for the CleanBean rom in the development section (which I can't post to yet), I find no mention of whether the radio has to be flashed after the rom. Is one usually safe to assume you *don't* need to flash a radio if it's not mentioned in the dev's comments? thank you in advance.
Radios aka modems aka baseband are completely separate from roms. You don't need to flash one unless you really want to see if one works better for you. The newest is LJ7 (lj7) LJ looks like a big U lol.

separate in the sense that you can flash one separately, but almost always bundled with the custom rom...
right?

No. ROMs don't flash or change your current modem. If you want to change your modem it must be flashed separate.

No matter what from I flash and its been many lately... I keep finding myself going back to venums hydra rom. Still rocking it! I like paranoid but this one is more stable and I like its customizability better. The only thing its missing is hybrid settings. Period.
I flash, and always end up running Blazer 4.1 again. Ive since stopped flashing roms. Being a flashaholic with this device just isnt fun anymore. We need ICS. We need SOURCE!

yes, every single dev is switching to the gs3. there will be absolutely zero dev work on this device once the gs3 is freely available to all.

Not sure what you are talking about. There is one that you can flash in CWM, and one that you can flash using fastboot...

I just flashed the radio from that Telstra radio thread, i will see how it fairs.
EDIT: now my RIl and baseband dont match! Is it best to match them?

Why not run it the way it is and see if it works for you. There is no perfect combination. Just find something that works for you.

also just tried to install zip from sdcard and it failed and reset my phone to stock, I used a recovery img I took just before I starting trying to resolve this issue tonight. kies says there is no update, can anyone recommend a rom to flash? all I need is root and the latest rom. thanks in advance
The latest rom is MD4. I see you tried updating to MB1. Here's a nice stock rooted rom by freeza. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1910947
Follow installation instructions in thread and you're good to go.

Yeah, just flash the stock rooted. You don't need to take the official update because you'll probably root out afterwards anyway.
You can also flash optionally flash the MD4 firmware (modem and such), it's also listed in freezas thread.
I was on Project X for a while, had a lot of issues. Probably had a bad flash. Most notably my camera/camcorder was.. buggy to say the least. Only worked about 5% of the time. I returned to stock last night and it's amazing how much smoother my phone is. Camera works perfectly. It's like having a brand new phone all over again.
But I am wondering what kind of mods, if any, are available to me at this point? I know most of them require a custom ROM or come with custom ROMS. Just wondering if there are mods available to me if I stay stock?
Most of the touchwiz Roms are based on stock roms with added mods. So whatever mods are included in let's say.. Project X. They'll work perfectly fine in fresh stock Roms. Look in the themes and apps section or look in the OP of the custom Roms. It has links to most mods.

Well I think he's on Odex, which makes a big difference.

Yes and even an Odexed AIO tho I think it's an older version.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2216601
^That is what I used to return to stock. GB28 for Virgin.
Then yes you are Odexed
Check out K.O.'s thread for stock odexed and deodexed..... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=38923705
Just make sure to choose odex...and that you flash an agats kernel 1st

I want to flash my phone to something faster and smoother. I have found some roms that I am interested in however I want to make sure I do not brick my phone.
During the tutorial videos, I keep hearing must have ICS modem instead of Jelly Bean. Currently I have the official GB27 (4.1.2) software on my phone. With that said, do I need to flash my phone to ICS? If so, how do i flash my modem? Do i download the modem and flash it via Odin?
I already have Odin Mobile and custom Roms downloaded. I also download a few clockmods as well.
Let me know if i need to download anything else or it is safe to flash my phone with the current software.
The rom I am considering is Wild for the Night...
Thanks for everything.
Yes you will need an ICS modem for that ROM, you can either flash it in recovery or via Odin on your PC. Mobile Odin will not flash modems in this device... And for future reference, ALL questions and help go in the Q&A section. Also make a nandroid backup before flashing anything.
