[Q] Phantom home, back and recent apps buttons - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I have a problem with my device (I bought it used, and have only had it a couple of days). Every so often (I don't know how to recreate the problem), the bottom three buttons just start acting is if they are all three being pressed repeatedly. Sometimes it stops if I turn the screen off and back on, and other times I have to reboot the phone.
Has anyone else had this issue? Anyone know how to fix it? I might have to wait for it to happen again, then hope it doesn't stop doing it before I get to the Sprint store.

Navigation button problems... Any1 else having them?

I don't know if it's coincidence, but ever since I upgrade to WM5 and went back to WM2003SE, my navigation button has not worked the same.
For example, a lot of times I can go right, but can't go back left even after multiple presses, and then most of the time the middle or 'Enter' button doesn't do anything. Itz become extremely annoying because I have lost my 4th stylus by now, and I haven't received my new ones yet. Oh, and I can't play MorphGear right anymore.
Is it just hardware? Cuz I first went to ROM v.1.42 and then went to 1.40 to see if it was a problem with the new ROMs, but I still have the same problems. Any one else having these issues, and has any one fixed it??
UPDATE: WTF!! Now it went from bad to worse. Yesterday, when I left my BA at home, once I returned from work I noticed that PIE was constantly opening over and over again. Then some of the buttons wouldn't respond like the POWER to turn it off. The backlight pretty much stayed lit the whole time because it looked like the keys were stuck. I upgraded to WM5 derived from the Himalaya today and now the START menu comes up almost every 5-8 seconds, followed by a real quick succession of multiple "clicks", and my 'Start' button doesn't seem to be responding.
Can anyone help? Has my BA gone to the state of retardation? Is there a way to bring it back??
How did you go with this problem.
Mine is doing similar ever since a low battery problem.
DLC
I am experiencing the same kind of problem... and it happend after upgrade to WM5. But the problem likely to be caused by hardware.
I had problems with my phone opening up the start menu, opening IE, and closing programs immediately after opening them, Of course I had dropped the phone halfway in a cup of ice water, but immediately after tossing it in water (after hanging up, I simply dropped the phone into the cup-holder I have mounted below my stereo which happened to be occupied by a glass of ice-water I placed there without remembering) I shook the water out of the phone, and for about as much as i could stand the heat, I put a hair-dryer to the end of my phone which i pryed open after removing as many screws as i could. After a day of quirky behavior, and a night of having the battery seperated from the phone, my phone is back to its old self with the water-damage seal unnaffected after missing the line of water by just a few milimeters. I suggest going to Settings>Buttons and making every button perform no function at all followed by going to Settings>System>Button Lock and having all keys locked except your power button. Hope this helps!
Having somewhat the same issue. Only the "Down Navigation button" isn't working. Although, I'm still using Windows Mobile 2003 SE. Is there a DIY fix for this?
bump...
any suggestions?
Navigation Up/Down
Mine isn't working either - is this a hardware fault?
trying pressing down a bit harder. coz when i did that for mine, the "down" button works. normal applied pressure as for the rest of the buttons(left/right/up) does not seem to work with the "down" button, but a bit more force would make it work.
this happens to my IIs.. mebbe u can try.
Button problems
After no trauma or dunks in water several of my buttons have gone awry. My green phone button, red phone button and navigation buttons all open contacts. The green phone button activates voice command at the same time that it opens contacts. I've never switched from WM2003SE. I've checked the buttons settings and they are the same as always. Most bizarre of all is that my battery is quickly discharging. I suspect some software process is running hard but don't have any idea where to start to fix this. Soft resets have not helped.
buttons gone crazy
A hard reset fixed the problem but was a typical pain to get everything back going. Sprite backup works great until the first attempt to ActiveSync with your PC.

Power button issues

For the past couple days I've been having issues with my power button. It seems that, for about half the day, the power button will not work at all. I can't bring the screen back up or shut the screen off. Also every now and then the power menu that comes up when you hold the button down would just come up by itself. The other half of the day it seems to work just fine. For now I've just set it up so the screen never turns off, but obviously that drains power and will make me butt-dial everybody. I took it into a Sprint store but of course it started working like 10 mins before I got there so all I got was a "failed to reproduce problem" thing. After much haggling on the phone with them today I convinced them to send me a replacement, although it's backordered. Has anyone else had an issue like this with theirs? I searched around and couldn't find much. Does anyone know a way I can lock the screen without turning it off? That would come in handy while I wait for the replacement.

Hardware Buttons Gone Wild (After Mango)

I have a Samsung Focus, upgraded weeks ago to the official Mango release via AT&T.
Ever since the upgrade, I've noticed a weird recurring problem, where it looks like my back button goes absolutely insane for 5-10 seconds. I could be typing a text, and the phone will start backing out of the messaging center and through my app history until it spontaneously stops a few seconds later. It's happened while I've been browsing in IE and a few other apps.
My hands are nowhere near the capacitive buttons when this happens, so I'm not activating them unknowingly. In fact, I can set my phone down during the period of crazy, and it'll still back through programs on its own. I'm convinced it's the phone registering phantom hardware presses, because each back function is accompanied by the slight vibration that's toggled when you normally tap one of the lower buttons. Except I'm not tapping anything.
Now, this has only happened 3-4 times since Mango was loaded, but it had never occurred prior to that, even when I was running the beta. Still, it's annoying when my phone has a mini-freakout, and I was curious whether anyone else had noticed a similar problem.
I haven't noticed that, but I have noticed that the back button seems to be more sensitive, and sometimes just briefly brushing my finger against it brings up the app switcher.

[Q] HTC Incredible Home button glitching out

I've seen similar threads on other devices but I'm not 100% sure this is the same problem...
My girlfriend's phone has been glitching out massively lately. By glitching out, I mean that it appears as if some invisible force is pressing and holding down the Home button. You can feel the phone vibrate in your hand as if you're pressing the buttons and it brings up the Recently Used Applications menu. If you try to press any other button to escape out of it, the phone doesn't do anything until it finishes with its seizure. Usually if you power it off for a few seconds, it will resolve the issue.
She is running non-rooted and stock. I can't say for sure what version of Android or Sense she's running right now, however I can provide that information when I can receive it from her. She recently dropped her phone that resulted in a shattered screen. I replaced the glass on Saturday and noticed the glitch myself afterwards (which makes me worried that the ribbon cable that controls those buttons was damaged or not properly set), however she tells me that the phone was doing this before she dropped it.
She's not running an application killer (I read that this might be the cause of this problem) and I'm hoping that installing a custom ROM on it will fix the problem. Does anyone else have this problem or know a solution?
Thanks,
KoolKris

[Q] Please help! Random power off won't boot!

Okay I will try to sum this up. My S3 was working fine and everything randomly I noticed issues with battery calibration It would be 100% then I would calibrate it and then unplug and then I'd instantly drop to 85%. Thought It was a battery issue and made a point to get a new one later. Then it kept working for another month or so then It started really screwing up the shutdown menu would randomly pop up and I'd back out of it.
Then randomly 3 seconds later the phone reboots. And it would keep doing that randomly I thought it might be a power button issue. Then as time goes on it got really bad to where it would simply reboot and not make it past the bootloader, It would not "reboot" more like a complete shutdown then I'd have to power it again and have it do the same thing. Seeing how I could not even make it past the bootloader I got a new battery, waited a week for it and then I put it in and the same issue happened. It would not get past the bootloader.
So I kept trying and trying and trying and it finally booted past that. And it stayed on for a whole night. I did everything on it I normally would and it was working great. Then the battery was getting low so I plug it in and was going to calibrate it after it was charged, I go back to it and it's dead again won't get past the bootloader once again. I'm completely out of ideas on how to fix this I pop'd off the button and blew in there and the button seems fine and everything still no change. I also can not get into recovery. It trys and loads but then shuts off. Anyway if anyone has any ideas on what this is or how to fix please help! I need my phone back! Thank you.
I'm running MOAR Lite version.
UPDATE: Took the phone apart and took a close look at the button it looks 100% fine...I saw a video on youtube that requires you to complete tear the button off and it works. But I don't know if the button is my main cause of this issue or if it will actually work. Some says it works, some says it does nothing...Please let me know thanks...
UPDATE 2: It will show that battery with spinning circle in it for like 1 second then turn off again. (When it is plugged in)
That's odd. But when it comes to the power button, dismantling and what not 90% of the time will show 0 issues. It will look perfectly fine when it's not. You playing with the power button I assume were pressing hard and normally to try testing it. It's a common issues on this version of the S3 to have faulty power button and you would need to get it repaired. Odly even slightly atmospheric changes can cause it to act different at different points. Some days it works fine, other days a very slight brushing over can cause it to screw up and trigger a manual shut down (holding for like 10 or 15 seconds).
Assuming that it is the power button, or to try, just do a variation of things to the power button itself. Use your finger nail to jiggle it around with different pressures. During boot if it shuts off, it could be the power button internally stuck, just jiggle it around.
This is all I can think of unless you bring it in to get repaired.
I was encountering the exact same problem. I would try to get into download mode and it would sit at the "Downloading" screen for about 5-7 seconds then the display would go blank. It won't make it into recovery either. Based on the above recommendation I took the whole phone apart and sprayed a lot of compressed air directly on the power button mechanism and the plastic case pressing the button in. I didn't see anything broken with the button when I did that.
It seems to be working now, I can boot into my Rom. Don't know how long this fix will last.
