$$$ CM10 Nightly (Chris41g/PhantomPhreak53/Sbrissen) $$$ - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

You can discuss anything related to a CM10 nightly whether it be from Chris41g, PhantomPhreak53 or Sbrissen.
Obviously you must be specific and name which ROM you are running and along with the file name so we all know what your talking about.

not a problem what r u running ?

I'm running round and round I get little flickers on pages when they refresh? Also GPS points north when I'm looking south lol makes sky maps hard to read. Other than that doing pretty good hopefully battery will settle a bit like it did on 10/02 nightly.

I'm getting an issue where when i check for battery stats it tells me that battery usage data is unavailable. I'd that a known issue?

Yes, that is a known issue. I get it as well. This question was answered (asked by me) on PhantomPhreak's CM10 forum (page 460). But yes, Chris is aware of this.

anyone try notasbroken?

10/17 is a no go as of right now guess we wait for 10/18
Then again no one said how they flashed it..maybe a fresh flash won't let it boot but a dirty flash will?? Maybe something that's in an older build will let it boot..just food for thought.
Random note in aosp ROMs my downloads r slow compared to touchwiz and I read around other people experience this also..and I can confirm cm7 doesn't have this problem..only cm9 and cm10

I've experienced two random reboots since flashing roundnround. Just wanted to let you know you're not the only one.

Anyone know the status of SBrissen's AOSP rom? Hasn't been a test build in a month now. Just curious

No Radios work since Won't Work and What's Next right?
DERP I didn't see the changelog :cyclops:

[Video] CyanogenMod 9 - SGII demoed

Caught this trolling the social webs tonight:

Apols, not enough posts to add url's, suppose there is a lesson about longtime lurking in there somewhere.
Demonstrates some core features but not all.

Pretty nice, cant wait for epic 4g touch variant.
Wow, that looks slick.
Btw, it's awesome that Codeworkx could make a demo video of a non-public Rom without using "Let the Bodies Hit The Floor" or "Soar" as the background music, as is much too commonplace these days. Awesome track.

Early build of CM9, seems reasonable that they haven't changed all the branding yet.
I wonder if they'll beat the official GSII ICS release from Samsung? They've got 100 days (or less).

They're pretty far along, its my understanding the only main issue now is the ril is unstable, but its also unstable in Samsungs beta leak.

Very cool. I don't think we'll be getting CM9 anytime sooner than Sammy's ICS update. (I hope I'm wrong ) The kernel they release will have a lot of the drivers necessary to get the ICS kernel up and running. I know the phones are pretty similar but there a re a few differences.
Are we even certain that CM9 is coming to our phone due to the 911 bug? Since the bug is in Bubby's CM7 Rom as well as T.C.P's MIUI Rom I am guessing our phone will have the same issue as the other Sammy phone they dropped support for...

[Q] Is there any Inverted Gapps that are bug free?

I've been trying to find a few that work without a problem and thus far I've only found a few apks like phonesky and mms and talk.
Anyone have some more/ a comprehensive package?
oh and does anyone think this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1797717
will suffice?
Oh and does phone.apk have any bearing on calling?
Like does it affect quality and buggy-ness or is it just the user interface?

[Off Topic] Rants/Trolls/???

Figured I open this new fishing lure to vent out anything that needs to be said without judgement or complaining. So if you have something you need to get off your chest do, it here...
Don't matter the topic or subject, just take the 2 minutes it would take to type it out and bash someone that obviously owes you nothing and express it here. Don't mention Dev/Rom but have at it and keep it PG-13 as possible. Could be an app that has you busting your head open, a mod or tweak... doesn't matter.Bring it here. Either ICS or JB. Makes no difference. If you have a issue that maybe someone else can help you out on, and they actually do just be kind enough to atleast say thank you. So have bout it!!!!
I'm super pissed that people can't just stop complaining about things that work pretty flawless. People argue ICS is more stable than JB. I find this to be incorrect. If that were the case, I haven't had an SOD or RR since September 18th. ICS is just an outdated OS as far as a technical stand point.

I'm disappointed with the newest LiquidSmooth ROM release, the RC8. It has numerous bugs that need to be sorted out, the first post in the thread for it isn't very organized (yes yes, I know reading the post would lead to less bricks, but nonetheless) and the changelog hasn't been updated for weeks. RC7 was quite perfect as it was. The RC8 could have waited until a changelog was finalized, posted, the bugs were worked out a bit better and the OP was at hand to address the issues.
(On the good side, RC7 is my favourite ROM yet by far. I'm only disappointed because I'm holding liquid up to the highest standard)
Yes, I know; no names/devs. But can't be that ambiguous.

Great article man the truth for real!!!
The purpose of the link is to reiterate the fact that a) in the start of all of this, the originals did this for the rush of making something better than what was published. b) the steady request of donations. Truthfully, those guys never asked for a penny. But now everyone asks for donations. Lol!!! c) none of the software released by devs its official firmware. Its all mods, tweaks, build prop adds but nonetheless is all for testing purpose. So why in ****s sake does anyone complain. Instead of complaining, build or create something better. As the link included says, the originals learned code. They built from scratch.
Now that's no me saying I'm a Dev or a "kanger". I'm deff not but I do read. Is it not frustrating enough to read every single thread and pages upon pages of ppl steady saying g how bad **** is? Wtf, if you don't like it well don't freaking use it. Either way that's my some what of a rant

Who else is experiencing the msm_hsic_host wakelock in large quantities?

So this is a pretty big issue with the Nexus 4 crowed, as well as the Droid DNA. The common thing... the Snapdragon S4 Pro processor.
Here is a link to a large thread over in the N4 section with those experiencing the issues
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1999368
Supposedly, there is a fix out, but we dont have access to it yet.
To observe your wakelocks, you can go here and download BetterBatteryStats, links to the APKs are in the 2nd post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809
The wakelock occurs the most on 3G/4G data. From what I understand, its any time the phone uses the radio to send/receive data. Generally, BBS reports anywhere between 10-30% on my phone depending on how much time I spend off WIFI.
Yeah I noticed the same thing but basically only found things on the n4 forums like you did. Not sure there is much more info.
Sent from my LG-LS970 using xda premium
I have those as well bet if those wakelocks were fixed we would have much better battery life.
I used these tweaks and they seem to help not sure if it's placebo or what but anyway try adding this to your build prop:
#Power Saving Tweaks
wifi.supplicant_scan_interval=180
pm.sleep_mode=1
ro.ril.disable.power.collapse=0

i highly recommend using jokersax's kernel in the development section of this forum. his kernel has pretty much fixed the issue, u usually get maybe an hour if even of the wakelock after having the phone on for 9+
Damn, I really love the Bricked kernel. It's soo smooth and the sweep2wake feature is SO damn awesome.
Guess I'll just have to charge my phone a bit extra for a while, until Google gets a fix in place. I see this happening on my Nexus 10 too. But that has such a big battery that it doesn't really matter.
i dont think we can use n4 kernels unless they are ported over to our device

Description
Enjoy the speed of Vanir but want all of AOKP's great features? Give this a try. I built AOKP on top of Vanir's excellent Linaro system. All credit to those teams, I simply did the leg work to make everything play nice. I will update this frequently but not committing to "nightlies". Please keep the thread positive and leave out the drama. Feel free to ask anything, I simply ask that you take a minute and look for your answer first.
Features
- anything merged in AOKP
- uses Vanir's camera/gallery (keep in mind Gapps normally wipes this out)
- uses Team Baked's Mms.apk

I'm having two problems on this rom for some reason. I'm getting lockups in Chrome browser, the second time I did a battery pull because of it I had to re enter my password for Chrome. I also will be around 50+ battery life, reboot and I'm down to 15%. It's there any way I can find out what's causing this?

I'm having two problems on this rom for some reason. I'm getting lockups in Chrome browser, the second time I did a battery pull because of it I had to re enter my password for Chrome. I don't use Chrome so I can't speak to issues with it. A logcat could help though. The stock kernel is pretty extreme on some settings as well so possibly switch the kernel or tweak the settings. I'll probably be going to Lean Kernel in future releases just for stability but still highly suggest AK kernel.
As far as the weird battery stats, that happens on all roms from time to time. If you reboot again it will possibly go back to normal. It doesn't happen often but it does happen, especially on a lookup or hard reboot.
Bump ....

There doesn't seem to be much interest over here for this so I won't keep up the op. This is still being updated if you know where to look.

I'm still definitely interested, where do I find it?

Rootz
Thanks
Hey akellar, the radios in your ROM seem to work a lot better than most ROMs I've tried. Are you tweaking anything for this, that you are aware of?

Radios are not included in roms.
You're imagining a correlation.

I am not imaging anything, I am making an assumption based on visual evidence.

Its a different SignalStrength.java that reports signal differently. Just a placebo.

OK, so I again need to assume an app like WiFi analyser will give me accurate signal information?

Sure.
Why do you need an "exact" representation?
If you have signal...you have service.

The latest radios is really bad. If I can improve it that would be great

What do you plan on doing to improve the radios? The only change is the way the system determines bars from the dBm measurement. Roms don't impact signal. And radios can't be altered.
The audio on this Rom is much softer than rootbox or some others I tried. Am I missing something? I set up noxide as usual, but just not the same performance from the sound.
Rom is sick otherwise though.
