As the title implies I think I did in my Epic 4g. I flashed the CM7 mtd build a few days ago and just found out about the 911 issue so i tried ODIN'ing back to stock and it was taking forever (it got stuck of factoryrfs.rfs if I remember correctly) so I unplugged the USB cable as I have done before when Odin freezes on me. When I unplugged the battery and then put the battery back in it will not boot or go into download mode. Any advice or did I actually brick it this time? Thanks
I have heard stories of leaving the battery out for a few days might help. Also holding the power button while inserting the battery. I haven't tried those options, but I have seen people mention them on the forums.
I did something similar the other day.
Remove the battery for a couple of minutes. Plug in with no battery and go to dl mode. You will be fine.
Ensure to use the pit file and select repartition when coming from mtd to stock

Advice above is good. Definitely try it with no battery or sd card using the computer as the power source try to put it into download mode. Others have had success popping the battery in and out trying to get into download mode. Hold all the buttons at once while battery is out to clear any capacitive charge.
I thought my phone was bricked thought it would not boot up at all,i after the third day I took it to sprint to get a replacement, I guess the 3rd day was the charm because as soon as the sprint guy put the battery in it booted up to clockwork and they said my phone was rooted and they would not service, good thing I didnt need them after clockwork any way
Thanks for all the quick responses. I left the battery out of the phone all night and tried popping out the battery and plugging the phone directly into my laptop via USB (HP touchpad cable) and still no go. I tried pressing all the buttons as someone suggested to reduce capacitive charge and still nothing, any other tips or am I going to have to visit the big yellow's at Sprint?
Hidden reset button
Ok, I havent tried this... and I also hear that the older epics dont have it. When you take off the back cover, There is a small hole by the camera. I cant find he the xda form maybe someone will be kinda enough and throw the link up.
But some claim that the hole by the camera is a reset button. poke it with a paper clip (gently?) for about 10-30 secs.
I hope this helps, or you get it working some way or another. I'd look into getting a new usb cable if I were you!

That is a myth imho.
Check the link in my first reply. If the issue is not hardware...somewhere in there should fix it

download mode? I dont think so. I'm getting no battery 'vibe', no nothing. I cannot power it up at all.
I only had clockwork installed (no root or rom) and performed a backup then i went to another screen where CW froze, pulled battery and now Its dead. Is there a PC program that i can access the oc from the back side?
I'm figuring that i wiped everything off the phone but if there is a way to access the recovery partition I would like to know!

lol, obviously!
Install Samsung kies, (this will insure you have the usb drivers)
have your usb connected to your computer but DISCONNECTED from your phone.
Take the battery out, make sure the phone is off.
replace battery, hold down the vol. up and down key at the same time.
while both buttons are pressed plug the usb cable into your computer.
This should get you into download mode, just choose to continue.
From here you can either use odin or kies to flash the complete firmware.

Insurance is helpful in these situations lol
Maybe you can warranty it? Or is it up already?

Our phone hasn't even been out for a year
Just send it back it's broken.
Thanks guys...
Yeah as soon as it happened I slapped myself for not having patience... I'm away on work right now so getting a replacement is not going to happen for a few days.
I'm going to try the warranty angle.
hopefully they don't look to see if its rooted... oie.
apparently there is a company that can JTAG it and basically rewrite to the phone. (hardware needed) I'm mailing it out today.
$80 with express return shipping and unlock.
if this works I will have them do the same for my G2x (apparently I'm good at hard bricking phones <F- I never had a problem before>)
Looks like you had a bad phone to begin with. Never heard of it freezing in cwm before. Just do a warranty exchange. They mail it next day. Then you can mail yours back. No need to do a replacement.
If it doesn't vibrate at all then yeah Hardbrick

ok, so i mailed it to mobiletechvideos.com... paid $20 to express ship it to them, they got it on Friday, fixed it, mailed it out the same day and express shipped it to my house ( i was gone on a trip) and so when i got home, went to my mailbox (today Saturday) and it was sitting there waiting for me.
keep in mind, this was from a solid true brick (would not even power up).
Good stuff!
I had a restore state before i screwed up my phone and guess what, like new (old new) all apps and everything.
Alright guys so normally i'm pretty skilled in getting things to operate perfectly and have always been good at flashing roms but I have a massive issue with my Galaxy Note 2. The phone has NOT been flashed yet. I bought it new and for whatever reason the other night i plugged my phone in before i went to bed as usual. I woke up the next morning and the phone was not charging nor did it show it was plugged in/charged to 100%. It had about 87% battery life so it obviously did charge through the night to some degree. I pulled out the battery, put it back in and the phone booted up all by itself without me even touching the power button! It stays on the battery icon charging screen for about 5 seconds then reboots itself constantly. If you try to hold down the power button it will not boot up. I can get it into Download Mode as well as Recovery mode but none of which have helped it boot up. I am running on the most recent 4.1.2 firmware as well FYI. If you have any ideas please feel free to throw them my way. I don't really understand how this could have happened.. Thanks in advance

I think theres a way to fully format the internal memory before flashing the rom through odin. I dont know much about odin except the flashing bit and rooting. You should check on that.
My guess is that without formatting the phone youre only upgrading the os leaving corrupt files present in the phone that causeing the start up issue.

I'll look into the reformatting.. The weird thing is that last night after letting it sit for like 8+ hours i somehow got it to boot up after putting the battery back in and powering it on really fast the first try. However, now when i plug in the charger it wont recognize the charger being plugged in! This phone is like possessed. When it wont boot up at all and stays on that charging icon screen and then i plug it in, it says it charging and the icon turns green. This makes less than zero sense..
Turn it off. Hold volume up plus home button plus power. Now you're in recovery mode. Select wipe and restore. It should work after, I had the same issue one.

This really looks like short circuit case.
Have you got your phone wet?
It looks like some water or humidity got in and power button is making a shirt circuit.
Maybe it is better to take it to certified service center just to make sure.

Basically i was able to fix the problem by fiddling with the charging port on the phone. I took a tac and cleaned out the inside what seemed like was junk/loose stuff inside of it behind the gold connectors and further in towards the inside of the phones port. I put the battery in and it only booted up when i turned the phone on and it recognizes the phone being plugged in every time i've tried to make it crap out. Everytime i restart the phone it boots up like it should no problem. Seems as though that was the problem! Thanks again for the help
When my phone is unplugged and I press the Power button, nothing happens. However when I plug my phone in and press the Power button, the LG logo displays for a few seconds then a black screen and nothing happens, it does not boot into Android. The phone is not rooted and is locked (never unlocked it), it's fully stock on ZV9. Can someone help me or do I need to bring it into a Sprint repair center?
Leave it plugged in for a while and see if it'll boot.

When you plug it in does your notification light and softkey lights at the bottom flash?
I left it on the charger for about 2 days and tried to see if it would boot, nope. So earlier today I went to a Sprint repair center and brought my phone with me and they looked at it and couldn't figure out why it wouldn't boot so they told me "We needed to order you a new device." and I asked if it would be another Optimus G and the person told me it would be but the Optimus G is backordered so I would need to wait until Wednesday to call and see if I can pick up my new Optimus G. I needed to pay $50 for this. I found out that I could get TEP, the Sprint repair person told me "It's open enrollment for TEP."
I'll post if the new phone has Jelly Bean on it or not.

It won't have Jellybean. I just got my replacement today and it came with ZV9 and is not yet ready for the OTA. They sent me a brand new one not a remanufactured and it was covered by my TEP.

Battery pull
Sent from my LG-LS970 using xda app-developers app
Mine's done this a few times. I can't help but wonder if it's the rooting, the unlocking, or flashing JellyBean leak. When this black screen happens, I have to do a reset via LGNPST (there's a post around here somewhere that gives you the IRC channel to get it; no linking or there will be trouble). The most recent time this has happened is when I misplaced my phone and the battery died. Upon giving it a charge it would boot to black. Quite disappointing. Wish I could have waited for an S4 or something, but my Epic needed replacing.
I had the same problem. Couldn't for the life of me figure it out.
So I plugged LG to recharge and just let it sit for about an hour then tried again only this time I was able to boot into recovery.
Then realized that my battery was dead! It only had 6% of juice.
So I let it recharge and was able to bring life back to my LG.
Very frustrating but in the process, I learned a little bit more about the LG and the great XDA community.
Similar thing happened to my HP Touchpad
The Battery went dead on my HP Touchpad and did something like this. It wouldn't take a charge from it's 2.1 amp wall charger but leaving it plugged into s USB port on your computer for a couple of days will trickle charge it enough to boot and take a charge.

@OP, seems like you are having the same issue that i was having. Get into IRC channel, thr is a good news for ya.
I too am having this problem. Sprint optimus G. My phone is rooted and I unlocked it with FreeGee. I had been putting up with this problem since I got the phone. If I am remembering right it was happening before my phone was rooted. I used to be able to simply hard reset then it would boot fine. Now it will not boot at all. I let the battery die a few days ago and now all I get it the lg splash screen then a black screen with backlight on.
I've reset it multiple times and one time it got the sprint splash screen but then black screened. Also, the phone has been rebooted many times since the root and unlock.
Im having the same trouble, my LGOG has been having weird battery stats and would always go down fast then turn off but when i restarted the phone it would turn on. The problem is that it wont just turn on with the power button. It had to be the volume button and power button. I just now tried to recalibrate the battery since i am not rotted so i drained the battery then kept turning it on (power+volume) till it drained. Now all i get when i turn it on is the recovery window which the select button (power) wont due anything so i have to just do a restart and itll go right back into it. I dont know if the phone is even charging right now.... help pleeasseee
hi everyone I am having the same issue my screen comes on at the LG logo for a second and then shuts off when I plug my charger in the power light that surrounds the power button flashes red I've attempted all different types of charging currents from .5amp to 2 amps but no success,
has anyone tried installing a new battery? I'm going to be ordering one today and will update my experience when the new battery arrives and I install it
So, my LGOG is soft-bricked with a dead battery (happened during a twrp backup, although i swear it was at least 60% when i started). I can get to fastboot by holding vol up and power, and then plugging it in (i lgnpst'd teenybin), but when i try to load recovery it shows a black screen that says google and has an unlocked padlock at the bottom for an instant, then dies.
Everyone on IRC has been very helpful, especially autoprime. When i plug it in, the cap button lights and the red led flash. I plugged it the wall in for about 30 minutes, no heat, nothing. So I am just going to leave it unplugged for the night in hopes something will reset or die enough that the battery charges next time i plug it in. Otherwise I will try a battery pull, and go from there.
If anyone has any insight on getting my battery charged via another method, it is certainly welcome and appreciated.

It may have just been my luck, but when this happened to me, I put the phone into download mode by plugging into a USB port while holding volume up and volume down. After that, I unplugged and powered off, then plugged back in to normal ac charger, and it began to charge, as it showed the battery icon. Left it for a bit, then booted it up no problem. Might be worth a try before opening the phone.

Well, when i unplug mine from download mode, it dies immediately, so i don't think I am getting an opportunity to power it off to reset, but I'll give it a try. Thanks for the suggestion!
UPDATE: I tried, but with no avail, it just goes back to flashing alternately between the cap lights and the red led. I am going to try flashing zv9 stock in lgnpst, to see if maybe i can get into stock recovery.
maybe try charging from download mode? only thing i can think of
Battery pull LGOG worked
Well, battery pull worked! As soon as I flipped that battery bracket back down, the phone powered up and booted fine.
Now here is the interesting part... my phone powered back up and the battery was at 69%. It was not by any means dead. I even left it off the charger for a while to confirm. So, something happened during my TWRP backup that tripped a fault. Could allowing the screen to timeout in TWRP have caused this?
Either way, I want to thank autoprime again for helping me get to this point. My LGOG is back!

Well since I LGNPSTd back when jelly bean leaked and I flashed the update, I have not done anything but root. In fact, I had just installed FreeGee and installed TWRP 2.5 and was doing my first backup. So, something must have gotten corrupt during the backup; possibly because I was on the flashed update vs the OTA, idk...
