hello,
I seem to mess up all the guides of flashing JB.
My HOX has cid HTC_044 , HBOOT 0.43, currently running Revolution 9.7.2, recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.4.0 recovery.
is there an easy/direct way to upgrade the HBOOT and the Rom to Revolution v18 ?
Also I tried that video tutorial but I got lost with all the Unlocking and Relocking.
I have a disability and pressing multiple buttons not easy for me so I'll really appreciate a step by step explanation.
Thank You.
Do you know fastboot commands to interact with the pc to the hox ?
If yes you can put the phone in fastboot usb mode with the fastboot command from pc
Fastboot reboot bootloader
or
Adb reboot bootloader
The phone should restart to the bootloader, then you can type the commands
Fastboot getvar version-main
And
Fastboot oem readcid
Post the results here please....

OKAY
Oke download this RUU
http://www.htcruu.com/securekey.php...Radio_2.1204.135.20_release_278245_signed.exe
put the phone in fastboot usb mode again and do this command
Fastboot oem lock
This will relock the bootloader and give a warning sign, that's normal, keep the phone in fastboot usb mode and execute the RUU from the pc WITH admin rights !
This will bring the phone back to stock ICS android 4.0.4 from there you can upgrade officially to JB !
Note : this will wipe the entire phone including sdcard !!!

That's correct but i wanted to let him update official because when he updated to JB he can make a clean nandroid backup of his JB stock rom, this way its easier to go back to stock when he wants that, or when he has to update again
Thank you all!
Guess it worked ?

Update:
No, it didn't work!
That tool sent me to a link to download RUU but I don't know which one...
I tried RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_S_hTC_Asia_WWE_2.17.707.3_Radio_2.1204.135.20_release_278245_signed but it failed, my phone didn't even reboot.
As far as I know you need to reflash the stock recovery.img and boot.img provided in the rom.zip before the RUU will work.
I don't know if this is the same scenario, so I'm just throwing in a suggestion.

RUU will automatically flash all of those. All you need to have is locked bootloader.
Are you sure?
First I tried it normally with relocked bootloader, and it didn't work.
Second time I read somewhere about flashing recovery.img and boot.img from the rom.zip that appears somewhere in AppData when you start the RUU. relocked bootloader again afterwards.
Suddenly the RUU worked, so... I could have done something that I didn't know of that I was doing it, or it was simply because of the recovery.img and boot.img.
I got my HTC One X for about 3 weeks now, so I'm not really experienced or whatever. Just really curious about how Android devices work, since I'm also a 'barely-passed-noob-phase developer'.
so, how do I re-lock it?
and what is the right RUU for me?
The RUU Mr Hofs provided is the right one.
He also told that 'fastboot oem lock' is the command to get the bootloader relocked again.
What I did was:
(Starting off with an unlocked bootloader via htcdev)
Go into fastboot mode (which is done by holding volume-down and pressing power button, or running the adb command 'adb reboot bootloader') and run the following 5 commands:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot oem lock
Run the RUU.
The boot.img and recovery.img for the RUU that Mr Hofs specified are in here: http://db.tt/lpQ8d3Vw
Yet I still don't know if this is the correct procedure for it to make the RUU run normally, but this is all I did to get mine working.
Good luck .
All info is correct !!! The ruu is correct and you ONLY need to RELOCK the bootloader ! The fastboot command is mentioned numerous times now
And please right click the ruu to select,
RUN WITH ADMINISTRATOR RIGHTS !
and please put the phone in FASTBOOT USB before running the ruu !
will try it.
Thanks!
but how do I root it again after?
is there a rooting guide for HOX JB ?
sorry for the stupid question..

hi,probably i do a mistake.
I unlocked the bootloader but after(i'm a donkey) I "flashed" boot.ing of insert coin without root and now the hox is blocked on "htc quietly brillant"
how can i solve this problem?
thanks
p.s sorry for my bad english
Be in bootloader again in fastboot mode,
type fastboot erase cache. If it is not working then,
Do you know your cid or software version no. ?
Search for the stock boot.img and reflash it.
Or if you do that because you want to be rooted, then go to this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1577671
thanks for reply.
My version is the official and last 4.0.3 for no brand(Italian)
i can turn off hox but after 4/5 second it start again
what can i do?
How do you flash the insert coin's boot.img at the first place ?
Believe you press volume down + power to go to bootloader, do the same thing again and do what I said before.

So, here is my question:
If I want to upgrade my Hboot, I need to flash stock (ICS) RUU first and then flash new firmware. I did this when I upgraded to 1.23. But now when I need to upgrade to 1.28 It says "relocked" and below "security warning". Only thing that helped me before was flashing stock RUU (ICS). But now I can not flash ICS RUU. Is there anything I can do except waiting stock JB stock RUU? Like, will it help if I flash stock recovery? Will it remove "security warnig" and boot into costum ROM?
I don't know how clear I explained my problem but I hope you get it
Thanks in advance!
First lock your bootloader , then In fastboot type fastboot oem rebootRUU, that will put you in ruu mode. Then flash the new firmware. Then fastboot reboot-bootloader, then unlock your bootloader again

I have been searching all day but didn't find anything. I guess you didn't even read what I wrote. So please stop complaining, if there was somewhere the post that would help me, well, I couldn't find it. So get over it, that sometimes people post a new thread that has already been posted, this is a huge web site and sometimes it's not easy to find what exactly you need.
Thanks

thank you for your answer, and for not suing me for my post. I'll give it a try, I hope it will work
this is the guide man, it was in the first post.... you have to follow this guide to update your HBOOT, no need to flash a RUU....
this guide is taken from Shnizlon:
1. Download the ROM and place it on your virtual SD card.
2. Relock your bootloader via HTCDev.
3. Go into fastboot mode and type 'fastboot oem rebootRUU'.
4. Flash new firmware using this commend: 'fastboot flash zip PJ46IMG.zip' or using Y cable.
4a.On first time running the commend you will see FAILED, don't panic and just run the commend again.
5. Reunlock your bootloader via HTCDev.
6. Flash custom recovery using this commend: 'fastboot flash recovery recovery.img'.
7. Download boot.img and flash it using this commend: ‘fastboot flash boot boot.img’.
8. Use 'fastboot erase cache' to avoid boot issues.
9. Go into recovery and install the ROM.
10. Reboot your device and enjoy from JB!
lock bootloader

Hey folks,
i really need your help. I wanted to set my HOX back to stock, so i flashed my old backup. But i forgot that i've upgraded my hboot to 1.36 an that the backup is 1.29. Well, and now i cannot update my firmware or use RUUs... what now ? A downgrade of hboot is not possible without s-off so i dont know what to do..
thanks in advance
Is there a RUU available?
fastboot getvar version-main
Sent from my IceCold One X using xda premium
i already tried to use a RUU but if i do so i get an error message.. i think it was 140 or so
If you restored your stock backup you only need to flash back the stock 1.29 recovery and start updating ! That you already have the 1.39 hboot is no problem !
Okay, could you give me the instructions how to flash the recovery ? And where to download it?
And another strange thing is that if i use the getvar command cmd tells me that i have got 3.14, but in settings my hox tells me i have 1.29
Yeah because you upgraded the hboot. The real phones software version is embedded in there.
With the stock nandroid you "fool" the bootloader. The software will be updated while the hboot stays at 1.39
Stock recovery 1.29
http://db.tt/W5IJ8asG
Put the file in the fastboot folder and rename it to recovery.img
Put the phone in the bootloader and open a command prompt inside the fastboot folder on the pc then type :
Fastboot erase cache
Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Fastboot erase cache
Fastboot reboot
Then update the phone with official ota inside the phone settings menu !
Ahh, thank you, problem solved !
i think my hox is kidding me ... i just did the ota 2.17 and now im right in a bootloop..but i do not know how to get rid of it.
because it boots, i can see the homescreen for a short time, but then it reboots directly, and i cant turn it off. if i turn it off, it just starts again..
please help me fast, it drives me crazy that it restarts all the time!
Hold the power button and the volume - button together as long as it takes to see the bootloader
Then perform a fastboot command
Fastboot getvar version-main
Post the outcome
And after the outcome of the command try a factory reset
3.14...
factory reset doesnt help.
no one here ?
The whole number !
3.14........ And the rest
3.14.161.27
Oke lets do it different.
Download here your matching 3.14.161 nandroid backup.
Restore it just like you did with the 1.29.....should be all good then
