Who else is experiencing the msm_hsic_host wakelock in large quantities? - Sprint LG Optimus G

So this is a pretty big issue with the Nexus 4 crowed, as well as the Droid DNA. The common thing... the Snapdragon S4 Pro processor.
Here is a link to a large thread over in the N4 section with those experiencing the issues
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1999368
Supposedly, there is a fix out, but we dont have access to it yet.
To observe your wakelocks, you can go here and download BetterBatteryStats, links to the APKs are in the 2nd post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809
The wakelock occurs the most on 3G/4G data. From what I understand, its any time the phone uses the radio to send/receive data. Generally, BBS reports anywhere between 10-30% on my phone depending on how much time I spend off WIFI.

Yeah I noticed the same thing but basically only found things on the n4 forums like you did. Not sure there is much more info.

I have those as well bet if those wakelocks were fixed we would have much better battery life.
I used these tweaks and they seem to help not sure if it's placebo or what but anyway try adding this to your build prop:
#Power Saving Tweaks
wifi.supplicant_scan_interval=180
pm.sleep_mode=1
ro.ril.disable.power.collapse=0

Im guessing you need to be rooted/unlocked for that?

i havent had that issue, granted i have all auto syncs disabled other than contacts. facebook and everything is turned off

i highly recommend using jokersax's kernel in the development section of this forum. his kernel has pretty much fixed the issue, u usually get maybe an hour if even of the wakelock after having the phone on for 9+

Damn, I really love the Bricked kernel. It's soo smooth and the sweep2wake feature is SO damn awesome.
Guess I'll just have to charge my phone a bit extra for a while, until Google gets a fix in place. I see this happening on my Nexus 10 too. But that has such a big battery that it doesn't really matter.

i dont think we can use n4 kernels unless they are ported over to our device

TweetCaster causing serious heating??

Ok, I just want to see if anyone else is having this problem. Ive found that tweetcaster on any ICS rom ive tried seems to cause major heating. I know ICS leaked builds have had this issue in general, but I just want to know if anyone else is encounteering the same problem.
Cpu usage gets to about 47% and then the phone will get super hot, and then of course battery takes a nose dive. I hate to switch twitter apps, but its the best one out there for most. any input from people that are using it.

Yes, that is a known issue. I get it as well. This question was answered (asked by me) on PhantomPhreak's CM10 forum (page 460). But yes, Chris is aware of this.
anyone try notasbroken?
10/17 is a no go as of right now guess we wait for 10/18
Then again no one said how they flashed it..maybe a fresh flash won't let it boot but a dirty flash will?? Maybe something that's in an older build will let it boot..just food for thought.
Random note in aosp ROMs my downloads r slow compared to touchwiz and I read around other people experience this also..and I can confirm cm7 doesn't have this problem..only cm9 and cm10

Eliminate Some Screen Wake lag - CR4.7 B6 Base

mikeyxda came up with tweak that eliminates screen wakelag.
I did a lot of research on that and it's not so easy to answer. Generally, I believe battery will be no worse and possibly better. Google location services, alarms, widgets, push mail, and many other processes end up waking up 99% of phones at least once every 3 minutes anyway and the deep-sleep-->awake-->deep sleep cycles actually consume more power than letting the processor(s) stay awake. On my phone for example, Google location services alone woke the phone 20 times/hr (every 3 minutes) and that's with GPS turned off and no navigation or map activities running! Add a weather widget here, a push mail app there, and I found that my phone was bouncing in and out of deep sleep more than a hundred times an hour! Better (on both battery and circuitry) to just idle at that point. With only one CPU awake with screen off, the radio will draw more power than the CPU idling. Most people don't realize that the screen and radio eat orders of magnitude more power than (especially an idling) CPU, so idling one CPU will have little effect on battery. That said, I suppose if you put your phone in airplane mode and maybe froze a bunch of other apps that wake the phone, maybe battery would be worse with the ZeroWakeLag wakelock and the phone would do better in deep sleep. Reality is: we don't use our phones that way.

No improvement on wake for me at all, but got a terrible drop in battery. Used the revert and all is well again.

Normally no...if the phone is not used at all and screen off. Of course that also depends on how many widgets you have and how often you get updates among a whole slew of other things (such as wifi, bt, gps always on, custom roms, signal strength, etc). I would recommend Better Battery Stats as it can help you pinpoint what is draining your battery the most and if there are any wakelock issues.

It's actually probably best to let this thread die, because as you said people are getting defensive or as you are claiming kernels are lagging. Saber is an outstanding kernel and I had zero lag and ptmr3 is a great dev and constantly improving his work.
I love PBJ too and actually tend to use it when I'm on a custom kernel maybe partially from nostalgia of the charge. Having said that I find stock is the best for me and I get zero lag.
Here's why, kernels are a funny thing what is great for your phone may be not so great on my phone. I have an example above, but another is trinity kernel bootloops me every time and I can't use it, but many users seat by it. So I believe you that you had you tube lag on Saber and I believe the other guy that he had none. Either way this thread is going to spiral into bashing the work a dev donated to the community very quickly, so it's best to just let it die.

I'm not sure if you meant to say I was getting defensive about SaberKernel? I just gave my opinion the same way you did, just because you have a problem doesnt mean I have it, just saying. And Im glad there are many choices of kernels, that its always good.

Oh I know many did has great success. But I also know my personal experience of 4cards dead. I also seen so many people complain about it. It was done as use at ur own risk.
Where can we find this kernel? Been searching and can't seem to find it.

Confirmed. Had choppy YouTube audio on Jedi master 17. Installed tweaked today with pbj and not choppy anymore. Thanks for the tip man. I really appreciate it. It was driving me crazy.

Awesome to hear that. Not only the audio, but also the video. Trust me. I challenge anyone to flash the pbj kernel with tweaked, and I guarantee you, you'll see what I'm talking about.

I see that someone already left a link, but I flashed it during the flashing of tweaked ROM. Its like aroma installer. 2 seperatea zip files. Gotta read the instructions in tweaked thread.
I literally didn't even bother flashing it with the separate aroma installer file, until I saw that someone said pbj kernel is great on battery.
