How to change device status - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

How can I change my device status which is currently being shown as modified. I used the triangle away earlier and at the moment download mode does not show any increase in counter and rest all is samsung official. Still the device status shows as modified.
I am on root 4.1.2
And I did update my phone yesterday using kies which means root no longer exists but still device status is modified.

Getting device status to "Normal"

Do you guys know how to change the device status from Modified to Normal easily? I have the stock ROM and the stock recovery etc. But, the settings still say that the device status is modified. Would a factory reset do it? Oh, and by the way my binary count is 0 and it says Samsung Official.

Flashing the Stock firmware in Odin should do it.

It doesnt matter if he uses Triangle Away right now, he has TWRP on it. Until he is 100% stock + rooted it will always say modified.

You're completely right. I forgot that he said he was still rooted. Assumed he unrooted at this point.

I'm 100% stock+rooted and it says under status that my phone is custom. Even After using triangle away. If I want to get the OTA update I'm gonna have to ODIN flash a stock firmware.

In triangle away check the box for 'System Modified Workaround', After a reboot it disables root for a few minutes, it should say Official after that.
What kind of recovery do you have? Stock?

Flash stock recovery (I think there is an Odin file floating around) then use triangle away. Should reset you back. The bootloader is running a check on the recovery at boot. If it doesn't match a certain value (I think it checks the signature) then it trips the counter.

Might not even matter, but just in case, do triangle away before you flash to stock. That's the way I've been told to do it, and its safer I guess.

Whoops. I actually responded to this post, buy I guess I quoted it.
To be safe, I'd use triangle away right before you flash you stock ROM. That's the way I was told to do it, and worked without a hitch. Plus, it's way easier.

Quite possibly the easiest thing to find. Use Google or YouTube and type in "how to unroot TMobile S4."
All the instructions give you links to the official stock Roms.

Stock recovery on unrooted device

Hello
Hopefully this is quite simple.
I have just unrooted my N7105. I was already running stock 4.1.1. and went into SuperSU and asked it to unroot. All went fine.
I ran Triangle Away before doing this. However it still says "Custom Binary Download: Yes (1 counts)". And my device still says modified.
Question is: Now I've unrooted, would I have to re-root to get rid of the modified status and custom binary download count?
If so once I've done this, how would I get rid of the modified status as Triangle Away didn't seem to work?
Also how do I get rid of TWRP and set it back to stock recovery?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks!
Where you find counter 1? If on triangle away application then don't count it. Just reboot to download mode (Vol Down +Home +power) and check flash counter.

Thanks for the reply
I've now sorted the triangle away problem. But now it says the following in download mode:
Odin Mode
Product Name: GT-N7105
Custom Binary Download: No
Custom Binary: Samsung Official
System Status: Custom
How would I change the System status from custom? My device still says modified under settings as well so need this changing too.
Also when attempting to update OTA to 4.1.2, the "Checking for Updates" box keeps on rolling.
Thanks again!
Your flash counter is normal 0
Just factory reset and it will be normal.

Thanks but that didn't seem to work either.
So connected to kies on my laptop and it prompted me to update to 4.1.2 which I did. Status now say normal.
Case closed
Thanks alot for your help though. Much appreciated.

did you saved your phone?

[Q] Need help, possibly bricked.

Phone gets stuck in a loop trying to reboot, all I get is the triangle screen over and over. This is after going from root-custom rom/ back to stock/ and then trying to root again. I can access download mode, and the recovery menu (Agat _recovery trec 0.3.5)
What can I do? Thanks.
Does it recognize the device in kies (or smart if you have it)? And what kernel version?

I didn't have kies installed, but it doesn't seem like it, no. And GB27 I think.
Hmmm is knox on your devoce? If so is the void flag tripped?
Sent from my SCH-I545 using xda app-developers app
Knox doesn't exist for this device. Have you tried using an Odin one-click at @rwilco12 website? Yellow triangle can be removed by an app called triangle away in the play store.

this was fixed by a data wipe, thanks.
