Tested for 2 days with Ambient Mode ON and OFF
After about 3-4 days of messing around, and installing and uninstalling apps and watchfaces, I finally got to a point where I thought I can have a real world battery test with my Moto 360.
For the following test I kept the same Stock watchface on and didn't install or uninstall any app during the test. I also wanted to mention I have Runkeeper, PixtoCam, Phone Finder, and Wear Mini Laucher pre-installed.
So below are my 2 Graphs showing the battery percentage decrease during the day and amount of notifications received during test. :victory:
(I work night shifts, so you can see that I don't wake up till about 2pm )
Let me know what you guys think and if you any question please post below. Thx :silly:

nice graph, thanks for sharing!
personally now that it has gone through a few cycles I am confident of all-day use. charging every night no big deal, and actually love the charger so much (effortless wireless, great angle, needed a bedside clock anyway) I like putting it on it
Love the graphs. Nice
You barely get any notifications and the battery is that bad?? Ouch...
how did you get the battery stats? I havent had a chance to wear the watch and im at after 72 hours, i can post the details.

Notifications Dont impact the battery as much as you would think. I didn't receive many Notification during the tests, because I finally shut off my Work Email alerts on my watch (Didn't need it). The day before I started testing (4 days after having the watch) I got about 20-30 Notifications per hours (I'm CCed alot in emails) for about 4-5 hours with ambient mode off and I still got over 12 hours of battery Life!
The only thing that kills my moto 360 quickly is messing around with 3rd party app like PixtoCam or Games.

For the tests I set an alarm for every hour and I would just swipe down on my watchface and record the Battery status. I also recorded how many Notifications and disconnections I got in each Hour. (I have a lot of free time at work during the weekends)
Neat. How many disconnects did you get?

I got about 4 the first day and 5 the second day of testing.
It would only Disconnect for about 2-3 seconds and if a Notification came through it would always force reconnect and show on my watch.
I had this problem on my Lg g watch also.
I also notice that most disconnections happen in my Car. I wonder if my car's search for new bluetooth devices affect it? Or if its affecting my phones link to my watch?
Either way never bothered me much.
I don't have any data proof but I am getting 25-30 HR life on a charge. I do the math a handful times a day. Its usually 2.5 to 4% drain per hour depending on what I am doing. Today was 6 am to 10 pm and it went on the charger with 48% left.
Ambient off, moto watch face, light alerts, light music control.

No data needed, I believe you. If you look at my battery chart, my test with ambient mode off was about 3-4% drain per hour. That over 24 hours of usage ! :victory:

As of now there's no real magic trick just do the following and it should help (it at least helped me):
-Fully Charge and Discharge your battery at least 3 times.
-Keep ambient Mode off
-Set notifications (from apps) that you dont need to the "Mute App Notifications" List in you Android Wear Settings
Example: I set my Work email (Outlook Mobile) to that list since I don't need it on my watch
-Choose a Stock Moto Watchface (Until android release Watchface API this is the best option for now)
-Uninstall unneeded 3rd party apps
Thats it... for now. :victory:

I am on Stock Rom (Forgot to mention this)
I average about 3.30 hours of screen time with my settings everyday, today I had 4.30 hours, 1.4 Internet surfing, 30 min voice calls, and 12 hours of wifi, total time 22.54 hours.
This is my best so far: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...79392&page=114 (I think I can reach better results (Have better average results now)
Also please feel free to share your settings.
My settings:
Unlocked and rooted.
LED Notifications off (except for SMS).
Fastboot in power settings unticket.
Sound Settings - Turned sensors Off: Quiet ring on pick up, Pocket mode, Flip for speaker.
Brightness Control using this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...rightnesslevel (I mostly leave it at 15% its more than enough for my vision at least, then if out and its really sunny I just switch to 50% its a widget so its easy to use).
All vibration settings, haptic feedback and stuff off(except for phone calls).
All auto-sync off (everything updates when you enter it like email and weather and others so no need to be on).
All animations Off (you won't notice any difference after awhile so it might as well be off).
Phone dial, keyboard and other tones off.
In developer options-> Background process limit set to 3. (Reverts after reboot/restart)
Using Core Control, can be found here (Must be rooted) http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1652136 and I have it set to 2 cores. (Reverts after reboot/restart)
Have the backlights on the 3 capacitive buttons on the bottom off at all times using Tasker using a mod made by backfromthestorm, credits go to him and nobnut, mod can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...1657619&page=3 (Reverts after reboot/restart).
Another mod from backfromthestorm (which can be found in the link above aswell)is better multi-tasking which changes the values in sys/module/lowmemorykiller/parameters/minfree file to 1536,2048,3584,5120,15360,20480, I set the values using Tasker. (Reverts after reboot/restart).
Another thing I do before going to sleep or not going to use the phone for a few hours is I use the built in app Task Manager's and kill all tasks and then turn the screen off, by doing this I have noticed that battery percentage doesn't mysteriously drop without using it.
Can't remember what other settings I may have at the moment but will add if memory allows
I have frozen the following apps and others:
I thought this way would be quicker and easier, I hope at least excuse my laziness otherwise

Decent stats:
This was pretty much hardcore non-stop usage.
This was pretty much not letting the phone rest from the moment it finished charging.
Will do some video tests later to see how long it can last while watching some HD flicks.

Thanks for all the tweaks, I have never had more than 2.5 hour screen time. Ill shall now use some of your settings to mix my own frozen yogurt (edit Ice Cream yogurt) . So far CM9 seems to be my bag, but I bought the phone for the camera...
Very useful thread, thanks
Just one thing though, the LEDs used for the LED Notifications use so little power that you can leave them enabled and it will drain next to no power at all! Not sure about the capacitive LEDs though, I can't imagine they use much power either!

You are welcome, yeah I know that the LEDs may not save much battery at all but one thing I like about the capacitive lights is that I have the options as widget shortcuts on my screen so I can turn them on when I feel like I need them, but most of the time I keep them off

hello,
I have the SW3 only since yesterday, but unfortunately I have found many things that make the clock for me not usable. Maybe you will also find solutions to the problems !?
1. Display activation can not be set:
The display of SW3 always goes on when I move my wrist or tap on it. Can you disable that somewhere ??
I go to swim with the clock and every time you touch a drop of water, the clock goes on and there are things unintentionally started.
This is really annoying ...
2. No Sleep recording and no Lifelog functions
As a previous user of a smart band, I do not want to miss the sleep recording and according to the information and work with the SW3. unfortunately
works Lifelog not on the clock and the sleep recording does not work.
Only about Google Fit the steps are counted ...
So I can also display any things from Lifelog leave me like calories, etc ...
3. GPS smartphone without
Currently possible only with the Google My Tracks app. With reasonable Running apps like Endomondo or Runtastic does not work. Here needs to be the Smartphone in the near!
This is really bad! Here probably need to update the app maker.
4. retrieve emails
New incoming emails are displayed, but you can not open the email app on the SW3. I have disabled notifications for mails on the smartphone, but i want to read it on the watch. That is I can not read about the SW3 mails therefore unfortunately. This was for me a reason to buy, and now is not there ...
5. SW3 use as an alarm clock
I would like to use the SW3 as an alarm clock. However, only with vibration. But my phone is not connected in the near or not with the Watch.
Does not work for me also.
In connection with the fact that the charging jack is really a disaster and very very awkward - I'm considering to send the watch back.
Really a shame because the SW3 would have had huge potential ...
Do you have the same problems or Let us understand this or is it one or the other perhaps solutions?
greeting
Deifel
1. Display activation can not be set:
**Agree. Didn't expect that from a smart watch that is announced as water proof.
2. No Sleep recording and no Lifelog functions
**I use Sleep like a Droid. It works great.
3. GPS smartphone without
**This is the first smart watch with GPS. I'm sure soon all those apps will support it.
4. retrieve emails
**I can read full emails in gmail. Are you using a different client?
5. SW3 use as an alarm clock
** I recharge it in the office. Takes about 30minutes. So I sleep with my watch to monitor my sleep
"In connection with the fact that the charging jack is really a disaster and very very awkward - I'm considering to send the watch back.

** awkward indeed. I'm sure soon we'll see charging docks. I'm considering using the original package box for it. But as i charge it in my Office desk, not a big deal.
lack of lifelog sleep was disappointing (may come later when we get a sw50 sony app?)
I use "sleep as android" (SaA) now as it has native android wear support and seems to work well - compared smartband deepsleep stats vs sw3 with SaA and it seem to match up.

beside that very much enjoy sw3 ~ sideloaded some apps over Bluetooth adb to make watch more usable and fun (launcher, calc, games etc, eve towelroot lol). unlocked bootloader so now eagerly awaiting a rom (or about to learn how to build one)
I thought the usb connection "awkwardness" was just me.. yep it'll slowly drive me nuts if we have to charge these things every 24hrs or so (with my usage anyway) with this horrible connection.. see what happens I guess.
having only had a galaxy gear 1 (both os's + custom roms) that I didnt enjoy I can't really complain about much more rhan above really ~ pleasantly surprised and enjoying thoroughly (4 days in)

You can try the Showear app. But I wouldn't swim with mine. IP68 is good for 1 meter, but when you swim you're pushing water on the watch with a lot more pressure than the stationary pressure at 1 meter that it's rated for.

Getting anywhere between 2-2.5 hours of SOT hours over close to 2 days. Still not used to having a phone with great battery life so I haven't used the screen all that much lol. But I usually just use the browser and listen to music. I game once in a while. Watch short videos on Youtube.
I did pick up about 5 or 6% while it was plugged in to usb, transferring pics and music to and from the phone. So take about 95-ish% of that as the end #
Really, really good. I keep brightness reasonable though, and since my S6 a while back I have a standard regimen of disabling stats collection, unused background syncing in google > accounts, syncing of open tabs and background refreshing in chrome, 'find my device' (which has never worked for me anyway) etc. Those help it sleep better if nothing else. But standby time on this phone is amazing anyway. I maybe lose 1% over night, 2 absolute max and that's probably like 9 to 10 hours while getting lots of notifications + audible alarms. I love it though, making it through 1st FULL day is a given. Question now is will I make it all the way through my 2nd FULL day, and so far it's always made that as well. I charge every other night.
I'm getting closer to 5-6hrs SoT. I wonder why...I have three gmail accts syncing and check stocks via Robinhood and browse. That's about it.

I'm not a fan of Le Eco customer service. It's going back for repeated key strokes. Periodically typing something will result in three or five keystrokes being pressed instead of one. For example typing 'r' results in 'rrrrr'. There are some scratches on the unit, despite the case being on since purchase. I certainly hope they won't knock it for normal wear and tear. It's still within the 15 days.

The 19s update turned of many of the default battery saving features, since people were complaining about notification issues.
Go to the 'Phone Manager' and turn off 'Auto Launch' and 'App Protection' for the apps you don't need constantly syncing.

I am using default keyboard and don't have this issue. Maybe hands shakin a bit? ?
Hi,
I noticed lately that my battery is draining fast. Like 1 percent for 50 minutes (In the best case) when the phone is on airplane mode and I don't touch it at all.
When I actually use the phone it goes down to like 2-3 minutes to 1 percent of battery.
I don't have root at all but used my PC to gain access for Wakelock Detector and as you can see in the pic I got 30 minutes of malwarebytes (I have the premium version with real time protection)
But usually Whatsapp is the one on the top with the most time on CPU
I have a few screenshots of Wakelock Detector in CPU, Wakeup triggers, and kernel wakelock. And almost a screenshot from AccuBattery app. I hope I can get to the solution with your help
Also I heard about AKT that you can get 7-14 screen time hours with it. Can I use it on my device? (of course after I root it)
Thanks in advance

you should uninstall malwarebytes if you want battery drain to stop. malwarebytes is malware by itself
And then, you may want to tweak whatsapp, it consumes too much power

How can I tweak whatsapp?
Btw I noticed that when I close whatsapp my battery is pretty normal so I think whatsapp is the main cause. I got pretty good battery even when malwarebytes was on and whatsapp always seems to take most of the battery bt AccuBattery app.
So 50 minutes for 1% with apps running isn't bad... And I see you're connected to network with two bars on 4G is that LTE or HSPA variant like TMobile does? 2 bars is going to drain your battery because your modem is going to keep trying to get better signal.. none of your screen shots show you in airplane mode as well
I said that I tried to put the phone in airplane mode and even closed all no-system apps with greenify but even then the battery went down 1 percent every 50 minutes.
Btw can resetting the device can work?
If I will choose reset it I will unlock the bootloader and root the phone too
And I still don't know if I can use AKM on my phone with snapdragon 845 after & after the phone is rooted)

Lol I accidentaly commented from another device so it's a different account. Anyway, do you think the problem appears because it's Whatsapp Plus (which has a kind of malware in it which stoles data, but still I decided to keep it because of the features) or it's like that in normal whatsapp too?
If I will root my phone I will be able to find an alternative for the Whatsapp Plus features while using the normal whatsapp from the playstore so just wanted to know if whatsapp has this wakelock problem globaly (Don't know if this is the place, tell me where I can open a thread on it if this isn't the place ?)
So I'm not going to lie... I'm hating this phone.
Camera is awful and now I'm getting massive battery drain.
I was at 100% and unplugged at 2am by 7am without any use at all my battery was down to 89%. I've found the battery stats but it doesn't add up.
Is there anywhere I can see the hardware usage?
So far I've dropped the screen refresh to 60htz, resolution to HD, dark mode on, always on is off, tap and lift to wake are off.... my 2 Yr old phone didn't drop this much!
Can anyone help? I'm really trying to salvage something from this phone but if the camera issue isn't sorted by Samsung and I can't get more than half a day battery out of it I fear this maybe the biggest waste of money ever
so in 30 mins of being unplugged on a full charge, not being touched or used at all the battery has dropped by 3%
Exynos ?
Sent from my a40 using XDA Labs
same here - i dropped rez from 120 FHD to 60 FHD thinking is going to improve but had the same battery life - so it doesnt look like its the refresh rate but rather something in the background - could be phone trying to find a 5g signal - as am outside - DK - still is rubbish
exynos990. can i turn the 5g off?
Samsung unfortunately still failed to optimize its Exynos processor so you have to manually sort everything out .. all the apk that don't need have disabled and ones i use less have put into a deep sleep... 96Hz refresh rate, 70% brightness, sync., location etc.all on ...WiFi/data 80/20%... all under ideal conditions, at home (due to self-isolation) .... and after that it looks like this...S20 Ultra-Exynos

Can you point me on what to do?

Ok..
1. Go to settings >> apps and here you can manually disable almost any app that you do not need...
2. Go to settings >> Device care >> battery >> app power management..
- here you can put the app to deep sleep etc...
...... do this ... for now [emoji3]
So iv installed a battery monitor and the screen is using around 1% every 4 mins. I'm on dark mode, 60hz refresh, auto brightness, HD+
....
Something don't seem rite

I have s20 Exynos 4G and was also shocked by the battery initially. Some things that helped:
- Did a factory reset and setup everything manually, with data moved by Samsung Switch battery was dying in 2.5 hours
- Disabled Edge panel, seems it used location a lot
- Put Facebook into deep sleeping apps
- Turned off AOD
After the above, my phone is reaching 4.5-5 hours SOT, display at [email protected]

I was thinking of the next phone I buy as I doubt if manufacturers like Samsung will debloat their OSs as much as we want, so being able to disable some apps is useful.
I did it on my stock S5 years ago, just one of those things I had forgotten to do on this as it's only a few days old.
