Hi all,
Everybody here must know about latest cm10.1 by olddroid right It's great news for our gio. But i have problem and maybe several people here had the same. This rom already has init.d folder but it seems doesn't support cronmod. I have done every thing i can, like flash it (cronmod) through proper flashing method and push it manually to /system /etc /init.d also set it's permission to rwxr-x---. But what i got is bootloop .
It would be great if any body here have the solution. I'm totally noobs but I love to learn :fingers-crossed:
Use link2sd instead of cronmode.
Its fast and bug free.

Did you do "mount system" before you flashed the cronmod scripts?
I'm using the app2sd+ and the int2ext4+ script and they worked really good after I mounted system.
After you flashed it you also have to format sd-ext.

Of course I do mount /system before, if not, i wont got bootloop . But wait a sec, if you already use cronmod, why on earth you also use app2sd+? And if you don't mind, can you attach your screenshot here? I want to see your internal storage and your init.d folder
I'm using the a2sd+ script to move all my apps and my dalvik cache to the external partition. Sorry if you thought that I'm using a different script than cronmod, I meant the cronmod a2sd+ script. My phone still shows a total space of 178 mb but I've got 1 gb on my external partition and as you can see I'm using 500 mb of it. I just ignore that it shows only 178 mb.

Yeah, A2SD+ works quite fine, but I made two small changes:
* /data/app-lib is also moved to /sd-ext. Gives some more free space on /data.
* Mount sd-ext as journalled ext4, more error resilence

I didn't change anything it just worked fine for me from the beginning.
May be I will stick with s2e while waiting for more compatible cronmod :|

You mean int2ext4? Nevertheless, made some changes to the original a2sd+ script, now using ext4 with ordered journalling, moved app-libs, too. Great

That's was very easy, what you should do is pick one of those script (cronmod) and flash it through cwm

You have to mount /system before flashing those script. And to check if your rom support init.d or not, you can go through /system/etc, it should be init.d folder there

Good morning,
I have a question to know which rom should I download, what with a2sd or the other? I have a "partition" sd-ext4 ...
Thank you.
since u have an ext4 sd card partition.....it is recommended u download the one wth a2sd to use that partition as a supplement for internal memory
remember after installing rom with a2sd to do a2sd install (y/n/y)..............

The non a2sd ROM uses INT2EXT automatically and will therefore make use of your ext partition for installing apps.

Hi, I have a problem where the phone only allows me to install about four 3-4mb apps before is says 'storage space is running low'. This has been the case for a long time over many roms.
Tried with and without an 1gb ext4 partition on a 16gb and 32gb memory card. Roms tried include most ICS, JB 4.1 and JB 4.2. Have also tried with a2sd and without. Result: no changes.
Am currently on Nikez's 4.2 roms.
I hope there is a solution...
Thanks

My sd card is currently not partitioned, and i don't really want to re partition it. Is there any way to fix this without partitioning sd card. I have previously tried a similar file to the one you posted, and it allowed more apps to be installed but still not as many as was used to
Edit: Having seen your sig, i read the how to partition guide, and I used the 4ext recovery method. Is it possible to remove and then recreate a partition from that recovery?

MW9.5 is very stable. How did you partition your SD card? Suggest you to wipe everything, re-partition if needed and flash. Everything should be working just fine.
Alternatively, you can try other MW ROMs like the one based on CM or oxygen. They're working perfectly too.

You are probably low on space because you are still on stock hboot.
Nandroid backup and change hboot using fastbout commands, search for guides. There are custom hboots posted in that thread if your search. Or just use something like cm7r2 hboot.
512mb is also quite small, you can use at least 1gb.
Check everything is working by installing another app like diskusage to browse all your partitions.

Roughly how many apps can be installed on data using the 65mb hboot? (without using sd-ext)
If you don't use any a2sd script, fairly few. The dalvik cache will be filling up the internal memory fast.

What if i use a2sd but with n, n, y ?
Would that keep the dalvik on internal (making it faster), but move apks to sd-ext?
Would i then be able to install a decent number of apps (say 50) even though the dalvik is on internal?
Or is there a different script for this purpose?
THanks

Dalvik on internal doesn't make a performance difference. Data on internal does.
http://db.tt/m4sQLDOI
Install this zip from recovery. It moves dalvik and data/app to sd-ext. It will be enough for about 100 apps, without affecting performance at all.

Cool thanks bro for the info & zip!
Why is it that it doesn't affect performance though? Is it to do with read speeds of sd cards being so fast that it doesn't matter?

Because dalvik cache isn't as frequently accessed as data, so it doesn't need great sd-card speeds to be fast.
I had about 200 apps on there with no issue, however it's been a while since I used it so obviously modern apps are bigger.

Well put it this way, my last version of dGB was 18 months ago
So I recently switched back to stock and saw a big difference in gaming performance once it was rooted and debloated. However I could never get Link2SD to see the ext4 partition. It just says "error unable to mount" or something along those lines.
But if I flash an alternate kernel like DoomKernel or Lupus then no issues. I have been using Link2SD for a quite a while now... and no matter how i try it with stock kernel Link2SD just doesnt see or is unable to mount the partition to install the libs needed for it to work.
Anyone give me any suggestions/ideas?
I have followed this quide before and repeatedly now to try and make stock kernel work... same results.
http://www.xperiablog.net/2011/12/12/link2sd-guide-never-worry-about-internal-memory-limits-again/
Anyone? I tried it again and gave it root permisions however it still comes up as "no mount device" Despite it seeing the Fat32 partition, it just wont see the Ext4 partition with stock kernel. But again soon as I flash an alternate kernel... BAM! see it no problem.
Does anyone have any ideas why stock kernel wont see it? Nothing in the tutorial says it has to be a modified kernel. Simply root only.
I dont know, the 2.6 linux kernel should actually support ext4.
Make sure that the format of ur second partition is same that u want to use in link2sd. For example if ur second partition is fat so in link2sd choose fat 16/32. Or maybe u may need to recreate again the second partition.

Make sure to set the partition as primary, not as logical when formating
As I have said I have been using Link2SD for about 8 months now both on my current Xperia PLAY and my old R800x. I am well aware of how to use the software, and the process for setting it up.
Again though everything I try with stock kernel Link2SD will not work even after it gets root access. Now if I switch the stock kernel to say Lupus or DoomKernel it works without a hitch. Otherwise on stock it gives me a error of:

I am stumped. Also just to be clear even on my R800x I was using DoomKernel,

Yeah and thats why I wanted to make it work. I instaleld on a fresh copy of stock ROM, MC4 and it was fluid and smooth.
How about using fat instead ext? Maybe its work.
I remember that i try it on samsung galaxy ace without using any custom kernel.
U can ignore this if is still not working.
I also experience this, but only with stock & non modded kernel. Original kernel just can't support Link2d, Swapper, and can't overclock the CPU frequency.
It's maybe more faster & stable, but.... u know the difference, don't ya?
they will be always pros & con's
