Ok so for the last 2 days, whenever I get a call and put it to my ear, the screen dims like it's suppose to. Well when i pull it off my ear it doesn't come back on. I press home or lockscreen and nothing. It stays pitched black until the other person hangs up or I pull the battery out. I can't figure out what is causing this. I do have a Ghost Armor screen protector, but its cut out for the speaker, both sensors, and the camera, so I cant see this causing a issue. I have changed it now so Lock Screen ends the call, but that doesn't fix my issue, it just makes it so I can now end the call instead of pulling the battery out if the other person doesnt hang up. Anyone else have this issue?
I know this wont fix the issue but there is a setting in "call settings" where u can assign the power button to hang up

I already listed that I have that call setting on to hang up. Yes stock and rather not have to do a reset unless I absolutely need to, especially since I don't have the time to re-set-up my phone to my liking right now.

This happens when the sensors are dirty. Try cleaning the area. My old phone did this all the time with my ballistics case. I had to ditch the case.

what kind of case do you have on your phone? it your case has plastic covering front edge of the phone, then that will actually trigger the proxiity sensor even though it's not actually covering the proximity sensor. i had to cut a little piece off my case near the proximity sensor to fix that issue. best thing to do is remove the case and see if it behaves normally.

Is there no such thing as a perfect HOX without issues on the screen when you apply pressure on the sides? Has anyone ever sent their phones for repair and had it back perfect?
Normally you won't notice this when operating the phone but say for example you're taking it out of the case or working out the gym and switching music you're definitely gonna apply more pressure and I can't help but feel that it's gonna break apart or cause permanent damage everytime it happens.
Yes happens to mine too, when I use my nail and press on the edge of the glass. It happens to my brothers One X too.
Mine is worse on the upper left side. So you' re just gonna live with the problem?

Completely derogatory reply, and unnecessary.
You're implying that every one who has this fault is squeezing the f**k out of the screen.
This is simply not true.
And lets be bloody honest here, what is the point of a touch screen device that if you put the slightest additional pressure on messes up the screen as though it's a bloody lcd monitor?
Seriously?
Am I supposed to put white gloves on when I use my HTC? Am I not supposed to put it in my pocket, just it case it gets' squeezed.
I'm on my SEVENTH f**king phone, and trust me, I don't have to squeeze the f**k out of it.
I've not come across ANY other phone that does this. ANY!
So STFU claiming you have to squeeze it hard. You don't. It's a f**king design flaw. And I'm sick the the bollocks in having to keep sending my units back. I don't want my TOUCH SCREEN phone to look like it's my f**king LCD Monitor when I'm using it.

No. I'm getting rid now. This is my seventh unit. Absolutely appalling design flaw.
This phone is supposed to last me 2 years. It doesn't feel like it's going to last me 2 minutes.
How do you think that screen is going to hold up after 8 months of being in a pocket.
After 12 months?
After 18 months?
Yellow splodges everywhere because the screen has flexed too much? Having to hold it like a newborn in case it gets damaged even more.
Bollocks to that.
This is my final return.
I'm going to have to go with the S3. I don't like it compared to the HOX, I don't like TouchWiz.
But I much prefer that, then having a messed up screen in 12 months time.
Dude, you need a chill pill.
And stop punching your phone.
Get an S3 if it'll make you feel better, but I can assure you that jabbing instead of touching will net you a similar outcome.

Bah! I got my phone without warranty so the most sensible thing for me to do is sell it now and get a new one hopefully without the issue. I've been asking some friends who have the phone and a lot of them don't have this problem. I really thought that everyone had this problem and just chose to live with it.
I have the same issue - but no problem with it.
At the beginning i had "ghost touches" but after i pressed the screen (left side) a little bit harder they're gone

Has anyone reported it getting worse? Im worried about permanent damage but if it just stays like this then ill save me all the trouble and just keep it
awesome how agressive oliseo is. seriously, the screen is capacitive, what means that you have to touch it, not to press it.
the one x is some milimeters slim and you get a hd display, a quadcore cpu (actually 5 cores but offtopic) and you are trying to tell me that that´s a serious issue that the screen shows ghost if pressed? so, i guess your tft / lcd monitor has this issue too, i´ve got seven tube-monitors before i got my tft and all the other monitors didn't showed that epic-design-failure.
dude. seriously.
As the title says, I spilled water over my phone whilst trying to put on a screen protector. The water didn't get into the back of the phone, just where the screen is. I put it in a bag of rice overnight (and most of yesterday afternoon), but there are still spots on the screen (see attachment). After a quick test, everything seems to work except the trackball click. So I now have several questions:
- What seems to be the problem specifically (there's water damage obviously, but specifically where)?
- Is it more cost-efficient to fix it myself or take it to a shop?
- If I am to fix it myself, are there guides I can follow and are there special tools I need?
Thank you for your help!
The best you should have done was to take out the battery and and probably get it open so the water evaporates......putting it in a rice bag was not the best idea should have keept it somewhere dry with lots of air blowing over so as to take out the water vapour which would build up as the phone warms up your rice bag method has only locked up water vapour in your device and if that comes into contact with any component that could be serious damage get a tech guy to open it up and let all the water dry up keep in mind that if its not open vapour will just lock up an make your screen look bad:banghead:

Thanks for the response. I wasn't aware that the rice bag method isn't for all water-related incidents. So the best thing to do right now is to open it up. Does that mean open it to the internals or just take the battery out and blow a fan over the phone? I hope nothing other than the trackball is affected. I can live without the trackball clicking.
Your phone may still die, I had a water damaged desire z, I dropped in in the toilet, thought I was lucky as I had already flushed lol. After drying for a few days (I unfortunately, like you, left the battery in) I booted it and found the flash was acting crazy. By avoiding using it I thought I was ok, but a day later the flash had formed a short circuit rendering the phone useless, the power button rather than booting the device simply made the flash blink like the cm7 strobe effect. Tried further drying by disassembling. Nothing. Binned. Died a little inside. Bought a galaxy mini. Hated it. Sold galaxy mini and now using Motorola defy, got it cos its water resistant XD, its an OK replacement but I miss my z's better touchscreen, and the keyboard rocked, alas that's why they're so unresistant to water though. Hope yours survives, as the trackball is pretty isolated even if it is shorted it might not do much damage hopefully (flash is near camera, power button and proximity which all lead to the motherboard!) let me know how it goes, good luck!

Oh and I see your earlier question, yes take internals out if possible but carefully to avoid damage, even removing the back to expose the motherboard would be helpful if you don't feel comfortable pulling parts out
Yes all all covers should be out atleast the system board should be as dry as possible cos that's were the trouble is,the track pad uses some kind of optic stuf and could be changed if its removable. If its attached to the system board don't try cos you might brick your phone if your touch screen is good then there should not be a problem, for me I hardly use my track pad. As for it working again I can't assure you of that but open it up it shud work

rice works pretty well pulling out moisture, opening you phone is quite easy if you slightly mechanicaly inclined. you will need a small pry tool (guitar pick should work) and a t5 torx bit. that will get your back case off. there are about a dozen small phillips screws to remove the motherboard and then a few more to get to the digitizer. looks as if the water either seeped in through the front speaker or around the edges of the screen meaning the glue has gone bad.
if your able to fully dry your phone great, but be carefull any moisture left can turn to corrosion quickly.
there is a small ribbon cable that connects your softbutton pad and track to the rest of the phone, if the soft buttons still work but not the track this is most likely what needs to be fixed
if the screen seems unresponsive then you will need to replace the digitzer

I dropped this g2 in the toilet a long time ago. Left in rice for a week and dried completely. Used for a week after that and impurities on the board would not let the phone boot up past bootloader and then it'll shut down. I opened it up and using 99% alcohol and a toothbrush cleaned the motherboard. The phone has worked perfectly ever since. The moisture in the screen eventually goes away after a few weeks. In my case i only have a faint line noticeable from certain angles. You can fix it by simply replacing the LCD.

I would have taken apart my phone if I had a t5 torx bit. Inconveniently, the smallest I have is a t7. I'm going to take it to a repair place tomorrow and see what's gone bad. I'd rather pay the price for repair now than pay for a new phone.

Good, I'm sure you will like the Titanium Grey. I find it more professional looking than the white. The Grey looks sleeker, and less plasticky. Be sure to check the phone thoroughly before leaving the store. To make life easier, when you are in the store, type *#0*# in the dialer and make sure your phone is glitch-free before giving it the OK. The LCD Test is generally used as a Check-list. Don't forget to also check the buttons (Volume, Power, and Home Button) to make sure they are registering properly. Hope you enjoy your new phone.

Lcd test (*#0*#)
First, you will test Red, Green, and Blue, this will help distinguish any pixel anomaly (dead pixel); if there are pixels that are not consistent with that particular color, you know that is stuck/dead pixel. To go through the RGB, press red for example, look for any pixel inconsistencies, then, press the back button, and do the same for the Green, Blue, and Receiver (White).
When you arrive to white, look for dead pixels there, and also check to see if there is any tint (pink or yellow); if there is 'too much' you have the right to refuse.
There is not much you can do in vibration other than check to make sure the vibration on the phone is working, if you are able to get old of dark setting, you can search for any black lines or splotches (if there is too much mess underlying the screen, I would refuse),
In dimming you can check to make sure that the colors are consistent on both sides of the screen,
Mega cam checks to make sure camera is functioning,
Sensor confirms to make sure accelerometer / proximity / barometer/ lights / gyroscope sensor/ magnetic sensors are working, place you finger on the top sensor on front of the phone and the screen will turn green (confirms proximity is working), you can move the phone in your hand and the numbers should change accordingly for the accelerometer, barometer, lights, gyroscope, and magnetic sensor. Swirl your phone in towards you and the magnetic sensor should turn as well (the black circle),
In touch, follow the pattern as displayed on your screen, if all blocks register green, then your display is perfect for touch response,
Sleep will make sure the display turns off,
Speaker confirms that the speaker is working, I
In Subkey--press the volume buttons (up and down), power, and home buttons, the color of the display should change accordingly,
Press front cam to make sure front cam is working,
In LED the notification lights will appear and as you tap the screen the color will change accordingly (you should see red, blue, and green).
Wacom Test--take your Spen out and draw along the pattern, if all works congrats,
In Low Frequency you can go through each set of Hertz just to check whether or not the screen is functioning normally,
Skip Barcode emulator test (as long as your rear mega camera worked, disregard his step),
In Sensor Hub test face the phone down (screen on table) and the sensor should respond PASS.
Remember, you need to press the back button after completing each test in order to do a different test.

Hallo
After I updated to 4.2.2 my screen stopped respond to the touch. but only to touch with the finger and that is allso the "hard buttons", like Back and Menu. if i use the S-pen there is no problem.
I didnt have this problem befor updating, only after.
I have try to "Factory data reset" but that has not help. But it is like there is a "do not respond to finger touch, only to Spen" setting on.
I hope i have explained well enough.

Anyone else have the problem and idea for resolution?
Update: its somehow related to the case I was using. There is some sort of a proximity sensor in the phone and its getting confused and thinking the case cover is closed.
Was able to recreate the problem several times when its IN or even sitting ON the case. But is has never happened when the tablet is OUT of the case.

Does that case have a magnet in it?
There is a "magnetic" sensor on the left side of the Note, when you close the case it will then shut off the note, some cases will even do that when you completely flip the "book" cover.
Hoping this helps

I got my View 20 recently and I'm having a problem with screen unlocking during calls. The speaker is roughly at a 45 degree angle and I think so is the proximity sensor. And it only recognizes objects that are very very close to it. In other words unless I have the phone pressed against my ear (not touching or close to, actually pressed against it) it unlocks the screen during call, the notification panel opens up and I activate things I don't wanna activate... Once just as a test I made a short phone call and I made sure to keep the top of the phone pressed against my ear at all times and somehow it still unlocked the screen and the notification panel was open...
To make things even worse, because the angle is so weird I have to keep the phone lower than I'm used to (or comfortable with) and the bottom of the phone is way below my mouth which is bad too.
It's a real issue and I don't know what I can do to fix it. Please help me.
(And just as a side note I can't believe no one has mentioned this in ANY review - even if the screen doesn't unlock for them, the angle of the speaker is still weird and to hear the sound well you have to hold the phone lower than normally. It IS significant and I have no idea why this hasn't come up in any review or opinion on the internet).

thats exactly i am doing
Any other ideas?
Or maybe I just a defective phone? Could other owners of View 20 say if their phones are fine?
It's not a fault... The sensor is on the top of the device instead of the front/screen so it happens... Poor design choice that's all.
Same problem noticed since day 1, found also no solution yet.
very disappointing.

Yeah, except it's not pointed upwards, it's pointed at a roughly 45 degree angle, so it should still work more or less fine. Maybe less fine than forward-facing sensor but still ok. And I doubt that thousands (millions?) of people who bought that phone experience the same problems and no one has mentioned it yet.
I'm on the second view 20... Sent first one back as I didn't like the warmish tint on the screen... Second one has a much cooler tone... Both do this with calls and my brother also has a view 20 and he has the same issue... Mine was from Amazon and he got his from carphone warehouse.
