friends of this great forum:
I'm happy with my S3 i747 upgrade to OS 4.1.1 so Jelly Bean, what I'm upset is that jelly bean in my favorite games such as Shadowgun and dead trigger deadzone apparently not compatible with Jelly Bean 4.1.1, because they appear as a blur shader sight difficult to play. I have sent letters of complaint both on facebook as MADFINGER Games website to see if these bugs solved. and idiots to this day have not corrected this problem graph the two games. I ask those who have upgraded to the S3 Jelly bean i747 4.1.1 if you have graphics problems as I have them, and if they have done their claims to the developers, as well as dead Shadowgun trigger deadzone are good games on our phones .
would be great if there was an application to correct the problems of the games graphics.
I thank you for your answers and comments.
Go to developer settings and check "disable hw overlays" before playing. This will allow you to play without the blur.
This is not an app issue, so complaining to the game devs will get you nowhere.

Thanks for the help! I was just about to try a different room because of that error.

*disable hw overlays* makes the phone use gpu for things instead of cpu which will make it slower and lag on highest settings. The best way is to download screen filter from app store and every time you wanna play Dead Trigger not Shadowgun just first start up the screen filter app, put it on 100% and viola. Fixed without speed decrease.

Thanks, the speed filter app solved the problem, without leading to any speed decrease (which I noticed happened when i tried to play videos after disabling hardware overlay). However, I'm very curious, why does lowering the screen's brightness allow you to play the game without any artifacts or blur?

I think there's something wrong with how the game is being rendered on our phones. For example it might just be triggering 2D rendering of the CPU and not use GPU at all. When you enable screen filter, it actually doesn't lower your brightness, it puts a shade on the screen which turns on your gpu... I am not an expert but that's my theory

Hey there
Ive been playing with my new One X for a few days now and really like it, luckily i dont think i ahve experienced any defects so far which is always good however recently i decided decided to install really graphic intense games like GTA 3 and Shadowgun THD to really test the Tegra3.
While the game impressive and are playable i cant help but be a lil underwelmed by the One X's rendering of these games. Theres often slow down with skips and jumps which is really jarring when playing games. Has anyone else played these games and experienced the frame rate issues?
The One X also gets really hot, almost making my hand to start to sweat..
Thanks!
Before launching the games, go into settings -ยป developer options, and tick the option to not keep background tasks. No probs at all then. After finished playing, untick again

THanks for the tips, although it still seems to jump a bit. Maybe it will improve through software updates. im still on 1.26.
Yeah could be. I'm on 1.28 and shadowgun thd is super smooth with background tasks disabled

Disconnect wifi and mobile data aswell
I just installed it today, was a bit laggy the first time but then i've turned of my wifi and bluetooth and worked like a charm.Version 1.28.
PS:You can also try to play Shadowgun,it's absoluthly amazing.
Good suggestions, thanks. Still iwsh there was a lil more FPS. But its still good!
Is it normal for this device to lag when playing 3D games?
I understand that 3D games are quite resource intensive, but I expected better than this.
N.O.V.A 3 is almost unplayable, Modern Combat 3 suffers less lag than N.O.V.A but still a considerable amount, Mass Effect Infiltrator suffers huge lag spikes when multiple enemies are onscreen and even Monsters ate my Condo is lagging.
I am on stock touchwiz, not rooted. No custom kernel. Na-da.
Also, which may not have anything to do with this, the keyboard often lags in the messages (texting) app. Sometimes bad enough that I can watch the sentence finish itself. That's always fun, right?
Thanks in advanced to anyone who can give me any insight.

I know it will sound like a stupid question but can you make sure your power saving (from the statusbar widget) is not activated. I've notice lag on Nova Launcher while this was turned on even if I set the powersaving option not to affect CPU performance.

Thanks for a quick reply
And no, power saving mode is not on. I never activate this mode as every single task becomes extremely laggy D:
I would return this phone. This is no normal behavior. I played those game before rooting without a lag. I even downloaded torrent while playing without any lag. The phone heated up a little but hey it's a phone!

Thanks that's exactly what I was looking for; just some insight as to whether it's normal or not.
I'll look into whether I can get this sorted out. I've just gotta find the right way to get this covered by warranty or just pay a deductible for a new phone
Good thing I have an extended warranty!
Today I just downloaded the game "Dungeon Hunter 4", an RPG that some of you may have heard. I saw a video on YouTube an Xperia Z playing the game flawlessly in what I think is in the highest graphic settings. But my problem is, the max video quality I can set is medium, and more annoyingly, IT STILL LAGS A LOT.
Is there something I did wrong? Stock, rooted. I don't know if this is an optimization issue or what, but considering how very similar the two phones are, how hard is it (or if it's even a problem) to optimize it for the ZL. I'm quite disappointed right now

I dunno about yours but mine runs flawlessly. No tweaks. Stock Rom and kernel, rooted via doomlord method, and no changes in the setting after downloading.
Can you check the max graphic configuration you can set in settings? Mine only goes medium at the highest

If ur rooted... download greenify from playstore(by oasis feng)...and greenify all the apps you don't want to run in the background(all apps including games as well except for messaging apps you'll get notifications from)
The less apps running in the background the better the mobile will perform while playing high end games
If you feel that I've helped you in any way,,please hit the thanks button

Yup, I already have greenify installed and running. The problem seems to be in the optimization of the game for my phone model (c6503). Not very sure though

Dude. i play graphic hungry games a lot in my ZL with all settings maxed out. plays perfectly without any lags. May be a repair might solve your problem
Not really about emulation, but the factors that affect it that google has no answer for.
1. I noticed the ouya gets very warm, not overheating but it makes me wonder if it's like my htc one where it throttles the gpu clock speed depending on temperature?
2. I run my games from a cheap usb stick; will games / movies run with better performance with a higher quality stick or if they are put in internal storage?
3. I heard that the overscan function does nothing. Maybe it's the update but mine fixes the aspect ratio perfectly, I'm just wondering if this has an impact on performance as well.
4. I've noticed at random on both ePSXe and FPSE (paid versions) flickering lines at the bottom of the screen. I have no more info on this but was curious to see if anyone else has the same problem. I was thinking it was some kind of interference since my ouya is next to lots of other eletronics. Or maybe if the overscan function has something to do with it.
I'm trying to make a perfect emulation storage box to replace my mass of tangled controllers, cables, and power strips in power strips for all my old consoles. If I find any useful info on these I'll post it, thanks!:fingers-crossed:
So the flickering lines only happen on hardware rendering mode, which is the best since software looks bad and opengl is too slow.
ePSXe doesn't have this issue on other android devices, the reason I use it over FPSE is the sound quality is much higher and more accurate.
The retroarch psx emulator is better imo than both epsxe and fpse except for the interface sux. That flickering thing drove me nuts on fpse menus but it didn't do it during gameplay for me.

I'll give it a shot, do you happen to know if it works with Nostalgia? It's an app that sorts all your games with covers, great interface.
I have no clue I've never used that.. But I need to lol

I just spent a bunch of time configuring Retroarch, all for naught... Mednafen's Libretro doesn't boot, pscx-rearmed libretro doesn't load ff8 battles, and when launched in Nostalgia neither of them retain their settings. How is the xperia play faring better at emulating these games than a Tegra 3??

I was using it on the OUYA to play castlevania sotn and the psx version of chrono trigger and it was the only one that made the audio and video pretty close to perfect. It wasn't really expert advice or anything. Sorry man. I just pretty much plugged and played. Didn't spend too much time configuring stuff.

Which Bios number did you use? And did you select mednafen or rearmed? You're helping me a bunch, I just keep running into slight problems that lower the quality of my emulation, and I'm pretty picky when given so many options.
Rearmed was the one I liked. For bios I'm pretty sure I went with scph1001 although I'm not sure at the moment I'm not home. I also had been running the cm10 build back when I was playing those games but I don't know that it makes any difference except that it screwed up the chrono trigger cutscenes on fpse. Also I used tegra overclock to set GPU to 520mhz maybe that played a role in performance. I tried really hard to find a standalone apk for the rearmed emulator with no luck. I couldn't ever get the buttons to map correctly with retroarch on my ps3 controller which blew my mind. Had to use sixaxis controller and swap buttons around to get it to map properly, but it worked perfect with the OUYA controller right out of the box. I didn't play any other games aside from those two so there's also the issue of some games needing differing settings to work right. I just found what worked for my narrow set of expectations. I'm kinda getting the urge to mess with it some more, maybe I'll have some time this weekend to check out this nostalgia and revisit the performance of the different emulators.

Well Playstation-wise I got it working almost perfectly. I used schp1001 bios for rearmed libretro, selected that in nostalgia and made sure in the main retroarch settings to have no filter, and to save on exit (you must actually hit the exit button to save).
Here were my settings once I was in the retroarch game menu with a rom loaded:
Core Options: frameskip 0, dynamic recompiler enabled, interlacing mode enabled, enhanced resolutions enabled, frame duping off.
Settings -> video options: vsync off, Threaded driver on, whatever aspect ratio you want.
Settings -> video options -> Shader options: Default filter nearest, shader passes 1, shader#0 advanced-aa(under antialiasing), shader#0 filter nearest, shader#0 scale 1x.
After all that, save new config and quit retroarch. These settings gave me near opengl graphics better than the original and enough speed to clearly play Final Fantasy 9 and Legend of Dragoon. It looks and plays better than fpse and epsxe.
?? glad you got it working right. I wish some clever dev would build a better GUI for just the rearmed psx emulator that would be great.

I also found out that that screen flickering doesn't happen on ePSXe running software mode. Nobody else seems to have this problem though

Last post on this matter, epsxe and fpse flickering on screen is fixed by disabling hardware overlays in advanced -> developer options on the ouya..

1) It's possible, but I doubt it. I think it's pretty unlikely that a Tegra 3, which is designed for fanless use, would overheat with a heatsink and fan. Throttling is common with smartphones because of the lack of a fan.
2) Anything cartridge based will typically be small enough that transfer speed isn't an issue. Anything disc-based was expecting to be reading from an optical disc, so even a slow flash-based solution is going to be faster.
Hi,
I've dug through the G4's chaotic settings, and the "gaming optimiser" isn't exactly descriptive.
I tested the following games:
1. Modern Combat 4
2. Minecraft PE
3. Summoners War
4. Deemo
Now, in MC4 and SW, the soft nav buttons are displayed, meaning the device is rendering the games at 2k resolution. That's overkill.
However, in Deemo and MCPE, the soft nav buttons are hidden, and gameplay is buttery (1080p)
I believe the latters are detected as a game, whilst the first ones aren't.
Is there a way to "fool" the device into thinking that... "A game IS a game"?
Or even better, a way to specify resolution per app?
Thanks
Sent from my LG-H812 using Tapatalk
I wish there was a way to fool the G4 into thinking an app is a game so it runs in a HD resolution vs QHD. I'd like to run Chrome as a game because it is the app I use most and the battery savings would be nice. App Settings xposed allows changing resolution per app but does it really work?
