[Off Topic] Rants/Trolls/??? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

Figured I open this new fishing lure to vent out anything that needs to be said without judgement or complaining. So if you have something you need to get off your chest do, it here...
Don't matter the topic or subject, just take the 2 minutes it would take to type it out and bash someone that obviously owes you nothing and express it here. Don't mention Dev/Rom but have at it and keep it PG-13 as possible. Could be an app that has you busting your head open, a mod or tweak... doesn't matter.Bring it here. Either ICS or JB. Makes no difference. If you have a issue that maybe someone else can help you out on, and they actually do just be kind enough to atleast say thank you. So have bout it!!!!

I'm super pissed that people can't just stop complaining about things that work pretty flawless. People argue ICS is more stable than JB. I find this to be incorrect. If that were the case, I haven't had an SOD or RR since September 18th. ICS is just an outdated OS as far as a technical stand point.

+1... The ICS stability advantage is over and gone. ZERO reason not to be JB these days.

Still one advantage to ICS and that's battery life. Slapped Darkside Evolution v8 back on the other day just for hahas and got a sweet 4 hours and 12 minutes of screen on time. I'd be lucky if I got 2/3rds of that on CM10. If anyone has got any tips for me PM me cuz I have seen some of you with awesome battery life.

CM10 has always been a battery hog for me as compared to AOKP. AOSP Liquid RC7 with tweaks, CPUSleeper and flapjack kernel gives unbelievable speeds and battery times. I'll have to do a battery drain test throughout the day once I hit full charge.

Thanks dude. Looking forward to your results. I want to stay on JB but ICS is giving me much better battery life. In the end, that is what's most important after all. :-/
Even now I'm on WiFi just chilling at home. I'm sitting at 82% after 2 and a half hours with only 46 minutes of screen on time. You can imagine how much worse it is on mobile network without an ounce of WiFi :'(

I'm disappointed with the newest LiquidSmooth ROM release, the RC8. It has numerous bugs that need to be sorted out, the first post in the thread for it isn't very organized (yes yes, I know reading the post would lead to less bricks, but nonetheless) and the changelog hasn't been updated for weeks. RC7 was quite perfect as it was. The RC8 could have waited until a changelog was finalized, posted, the bugs were worked out a bit better and the OP was at hand to address the issues.
(On the good side, RC7 is my favourite ROM yet by far. I'm only disappointed because I'm holding liquid up to the highest standard)
Yes, I know; no names/devs. But can't be that ambiguous.

Great article man the truth for real!!!

The purpose of the link is to reiterate the fact that a) in the start of all of this, the originals did this for the rush of making something better than what was published. b) the steady request of donations. Truthfully, those guys never asked for a penny. But now everyone asks for donations. Lol!!! c) none of the software released by devs its official firmware. Its all mods, tweaks, build prop adds but nonetheless is all for testing purpose. So why in ****s sake does anyone complain. Instead of complaining, build or create something better. As the link included says, the originals learned code. They built from scratch.
Now that's no me saying I'm a Dev or a "kanger". I'm deff not but I do read. Is it not frustrating enough to read every single thread and pages upon pages of ppl steady saying g how bad **** is? Wtf, if you don't like it well don't freaking use it. Either way that's my some what of a rant

My fav touchwiz is Jedi and I don't really know why, it must be a mysterious Jedi skill, and cm ROM will conclude this post with guru. Try them all guys. It supposedly makes the rom smoother and manages ram better. Can tell you that there are several threads discussing whether or not it is worth it. My opinion is that it is not at this time. The rom and the phone compliment each other very well.

With 2gigs of ram, and an already efficient rom... It is hard to see how v6 is beneficial at this time. If you read zeppelins thread... V8 is under development and testing... Maybe that'll bring something beneficial... Time will tell...

Hmm, maybe someone with experience using this should benchmark it on a Modern ROM and let us know what the results are. I've seen people swear by it in the past, but have never seen much in the way of the results backing it up *Grin*.

V6 seemed to help on the OG epic.. I haven't attempted on this phone due to (as what is stated already) us having enough Ram to compensate. The OG epic was slightly lacking in that department lol
I use v6 on every ROM I run. When I first looked at the OOM settings on this phone they were so low nothing ever got killed until a few hours later. At first I thought v6 wouldn't make a difference like it did on my Evo because this phone has plenty of RAM but I feel like it did after running the script.

Opinions On Best Rom (Battery/Performance)

Hey everyone, I will be getting this phone (T989D Koodo) in the next few days and have a question.
I am coming from the LG Optimus One, a lower end smart phone. This will be my first 'major/higher end' phone.
I mainly use my phone for the essentials; texting, talking (and Camera now that I have a good one lol), and a bit of social media.
I don't play games on my phone. My phone will come with 4.0.4. I prefer stable roms with basically everything working.
What roms/kernels would everyone suggest for me? Focusing on battery life, but not decreasing performance to laggy.
Thank you in advance.
Edit: Thought I posted this in a different area(general). Mods please move to appropriate area.

I'd try the Plain Jane ICS ROM for stability and speed. It's beautiful and minimal with performance tweaks. I personally use the MIUI ICS ROM. A lot of people are having sound quality issues in phone calls, but I have none of these issues. I have yet to jump to JB.
Good luck

Honestly, I'd recommend CM9 if you want solid performance and everything working properly while keeping solid battery life. It doesn't have a few of the bells and whistles that Touchwiz ROM's have, but the performance and stability are amazing.
However, if you'd prefer using a TW ROM, try out any of the 4.0 ROM's. 4.1 is neat, but still has problems no matter which one you go with. As for which one of those ROM's... I can't really say that any of them truly shines above another, so the best thing you can do is look for a highly rated/used one and try that out. Worst case scenario, you end up trying a different one instead.

First off, I'm not saying one devs work is better than the other. They all work dang hard for sure.
As far as ur preferences, mine are exactly identical and from personal taste I like jovy's darthstalker. Battery is great, its very stable and very smooth. With the same uses I average about 16 hours before needing a charge. I haven't had a chance to flash version 4 and play with it yet as I'm still enjoying version 3. Other than that, you can always flash all the roms and pick one that suits ur needs...cuz that's what I did. Good luck bud.

Where are all the AeonFluxx people going?? :)

Well seems our man MikHail has gotten himself a job and stopped support for his AeonFluxx ROM and locked up the thread
This is the 2nd time a ROM I loved has lost its dev(Kyan was the 1st), so its off to look for a new ROM and I wondered where my peeps from Aeon are heading, birds of a feather and all lol... I'm all about performance and good battery minus the bling or dev injected themes which both Aeon and Kyan were also built on so I was wondering what good, stable, non-buggy ROM, performance enhanced and good battery life have you guys found??
PS:Thanks Mik for all your hard work, Dude you had one hell of a ROM there!!
