I'm currently on TeamNVDRU CM10 Nightly from the 1st. Battery is at 34% after 9 hrs off charge and 1hr 6min screen on time.
I have tried all underclock, undervolt, battery life tips i can find and the best i can get is about 14hrs on this rom.
I even asked HTC for the price to install the 2100mAH battery in the phone... they came back with $160 which for a 15% boost isn't worth it.
Therefore I am asking the community, which is the best rom for battery life? Sense roms and stock included.
I'm also wondering if there is an app that can collect battery life stats and post them to the web, sort of like antutu but for battery instead of 3d performance. Does such a thing exist? It would be useful for this phone.
My usage profile:
Listening to music ~45 mins each way from work
Gmail push for priority inbox
Microsoft Exchange sync once a day while on charger
Talkbox for communicating with workmates
Viber for texting/calling my girlfriend
Facebook push disabled, notifications disabled
Underclock to 1200, Undervolt -125
Thanks in advance

Hi,
Its well known that AOSP roms' battery is generally lower than sense roms...so if u want a proper battery life...try one of the sense roms...hasnt disappointed me...nearly same set of requirements for me and it has not failed..!! I am using AHRD which is quite good..also try ViperX roms...read a lot about it being real good..!! but havent had the time to try it out myself..!! but generally ARHD or ViperX can help u with ur usage...give them a try and try for like ~1week b4 u come to a conclusion...What i do is to wipe out battery stats when i install a new rom so that the battery is calibrated with the new rom..!!
Hope it helps..!!

I know people still do it but wiping batt stats its pointless. It's been proven it has zero effect

use Blade rom with no-frils app and set cpu to 860 , lasts for one and a half day with regular usage ......
Honestly ?? Stock rom got best battery life. I used Renovate and ARHD, they don't reach even a half of stock lifetime.
I am on TripNDroids releases now for a time (since 017 I guess) and I must say, the battery life is fair. I use my phone often for WhatsApp and surfing/playing around and one battery charge lasts for one day. Although I have set the screen brightness almost to the minimum.
I've tried a few ROMs, but it's the kernels that are making the difference for me, i'd try viperx with faux ultimate kernel if you want good battery life.
And do try repacking the kernel boot.img with the one from the ROM using the repacking tool on the dev section.

Hi, i am running the CM6 final version. and my battery life isn't too great... so i was wondering what would be the steps i could take to a better battery life. well i wanted to start with finding a good kernel that offers superior battery life with decent or higher perfomance. please post any recommendations you have.
Best you search for it buddy because douches on here are going to freak out at you for not searching. There are post everywhere regarding battery life.

You have 2 options for kernels on CM6 besides the stock kernel.
1. Snap - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=733099
2. KingxKernel - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=773058
I'm currently running Snap. The best way for you to find out what's best for you is to try it (Snap or KingxKernel) out.
The cm 6 kernel is all you need. I'm getting 14 hours.

I've already answered your question with my post above. Right now those are your only options unless you want to stick to CM6 stock.

in your opinion, which one gives you greater battery life. i just flashed kingx... the description of it said it was based around "superior battery life" and snap looked like it was based on shear performace. and if i should go with snap. which version would be the best for daily use and good battery life.
I for one am getting fantastic standby battery life with king's kernel and pretty decent in use battery life. Didn't get this good until about the third full cycle.
To be more specific, my phone has been in standby almost the entire day and after 11 hours 45 minutes I am at 86% battery life. I have had push gmail (mail, contacts), facebook syncing (only once daily though), running on my wifi all day, and sent/received a few text messages.

What ROM's are you using and what do you think has the best battery life? I love my DHD but my biggest pain with it is it's battery life, I would love to get around 15 hours of moderate-heavy use out of it, but right now I only get between 8-10 hours of it, I've tried LeeDroid, Revolution and CyanogenMod. Which custom rom do you think is best for battery life?
in my humble opinion i would say CM7... thats after a fresh flash, battery calibration, and one full charge till total discharge (sometimes i like to do it two times just to make sure the bat stats get proper readings)... Maybe its just me but i usuall get around 15-18 hours depending... I would say that i am a medium to heavy user...mainly surf the web, movies, mp3s, text, light emails and of course downloading new roms and themes to flash...
Other than cm7 i find that RCMix and revolution to be pretty decent on battery life
U can always use currency widget to determin power loss and check whats soaking up your power
I'm no expert but so far this has worked for me
i've flashed a few roms over the last few weeks and i must say that they are all pretty decent in terms of battery life. i haven't really noticed one being significantly better than the next.
i can easily kill my phone within 7-8 hours with heavy usage but i can also keep my phone going for about 30 hours with light usage and about 16 hours with moderate usage, using the same rom.
if you asked me, i think it just depends on your style of usage. perhaps this isn't the answer you're looking for but i really don't think there's one rom out there that is going to give you that edge.
If you are looking for battery, use MIUI Freshly squeezed versions...CM7 was my first ROM, I loved it but battery life was terrible.. I could hardly squeeze out 12-13 hours even on low usage..MIUI is great! I easily get 15-20 hrs plus battery on moderate usage(wifi connected most of the time, abt 30 min gaming etc)..I bet if u try u'll see the difference.....
thanks for the replies, I think you're right with how you use it. Going to try MIUI now as well

but i use leedroid_hd_GB_3.0.1
Leedroid's roms always have very good battery life
Also bare in mind the radio you use has a big affect. I used the stock radio from December with Android Revolution when I first flashed it and my battery drain was extremely bad, about 15% an hour. Flashed some new radios and I get at least 18 hours before I hit 30%.
Yup radio plays a very important role.I tried 6-7 different radios before I found the right one.....

If it is not important for you to lose HTC sense, MIUI is nice in spite of the fact that it looks like too much the firmware of the iphone
CM 7.0.0 HAS a bad battery drain but its fixed in the cyanogenmod 7.0.2... now the battery works for a long time.. 24 30 hrs moderate use..
and finally if you are interested for a better battery drain try SETCPU.apk (free for XDA MEMBERS) AND configure your proccessor for a conservative work or setdown de cpu (900 mhz for example)
under my experience with the custom roms leedroid (lastest froyo 2.2.1 with leedroid kernel 2.2.9 at 960 mhz max) was provided the best battery drain
Yup MIUI does look like iOS...That was one of the reason I didn't pay much attention to it at first.
You can always use a good launcher like ADW or Launcher Pro to replace the iOS feel...I personally am a fan of Go Launcher EX...its simple n fast n serves my purpose

ouu!good idea!!! i like miui´s performance but i don´t like his app drawer hahah
Newest Android Revolution HD + matching radio.img and MDJ's kernel v8 and good SetCPU settings makes for a REALLY fast DHD ( 1.6GHz ) and great battery life, a full day with medium to heavy usage from what I've experienced so far.
Used MIUI for the last day, really impressed, except for the iPhoneish feel as been said above. Going to try the setcpu too so I can underclock
I'm using the recommended radio too, which I always make sure I do, I rely on that for improved signal as well, the reception around my place is quite dodgy. Vodafone is Australia's equivalent of AT&T in America in terms of dodgy reception ha
My DHD is now running CyanogenMod7 2.3.5 Nightly and it drains about 1% every two hours idle. I think that's good.
Can anyone make a comparison table?
ARHD 5.2.3............almost 36 hours with regular use here.............24 hours atleast..................

Same here, although needs quicker recharging when using WiFi intensely (after about 12 hours in my case.)
as i think android rev. 5.2.x ,, the greatest bettary life for me
and also i think in general sense 3 roms are very bad in bettary life

Hey Guys,
I've been trying out many roms in the last time and I've noticed that on every Gingerbread rom, the battery drain is much higher than on Froyo roms. That's weird, because I constantly hear of people's battery life getting better after switching to Gingerbread.
On Froyo, the standby consumption is at 5 mA. On Gingerbread it's 75 mA. On Froyo, I can surf the internet for 10 minutes and nothing changes, on Gingerbread the battery would lose 5%. With regular use, when the phone is full in the morning, it's almost every day empty 8 hours later.
I just want to have a Gingerbread Wildfire with decent battery life. I tried many roms, and even on CM7, battery life is horrible. Even on a clean install without any apps. What is going on there? Is it maybe the radio? Or the kernel? Do you experience similar drain?
Maybe CPU?
I dont know if this will help but Gingerbread roms often have overclock settings, have you used the overclock feature because this would most definatly reduce your battery life but otherwise im not too sure but i must say i was using Oxygen (Gingerbread) on my wildfire and the battery life was very bad compared to stock ruu roms, sorry if i didnt help :S
Any idea? Im about to upgrade to the gingerbread.

I know about that, but I don't overclocked my Wildfire. Just because the battery drain is heavy enough on regular CPU speed.

Just upgrade and see yourself, I heard about many Wildfire users with Gingerbread who got better battery performance than on Froyo. Unfortunately, I ain't one of these
After a new flash it's usual to have battery drain. After a few charges it will buff out.

underclocking ur cpu is a propable way to go. actually using conservative governor in cpu settings, may help your battery efficiency. but before doing this, search for a thread concerning this matter. u can always give it a shot and see for yourself, decide later if you want to keep gingerbread or not.
Right. So a friend of my friend made me root his phone a while back and I threw mikg 2.52 on it and all was good. Now the guy contacted me today and said his battery life was in the crapper and wants me to change it to something more battery life favored since he isn't by a charger for a long time throughout the day. And since I have been using the new ics roms and jumping back and forth often I don't really know what to give him now.
So what's your opinions? I need something stable as a rock and best battery possible. I need this to last him a while since I almost never see this guy... Haha
P.s. I know people hate these kind of post. Just bear with me here because I'm meeting this guy tomorrow morning and have to know what I should flash for him. Also no aosp please.
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
You could have him try the one in your sig. It gave me great battery life when I used it, but as always, YMMV. You really have to try them out and see which gives the best battery life for you.
Also could try apps like Juice Defender or similar that aim to optimize battery life.
The only rom i can think of that ive used that doesnt drain your battery would be cm7 or decks gb. Ive used it myself & ive seen good battery life even with my cpu overclocked.
Does it work on viper rom? V2 redline? Thanks! Please let me know
I have the latest MIUI by Swiper, and since 2.2.6, my battery life has been phenomenal with Tiamat kernel 4.1.0, Car-O-Dope tweaks and Vipermod -50.
Phenomenal as in comes off the charger at 6AM and when I get home from work at 5, it's still over 80%

I can confirm this.. ALthough I use 2.3.2 b1 and 3.3.7 sbc kernel as I had some reboot issues with 4.1.0 but yeah.. I'm still at 100 percent at 11:00 am (work at 8).. come home and still at 90. go to bed and hit the charger right above 80. It's unreal.. I consider myself a heavy user too... email, sms, phone calls... etc.
I am currently using Swiper's 2.3.2 b1 with 3.3.7 sbc and have not run into any issues. Battery life is great with this combination for me. Also, keep in mind that I do not run many widgets except an calendar agenda widget.
Myn's Warm series rom's always gave me the best battery life.
i use energy sense 3.5 rom with anthrax kernel. iv had decent battery life w it. about 14 hours or so w moderate use and in and out of roam looking for signal. from what iv read CM7 and MIUI roms are much better with battery life than sense roms. they also seem to be more customizable.

80% at night with heavy use throughout the entire day? I can't believe that. Screenshot? If someone else can validate this, I might try the rom with LEE kernel.

He did mention no AOSP (although AOSP really does have the best battery life IMHO)
Koni's Elite Series III combined with netarchy-toastmod HAVS-less had decent battery life, only issue is that was a Froyo build.
kluster1999: I agree, pic would be awesome.
I don't mean to sound rude, but different ROM and kernel combinations can only make so much of a difference. I'm skeptical of claims of amazing battery life with heavy usage because in the end, the battery is still the same size and the large screen still draws a lot of power.
Been having great Battery life with "The Exress" using" Lionfish more" kernnal and smurfed out....
Hi
Im going to summer camp and I can be long time without power. So I need best rom, kernel, and maybe radio for my Desire hd. I need rom with camera. Plz tell me wich compilaton have best battery life.
My 1st post, sorry for my bad english
In before someone scolds you for not searching
Radio is subjective to area.
A rom with great battery life without changing anything could be either black ice or gb rd miui. Both are close in battery life, and from all the roms miui has the best cam in my opinion.
Unless you are willing to buy a cam from the market.
Your best option is to test a few roms out for a few days. Get additional batteries cause no rom will go beyond a day with heavy use. On standby you would get two days, maybe more.
Edit: however I've seen some screenshots here and there of people with crazy bat stats. A few, but there are a few.
You can also look into v6 supercharger, there may be something there for you.
Sent from a dream.
I use Cyanogenmod 7.2.0-RC2 with LordModUE 8.9b7-CFS kernel, and it has a really great battery life.
My radio is 12.65.60.29U_26.14.04.28_M
I have set cpu governer to smartassv2, with min frequence to 122MHz and max to 1152MHz.
With these settings, the ROM runs smoothly without any lag, and I get about 24h of battery life if I use the phone normally: music (2h), call (1h), internet (?), GPS+Endomondo app (~1h30), Wifi (1h)
