flash. I reinstalled it this morning and its the same way.
I also wanted to add that Im new here and that I look forward to hanging out here and learning some new stuff.
Thanks Dave

I had that happen also with a clean flash but the ROM was fine, that was the only defect I noticed.

Thanks for the reply guitarman. Everything seems to be functioning fine I was just trying to find out if that start-up graphic glitch was normal on 4.2.1 because it didnt do that for me on 4.1.
Thanks again :good:
Anyone else?

Any of the 4.2.1 Rom build off of the stock AOSP ROM by hashcode is going to have this known problem. See here

Update 0708 [Hackjob] CM10 PARANOID ANDROID FROM SKYROCKET

NOT A DEV. Or anything close by far, just posting here to help noobs like me.
Most credit goes to Gs2usr, as he is the one who built the original PA for the Skyrocket...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1750588
I successfully installed Paranoid Android JB 4.1. from the Att Skyrocket section on my device, and its pretty freaking stable. Its been on
my phone for about a day now with no issues.
Check this out if you dont want to wait for a fully functional camera before release. The current camera in the build
flickers slightly, but its not really a big deal since the pictures save correctly anyways.
Download Skyrocket Paranoid Droid... I personally call it "ParanoidSkyDroid" myself
V7 Up!!
http://d-h.st/tdd
Download their SU zip
http://d-h.st/fOD
Download their Paranoid GAPPS
http://d-h.st/ZTr
Download latest Darkside 666 kernel for CM10 -(Thanks TJD)
https://sourceforge.net/projects/darksidevenom/files/[CM9-AOKP]/?
Download the rotate fix for JB from JPOKeefe (Sorry for the original misspelling)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1244769&d=1344252146
1) Wpe the crap out of your device however way you do it... I personally use TWRP because it
wipes the device properly, and requires less steps. Thats just my preference. I think you can technically use any recovery,
2) INstall Skyrocket Paranoid (Latest version as of 08/7 is V6 I beleive)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1750588
3) Install SU zip
Reboot, sit 10 minutes
4) Reboot into recovery
5) Flash Gapps
6) Reboot
7) Reboot recovery, flash Kernel
8) Reboot, then reboot into recovery again
9) flash Rotate fix
10) Clear Cache, Fix permissions
11) Reboot
12) Waste Profit because your going to be spending a lot of time messing with this ROM
A lot of steps, I know.... but I personally dont mind since I am a flashaholic, and this is a pretty stable ROM the way it sits.
Let me know how it works for you guys, and if you need any help.
Thank you to all the developers that put their work into these mods.. Because without them donating their personal time, we would have
crappy ass TW still.
Screen Shots to follow....
EDIT: BTW, I did not host any of those files... those are direct copy pastes from the original thread, so the original owner of that
mod will get download credit from the respective file server anyway.
Awesome! Can this ROM use themes? I remember the Hercules one would cause problems but wasn't sure about the ROM for SR. Thanks bro

No idea what i messed up.. it rebooted fine every time...looked like it was installing smooth...
.until the last.. stuck on jellbean container forever.. let sit.. no button response.. had to pop the battery to reset and now cant get back into the phone.. it just does the "buzz" thing.. left it on charge a while.. pulled the battery for a while.. and i get nothing.. (i can touch my tongue and i know the batt has power) .. when i plug it into anything it just buzzes every few seconds and zero response when not plugged in.
Man, that's a lot of reboots.

If you are using nontouch touch get into recovery and do a darkside cache wipe and see if that works. Hold volume rocker button and power button until it vibrates and lety go of power but keep holding volume rocker until you are in recovery. Hope it helps.

Hey ssmr2t what theme is that? I have installed the rom and i love it ! But the only problem i have is that the battery percentage % doesnt show at the bottom of the UI.
EDIT - oops i have found a theme called cobalt its pretty nice and it shows battery % ! This rom is great !

Why does everyone seem to care about boot animations?

How often is everyone rebooting their phone?? I saw my boot animation once.. The first boot after flashing a rom. Maybe I'm missing something, but it seems like a ridiculous thing to care about

With all devices, I reboot maybe three times a week just to refresh. I like to see a custom or nice animation when it's loading. Really I'm trying change my splash screen. Coming from og evo, this must be done.

The great thing about Android is ability to customize. Why leave out the bootanimation?
For someone that is always flashing different roms/updates it is nice to see animation you choose to see. Just another part of the whole theme experience. Personally, I hate the stock animation because there are ones that are so much better and it is so easy to change them.
We all have our likes and dislikes. I flash Roms a lot + power cycle my phone daily. I like seeing different boot animations.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
everybody wants to control and be independent. so why not experience that with urban phone even with something that people think meaningless like bootanimation. is that not why ur using a android phone not that out of the box thats what u get deal with it look from apple. just saying android gives us the customization and personalization no other OS would give us!
*
Rooted Evo dead.
Rooted Evo shift dead.
Rooted Galaxy s3 alive and well!
What's a boot animation?
Just kidding.
Its just another customization available to some ableAndroid users. I changed mine a few times (as a see if I could do it...) I also don't reboot often unless Im flashing a lot, so I never see if often either but when I do, it makes a smile.

I think I'm starting to see a pattern here.
All kidding aside..............
as has been said several times, the ability to customize and make it different.
It's kind of like having a chrome differential cover on a low rider.
Very few people will ever see it, but it is special to the owner because he knows he has it.
one thing to remember... these phones are basically computers and should have a soft reset done every now and then to amke sure that memory has been released back to the system. I usually turn off my phone and pull the battery for 30 seconds once a week. you should also be rebooting your PC about once a week or after running a lot of programs as RAM is volatile memory and anything left in RAM is removed during a reboot.
I have to agree with you on this... Could Care less what the phone did at boot up.. Lol. The faster the better. Some really like though, it's an option, so why not use it if you like it.

It's just one more thing that people love to customize. For those who do have to reboot their phone often, it's nice to have something you actually want to look at. (Some stock boot animations are rather annoying to watch over and over, lol) Personally, I like to have one that is mostly dark so I don't feel like it's wasting precious battery juice on unnessesary bright colors! lo

It's an ICS Rom, and an earlier one at that. Not sure when nit was last updated, but embedded videos were, or maybe still are an issues on ICS ROMs, if I remember correctly.
There's probably a fix by now, or a work-around.
Hopefully someone will pop in and hook you up
I will like to know also. That's why I'm stil on cm7. THERE IS NO OTHER ROM WORKING 100% than. Cm7

Jellytime Sosei first boot time?

Hello. Just went through the rooting, unlocking and flashing JBS to my a100 for the first time. I rebooted the system and now the CyanogenMod screen with the circle loading animation has been going for 20ish minutes. It says it takes about ten in the topic, but is it normal for it to take a bit longer? Just struck me as odd.
Thanks in advance! Sorry for my newness to this stuff.

Mic problems on AOKP ROM

So i'm on to like my third GS2 because it seems like i always have bad luck with ROMs or there is common issue that i haven't yet noticed. I am currently not even rooted but i have this itch to just root once again and flash my beloved AOKP that i love dearly. The problem is that every time i flash the ROM everything is fine and smooth for about a month, but then people start telling me that my mic and my end of the call sounds really bad. I always test speech to text and google now and the phone seems to understand and hear me perfectly, but the issue of phone calls remain. I really wanna know if this is a common issue especially with this ROM so that i can stay away from rooting and flashing for good now or if there is a way to fix this or if someone has worked their way around this. Any help or info would be appreciated, thanks!
AOKP to the death bro i feel you on that and do you have the newest radio installed MC6 (baseband) any of the newer ROMs all recommend to use the newest radio but on a side note yes the issue is know but not everyone gets it but ive never actually had that problem every phone acts differently and behave differently not every phone is created equal
Do I need to install the MC6 radio separately? I've had the issue with all my GS2's :/
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
yes just download this and flash it in recovery http://goo.im/devs/Void_Dweller/SGH-T989_UVMC6_radio.zip and see if you have any improvements also what radio are you on now ??
OK thank you. Well like I said in my first post I am unrooted and stock right now. I just want info at my reach in case it happens again because its a stressful situation where all my calls are impossible and I want to be able to fix it right away if it happens

I also used to have an issue with AOKP because when I was in USB mass storage connected to my computer it would either freeze and I would have to reboot the phone or it would just disconnect and not recognize the phone until I rebotted again. Any ideas on this issue? I really wanna get back to AOKP, i just run into a lot of issues somrtimes :/

I flashed original aokp milestone1 from this site: http://aokp.co/devices/hercules and everything is fine and well but i'm having problems with it freezing in usb mode. I treid flashing the radio but it would keep aborting it and not flshing. I will try re-downloading the radio and slim bean rom which was also being aborted and try again. do i need gapps when i flash slimbean as well?
OK so i was able to flash the radio you told me to but it was no use, my side of the phone call sounds like if i was talking through a fan, this is really frustrating now :/ any ideas? I will try flashing slimbean again and keep you posted. thanks for all your help up until now, i appreciate it bro.
OK so i re-downloaded the slimbean rom and also flashed the 4.2.2 slim gapps and i am so happy and satisfied that my phone actually works the way it's supposed to now. I only have two small concerns now that i hope you can help me with.
1. When i connect to my pc my phone only gives me the options to connect as a media player or a camera. It's as if it dosn't even have a usb mass storage option? I also noticed it has no developer section in settings.
2. Everything is small. I know you might know this and it might be normal or default but is there any way to change this and make it normal? Is it something to do with Dpi? It's kinda annoying lol

1a. Mass storage mode had major problems so it was removed for now.
1b. Go to settings/about phone and tap on build number seven times to turn on developer options.
2. Go to settings/interface/general and follow the directions to change your DPI to 240.
