Hi all, I've got a stock Epic 4G Touch and I've got a strange issue updating Google Maps.
Recently I noticed that the number of apps listed in the "My Apps" section of the play store dropped by a few without my uninstalling any. I no longer see Google Maps in the list, for example.
I'm now trying to update Google Maps from 6.4.0 to 6.5.0, but the update didn't happen automatically, as it should have, it doesn't show as an available update in the Play store, and when I navigate to it in the Play store and try to update manually, I get an error: "Your order is processing, your item will be available in a few minutes." After pressing OK nothing happens.
Thoughts?
Thanks!
I believe it's the Google Play store issue. It happened to lots of people and even I experienced the same thing a couple of days ago but now everything is fine except the 'connection time out' thing to see the all apps instead of installed from my phone.
Uninstall maps I used titanium back up for that. Then I went to the play store on the browser and installed the latest version of maps.
Yea, the play store is acting funny. It will work itself out. Earlier today is showed that I had no apps installed. I went back in a few minutes ago and he were all there. Give it time

Google doesn't have the capability to handle the market or Android users! I hope someone else take over this role!
Run the install from Play on your desktop. Finally worked for me after 2 days of trying on my phone.
this "new" market is one of the most horrible pieces of software to hit the Android community..Google needs to do something to fix it; why they didn't just leave the older market intact is beyond me..this is a horrible DOWNGRADE..
I’ve had my Epic 4G since August of last year. I ended service with Sprint in the following month and bought the Epic 4G outright to use as an Android device. So I have no data plan on it, I can only go online and download things if there is a wifi connection present. Since I have no home wifi, that means a lot of trips to McDonald’s and Starbucks and the local library. The phone I use to make calls is a cheapo phone on Cricket’s network.
Anyway, a couple of weeks ago I rooted my phone using QBKing’s tutorial video on Youtube. I am now on Gingerbread.FC09. Everything seemed to work fine. I went to a wifi spot, downloaded Titanium Backup from the Google Play store, everything still worked. I used Titanium Backup to delete four things: Amazon MP3, Nascar, Sprint Football, and Sprint TV & Movies. Nothing else. After that deletion, however, when I try to go to the Google Play Store on a wifi connection, it closes. Not force closes, just…opens than closes as if it was never open in the first place.
I have tried:
-talking to QBKing himself about it (he can’t figure it out either)
-clearing the partition
-clearing the Delvik cache
-finding the most recent version of Google Play Store, downloading it to my phone via mass storage, and installing it by double clicking the apk
-Uninstalling updates for Google Play Store (“clear cache” and “clear data” is always greyed out)
-Deleting Titanium Backup
None of these actions have had any effect. I can still surf the net normally, even upload videos to Youtube. Nothing has been effected except my ability to open Play Store. I even get update notifications that I have apps that need updating.
I have searched xda and while I have found threads with similar issues, none for the Epic 4G. I am not sure if I should take an answer I saw for a completely different phone by a completely different maker and apply it to mine. Plus I wonder if my problem is unique given that I have a phone with no service.
Other info that might help:
-I have Google Services Framework Version 2.3.7. I can’t seem to find a more recent version of that.
-Kernel Version is 2.6.35.7
-No roms, at all, I’ve been too focused on trying to get Google Play Store to work again to even think about getting and flashing roms.
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Okay...I went through Accounts and Sync and selected the google account under Manage accounts. Selected remove account, got the warning if I really want to delete it, I selected remove account...then got a popup saying I can only remove this account by resetting the phone to factory defaults.
I've already backed up my phone through clockwork (ate up a bit of my microSD card but its there). So if the only way to delete my Google account is to factory reset my phone, I can get it all back in recovery? But won't it also "recover" the same problem?

Set up another google account, then delete your original one, then set it back up... it will only let you delete your google account if you have more than one set up....
I'm in your shoes as I use my non-activated Epic 4G over WIFI. Do yourself a favor and reflash with Cyanogenmod 9 release ROM and apps:

My Epic 4G has become great to awesome after doing so and Google Play works fine.

Okay, I just went to the local McD's for wifi, set up another Google account, tried to delete the old one...and it gave me the same warning that I have to reset the phone to factory settings to do this. Apparently the first Google account is connected to too many things to just delete it.

I believe you need to clear the data/cache from the Google account manager app in order for it to let you delete that account.
It's one of the google apps anyways. Can't remember exactly which one at the moment.

Okay I have the cyanogenmod saved to my sd card, but I can't seem to download the gapps zip from your link nor from google searches. I'll give it a try when I can. I am kind of hesitant to do this, but...I've already backed up everything in recovery plus I reinstalled Titanium Backup and backed up my apps, so...I should be good to go whenever the gapps zip becomes available. For now I am going to try and figure out what app GuidingArrow is talking about.
Okay, I found a functioning gapps from the official wiki site. So I have flashed my phone following, again, a QBKing tutorial. This Cyanogenmod seems pretty cool. My camera seems to be downgraded, but other than that, nice. I am about to go to a McD's and...hope for the best regarding the Google Play store.
Problem Solved
When I flashed it to Cyanogenmod 9, I soft bricked my phone by trying to install backup (oops). So, I used Odin to restore to stock then rerooted.
Turns out the problem all along was...nothing was mentioned in the vid I saw about flashing the gapps right after flashing the rom. But It was mentioned in the video for flashing to Cyanogenmod 9, so when I restored to stock and then rerooted I flashed gapps this time. And voila, I have the Google Play Store working again. I used Titanium Backup to restore my apps, readded my Google account, and everything is fine and dandy again.
The only thing is, I have decided not to go back to Cyanogenmod 9 for now, not without more research. One of the most important features on the Epic 4G (to me anyway), is the camera, and when I was briefly on Cyanogenmod 9 before I soft bricked my phone, the camera seemed...downgraded, to have less features than it has now. Just going to do more research on that end before flashing it again.
fixed

My Nexus 7 2013 or FHD or whatever has been working great since day one. I was just now listing to some music, and put it on pause to speak with a co-worker. I just came back to my desk with the Nexus boot up logo showing. It took a very long time (3-5 minutes) for it to finish booting up.
After unlocking the tablet I'm greeted with "Google Play Services stopped working." Instead of loading NovaLauncher right away it it asks me if I want to launch the default launcher or NovaLauncher. Selecting Nova greets me with the default NovaLauncher layout--all of my icons and folders have been lost to the default. And I no longer have a PIN set or anything.
Poking around further it seems several other things have lost data. Swiftkey wants me to re-download the English layout and complete setup. All of the stock system apps want updates. And I keep getting pop ups saying Google Play Services has crashed.
What's really odd is when I want to bring this up on another forum someone else posted a very similar experience:
The Nexus 7 is great but my experience was short lived.
I don't know if it was a bad tablet or bad encryption but something seriously broke. I wanted to add my company email to my tablet and part of that process involves enabling encryption on my device. Everything was fine and running well, until I plugged it in for the night. At some point my Nexus rebooted and it was at the pre OS screen asking for encryption credentials. I thought that was weird but entered my info. It chugs along fine until it loads my lock screen where I immediately notice it no longer was asking for a PIN and my background changed back to the default. I go to my home screen and noticed my widgets weren't loading and I started getting error messages saying Currents and Play Store stopped responding. I try and access those apps but they go straight to a crash message.
I go ahead and factory reset it and when I tried to reapply the encryption it would go through the motions but it would never encrypt. I thought it was a bad reset and reset it again. Now it just hangs where it says Google and never boots up.
I ended up calling Google Support and I'm getting my Nexus replaced. Has anyone else experienced anything like this before?

I don't have encryption but I do have an exchange account added. There wasn't any remote wipe or anything. I haven't tried a factory reset yet but we'll see if I have the same issues the other person was having.
It's a little concerning to see someone else have almost the exact same thing happen. Makes me worried there's some defective memory out there. Has anyone else heard of this happening?
I've had some really strange experiences the last couple of days with my N7 as well. Bear with me as i try to explain.
I picked up my N7 after work yesterday and noticed the Fandango app had an update waiting. I tapped 'Update', and then went to check something in the Play app settings, and noticed the version was 4.2.9. When the Fandango app finished updating, i opened it up to check out some showtimes. After that i went back to the Play app, into the settings again, and noticed that the app version had been bumped up to 4.3.1. When i tapped the home button, the N7 locked up, and i couldn't do anything at all. I powered it down and attempted to reboot, but no luck. I could get as far as the boot animation, but no further, no matter how long i let it run, or how many times i attempted to reboot. The only thing that worked was to completely wipe everything via fastboot, reinstall 4.3, and start from scratch. I thought my problems were solved, as everything seemed to work fine once i got everything re-installed and configured again.
Until i came home from work today, that is.
Upon arriving home, i unlocked my N7 and was greeted by several dialog boxes indicating that both the stock calendar app and Currents had crashed. Neither app could be opened, as they'd immediately crash, and the stock launcher would also crash, even though i use Nova Launcher. I thought maybe uninstalling/reinstalling updates for Calendar, would help, but the Play Store would crash immediately and could not be launched. I went into settings>apps and tried uninstalling updates and clearing data for all three apps, but only the Play Store app seemed to benefit from this. Nothing seems to help Calendar or Currents. They won't sync or open, and i've also just noticed that the Gallery immediately force closes when i try to launch that, too. My Google Voice app, which i used last night with no problems whatsoever, had lost all its data and had to be reconfigured from scratch. I'm still going through the rest of my apps one at a time to see if there are problems with any of them, but so far all other Google apps are working properly.
I'm perplexed as to what the problem is. Software issue? Hardware issue? In any case, i'm calling Google Support to ask for a replacement, just to be safe. I'm hoping that the N7 i have now is just a lemon, and not indicative of more widespread problems.
I bought two, one works flawlessly (knock on wood) and the other one **** the bed after three days of use. I am returning it for a new one.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
I'm all setup to return this one, and not a moment too soon as it's acting even wonkier now. DashClock force closes, and i'm finding some apps have had their data erased, while others are working normally. Hopefully the replacement works as it's supposed to, because i'll be really annoyed if i have to go through three or four tablets before i get one that works.
I just had almost the exact same issue, opened SoundHound premium and the nexus 7(2103) crashed.
After like 5mins it boots up, with my google account deleted (with it all my paid apps), all the google apps updates and google services crashing.
and above all extremely slow.
I'm now re-registering my account, to see if ir returns to normal.

Did you have an exchange account set up on the Nexus?
After this happened to me I wiped everything (I wanted to unlock the bootloader anyways) and things are going fine. If it happens again I'm going to exchange it.
So two days ago I installed freedom on my phone. I patched minecraft for the skins and then just left it and the next day my friend came over and was using my phone as a hotspot but he couldn't use snapchat. It just wasn't loading anything even though everything else was fine and it worked fine when he connected to my wifi. I then noticed my snapchat wasn't loading anything either so i logged out and that was the last time i've been logged into snapchat for two days now. It just thinks about logging in for ages then tells me it cant reach the servers. The other problem is my playstore won't work. It says check connection and retry instantly and ive tried uninstalling all updates to play store, clearing cache and data etc. Another weird thing is my phone was taking ages to boot up. I removed freedom cus I suspect it has sabotaged my phone but I have no idea what to do about it. I use snapchat a lot and it's really getting to me as this issue makes no damn sense. Sorry for the rushed typing.
Factory reset?
Oh, and anything related to Lucky P****** is a taboo on XDA. The mods are dead serious about it, you might want to edit your post quick.
Sent from my LG-H812 using Tapatalk
Thanks for the reply and I've edited my post now. I have narrowed the issue down to being google play services as snapchat requires that to log in. I tried to remove google play services to reinstall it but it can't actually be removed fully not even with titanium backup so now it's just one big mess. My google account has been removed from my phone and I can't add it back because it just tells me "There was a problem communicating with google play servers". I really don't want to factory reset my phone as I have it rooted etc and it's just a major pain in the arse to get everything back to how I want it so I'm going to just try and sort it out by trying different things.
Edit: I solved it. Went into the hosts file in etc/hosts and commented out the ip for google play services then restarted my phone and that allowed me to log into google play account and everything works fine now. It said my hosts file was last edited at 9 oclock of august 30th so I don;t know what edited it but I feel like it as purposely sabotaged.
I don't know if this might help but i remember i had the same problem (coudn't use play store right after using freedom) on my s3. When you're done with freedom just remember to click on "stop" in the app or play store won't allow you to access it
My phone has been wonky this week. Apps won't update, and "calendaring" services and apps not kicking off.
Blue light filter scheduled in the OS doesn't run at night now, or disable in the morning when it should.
Apps with reminders come in way late or not at all. Appointments for work alert multiple times for same event, even though dismissed. Date and time is correct on the phone.
If I reboot, the missed reminders flood in immediately.
Txt messages just sit waiting to be sent, reboot, send out. No differenence if on wifi or Cellular.
Force close the app and reopen or reboot phone, sometimes drafted messages still present and send, other times the draft is just gone.
I have tried optimized and High Performance battery modes, no difference.
Apps won't update either (22 waiting), sometimes download to 99% and just spin until I reboot, or fully download, then just sit there.
If I let the phone sit idle, notification will come up that 5 apps have updated, go to the Play Store and those same apps still show as needing to updated or being processed. Reboot, then they show updated.
I have cleared cache and storage data for the Play Store and Google Play Services, no change.
System usually has around 4.5GB Ram available. Earlier in the week I could run the device optimizer, and that would clear things up for a little bit.
Did get the security update from AT&T on Nov 1st, things were running fine before that.
Galaxy Note 10+
SM-N975U
Remaining phone details on attached screen shot.
Is this an OS issue?
Could a bad SIM cause this?
Do I have a bad phone?
I really don't want to have to factory reset the phone, just got it 3 weeks ago, any suggestions?
Factory reset is definitely the way to go. If you use a password manager, it's really not a big deal. Just make sure you backup anything not in the cloud. Short of that, start deleting apps, newest to oldest installed it updated, in hopes you find the culprit.
One thought though... if you installed the Samsung Labs stuff, try removing that first. Those seem a bit not ready for prime time.

I have deleted all apps from this past week and don't have anything from Samsung past stock apps.
I do have everything backed up in the cloud including my 2FA/MFA authentication is backed up except 1 can't be, so that will be a manual reset.
Appreciate the reply, figured the reset is where I'm headed, just thought I would throw it out there.
Well this is beyond frustrating.
Reset to factory, phone was fine until I restored settings, then I was right back to what was happening before.
Reset phone again, only restored content, no apps or settings.
I checked Google Play and Samsung Store for updates, ran what was available.
Things were going well, I would install a few apps, configure with Logins, continue forward.
I got a message there was an update, Samsung Experience Service and it Updated automatically, then everything started again, first that no further apps will install.
I Uninstalled Samsung Experience, but it only Uninstalled the update. I tried to install another app after this, not successful, even after a reboot.
I tried to reinstall the Samsung Experience from Play Store, would not complete.
Ran the app update from the Galaxy store successfully. Rebooted phone, still no other apps will install from Google Play.
I can install from Galaxy Store without issue, but not all of my apps are available there.
Even if I reset again, that update will come into play
So frustrated right now how much time I have wasted for this phone to be rendered undependable so quickly.
I think I might try creating a new Samsung account and see if that helps.
I read many issues with restoring. Try to factory reset it without restoring anything, and setup the phone, apps, and downloading everything manually to notice if it's helps.
I ended up taking the phone into an authorized Samsung repair shop. They flashed the phone with new OS with cumulative updates. Phone has been fine since.

Firstly,
i only saw/ read your above post (thread) now.
I'm glad you managed to sort your annoying issue out.!
What you experience, by factory resetting etc and issue still
persisted , i also experience 2 x with my older devices.
(Think it was note 5 and/or my Note 8).
Can't exactly remember issues i had, think one issue, was my Bluetooth quick setting icon kept on disappearing in the Quick toggles, and something else.
( Not similar issues , like you experienced )
Also only resolved it , by flashing relevant official stock Rom again (clean install etc.) as factory resetting failed to fix it.
Point /lesson here, is that a factory reset, does not always
help...?
Good luck.
