[Q] Q|**HELP** icant do software update after relock boot loader - HTC One X

hey all XDA members
sry for my bad English
I was a custom rom and I change it to the HTC original one (with my nandroid backup) then I relock my boot loader and try to upgrade officially to 4.0.4 from 4.0.3 I click update and then the phone shut off and go to thr bootloader
what I can do to update my officially HTC rom
plz help me guys

If you are on stock there is no need to relock the bootloader .... You restored a nandroid that was taken with a custom recovery, my guess is that you did not flash back the stock recovery !

Can you do a fastboot command
Fastboot getvar version-main
And post the result please, i get you the stock recovery
---------- Post added at 11:02 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:45 PM ----------
If the version starts with 1.29 you need this stock recovery
http://www.androidrevolution.nl/ARHD/index.php?dir=OneX/Recovery/
If your version starts with 2.17 you need this one

yes here is it
C:\fastboot>Fastboot getvar version-main
version-main: 1.29.461.11
finished. total time: 0.094s
C:\fastboot>

Then you have to download the 1.29 recovery from the first link i have you
Flash it and it should be fine
If your bootloader is locked now you have to relock it
Put the unlock_code.bin file and the recovery in the fastboot folder and do the commands with the phone in the fastboot usb mode
Fastboot flash unlocktoken unlock_code.bin
It will unlock the bootloader and then
Fastboot erase cache
Fastboot flash recovery "name of the recovery".img
Fastboot erase cache
After that try to update again. You can keep the bootloader unlocked

How to flash with recovery .?

You can't flash it with the recovery it has to be done manually with fastboot commands, see my post above yours
And how is your battery holding up, enough power, otherwise recharge it first to full before you start. If you end up with problems you have at least a full battery to solve it

If you have a HTC one XL you are in the wrong forum, you have to go to the AT&T ,rogers, HTC one XL forum........hold the volume - button and the power button until it restarts in the bootloader, it will be written there if its locked, unlocked or relocked. And it will probably say EVITA at the top, this forum is for the ENDEAVORU type phone. If it says EVITA do not flash anything from here you might cause a brick !

stuck on HTC quietly brilliant screen :(

I have just tried to do a restore from a backed up rom using recovery and it wont go past the HTC logo screen.
I have wiped all settings but still no luck
Help needed please
Go into bootloader mode (vol down + power), fastboot, type 'fastboot erase cache' 'fastboot reboot-bootloader', and then reboot.
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
So you have re-locked the bootloader and have a stock recovery right? Try erasing the cache in fastboot.
I think the command is "fastboot erase cache" but I'm not 100% sure on the command.
NVM, UnlockedNand has got this one.
Cheers guys
just tried it and no go sorry
My bootloader is unlocked
Flash a new boot.img according to the rom you are flashing. Superwipe, and then flash the rom.

This is the exact solution which worked. I was stuck after I unlocked my Sprint HTC Evo 3D via htcdev.com. I did these steps:
1. "fastboot flash boot boot.img" (extracted from Cool ICS rom)
2. Wiped everything including partitions using 4EXT
3. Installed Cool ICS rom
Thanks!!!
tried flashing jb hd revolution rom and now stuck here.
force restart takes me here and hold vol down does nothing?

I try several custom ROM-s (Clean, Android Revolution HD, ...)

You cant flash any JB rom because your hboot do not support them. Only the aosp roms probably work like CM10. I suggest you update your hboot first to JB
Do the fastboot command
Fastboot getvar version-main
Fastboot oem readcid
Post them back and i provide 2 options to update the hboot

You can do this :
Download this file
http://androidfiles.org/ruu/securek...Radio_2.1204.135.20_release_274900_signed.exe
Put the phone in the bootloader and lock it
Fastboot oem lock
It will reboot and there will be some warning sign in the bootloader, keep it there and execute the RUU from the PC with admin rights. Click the ruu.exe with the right mousebutton and select
Run as admin (or similar command)
Note : this will flash the phone to full stock. After the ruu you boot into the phone and check manually for updates to JB !
Second option :
Go here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1957376
Download the firmware package for your CID and rename it to firmware.zip
Put the phone in the bootloader and lock it
Fastboot oem lock
Then perform the next commands
Fastboot oem rebootRUU (bootloader reboots)
Fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
This will update the hboot only .....
After this you unlock the bootloader again and flash the custom recovery, flash the boot.img from the Rom and do a new clean install of the rom
I'm waiting for RUU to download

[Q] messing up an upgrade

hello,
I seem to mess up all the guides of flashing JB.
My HOX has cid HTC_044 , HBOOT 0.43, currently running Revolution 9.7.2, recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.4.0 recovery.
is there an easy/direct way to upgrade the HBOOT and the Rom to Revolution v18 ?
Also I tried that video tutorial but I got lost with all the Unlocking and Relocking.
I have a disability and pressing multiple buttons not easy for me so I'll really appreciate a step by step explanation.
Thank You.
Do you know fastboot commands to interact with the pc to the hox ?
If yes you can put the phone in fastboot usb mode with the fastboot command from pc

or

The phone should restart to the bootloader, then you can type the commands
Fastboot getvar version-main
And
Fastboot oem readcid

That's correct but i wanted to let him update official because when he updated to JB he can make a clean nandroid backup of his JB stock rom, this way its easier to go back to stock when he wants that, or when he has to update again

Update:
No, it didn't work!
That tool sent me to a link to download RUU but I don't know which one...
I tried RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_S_hTC_Asia_WWE_2.17.707.3_Radio_2.1204.135.20_release_278245_signed but it failed, my phone didn't even reboot.
As far as I know you need to reflash the stock recovery.img and boot.img provided in the rom.zip before the RUU will work.
I don't know if this is the same scenario, so I'm just throwing in a suggestion.

RUU will automatically flash all of those. All you need to have is locked bootloader.
Are you sure?
First I tried it normally with relocked bootloader, and it didn't work.
Second time I read somewhere about flashing recovery.img and boot.img from the rom.zip that appears somewhere in AppData when you start the RUU. relocked bootloader again afterwards.
Suddenly the RUU worked, so... I could have done something that I didn't know of that I was doing it, or it was simply because of the recovery.img and boot.img.
I got my HTC One X for about 3 weeks now, so I'm not really experienced or whatever. Just really curious about how Android devices work, since I'm also a 'barely-passed-noob-phase developer'.
so, how do I re-lock it?
and what is the right RUU for me?
The RUU Mr Hofs provided is the right one.
He also told that 'fastboot oem lock' is the command to get the bootloader relocked again.
What I did was:
(Starting off with an unlocked bootloader via htcdev)
Go into fastboot mode (which is done by holding volume-down and pressing power button, or running the adb command 'adb reboot bootloader') and run the following 5 commands:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot oem lock
Run the RUU.
The boot.img and recovery.img for the RUU that Mr Hofs specified are in here: http://db.tt/lpQ8d3Vw
Yet I still don't know if this is the correct procedure for it to make the RUU run normally, but this is all I did to get mine working.
Good luck .
All info is correct !!! The ruu is correct and you ONLY need to RELOCK the bootloader ! The fastboot command is mentioned numerous times now
And please right click the ruu to select,
RUN WITH ADMINISTRATOR RIGHTS !
and please put the phone in FASTBOOT USB before running the ruu !
will try it.
Thanks!
but how do I root it again after?
is there a rooting guide for HOX JB ?
sorry for the stupid question..

Then you can do it with a nandroid backup !
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1975140
Go there and download the matching nandroid of your cid and main. I just checked, its there !
You need to flash the boot.img from the nandroid and unpack the nandroid to the phones sdcard then perform a full wipe and restore the nandroid.
Last step is to flash back the stock 2.17 recovery.
If the battery is above 10% you can still flash !
Nd please read the OP carefully, it contains good info
recovery is also not working

put the phone in the bootloader and relock it :

Keep the phone in the relocked bootloader and execute the RUU.exe by clicking it with the right mouse button and select :
run as administrator
after that you keep the phone in the bootloader and flash this firmware :
http://arhd.onedroid.net/db_mirror/Firmware/HTC/HTC_One_X/401/3.14.401.31.zip
You copy the zip file to the fastboot folder on the pc and rename the file to firmware.zip
Then flash it via the commandprompt with these commands :
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip firmware.zip (maybe its needed twice, check the outcome in the commandprompt)
Then re-unlock the bootloader and flash a new custom recovery and install a fresh new rom !

I would start on giving me some info if it all worked
https://www.dropbox.com/s/yqzlpqo8illa53j/Philz recovery 5.15.9.img
That recovery works great for me.......and a rom, well that's personal choice. Browse around in this part of the one X forum and pick one you would like.
sir
do i have to use fastboot for recovery image?

alright......download this RUU :
http://htc.vi8.info/hTC-One-X/RUU_E...Radio_2.1204.135.20_release_274900_signed.exe
put the phone in the bootloader and relock it :
fastboot oem lock
Enjoy
