I want to flash my phone to something faster and smoother. I have found some roms that I am interested in however I want to make sure I do not brick my phone.
During the tutorial videos, I keep hearing must have ICS modem instead of Jelly Bean. Currently I have the official GB27 (4.1.2) software on my phone. With that said, do I need to flash my phone to ICS? If so, how do i flash my modem? Do i download the modem and flash it via Odin?
I already have Odin Mobile and custom Roms downloaded. I also download a few clockmods as well.
Let me know if i need to download anything else or it is safe to flash my phone with the current software.
The rom I am considering is Wild for the Night...
Thanks for everything.
Yes you will need an ICS modem for that ROM, you can either flash it in recovery or via Odin on your PC. Mobile Odin will not flash modems in this device... And for future reference, ALL questions and help go in the Q&A section. Also make a nandroid backup before flashing anything.

Thanks

There is no FL27, FL24 or FI27 is what you want

I HAVE ONLY TESTED THIS ON MY OWN DEVICE!! I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE IT MAY CAUSE TO YOUR DEVICE OR PERSON.
You should only need this if you have broken your GPS from flashing the epic modem during a simi-stock flash. how ever it should not hurt anything to flash it to a device with a good modem, it may downgrade you to EA24 modem though if you already updated to EB28.
EXTRACT THE MODEM.BIN FROM THE ATTACHED ZIP THEN FLASH MODEM>BIN DIRECTLY, THE ATTACHED ZIP IS NOT CWM FLASHABLE
Ok so this is the modem.bin extracted from the sprinter EA24 flasher that was posted earlier and I used hiemdal to flash it. tested GPS/Data and all is well!
You should be able to flash this with Odin as well.
NOTE: GPS will turn on while in airplane mode but will NOT get a lock. Turning airplane mode off will allow a lock. This is normal even on stock device, just keep that in mind if you use the device for wifi only and in airplane mode.
this just helped me out so much i didnt think i would ever be able to downgrade and then upgrade my tablet after a bad kernel flash thanks it works great now i got the full upgrade to 2.2.1

I need more details to help you, what steps did you do and what was the results of those steps? for instance tell us what exactly you did in Odin and what the output was as well as what your tab started doing. just a side note this is for sprint tabs only.
Edit nevermind. Modem works on DJ30

Hi.
I have an AT&T Nitro with rooted ICS Official.
I tried to install CWM Recovery with ROM Manager to no avail. I always get this screen:

}
I also tried to flash it with ADB but I get the same results!
Phone works OK, but I can't flash custom roms! Now that we have Official Stable CyanogenMOD 9!
Any suggestions?
You're going to have to go through the unbrick guide, downgrade to Gingerbread, install CWM via Rom Manager there, and then if you *really* want LG's ICS, install HO!NO!'s CWM-flashable version.

Thanks for the clear answer my friend.
And what about the baseband? Is it also updated when I flash ICS thru CWM Recovery?
I assume that after the unbrick guide I will end with an old baseband.
Best Regards.
I think HO!NO! had the ICS baseband/firmware in his installer, but the GB baseband and firmware don't seem to cause any problems. And also, for what it's worth, Ricardo from CyanogenMod advises using the Gingerbread baseband/firmware with CM9/10.

also just tried to install zip from sdcard and it failed and reset my phone to stock, I used a recovery img I took just before I starting trying to resolve this issue tonight. kies says there is no update, can anyone recommend a rom to flash? all I need is root and the latest rom. thanks in advance
The latest rom is MD4. I see you tried updating to MB1. Here's a nice stock rooted rom by freeza. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1910947
Follow installation instructions in thread and you're good to go.

Yeah, just flash the stock rooted. You don't need to take the official update because you'll probably root out afterwards anyway.
You can also flash optionally flash the MD4 firmware (modem and such), it's also listed in freezas thread.

To recover OTA updates you need to reset your binary counter. (you need root access)
So you should root your device again then reset your counter and finally flash a stock firmware.

On Sammobile website you can sort by country. Choose the latest one for your country.

and seems to run smoothly
thank you very much for your help
I happen to have a spare L710 lying around, unfortunately it is unable to connect to my computer(or charge anymore for that matter), but i would like to flash the new ND8 rom from the OTA. for me to do this i need to get my digital hands on the stock recovery for MK3 so i can flash it either via CWM or Mobile ODIN. any one have the file or know where it is online? im really tired of googling for it and comming up empty......
Think you will have to do it this way-http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2565972

Unfortunetaly i cannot use odin because my phone WILL NOT CONNECT TO MY COMPUTER. the usb/charge port on the phone is bad, and its not under warrenty. sorry for the caps, but since it wasnt read the first time i figured a bit more force was necessary.
but i found a solution to my own problem. i extracted the recovery image from the mk3 tar.md5, and created a CWMR flashable zip. once i have tested it i will upload in case anyone wants/needs it
stock recovery for MK3 for flashing in CWMR.
Thank you so much. I've been looking everywhere for this flashable zip.
