Roughly how many apps can be installed on data using the 65mb hboot? (without using sd-ext)
If you don't use any a2sd script, fairly few. The dalvik cache will be filling up the internal memory fast.

What if i use a2sd but with n, n, y ?
Would that keep the dalvik on internal (making it faster), but move apks to sd-ext?
Would i then be able to install a decent number of apps (say 50) even though the dalvik is on internal?
Or is there a different script for this purpose?
THanks

Dalvik on internal doesn't make a performance difference. Data on internal does.
http://db.tt/m4sQLDOI
Install this zip from recovery. It moves dalvik and data/app to sd-ext. It will be enough for about 100 apps, without affecting performance at all.

Cool thanks bro for the info & zip!
Why is it that it doesn't affect performance though? Is it to do with read speeds of sd cards being so fast that it doesn't matter?

Because dalvik cache isn't as frequently accessed as data, so it doesn't need great sd-card speeds to be fast.
I had about 200 apps on there with no issue, however it's been a while since I used it so obviously modern apps are bigger.

It's amazing. I can't believe people are still finding it! I just thought I'd randomly google it today and found this thread so then I checked out the host stats just now out of curiosity. Over 1500 downloads in the last 3 months! Yeah it makes me feel pretty special actually. I certainly see dGB as an achievment

Try what @abaaaabbbb63 posted to move Dalvik Cache to SD if you need to. Any decent a2sd+ script should work too. I don't have a known working one to hand.

Hello community. Once again asking a question
My phone takes about 2 minutes to load all the apps on the home-screen. It's really tiring and annoying. I seriously mean like 2 minutes, literarily.
I did apps2sd, and followed the guide, and it still takes forever.
How can I fix this??

What launcher are you using?
are u using tha a2ext method from acejoker? Or the built in froyo a2sd? Because the a2xt method can really slow down boot, which is why I stopped using a2ext and instead installed all apps on main memory (main memory has custom mtd partitions for larger data partition)

to clear dalvick cache and not just cache do these steps
go to your recovery
then go to advanced
then clear dalvick cache.
The first boot after wiping will be a LONG time since the cache has to be recreated but that should fix any slow downs or FC's

Hi.
It won t harm ur phone. If you do so advice to wipe cache. Be in mind while rebooting takes much time coz rebuilding dalvik-cache.
Dunno a2sdgui could be a good idea depends ur sdcard speed. If not class10 (mean write speed 10mb/s). Dalvik is often used by system so if bad sdcard performance can reduce you rom performance.

I need some help with increasing my internal storage;
The problem is i am a newfag and kind of no interested in any super roms with awesome tweaks etc. I just want the same 2.3.3 android htc gave us in update with old sense etc but with like a 1gb of memory for apps so what i need to do?
I tried to find something and here is what i think i need to do:
1.Security off
2. Root --> here is a question. Does a root dissapears after i do a factor reset?
3. Now i need to install some kind of custom recovery - dont rly know how
4. Install some rom????
I was reading and trying to understand the difference beetwen the apps2sd data2sd, there were some disscussions that data2sd slows your phone etc. but then someone ofc spoke that's incorrect... There is a lot of contradictions in topics so it's hard for someone new to get to know the topic well.
So know in the end i will just write once again:
I want 2.3.3 htc android from update with everything the way it was but with bigger internal storage. Is that possible?

Ok guys
I did s-off,rooted and know here's the question
What's the difference beetween the partition ext 2,3 and 4? It's related with speed or stability? ^^Do I even have an option to choose which one will I use? I have class 2 card from samsung which came with desire
I also dont exacly know which option i need to choose in my 4.0.1.4 CWM at Partition SD Card. I want like 1gb for apps
Also special thanks to MatDrOiD for quick reply
Different formatting, speed, stability etc.
ClockWorkMod is poor regarding the partitions.
Id your need good recovery, get the RMD Recovery.
Usually roms let user decide what ext he needs, but fire some there are specifications to ext 4 or ext 3.
Read rom requirements.
Swyped from SGS2.

Hi all,
Everybody here must know about latest cm10.1 by olddroid right It's great news for our gio. But i have problem and maybe several people here had the same. This rom already has init.d folder but it seems doesn't support cronmod. I have done every thing i can, like flash it (cronmod) through proper flashing method and push it manually to /system /etc /init.d also set it's permission to rwxr-x---. But what i got is bootloop .
It would be great if any body here have the solution. I'm totally noobs but I love to learn :fingers-crossed:

Did you do "mount system" before you flashed the cronmod scripts?
I'm using the app2sd+ and the int2ext4+ script and they worked really good after I mounted system.
After you flashed it you also have to format sd-ext.

My Desire belongs to my significant other since I bought One X
She is not a demanding user. She browses, reads local news, listens some music, plays some games, uses various messanging softwares.
Battery is important to her.
Eventually, internal memory ran out, so she wants me to help her.
I S-OFFed her phone few days a go (using revolutionary), installed custom recovery (CWM), and rooted it.
I also have read a lot in this forum (because it is rather silent in One X forum these days ), including how to partition SD card and how to set up EXT4 partition (I guess I will use EXT4 recovery for it, although I have downloaded gparted, too).
What I would like to know is:
Is it possible to dedicate EXT4 partition on SD card as extention to internal memory in stock ROM? How can I do that?
How can I delete not needed HTC applications from system and/or data (strange, but SD Maid Pro doesn't work)? What damage can I cause? How much memory can I release that way?
Which ROM I can try, having in mind stability, and battery? Which super lite ROM you would recommend?
Thanks in advance...

Thank you, too...
Both of them look nice. I might even convince her to try.
However, if it doesn't work, what about:
Is it possible to dedicate EXT4 partition on SD card as extention to internal memory in stock ROM?

Also, how reliable are JB ROMs on Desire? Is everything working?

Jb roms just aren't worth it if you need a fully working and reliable phone.
And yes you can use a stock rooted Rom and use a a2sd script.

Here's stock rooted Rom.
Completely stock only real difference is the a2sd

I thought so, also... About JB on Desire.
The one you linked looks really interesting. My favorite at the moment.
For the sake of adventure, I'll try to install a2sd to the one that is on the phone right now, and only after that check other ROMs.
Thanks again! :good:
By the way, how to install a2sd, and where can i find it?
I searched "a2sd", but got links to ROMs back...

One of the most flexible and simple a2sd scripts is mounts2sd. Try it. Move dalvik and app to sd-ext

Okay, thanks for the tip.
But could you help me to find it now?
I love to search on my own, but xda returns ROMs instead.

Unfortunately, I got Low on space message already, while installing standard applications I had before (did factory reset, and SD card partitioning/form
I'm afraid I did something wrong.
To repeat, I am on a stock ROM, S-OFF, rooted. I installed Mount2SD, but probably did something wrong with it.
Was I suppose to "format sd ext", and "mount sd ext"?
EDIT: I did the above fformat/mount. Still the same. Going to some custom ROM now.
EDIT 2: when I open Mount2sd application, in storage section, under "External Data" it says N/A! Why is that?
Attached is the fastboot screen before and after S-OFF. The hboot changed. Is this one good?
I think RSK Sattelite Rosie 8.0 in Aroma said something about stock hboot, which needed to update. This one stuck just after the boot animation.
Installed RSK Special Edition Odexed instead, which seems to be working fine.
Also tried MildWild CM-8.0 JG. It's amazing how small that one is. Didn't like the apperance, though. Looks much like our daughter's ZTE Atlas.
Job done. Case closed.:good:

Great ROM. :good:
Might be occasionally testing others, but this one is just fine for now!
