BatteryWarner is designed specifically for my battery mod [MOD] Battery White Circle, increments 1%, ARHD x & other x.x based ROMs
which indicates remaining battery power from 15-100% exclusively in white color - but of course it should work with any other battery or device with Android v. 4.x.
Since i don't wanted to run into low battery without any visual or audible warning, i created this App to notify about remaining battery
power far earlier than the default low battery notifications.
This is for example important if you plan to use your navigation software on a long trip or wanting to hear music for a long time - without a chance to recharge your battery.
Well - now you can ensure that your battery is recharged to the minimum level you need.
Key Features:
BatteryWarner will notify about remaining battery power on a user configurable percentual range between 15-99%.
[*]You can choose a value from this range in 5% percentage incrementation.
Further you can select a reminder interval (in minutes) to notify when remaining battery power is equal or lower than the selected notification level.
[*]There is an option to adjust a time span you don't want to get warnings, for example at nights...
You can prevent getting warnings during phone calls by selecting the checkbox option "Do not notify during phone calls".
In this case warnings will be interrupted during phone calls. It will resume a few minutes after detecting a finished phone call.
[*]On the checkbox option "Use notification sound (Otherwise vibrate)" you can set if you want to get warned by default notification sound or vibration.
BatteryWarner predicts the estimated recharging time either for your chosen percentual notification level or until fully recharged when plugged.
I implemented an algorithm which calculates the recharging time basing on each particular device, since i noticed the recharging capabilities differing from device to device.
[*]BatteryWarner service does not monitor battery state via ACTION_BATTERY_CHANGED when unplugged, since this would eat up your battery.
BatteryWarner does not require root privilegs.
Screenshots:
Description of the battery bar at the bottom of this App (also check the About/Help in menu within App for more information):
The blue mark indicates the remaining battery power.
The red mark indicates the threshold of the selected percentual notification level. It's only visible if remaining battery power is lower than the selected notification level!
The green mark indicates the procentual range until fully recharged. It's only visible if remaining battery power and selected percentual notification level are lower than 100%!
Updates / Changelog:

Since I am from Germany it would be nice, if some native speaker helped me to correct this App description here on this thread and the English texts within the App.
You can PM me if you are willing to help me.

Hi Thant,
i made it a background service which checks the battery level 4 times per hour (via AlarmManager) - if the remaining battery level is "way higher" than the user adjusted percentual value.
If remaining battery level is almost as high as the user adjusted percentual value, it checks more often (10 times per hour) to ensure it can warn as soon as possible regarding low battery.
So it's max. 4 seconds per hour "active" and shouldn't influence the battery level noticeable.

brush2

Hi for all...
This is new "Battery History" BETA application for Gingerbread.
I will increment features and others over the time.
Like my work? Pay me a beer.
The interface is the same existing in older Android versions...
Pay attention!
This is not final version, errors and bugs may occurs.
--- 20110413 ---
This little appl implements old style of "Battery History", that shows:
- Partial wakeup
- Network usage
- CPU usage
- Misc usage
- GPS usage
Spare Parts don't implement this menu in older versions... This is a shortcut to Settings -> "Battery History", but in GB this menu does not exists anymore.
I implementing more functions to release a new version...
--- 20110521 ---
Application still working in new versions of gb...
I working in a little changes in program.
--- 20110528 ---
* A little explain about two colors in a few items...
in a few itens, like "CPU usage", "Network usage", more than one time or data are collected. In this case, two bars are showed.
Eg.
in "CPU usage", the blue bar represents "user time" and red bar represents "system time".
in "Network usage", the blue bar represents received data and red bar represents sent data.
if time or data given collected is too small compared to total time selected, no any bars is shown.
* "Sensor usage" dont shown sensor name but package was using any sensors.
Eg. by my experience in my SGS, sensors related to the Android-system usually point to auto brightness.
---
in working changes:
1) little interface changes
2) show more items
3) solve the damn sorter
4) refresh when reopen, if this cached
5) some optimizations
6) according suggestion of "Marioaguado" add an About (with version) item on menu
---
bug reports are welcome..
requests are welcome too...
Anyone tried this? Me afraid (bump)
Could you please state the already included features and also the advantage of using it over the existing XXJVK battery usage history? In this way users will be encouraged to download and install your app.
This is great, thank you. For you who don't know what this is, it's just the spare parts battery history that didn't work in xxjvk.
Maybe you could do a whole spare parts app with this mod implemented? That way we wouldn't need two apps
Thanks a lot for this stock battery info is pretty useless for fault finding high battery drain, but this is excellent, using it on Desire
+1~~~
Are there any updates to this program yet? I've noticed that the stats it's reporting aren't accurate(atleast on my Evo). For example, it will display 36s of total time for CPU usage and if I go back 5 hours later it still displays the same thing, whether I choose 'Since Last Unplugged' or 'Total since boot'. It always gives the same results, nothing changes.

Hi kenlperry...
It's a little bug. The program can't close when you close this.

Hi,
I've got a force close on opening the app.
I'm runnning a gingerbread rom on a Desire HD. It works perfectly for other users having same config...
It happened after full wipe, a few restorations using titanium backup and a battery calibration using this app : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1024867&highlight=battery+history
Any clue ?
solved...I was using Battery History from the market and I thought it was yours...
Yours working perfectly !
Nice
Hello could you explain me what it means the colors Blue and Red in the stats please, this tools is great.

Is this normal sensor usage
(and does it drain battery?)
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Update: Seems like "Telefon" is no longer using the sensor after I disabled USB-debugging
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Excellent! Apparently exactly what I've been looking for since update to 2.3/gingerbread on desire hd. Would be happy to buy it.
Cannot understand why these statistics have been removed from the stock rom.
A question, for my better understanding -- what exactly this application does:
- just outputs the numbers already collected/present in the system
- modifies battery statistic-related code handling so these numbers are collected. Any overheads involved?
- I assume there are no modification to any standard system code (default usage statistics, any other power management related code)?
Thanks!
Dmitry.
Is there some documentation for this app? For instance I'll like to know why the Android-system is using my sensors 24/7...which sensor? And is this expected/normal behavior?

Hi for all...
dmitryu => answer for your questions...
- yes... data has been collected from the system.
- no any changes in the system battery statistics. Application uses a minimum cpu as possible, no drains related.
- no... application run standalone. no any system changes
no_johnr =>
no any documentation at this time. items displayed are collected from your system. by my experience, sensors related to the Android-system usually point to auto brightness, at least in my case.
see if total Android-System sensor time is the same of "Screen on". A little difference can exists, but comparing with "Display" in the new "Battery Use" item, its the same.

This Thread is for Optimizing your Battery Life for the ongoing CM10 builds by Quarx, and for my nagging questions.
First you should read about your Battery, and how it calibrates here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1778492
then I recommend this older Thread of a guy who managed to squeeze out 6 days of juice from his Defy
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1022390
His approach is very simple; LessIsMore: no sync, no mobile Data, no widgets, no GPS, bare minimum Apps....
I tried that with Quarx builds, and of course it works. The Downside is, there`s no more shiny stuff on my phone. The good thing apart from increased Battery Life, the OS becomes very fast and a great Testgadget for Quarx work in a minimal environment.
But from here I`d like to dig deeper, and get more Power:
Which System APP`s can be deleted whithout Problems? (I started with trebuchet (nova Launcher) that gives 10MB)
Do you now good alternative APP`s with a low Energy Footprint?
Do you use your phone in any special Battery efficient way? (I have all my non super important APP`s stored as backups with Titanium Backup, and restore them when needed)
WLAN always on?
What other things help with Battery Life on CM10 Jelly Bean?

If LessIsMore, in the way you described it, is the way to go for better battery performance, it will be much more efficient to abandon SMART Phones all together and go back to NOKIA Age.
In today time (21st century) we need to be connected to the net and cloud AT ALL TIME therefore there must be other solution about batteries. Either bigger capacities (RAZR MAXX) or optimized software.
Quarx and the rest from XDA or CM can not help with the hardware (Big capacity batteries) but could optimized the software. I am aware that everyone has different requirement/need BUT there must be a point to start from (may be at least 8 hours (while on work) 3G DATA On (messaging, e-mails), All the goodies (screen related fancy widget, etc.) some Browsing, some Music/Radio) until back home.
And so say (for example): Quarx Rom v.X is out now (and you will be sure that by this set of min. requirement) it will last for at least while on work (typically 8 hours)
It will eliminate half of the question here about "Battery drain and how to overcome it"
At least that is the way I think about all this issues.

I'm not too battery efficient but I am curious as to what I can tweek in the display settings since most of it has some alien jargon. i.e. the Light Sensor Levels...
Ok, here's my current setup I'm reading for battery savings. I think it sets a good balance between efficiency and usability. I'm using Llama to automate all of this.
Data switches on when the phone is unlocked and switches off 2 min after screen off. If I'm at home, the WiFi also switches on with the same settings. When WiFi is connected, data switches off.
When mobile data is on, 2G/3G is on. When the screen turns off or when the WiFi is connected, 2G only.
Sync is disabled, but every hour the mobile data is enabled and it turns on sync and requests update.
I've mucked around with custom auto brightness levels and vsel values as well, and it automatically sets to vsel1 when the screen is off.
Here is my usage from yesterday. This included about 50 min of voice calls.
Sent from my Jelly Bean powered Motorola Defy
The screen, and specifically the backlight are major battery hogs.
With this in mind, I'd suggest, if you use your phone mostly at night (like me) then even minimum brightness can be too much...
Use an app like Screen Filter to reduce your brightness levels right up to 0% backlight.
I use the light sensor levels in the day, and at night, when I find the screen a bit too bright, I switch to the lowest sensor level and add a filter of up to 54% or 72%, as need be.
Doing this, I've noticed that screen related battery consumption goes down from 90% with screen continuously on to ~75%.

Can someone share his experience with the sensor levels for the automatic brightness? Also maybe for the other 'automatic brightness' values ..
... apart of the fact that the number of stages has to be changed to save values in the current Quarx Rom

I love my Llama!
I've been looking for something like this since I left the factory supplied motoblur eclair which had some simple data management functions built in. There are literally hundreds of different actions and conditions to personalise. This is sure to extend battery life.
One question. Have you noticed if the app itself uses much battery?
Thanks for sharing... everyone needs a Llama!

The power usage is really minimal. The location method uses the cell id of the tower you are connected to, so does not use additional battery like the Google Location Service or GPS.
Llama is definitely in my shortlist for favorite app.
Also, one of the latest beta release has a profile sharing feature. If I can figure that out I might post some of my profiles.

Tested for 2 days with Ambient Mode ON and OFF
After about 3-4 days of messing around, and installing and uninstalling apps and watchfaces, I finally got to a point where I thought I can have a real world battery test with my Moto 360.
For the following test I kept the same Stock watchface on and didn't install or uninstall any app during the test. I also wanted to mention I have Runkeeper, PixtoCam, Phone Finder, and Wear Mini Laucher pre-installed.
So below are my 2 Graphs showing the battery percentage decrease during the day and amount of notifications received during test. :victory:

Notifications Dont impact the battery as much as you would think. I didn't receive many Notification during the tests, because I finally shut off my Work Email alerts on my watch (Didn't need it). The day before I started testing (4 days after having the watch) I got about 20-30 Notifications per hours (I'm CCed alot in emails) for about 4-5 hours with ambient mode off and I still got over 12 hours of battery Life!
The only thing that kills my moto 360 quickly is messing around with 3rd party app like PixtoCam or Games.

For the tests I set an alarm for every hour and I would just swipe down on my watchface and record the Battery status. I also recorded how many Notifications and disconnections I got in each Hour. (I have a lot of free time at work during the weekends)

I got about 4 the first day and 5 the second day of testing.
It would only Disconnect for about 2-3 seconds and if a Notification came through it would always force reconnect and show on my watch.
I had this problem on my Lg g watch also.
I also notice that most disconnections happen in my Car. I wonder if my car's search for new bluetooth devices affect it? Or if its affecting my phones link to my watch?
Either way never bothered me much.
I don't have any data proof but I am getting 25-30 HR life on a charge. I do the math a handful times a day. Its usually 2.5 to 4% drain per hour depending on what I am doing. Today was 6 am to 10 pm and it went on the charger with 48% left.
Ambient off, moto watch face, light alerts, light music control.

As of now there's no real magic trick just do the following and it should help (it at least helped me):
-Fully Charge and Discharge your battery at least 3 times.
-Keep ambient Mode off
-Set notifications (from apps) that you dont need to the "Mute App Notifications" List in you Android Wear Settings
Example: I set my Work email (Outlook Mobile) to that list since I don't need it on my watch
-Choose a Stock Moto Watchface (Until android release Watchface API this is the best option for now)
-Uninstall unneeded 3rd party apps
Thats it... for now. :victory:

I am not sure why it would do that...Have you tried uploading a different watchface and then going back to this one?
This is the first time I have heard that from this particular face....
Let me know!
I will try to check back here more often. I took ill and wasn't on the computer as much.

Was that something magic spell or super natural power I did on my phone to get such awesome backup? The answer is NO it’s just a tuning which all should follow in the beginning to get such battery backup. So let me explain 1 by 1, and before that I’m not sure if battery tuning works for people who already using phone for more than a week, so battery tuning is for those who got phone just a few days back and not more than a week can do the battery tuning. But some custom settings I’ve explained after battery tuning, which can be applied to all user irrespective of when they bought Yureka. Well the people who are using Yureka for more than a week, you also give it a try.
Battery Tuning:
1. You received your phone, you start unboxing, but before you switch on the phone, just check out user manual for initial charging instructions. For Yureka its 3 hrs. So switch on the phone (without SIM and memory card) check the battery, if battery is below 50% then switch it off and put on charging for continuous 3hrs. Don’t plug out if it reaches 100% in just 2 hrs. Continue charging for 3hrs.
2. After 3+ hrs. Unplug charger, insert SIM and memory card and go on its all yours. Use the phone till it dies of 0% battery. Don’t worry about the backup its giving now. It may give 7 to 12 hrs. backup.
3. When it battery run out of juice and Yureka get switched off, keep it on charging until it reaches 100% don’t switch on the phone in between let it reach 100%.
4. After reaching 100% charge it more for another 10min and unplug charger > switch on the phone > use the phone.
5. Repeat step 3 and 4 for another 2 times, yeah it takes nearly 3-4 days to complete from step 1 to the step 5.
6. After completing step 5 you have a tuned battery. Now you have to take care of that. How to take care? here are some small tips :
a. Always keep your phone for charging only when it reaches below 5% (2% is recommended )
b. Never use phone during charging (No camera, No browsing, No Facebook, No games and etc. etc… However in emergency cases usage of internet and calling can be done for 5min.
c. Advised to keep phone in airplane mode for faster charging.
7. It might be difficult to follow Step 6a, as one cannot follow this while travelling. So why don’t you think of a Power Bank?
Using all these not only improves battery backup also keeps your battery healthy.
That’s all about battery tuning. Now let’s look into custom settings for enhanced battery backup:
Battery Management:
1. Keep display brightness to low always when you’re not in direct sunlight. And never keep in Auto Brightness mode unless it is required with higher priority.
2. Turn off the double tap to wakeup feature if you consider battery backup is more important than saving time by not pressing the power button.
3. Turn off the Location when not in use. Just go to settings > scroll down to Personal section and turn it off.
4. Turn off Auto Rotation.
5. Keep dark coloured wallpaper ( I’ve kept NO WALLPAPER ).
6. Turn off vibrations of notifications when it’s not necessary.
7. Turn off Navigation Buttons backlight as its not required always ( once phone become handy, you never need backlight again )
8. Go to settings > Personal section > Privacy > Privacy Guide > tap on option button / 3 dots in the top right corner > select Advanced > Under Location tab , Tap on Google Play Services > scroll down until you see “Wake up “ tap next to it and change option to Denied from Allowed > scroll down until you see “Keep awake “ tap next to it and change option to Denied from Allowed > and in the last row change the same to Denied for “Auto start”.
9. Do the step 6 procedure with Facebook app if you use, but for “Wake up” change it to Always Ask instead changing it to Denied.
10. Disable unnecessary apps like Google Maps, Google Play Books, Google Play Games, Google Play Newsstand, Hangouts, G+ etc… according to your use and needs.
11. Daily once clear data of Google Play Services, go to settings > apps > all apps > google play services > tap on “Manage Space“ > Tap on CLEAR ALL DATA > give OK to the confirmation pop ups.
12. Do the step 9 with Facebook app if you are installed it. (I recommend not to use face book app as it uses lot of battery and memory. But Facebook messenger is quite ok compared with Facebook app.)
That’s all about the customization for battery backup. I’ll update this if I found new tricks and fix to get much more battery backup.
